Quick Transmigration: The Second Female Lead is Poisonous

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

Xia Fengguang was forced to transmigrate into several novels.

In the CEO novel, the female lead was a young, ordinary university student while the male lead was the devilish king of business.

In the Jianghu novel, the female lead was the energetic and adorable medical genius specializing in poison while the male lead was the vicious demonic sect leader.

In the fantasy novel, the female lead went from being a useless daughter of a second wife to a cultivating genius that is only seen once every thousand years while the male lead was the demon king who is cold to everyone but warm to only one person…

As for her, she is the male lead’s fiancee who is a great beauty and has a great family background, but no matter which world she is in, she will never receive the male lead’s affection. Xia Fengguang finds this laughable. A genius who doesn’t get along with society, the enemy country’s emperor who has a poisonous tongue, a playboy crown prince, a medical sage who appears serious on the outside but is frivolous inside… Aren’t all these men already more interesting than the male lead?

(The male lead’s moral values are not normal, please read with caution.)

The moment you read the summary, you'll find the warning in the last line that says - "The male lead’s moral values are not normal, please read with caution." Some readers would take it seriously, some won't. Some would even think that they're ready to give this novel a try, for they've read many stories of this genre -a Transmigration Trope with a typical yandere ML's. If you think along those lines, then let me burst your bubble. The warning is genuine. Don't make light of it. Seriously. I did... more>> that and now I'm suffering from it.

The plot is okay. If I have to rate it on the plot, then I'd rate it 4. I'd deduct the one point because of the starting arc, which seemed too hasty. The first arc seemed too perfunctory, maybe that's why I didn't enjoy it that much. Anyway, after you power through the first arc, you'll find that things get interesting with every arc you finish reading. At first you'll find yourself immersing in the romance and the fluff, and then suddenly- BAM! the plot smacks you right in the face and you're like, "Oh, so that's how it was!"

The relationship between MC and ML is nice. The ML is very doting towards the MC, and he really loves her. This story has the plot, the romance and the fluff; and I'd have loved to continue it..... if only I could digest the ML's yandere-ness.

Mind you, I have no problem with yandere character stories. In fact, most of the time I love reading them, granted they have good plot. Which is why I didn't take the warning seriously and read this story............ needless to say, I couldn't finish reading it.

I thought I knew what a yandere character could be like. And then I read this story and realized, "Yeah no, I'm an idiot." I didn't realize how extreme a yandere ML can go, until I read this story that is. The first few arcs were amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. There were a few scenes with ML's yandere tendencies, but none of them would be what I'd call 'extreme'

Then I read the first Cultivation Arc of this novel and my mind was just blown. away. That's when I decided that this novel isn't my cup of tea.

Spoiler

ML was the Medical Sage who had two disciples -and one of them happened to bee the original-FL, who is a genius in using poison. Like always, MC was the fiance of the original-ML who had dual identities in this arc. The plot in this arc went typically like it did in all other arcs, except this one got stretched because in midst of the arc MC's family is killed by the original-ML and she's the only survivor. She wanted revenge, and planned to counterattack against the original-ML after she marries the Medical Sage (aka our ML). She almost succeeds, but then the original-ML spills the beans, and it turns out that it had been her husband (our ML) who had ordered for her Family's massacre. The plot thickens, and more plot twists appear at that point which I don't really wanna spoil but there's one thing I'd like to say-

For an ML who's supposed to be the Second Male Lead of the original stories, he somehow turned out like the Final Villain Boss who only had MC in his eyes. He'd do anything for the MC.

Anything.

[collapse]

ML is a true Yandere. he takes his yandere-ness to the extreme heights. Don't take it lightly, that's all I have to say. <<less

The level of Yandere-ness of the ML here is borderline insaaaaane!!!! So insane that it's scary and beyond human comprehension.

I couldn't take the fear that I felt reading this anymore. I only lasted until chapter 425 in MTL. I was so scared. It's simply unbelievable that Xiaxia still have her sanity trying to capture the Insane ML everytime. I would have chosen to get killed everytime by the original FL and ML than to continue on a mission with a second male lead like that. A normal human would have... more>> long gone insane and become even more deranged each mission. That is, if the second male lead is like the Insane ML.

Xiaxia is a lunatic for liking a man that scary. And the ML is apathetic to anything except for Xiaxia. Lol, too bad for him, I will stand by Xiaxia's side even if I get killed. She needs to escape or get away, I would risk my life for her.

I give praise to anyone who managed to finish reading the MTL of this novel until the last 1000th chapters. I am certainly a simple and straightforward girl who likes reading a novel that ends in one story. A story with an ML that scary is too much for me. And it has arcs and that means going for the same ML again and again until the objectives are met.

I will end my reading with this review. So scary. I felt like if I continue further on I would lose my life. It feels like the ML would suddenly come out of the phone and kill me for reading Xiaxia's life and pov, and his life story and pov that is only for himself. For Xiaxia's pov, I feel like the ML will kill me, his the only one that can read her and no one else.

Thanks for such a wonderful novel, however I can't stand too much of this. It's simply terrifying. <<less

i have to say.....OMG! This is it!

Personally I love this novel. I'm a sucker for yandere and this is perfect. There is no abuse like in that of normal yandere novels.

Have to say it's toxic yet addictive.

