it had so much potential; up till the 69th chapter la. and then comes the ending. it was so, extremely very abrupt.

too many things were left unexplained and instead we were given one chapter (more like spoiler straight from the forum) masked as an ending.

like binging on a show you came across on netflix without reading the summary and checking the episodes, and just when you reached the climax of the show, it turns out that there is no next episode available because the show is still ongoing.

excepttttt...... more>> this novel is completed.

really can't understand what author was thinking, if author continued writing this story diligently then it will surely be a big hit. I felt like author had many ideas for the plot, but at the end lost motivation/inspiration to continue and just decided to abandoned it and concluded everything into one short chapter. can't help but think something happened to the author in the middle of writing this novel.

so disappointed, it was going so well.

2/5, kinda feels like getting edged LMAO. 5/5 for The Sweeper of The Courtyard. our translator did a great job :-) <<less

Really shocked that this can be considered a completed novel. Not the translation, I mean, but the actual novel itself. Everything was going fine, a bit slow paced but fine until chapter 70. Out of absolutely no where, the author decided to end the novel. There was no leading up to it. There was no.. "Hmm, this seems like a good spot to end things". Nothing had even happened yet besides the female lead meeting the male lead and marrying. The chapter before was her worrying that her sister would... more>> end up taking her place and going through what she did in her previous life.

Here is an excerpt of the last chapter to show what I mean, as you won't possibly think it can be as bad as everyone has been saying. It IS that bad.

The days were a bit ordinary, but husband and wife got along well, and they treated each other with respect. Yet Dongting was not so lucky. Her past bit by bit once again fell on her. Third Prince put on a hypocritical show of affection and attempted to obtain her and thereby obtain the world.

Dongting saw the vicious, cruel Third Prince and was itching to hack him to pieces, but when she thought of what she had endured in her previous life, she felt that killing him would be too good for him.

She wanted to spare him and ruthlessly torment him instead. With Dongting and Song Yuming working together, they exposed Third Prince’s many evils. The emperor was furious and stripped Third Prince of his conferred title at once and reduced him to a commoner. Third Prince from then on was melancholy and lacking in ambition. After all this, Dongting went to see Third Prince and told him everything that had happened in her previous life.

Third Prince suddenly realized that everything that had happened to him had been Dongting’s doing. In his anger he wanted to kill her, but Song Yuming came to the rescue. Because he had plotted to murder the wife of the crown prince, Third Prince was ordered by the emperor to commit suicide.

This is more than half of the chapter by the way. There are maybe 10 more sentences. Each sentence was double spaced by it self, but I condensed them into three paragraphs so it didn't take up space needlessly.

In the novel, while the third prince (the villain who used her in her last life, not a spoiler as it's spoken about in the first chapter) is talked about here and there in her thoughts, he hasn't even shown up in the novel! Suddenly he shows up, tries to get her, then gets schemed against by her and her husband, then finally dies all in less than ten sentences.

It's obvious that the author just didn't want to write anymore, and couldn't even bothered to put in any effort to at least SOMEWHAT end the novel naturally. At first I thought the translator decided not to translator anymore, and just offered a summary of the rest of the book. Sadly, that's not the case. This novel was abandoned, and because of that, I don't think it should be considered a complete novel.

To speak really quickly about the novel content itself, I'm not really impressed. The interactions between the couple isn't really anything interesting or super heartwarming/fluffy. She gets jealous a few times, almost a bit unreasonably since they just met/married. He doubts her identity once, but it's cleared up within a chapter or two (TINY chapters, I might add.) Then the novel just ends.

Don't read this. While it may not take up a lot of your time, it will leave a bad taste in your mouth. <<less

A pretty good read, with MC who knows getting revenge is tiring and ML who really is trying to escape from the intrigue of the royals. The romance is a bit too abrupt on ML side in my opinion, but nothing so bad I guess. There were lots of foreshadowing at first, but as Chiaroscuro said the ending was very disappointing and full of questions.

  • Whatever happened with the monk and green/blue robed gentleman she saw in her dream and why they appeared?
  • MC was explained to be the current emperor's younger brother, but in the last chapter he was actually the emperor's son like wtf?
  • MC was determined to help her elder sister from her miscarriage, but nothing was said about her at the end.
  • Mama Qiao was supposed to have had a relationship with the emperor, but what exactly was the relationship? Lover? Adviser?
  • ML's childhood sweetheart sent assassins to capture/kill MC, but no mention of her at the end of the novel, like wtf.