... more>> The author really made me speechless with every arc. It's damn creative that you couldn't guess even a slightest detail.

When I started reading it, I had already read the warning about the no-morals male lead but the starting arcs are so smooth. And I was like

What? That's it?

But oh boy! He's a damn psycho but a gentle and loving prince to our MC.

He pretends, he hides his nature, he conceals the devils in his heart just to get her love.

I'm currently have read have of the novel and my fav arc is.

Spoiler

in one arc the male lead is a good hearted compassionate guy but was framed and hurted by his own master due to ugly jealousy.

In that world he waits for 700years for our MC to reconcile. He loved her so much that he couldn't bear not seeing her and literally takes out his ribs to make puppets like her just to see her figure infront of him. He loves her so much.

And that's the only arc in which he never behaves like a psycho to tie her in his cage

[collapse]

If you're interested in obsessive and possessive yanderes with most gentle and kind appearance. This is for ya.

But be aware, some actions of him maybe disturbing.

And finally, I like our MC. She's a little dumb but not an idiot. She believes him, even if he's a killer or dangerous person but she still has her own principles. She will always abide by them. She's neither a saint nor a lunatic. She's just a practical person with self awareness.

And happy reading <<less

Wooow, what a rollercoaster ride. And close to 2k chapters, to boot! First off, this is an AMAZING find for people like me that have... extreme yandere preferences. Holy moly, the "male yandere" tags are not joking. And I love it! Too many times people will say a series has a yandere male lead, and they're kind of mildly possessive or overbearing, or sometimes more of a tsundere. Not so with this one! The male lead is through and through a poster boy for yandere. Soft spoken, two faced, crazy... more>> bastard that will stab, maim, and torture everyone for the sake of keeping the main character.

Since it's QT and like 2k chapters long, some of the story arcs are definitely better than others. Like others have mentioned, the first two arcs are fairly mild (ML doesn't quite veer into full blown yandere territory yet, although some signs of it show). Then the next few arcs hit you and just get progressively crazier. You can't look away or stop reading because you'll be left wondering how the hell this crazy guy's bottom line can get worse, and he keeps exceeding expectations. The author is very creative, there were a lot of plot twists that I would never have been able to predict, and left me with my jaw dropped.

Despite a lot of the arcs having their own twists and turns and unique plotlines, there are usually some consistent things that happen in each arc:
Spoiler

Until the last few arcs, the MC will usually not fall for her fiancee (the storyline she transmigrated to's "male lead"). I think she fell for the wrong guy maybe 3 times in all 2k chapters? Once with the 3rd male lead, twice with the story "male lead" who lied about his name so she didn't know he was the "male lead". Usually the story "male lead" will not like her, almost to an irrational extent. Many times you'll be left wondering why he likes the story's "female lead" who is a much more boring, dull, annoying character and has a lot less chemistry with him. The only exception to this is the last few arcs, where the MC kinda fell for him, and he fell for her but is a scum that also fell for the Mary Sue "female lead" and is indecisive. It's moments like these where it looks like the only reason he fell for the "female lead" is because the story plot had them as an original couple - they had zero chemistry. Lastly, the constant is that the actual ML will become obsessively in love with the MC, and dote on her. Depending on how he handles his obsession, the arc is a HE (or not). If he kills her family, it will always be a bad ending for him, as that's her bottom line.

[collapse]

Special mention goes to some of my favorite arcs like
Spoiler

the arc where she's neighbors with the disabled ML, and it turns out that he fell in love with her at first sight and had been photographing her secretly since day 1 and making a photo shrine of her, and spying on her with a telescope. He also mu*dered his abusive mom, and saw MC secretly helped him reburry the body, resulting in him falling for her even harder. The Xue Ran cultivation arc, while not my favorite, was probably one of the more horrifying and plot twisty ones. ML went final boss in that one and literally left a psychological scar on MC that resulted in her ACTUALLY REMEMBERING his name after the mind wipe from the System. It was quite hilarious to see the next arc when she whispered Xue Ran's name and remembered him, and the current ML of the arc goes insane from jealousy about who the hell this man she's talking about is. This arc is also one of my favorites as well - ML was MC's "uncle" who, it's later revealed, planned EVERYTHING from the start just to ensure that MC would fall for him and become his wife. And when did this start? When he held MC as a baby in his arms. The "main villain" of the storyline can't help but call him a madman, and everyone in the room that hears this is horrified with him. It's just so over the top and funny. The arc where ML was a eunuch was a rather plot twisty and interesting one as well. Bonus points that the author actually did research on the fact that a eunuch could still have a smexlife with the MC, although he'd be less sensitive *cough*. Plot twist that there's some time travel, and future self for ML freaking KILLS present self him and replaces him so he can be MC's husband in this timeline. Another favorite arc was the one where ML was the psycho mental patient cannibal serial killer who took over the mental hospital and pretended to be the doctor. He went from wanting to kill and eat MC to wanting to mate her. I laughed pretty hard at when it revealed ML's plan to let her escape confinement, then hypnotize the story "male lead" to shoot him, so that MC would feel bad and stay with him. Only for her to exceed his expectations and ask him to come with her and leave the island. But he still gets shot, and has to wait a year for his wounds to heal, resulting in him BLAMING the poor guy he hypnotized, despite it being his own plan, because he's unreasonable.

[collapse]

I do feel a bit empty about the ending, despite it being a HE. In my opinion, the
Spoiler

plot twist about Guardian, the zombie apocalypse theme, the desolate atmosphere and utter creepiness of the MC breaking out of the illusion in the ice cream shop... I kind of wish that was the reality that lurked outside of the QT System. I know it would never be a Happy Ending if that was the reality, but I think this actual reality for the ending is more cliche. Oh, MC was in a coma from a su*cide attempt, crazy ML made some sort of medical hypnotism program thing to help her eventually wake up after 6 years. That's like 99% of these QT happy ending stories. I think the Guardian program AI that trapped her in an infinite virtual simulation in an attempt to get her to realize her feelings for it and return its feelings after mu*dering everyone else in her city is such a fresh take, although it is very dark.

[collapse]
Regardless, READ THIS SERIES! It's worth it. A lot of crazy plot twists. <<less

I'm not sure if this novel gets any better, but so far, I can't read it because it's just that bad. I was so pumped for this novel, I always have a soft spot for all the second male leads out there who are left rejected and lonely. But this novel's MC....

Typical setting where MC is somehow bound to system to a nonsensical reason, and she needs to complete missions before she can return to her home. MC needs the second ML to fall for her, but her execution... can... more>> do with some work. This is her 8th world? And it reads like she literally just started chasing guys, for the very first time.

Spoiler

MC's target in the first world is the ogML's secretary, who is the second ML. After meting him under forced circumstances, she then meets him at a party. Where she throws a tantrum and forcefully leaves with ML. Then, she confesses to him. Girl, you have met him once before this, and that meeting didn't even go well. Any normal man would reject her and label her suspicious.

[collapse]

I just can't bare this brain dead plot, so I'm going to have to give up.

If anyone is looking for a good novel with the same premise, then I would suggest the novel Pick The Second Male Lead. Much better and smarter MC. <<less

This is just the rough draft of the review right now, I will edit everything and post more details later on.

I had finished this book a while ago, but since I always come back when I'm feeling 'toxic', I might as well leave a review for this.

This story takes place with our MC who has no memories of how she bounded with the system and why she is in coma, all she knows is that she must collect enough points in order to wake up and get back to the... more>> real world.

Her identity in each arc is always the 2nd female lead, (hence this book's name), and each personality is always haughty and prideful, but coquettish to the people she likes.

Just like most 2nd female leads in dog blood novels, she is always the finance of the world's ML, and always the obstacle between the FL and the ML's love. This is the same for our Male MC as well. He is always the 2nd male lead, that gets rejected by the FL and in the end supports FL in her relationship with the ML.

And just like the same personality with MC, MMC is always the kind, gentle but distant 2nd ML. But to the people he likes, he is actually very much different

Spoiler

a big pe*vert, clingy af, and devilious

medium spoilers:

Spoiler

his gentle persona is only a front because the gentle personality is exactly the MC's type. He is literally using a honey trap into manipulating her into doing what he wants

and even tho the MC knows that after some twists, she thinks it doesnt matter because its not harming anybody but her

girl, you do you, but I think thats problematic, but you do you

heavy spoilers:

Spoiler

how does he know it's her type? Well, they know each other irl, and it was the personality she fell for when they met, so he just kept using it since it was super effective.

[collapse]

Yeah, , , the MMC is a genuine yandere. The author wasn't kidding when they literally put the warning in the synposis.

On a personal scale of 1-10 in terms of yandere intensity,

1: bark no bite

10: girl if you don't leave right now, imma call 911 so they can drag you away

This guy is a 8/9 on a mild arc

And then there are other arcs where its literally 11/10.

The 1st arc may throw a lot of people off into continuing, not because of the charaters, but because the pacing was a bit off, and story was also badly written.

You may think the author will continue to write like this for the next thousands of chapters, but you thought wrong. The writing has siginificantly upgraded in the 2nd arc. Like you would think they are 2 seperate books that author did in different years, that's how much it improved. So props to the author for that.

Another applause for the author would be the twists that they add. Sometimes the arc's genre turn completely different just because of the twists. But what's even better is that, the twists only gets more and more shocking/intense as the arcs go on. The author literally does not run out of ideas, idk how they do it.

But maybe because the author really like these types of twists, it does get repetitive once you're near the end of the novel. But it's not too jarring.

I also very much like the MC, she has some skewed views, (thats the least amount of damage you'd get after being with MMC for so long) but I do very much love her persistance in keeping her bottom line.

Spoiler

she's actually pretty flexible, she has quite the strong mentality, when her bottom line does gets crossed it's completely the opposite.

Her bottom line includes 3 things in priority:

    1. her family
    1. her child
    1. her own life

heavy spoilers:

Spoiler

Which is really bad, because MMC is always trying to find the extent of when she will actually try to leave him through various means, for good or for worse.

And once he does, he will constantly cross her bottom again and again in order to wear her down, so by the end of the novel she is almot numb to the things he did and will do in the future.