I mean, I don't expect the story to be without plotholes, but the ending was just too sudden it just downgrade the overall goodness of the novel. 3 stars for good translation and for being such a short novel from me.

It's not a bad story but it seems like the author got tired and writing and just decided to end it. It's like your walking along outside minding your own business and *BAM* suddenly walk into a pole out of no where. That's how I felt, this story ended with no build up. Just oh by the way this is what happened to the couple in the future "The End". Lets just say I felt like a wasted my Sunday after reading that ending.

This is a rather goodly written story. Like many others, it started good then it dwindles and finally, simply doesn't deliver. It could've been much more but I guess either the author got lazy or lost interest on it.

It started fluffy and with just a right amount of premonitions. I like the MC isn't hell bent on revenge but just simply want to thrive. The start was fluffy and sweet. Very slice of life ish. And the latter part was intense.

Actually both are cliche protagonists. In which MC is smart,... more>> beautiful and talented. The downside was she's a songstress (albeit a pure one). ML is also a dashing, handsome hero.

And I really like the romance and the plot *sigh*

4.5 stars at the beginning, 1 star for tr*shy ending, and I don't mean it as bad ending, it's actually happy ending.

author just.... Ruined their own novel. Basically the last chapter is a summary of what author might intended to write. The rushed and abrupt ending was really... tr*sh... Sorry author.

I was kinda pissed because there're proper premonitions and foreshadowing. With the monk and their pasts finally unveiled ugh... It's frustating... I Suggest if you wanna MTL this just skip the entire novel and read the last chapter lol <<less

I like it a whole lot especially the male lead aaaa

The story is about a girl that has been reborn after being betrayed, but she didn't seek revenge (so far) and just wanted to enjoy a peaceful life with an ordinary man plus the man is very considerate and gentle towards her

... more>> He washed the dishes for her because the water is cold

He waited for her consent to consummate the marriage

He didn't resent her for being a songstress (usually a prostitute but not for her case)

“I’m not used to saving up money. Usually I would just take whatever little I earned into town and buy wine with it. Now that I have you, don’t worry. It won’t be like that anymore.”

This is simple but heartwarming because it shows that the man is willing to change himself for his wife

All and all this story is great and the translation is also meticulous, showing support for the translator ❤️♥️❤️♥️

Keep up the good work ? <<less

If you want to read a novel to the end, don't read this novel. But if you are just here to pass some time, reading the first 69 chapters should be worthwhile. It's not the best written one, but it's decent. My only advice is to not read the last chapter. Just let your imagination work. Trust me, it's so much better than reading chapter 70.

I wanted to give a 4 starts rating for the 1st 69 chapters. I wish I never read the 70th.

It is horrible. All of a... more>> sudden, a lot of plot twists were summarized in one chapter. THE END.

I don't want to pick on the author. Writing is really hard but I'd rather read a novel that's on hiatus and wait patiently for it to be picked up again. Even if it's never picked up, it should still be alright compared to something like this. I am so disappointed. <<less

Ignore the last chapter and this is five stars. Read about why it's a bad ending in spoiler. (Nothing specific on the ending details.)

Good plot, but the out of nowhere ending is worth coughing up some blood. The translator is right that it's abrupt and against the theme of the novel. Even so, I only knocked off a star. It's good enough to be 5 stars and the ending makes it a solid 4.5 novel. Read, but only after you prepare yourself to not get satisfaction from the final chapter.

So, this novel would’ve gotten a 5 star review from me for the first 69 chapters. Nice, fluffy, love the second chance and the ML hidden identity aspects. However, As others have said the ending is so rushed, major events happening in one sentence and leading in a weird direction as if they were the author’s notes on the plot. Seems super rushed. There are so many unfinished things, like...

1. Still some ambiguity on who the assassins were in the end - was it the emperor? Third prince?

2. How the ML suddenly became the crown prince when it was suggested that the ML’s older brother, the emperor, was trying to assassinate him? And there were so many other of the emperor’s sons in line for the throne, why were they bypassed all of a sudden?