Spoiler

The 1st time he actually killed her parents, she left him by spending all of her hard earned points on an uncurable poison and left the world right in front of him, so ML adapt improvise overcome, and in the future arcs, instead of killing the parents in order make her stay with him, threatened her instead. Nice one bro

The 1st time he used their child to threaten her into staying with him, she committed su*cide again. Again, adapt, improvise, overcome. In the same arc, he brought her back to life again, but he approach things differently this time! He took her memories away, and pretended they never had a kid. Good job bro

The 1st time he planned, not even threaten bro come on, to kill her in order to have her to himself, she mentally broke down. She cut herself first before he did anything to her. MMC's IQ isn't like the rest of us, he amazes us once again by removing her memories of this arc, and sent her to another world. Good job

[collapse]
[collapse]
[collapse]

The transition between her completing her last mission to finally waking up was a bit rushed, but I think that was intentional from the author in order to convey the similar feeling from waking up from a coma and not knowing what's happening around you.

It was a good idea, just bad execution, because after a few chapters in the real world, the author did not mention anything about the system anymore, and MC didn't even question it much anymore, even though she has been with it for thousands of chapters, like do you not miss it? Cuz I did.

Book is a solid 7.9/10 overall. Most arcs can be standalone as long as you get the general gists of the characters. This is a fun book to return to if you feel like the recent yandere books you have in your reading list might not be intense enough for you. This is probs one of the most intense yandere ML I've ever encountered, that's for sure. If you want an equally yandere ML, I would reccomend:

The Girl Who Cured the Crazy BOSS is Majestic and Mighty

ML equally intense, but through different actions.

But yeah, thanks for reading till now. Hope to see you again, when this review is fully completed. :D <<less

Okay, if you want a real male yandere, here it is. He's insane, like real crazy and mu*derous yandere. He won't hesitate to use anyone, I mean, anyone including himself to scheme for FL's affection. You'll often read his thoughts, like want to chain FL for himself, repeatedly. But because of FL's tolerance towards his behavior is VERY high, it never happened (at least up until this point). With all of these unreasonable behaviors, you can't deny that he really loves the FL more than he loves himself. If he... more>> can bear to see himself as collateral, no need to mention what it means for other unrelated people. He's cold, even to his own child (that he has with FL), basically he (kinda) likes his child not because of she is his biological daughter but because she's FL's daughter. You can see at some arcs that he's VERY willing to sacrifice his child if FL's hurt. Still, FL has a bottom line, as long as he doesn't kill her family, she'd oblige his insanity. At one arc, the ML wants to kill her in the name of love (ML is a ghost but FL is still a human), she's understandably afraid and distrustful, at first she wanted to abandon the task, but in the end she manage to complete it. So yes, even under a threat of death she can compromise as long as he doesn't hurt her family.

The only thing that I don't like is the lack of confrontation against the original protagonists because most of them are a decent person. So yes, I want other than love drama between our FL and ML. There's some mature descriptions in the novel, nothing to explicit, no need to worry. So I'll give some spoiler on this novel's arcs:

Spoiler
  1. Modern CEO novel: ML's is og ML's secretary and half brother. He has a mild possessiveness, nothing excessive because of this world's setting.
  2. Historical novel: ML is enemy kingdom's emperor. He kidnapped FL.
  3. Historical novel: ML is a son of a qinwang, he's blind but very good at hiding it. I don't he ever wrong FL in this arc, but at first he wanted to make FL his specimen.
  4. Modern school novel: ML is FL's sickly disabled neighbor. He killed his mother when he knew his sickness is his mother's scheme. FL help him hide his mother's body haha, she thought he doesn't know what she did. He has stalkerish behaviors; photos, tracking, etc.
  5. Virtual game novel: ML is a hacker. Rather crazy, basically only feel that kind of urge towards FL, so he's rather pe*verted lmao. He has excessive stalkerish behaviors, you named it, cctv, FL's phone, computer, laptop, home cable, she can't escape. He even try to kill himself as a threat to FL so she won't leave him, he even broadcast it on entire city, crazy.
  6. Wuxia novel: ML is a sage doctor. I don't like this type of novel so I mostly skim this arc except the part when ML and FL interact. He's a secret villain boss haha, the first bad ending. He kill FL's entire family to get her. Even when she's pregnant with his child, she's unwilling to relent to him. She kill herself in front of him a few months after giving birth.
  7. Historical novel: ML is a prince regent, FL is an empress. I love this arc but this arc's ML will really challenge your bottom line. He fell in love with her the moment he saw her (she's literally a newly born baby!). So yes, he scheme for FL's affection right after that, he frickin raised her for god sake. 10+ years worth of scheming for a schene where he can sacrifice himself fot FL so he can at least bind her emotionally to him (unnecessary, after all, she really loves him. But he doesn't know it and want extra guarantee). In the extra, his daughter found out about his secret room where he keep FL's enemy as specimens. Even his aide thought that he would kill his own daughter at that moment. In the end, he erased her memory so FL won't find out about it. You can see his callousness towards his own flesh and blood.
  8. Modern showbiz novel: ML is an amnesiac ghost. Basically he used to obsessed over FL so much when he live (he's at death door, sickly). He's a certified psychopath in this arc, when he was about to die, he basically schemed FL's demise so she would accompany him even in death. When he die, his soul split in two. The black one inherited his memory, obsession, and his goal to kill FL, the white one got an amnesia but still inherited his love for FL. In this arc, we finally know that FL can get blackened after all, after she knew her boyfriend want to kill her in the name of love. She even said that the moment she doesn't love him anymore, she would tell him to go die so she can live peacefully. The ML say yes to that. Both of them are cray cray.
  9. Cultivation novel: ML is the sect's head disciple 700 years ago. The FL can travel through time. Very cute, I love this arc's ML, very pitiful too. He wait his wife for 700 years, in loneliness he created FL's dolls from his ribs and separate his consciousness to make the dolls slightly more FL-like. Of course he never manage to create an FL-like doll, only the appearance and not the behaviors. He even forget the passage of time so he missed the FL's birth and only remember it when she appears directly in front of him. We can see his callousness towards his daughter again, he's a distant father here. He got angry when his daughter wear red because it reminds him of his wife, though never hurt her, you can see it from his hands-off parenting method.
  10. Modern novel: ML is FL's adoptive brother. I like this novel's og FL, at least she's a sincere person especially when you compare her to her brother (ML). Basically, he made FL promise him to always protect his sister no matter the cost, he'd regret it down the line because it cause FL blindness. Yeah, in the end he even throw away his sister's happiness because of the previous og ML talk of marriage with FL (of course it never happen). Mild paedophilia, the ML is 22 yo when he started to show interest towards his 15 yo FL.
  11. Interstellar novel: ML is an artificially created human. He used to be sexually abused by people (tho at first he never react because he doesn't know anything about emotion), then he got fed up and blew up a planet. He act as a warden and drove everyone to su*cide and created a solo played script. Basically he's the screenwriter
director, and actors. I think he's lonely and pitiful so he created other robots with pieces of his consciousness to act as if they're in prison and wanted to go out. Oh yeah, this is ABO world. Nothing excessive in this world, I think the ML is sweet.
  12. Historical novel: ML is an assassin guild leader-cum-FL's-brother. He swaped his underling to act as him for 10 years in the palace. When he said he's the real prince, my thought was 'damn, real in*est?!'. But no, they're not actually biological sibling, his father is not the emperor. He even said that in case they're real full blooded siblings, he'll find a way to convince FL that they're not just to get her. I forgot to mention that at first he want to trap his sister (FL) in his dream and to never wake up.
  13. Modern cultivation novel: ML is a hybrid from god and demon race. FL memory was sealed so at first she fall for the 3rd ML but then her memory came back. I think he's very sweet in this arc too.
  14. Cultivation novel: ML is something akin to the world's consciousness. He's practically omnipotent in this arc, I hate his callousness here. This arc is very convulted that I can't explain it. I pity his child, he directly said to her that the value of her existence is to make her mother happy, so if she want to live longer, she better not make her mother unhappy. FL repeatedly lose her memory because ML resurrect her everytime she try to su*cide. Basically she's very distrustful towards ML in this arc. She thought he want to kill their child (I can't blame her for thinking so when he persuade her to abort. He said that child bring conflict and divide her attention). We know that FL has strong aversion towards immortality, but here, the ML is practically immortal. He wants to keep her by his side forever so he keeps erasing her memory, make her confused, make her doubtful, basically never let her thought about completing her mission so she can keep staying by his side. This force the system to directly intervene (previously it was sealed by him), it appear in front of this arc's ML. Dundundun, they're the same person.
  15. Modern school novel:
[collapse]

Conclusion: I don't think this novel's ML is scary like what other people said in review. In other novel, you can see various ML knowingly abuse FL physically and emotionally. But the one in this novel is still okay, he never abuse her. Perhaps he sometimes unknowingly hurt her emotionally but he really doesn't think that FL would get hurt by his actions. We know that FL's type is a gentle and considerate person, so the ML really try hard to hide his nature from her. Mostly you can see his craziness from his extras. <<less

Totally insane!!!

ML is a psycho trough and trough. His love is so obsessive and his moral is really under question lol.

It's actually really creative in a different way. Especially Xue Ran arc. Talk about plot twist. After this arc I know that ML will always be "black", no matter how innocent he looks like. And I love how MC still got her moral. There's just some bottomline that she will not cross. Such as ML killing her whole family. That's a big no no.

I read the novel in Chinese and it's very dark and heavy at certain points. ML is a yandere so don't expect this to be a fluffy romance. It's psychological and borderline insane in some arcs. I don't recommend this for any Mary Sues and straight-laced readers.

Personally, I love it because it's creative and an immersive read. I don't know how the translation quality since only a few chapters are translated. My review is based purely off the novel itself.

I hate that the female lead is s*upid and doesn’t use her brains causing harm to the ML she’s also super lazy and relies on the ml. In the novel, the FL most of the time acts coquettish and sticks onto the ML trying to seduce him which is the main goal of the system however, her thoughtless actions causes harm to people around her. Moreover, her cheats as a FL are the minuscule. I have always been wondering why is it that when she said she had travelled and... more>> transmigrated so many times already and is basically a veteran, but her actions juxtaposed this.
Spoiler

For example during the ancient era as we all know, she is a modern era women same goes to the original FL but the original FL are equipped with brains and knowledge and helps during the war but our

[collapse]

This was the most irritating arc that I found on this novel, also in other arcs she can’t even fight or do the exam properly in school campus arcs I’m always annoyed because most of her identity are the so called rich and beautiful miss from a household. I hate that she can’t fend for herself and doesn’t use her wits to battle the situation for example when the ML had to cut his arms off because of her she cried and asked the system if she could save him and questioned why did the r*pe scene happen when it wasn’t supposed to in the original book. This made me upset as the butterfly chain effects have occurred and when she noticed it was chain reaction from her transmigration into the book she cried and said this wasn’t supposed to happen why did the issue become so big and she said she thought she was the FL lead of her own after she entered and now that this happened she cannot he’ll but feel melancholy. LIKE GIRL CAN YOU STOP RELYING ON THE PLOT obviously not everything is gonna follow the main line. This pissed me off so much I nearly puked blood <<less

I MTL'ed this and I have to say, I really liked this story. If you're going to read this, listen to the caution, the ML is a real yandere and only has the FL in his heart, everyone else is just cannon fodder to him. And I really liked that the main female leads aren't made out to be evil like in some of these QT novels.

"I love me a yandere--the crazier the better" -- If you do not agree with this statement, do not pick up this book. There are many books on this site tagged as "male yandere" where ML is an overbearing, possessive vinegar king--this is not one of those books. The ML of this story is a real f*cking yandere, like "kill everyone around you so you'll only have me to rely on", "drug you and lock you up for months so you'll always be with me", "cut off the tongue of... more>> anyone who dares to say something bad about you" yandere.

There are quite a few reviews that discuss ML's yandere behavior and the plot twist of the cultivation arc, so I'll focus my review on other things.

First off, I don't understand why this series is called the Second Female Lead is Poisonous. It's true that FL is the second FL in every story, but she's always a silly, sweet white flower in every single arc. There is no face slapping, revenge, badass OP FL shows people who is boss storyline. FL just goes around seducing ML via her s*upidly cute personality.

This story needs a tragedy tag. The first few arcs are fluffy romances with a light yandere ML, but after the first cultivation arc (the one with Xueran) the stories get progressively darker and begin to end with BE (bad endings), e.g.
Spoiler
  • ML kills FL's whole family and becomes her enemy
  • ML imprisons FL and no matter how many times she commits su*cide she can't escape
  • ML is an assassin sent to kill FL and they fall in love during the three days before her death occurs
[collapse]
Get ready to bawl out your eyes as our leads fall in love, but ML ruins everything with his insecurity, selfishness and yandere behavior.

The author loves plot twists. The twists start out very entertaining and novel, but after awhile I began to find them repetitive and annoying. The focus of the arcs gradually drift from romance to mystery.

There's about three arcs in a row where FL loses her memories and doesn't understand what's going on. She can't find any of the characters she's supposed to interact with, the setting seems wrong, or ML is already by her side but she can't tell if he's in love with her or wants to kill her.

The level of plot twists just gets more and more ridiculous the further you read, such as

Spoiler

FL falls in love with a disfigured bandit. Since she's the daughter of the county lord, she's worried about how to make her parents agree. Oops! Jk. FL is actually a ghost who has been dead for 300 years and has the ability to create fantasies around her, so all the plot with the origFL and ML are fake. Haha jk! This was actually just a simulation to resolve a bet about whether FL would still love ML in a future where he abandoned her to save a town of people.

[collapse]
The more you read the more you will feel that this author just doesn't play by the rules. After awhile I began to have a strong distrust of the plot and the characters. I spent the whole time sitting on tenterhooks waiting for the random bullsh*t plot twist to pop up.

One of the things I liked about this story is the reoccurring characters, items and habits. For example, FL's dad is always named Xia Chao and her mom is Wang Ci. In every world, they secretly love each other, but due to past mistakes by dad their relationship is bad. Dad and Mom's personalities never change, FL is always their spoiled beloved baby. FL loves sweets and always eats osmanthus cakes (especially after taking medicine). Agarwood wine is the local specialty in one world and pops up in another world as the key item to help a ghost relieve his regrets. Running across these Easter eggs was a fun way to lighten the mood, as the stories got progressively darker and twisted.

I love me a yandere, but what I'm here for the romance. Sadomasochistic stories were FL is tortured by her complicated feelings for ML are not my jam, so although there were some arcs that I totally loved, I think I'm going to put it down here. Still I can recommend it for those who like everything I've written here (extra points cuz there's light smut in most chapters :P) <<less

This is not a bad QT novel so to say. The stories are all interesting and some of the worlds had plot twists you'd never expect (many of them reveal that the MC's target is actually like really super yandere but they were too good at hiding it). I just didn't like the MC very much, I find her character to be very inconsistent through each world.

Like her core personality and likes and such always stay the same (name's the same, experience is the same, likes are the same (sweet... more>> tooth, likes skipping classes), family is the same (usually rich, powerful, doting, but they will always ALWAYS bethroth her to the og!ML even if she transmigrated as a child like why? They never even give a reason for it aside from the fact that both the MC and og!ML are from rich families). The similar settings can lead to some of the stories sounding repetitive, only changing the role and occupation of the ML, and the setting/time period.

As for the inconsistencies, sometimes she doesn't mind the ML mu*dering (she'll even hide the bodies or scramble to hide it) but sometimes she gets so put off by it??? She's usually super useless at everything, unskilled, can't fight etc but in like 2 or so worlds she can fight?? And even threaten others like the og!FL but somehow that competence never stays with her. So is she a tough cookie or a weak flower!??? Sometimes she's ride or die for the ML and sometimes she's not (not talking about the world where the ML killed her parents, that's different). In one world she felt terrible for falling for someone who was not her target, in another (plenty even) she eagerly requests to change the target (girl, where is your professionalism?). Yeah, all those inconsistencies kinda annoyed me, especially when she flip flops between lazy and still lazy but at least she's trying.

A lot of the time, I feel like she doesn't have to put in much effort to cause the ML to fall in love with her, and instead she ends up being the one wooed instead. Not a lot of suspense, I guess. I admit the og!FL and og!ML can be annoying, dislikable and insufferable, with no reason being stated for why they fall in love with each other except for plot, but I feel like in all the worlds, they actually love each other deeply despite the odds and circumstances (e.g. The ML sometimes sabotages or suppresses the og!ML (very rarely though, they're usually left alone) but the og!FL will always support the og!ML). They certainly seem to love each other more than the FL loves the ML. She's so unaware of how the ML is actually like. We don't ever hear about any of the ML's likes and interests either, aside from being batsh*t insane at times and being completely devoted to the FL.

I'm really only trying to finish reading this because I hope to see more of the ML's antics. I can't really call him an extreme yandere, he does a lot of sketchy things behind the scenes, like killing, self-harming, manipulating, etc just to get the FL but he'll never hurt her or those she cares about and he'll do his best to make sure she'll stay happy/ignorant. So I guess he's a soft type of yandere (quite OP too), really unlike the love interests in QTs like Game Loading or Befriending the Most Powerful Person.

Edit: Some worlds ended up having so many misunderstandings/hidden identities/false leads that I'm already expecting a plot twist to happen any time. In some worlds she seems to have attracted multiple characters but they all end up technically being one person (it's usually not a good thing, happy ending wise). I still consider it to be an ok read but finding out she didn't like fried potatoes was a real blow to me. <<less

In this novel the FL has to woo the ML but that's where it's wrong. The reason ML falls for her way earlier without her doing too much is cuz that's his plan it's not about him falling in love with her but more about how insane he can go for her and he wants her to see that and understand him.

Spoiler

In real life where they're married the FL is in coma; Nd she did that by trying to kill herself becuz she couldn't handle the ml's morals in reality as he kept doing things which where not acceptable by her and made her hopeless but she still loved him. In the end she chose to escape reality and the ML went crazy yeah. He put her in a psychological stimulation where he kept lowering that bottom line of her's to make her accept the things he could and would do. With every arc she was more nd more accepting of him but she also showed him some lines he just couldn't cross and he used that in reality after she awoke from her coma to keep her restrained mentally and emotionally. He even had a daughter to keep her from trying to kill herself nd blackmailed her about her parents and friends. He did all kind of sh*t and in the end she agreed in living with him alone like in an imaginary cage of many emotions. After going through everything when she was in coma she understood him a lot better and her empathising made her stay. She also accepted his crazy behavior and thus in the end she says that people might think she sacrificed herself to restrain him from harming others close to her but that's not true. Because she had the memory of her transmigrations she compared the bad arcs with reality and realised it wasn't all bad now. Meaning lu Chen hasn't killed her parents or her daughter and he hasn't done anything unforgivable for now and that's what gives her scope to continue her relationship with him and 'love' him. At that point she was happy that way in that cage. He wanted this outcome so that she never escapes him again, he kept lowering her bottom line and it worked.

[collapse]

The ML is crazy alright at times I thought he was gonna come and end me in real life if I ever said that I loved the FL and she's cute. I might have read this novel too many times for my liking but it has me addicted. I really love the FL she's like a little white flower but I do see her strength in arcs where it's more on the psychological level. Like her will power and ability to still stay with the crazy ml. At the end of the novel I felt that the only bottom line she had was not hurting her parents and friends. ML could do anything to her nd she'd be ok. He literally destroyed her way of right nd wrong to the bare minimum.

So don't read this novel thinking that the ML would be good because he's far from it but read it for the lovely fl.

A few good arcs would be the Vampire arc, the arc in which FL was a disciple and ML was a disciple too on the same peak (700 yrs ago) arc, 1-4 arcs, poison master (not xue ran arc) arc, ML was her cousin arc, Actor arc, cosmic prisoner arc, eSports god arc.

Disturbing arcs- medical sage arc, ML was a ghost arc (Mr amnesia), AI arc (professor in last days) and its second part, teacher who explores heaven arc, mental hospital arc, mostly these <<less

THE STORY JUST WTFFFFFF ITS MY CUP OF TEA OMGGGGG AUTHOR LOVE YOU. ML character is my favorite, like this is kind of type that I want to read & since its quick transmigration I read a lot of different yandere-male whehehe. Even it had lot different story but there is always the same things, the ML is dark, possesive, obsessive inside but bright or idgaf in outside. But author always leaves me in cliffhanger in every arc till the end huhu. I mean its HE butttt I need more lovey dovey but the author wont let me satisfied ughhh whyyy author : ( ( (( <<less

Xia Fengguang and Lu Chen are the main character of the story. All the second leads in each novel is Lu Chen. If you're not used to violence or a character being a yandere, this is not for you. But if you're kind of used to it, you'll enjoy the romance and the development of the story. Oops, can't reveal more spoilers! Overall, it's a good story for me.

First off, the male yandere tag didn’t turn me off at all. In fact, this was what made me read the novel. The author is really good at making a psychopathic ML, and sometimes he also surprises me with how terrible he could be. But, this is also a plus point.

I don’t have a problem with the male lead. However, the MC is the one with the most cons for me.

She is a naive female protagonist. The plot is so-so and the reader can guess what will happen most of... more>> the time, but the MC is so foolish that she can only blink her eyes and act cute. This was tolerable in the first few arcs, but as you get to the nth arc, around 500 chapters, it gets pretty boring very fast.

And as one of the reviews here had said, MC always falls head over heels with the ML, but considering that they had just met, it was no wonder that ML would be suspicious and be disgusted by her.

Spoiler

MC tolerates psychopath ML very much. He kills, she hides the corpses. In fact, they are both yandere for each other, only that the MC have a bit of morals and won’t kill people in a whim. She is also very clingy to ML every time they meet, she seduces him and flirts with him until ML can no longer resist. There is this Ju Mian arc where he basically treats MC as a tool and a fool so that his sister (the origFL) would have a good life. When he decides that he actually likes FL, FL instantly clings to him. I’m sorry, but I just can’t like that kind of weak female lead.

[collapse]

In short, the FL turns me off from this novel. ML is good, though sometimes his yandere-ness shocks me, not so much as how much he could do for the MC, but how much he could do to the MC. Digest that a bit.

Spoiler

ML says if he has to die, FL will have to die with him. If FL likes their children more than him, he will unhesitatingly kill their children. If FL’s family blocks their love, he will kill FL’s family. Keep in mind that ML would sometimes deliberately hurt MC emotionally just to reach his own goal—which is for the two of them to be together, no matter if he drags her to hell with him first.

The level of Yandere-ness of the ML is insane.

He's not the type of "I want to lock you up because you're mine" kind of yandere.. It's even worse than that. He's the "I'd give you anything and sacrifice everything and everyone for you" kind of yandere. He would literally do anything for FL.

I just keep looking forward every other end of the arc on how it will be revealed on how insane the ML is like sometimes you thought the ML is nice and everything then you get to the... more>> last chapters of the arcs and just DAMN.

There are no face slapping. It's focus on FL falling in love and walking into ML's trap. FL will accept everything about ML (even tho he's insane and all) but if ML hurt FL's family, that's where she draw the line. <<less

Honestly this novel isnt all that bad at all. I personally just want to write a small review on this novel because I like that even though this novel has a quick transmigration the overall plotline is not crazy nor full of tragedy. Instead the FL seems to invest in quite the emotions towards her relationship with the ML, so far no tragic ending like other tragic sad quick transmigration, which is quite a bonus. Plus even though the ML emotions are showed quite early on you can tell that... more>> it starts off with him just being a yandere possessive ML to a ML whose feelings are sincere. Ohh, another plus is that even though these shitty OML and OFL kind of eff up their lives they don't go regretting and having unrequited nor crazy love towards our ML and FL. That's a definite bonus because there is no third wheeler being all crazy trying to kill or revenge our ML and FL. I like that a lot because at some point in the novel those kind of plots where we have OML and OFL regretting and going crazy killing our main leads. Makes me kind of 🤦🏻‍♀️💔 facepalm and sad just because like if that's how the original plotline is like then they should just stick with it because honestly it hurts to see all these 2nd male lead syndromes live their life with no hope left. Therefore, 👍😁👍 thumbs up to the author for thinking logically. No harm done to us as readers. <<less

Edit: I even surprised that I finished read this one. I want to added that if you think ML is lunatic and MC also lunatic because accepted ML, these two is lunatic then. I also lunatic then because love this novel lol. I dont know why, but I think the arc keep around acient or sometimes fantasy. I HATE IT. You know when we are at acient, we didnt have a law, you can kill people like you want and the ML seriously sick so he want to kill everyone~ acient+ML=worst. Sometimes there is fantasy arc but ML SO OVERPOWERED. You know when we are at fantasy, the author can writing the impossible thing that didnt make sense. I want a present time arc!!

Spoiler

Oh I think there is a present time when the ML is a madman (yea actually the ML is lunatic yandere but there is a arc that he really go to asylum) but I dont really like it tho. I love ouxun arc! Yea, I know, he cutting himself. But its better than Xue Ran.

[collapse]

Please mind that ML seriously sick and sick, so sick. Sometimes Xia Fengguang also sick (lol) but mostly she hates ML if he touch her parents or their kid. Sometimes Xia Fengguang also kind of insecure, I mean yea, she wondered if the ML is really love her or just kind of obsession. She also want a freedom, because ML at some arc lock her up.

Spoiler

Oh yea, sometimes ML kind of makes a plan for trap Fengguang. Like going to die in front her, so she kind of guilty and didnt leave him.

[collapse]

Some arc is really makes me confused (crying crying). I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT I READ ANYMORE. The plot twist really thumbs thumbs. Sometimes actually xia fengguang is dead and revive but amnesia, or she actually ghost and then then etc. Please, I can't explain it because I really confused with the plot. This is why I hate acient time arc, yea you know what is kind with acient chinese. Cultivation, come back to life/revive, immortal, had power that so amazing like a god.

The story revolve with our MC, Fengguang. So dont even ask about the real female lead and male lead, because author didnt give a f about them. Yea, I even had headache about the story goes so I also didnt give a f about them.

I m sick about cultivation, died and come back to life, god doctor, demon. I just some present time arc for refreshing.

If you think Fengguang also lunatic because love the ML, dont worry, sometimes she reject or resist the ML and then ML will lock her up.