3. What happened to that jealous Consort Chen?

4. The biggest logical flaw —> How they both suddenly decided to get embroiled in the capital life and battle for the throne, full of scheming when all along for the first 69 chapters they clearly wanted to escape that life

5. The details on how they went about crushing the 3rd prince, or what actually happened when he came to the village

6. What happened to that PM’s daughter with the white cat, and how the MC got revenge on her

7. What happened to MC’s eldest sister’s situation and her baby

So yeah, I would still say it’s worth reading for the first 69 chapters. I’m just gonna make up an alternate ending in my head, where they both

live happily ever after in their little village while everyone in the capital is miserable scheming and shedding blood for the throne or something

Anyways, kudos to the translator for carrying through with this project! <<less

So far I love where the story is heading. Instead of the usual reincarnation and revenge and overpowering scenario we have the FL wanting an honest and simple life. Will see how it turns out later when more drama come out with the ML’s identity.

The novel got cut. At ch69, it is still setting up the story, introducing more problems and how the characters may try to solve it. At Ch70 it is a sudden and abrubt sumary of the entire rest of the story (esentially no better than a forum spoiler).

I think its clear something went very wrong on the authors end of things and rather than leave the novel unfinnished, they just gave us what was presumably another 100+ planned chapters in 1. I was honestly shocked since the story had barely... more>> even begun.

Arcs that we never got to see:

- the whole story

-MC & ML flee out to sea and presumably have adventures avoiding detection by the emperor/3rd prince

-the realization they cant keep fleeing and need to fight back

-MCs little sister in danger of being taken by the 3rd prince and/or dying an early death

-MCs older sister being schemed against and her 2 kids who have yet to be born (1 of whom is supposed to die and they have to save)

-MCs getting revenge on the 3rd prince for killing her in her past life

-A dozen characters that are set up but we never get to meet (such as the 2 mysterious doctors, the fourtune tellers, generals, and secret martial aritists, THE 3RD PRINCE AKA THE PRIMARY ANTAGONIST, the woman with the white cat AKA THE OTHER PRIMARY ANTAGONIST, The MLs older brother who wants him dead AKA THE EMPEROR)

-the MC & ML going back to the capital and gaining power/support

-the MC & ML taking the throne

-what the deal was with all those prophecies. Who was the pheonix and who was meant to aid the dragon. Were they lies made up by the MCs mom or actual prophecies from the capital.

-whats up with the MCs weird nightmares about monks

-fight scenes. Its set up to be martial arts based world with prophecy & some kinds of supernatural abilities. we only get told about it beriefly a few times though

^^ esentially THE ENTIRE STORY is missing

Which is a shame bc it has a pretty decent setup. the characters are fun and likeable (even if our MC is a bit prone to suspicion and tantrums)... but even the events that ARE written are a bit dissapointing... mainly the only important event we actually get to see:

which is when our MC finds out the ML is a prince and confesses that shes dreamed of the future/had another life. Up to this point, she had reacted to any mention of the royal family with PANIC and SHEER TERROR. but then he confesses what should be her worst fear (that hes secretly a royal, bc that means he might be using her for the prophecy) and she seems to not only NOT CARE but kinda brushes it aside as if its not SUPER IMPORTANT AND CHANGES EVERYTHING. Its the same way the ML kinda brushes aside the revelation that the MC has had dreams of the future. We dont even get a good answer whether he belives her or still thinks shes a spy (and loves her anyway). The emotional payout is super dissapointing for what should be one of the story's most important scenes. They do not turn around and start working together to fix the future and solve their problems. instead they act like nothing happened and casually make plans to avoid everything by going out to sea. presumably the point they realize they cant avoid the future forever and talk a bit more about it happens much later in the missing chapters

It started out good. The interaction between the couple was sweet. But the ending was just too ABRUPT. Its like the author suddenly lost interest in the novel and decided to just finish it off. Maybe the author thought that this ending was rather better than keeping the novel on hold infinitely. Anyway the so-called conclusion was very shocking and left me speechless.. Lol

It was cute, it was fluffly and had potential... but the Author sort of decided that it wasn´t worth it to keep going so he just gave it a quick death. *me with the novel´s plot like " (X_X) ☜ (◉▂◉) OH SHIET IT DIED"*

The MC was good, nothing super extraordinary but likeable and pretty humane. (。・ω・。)

The ML was great, a complete tease but still warm and really up to standars, he gave me the feeling that having a powerful and infuent ML that was always into politics or... more>> military wasn´t actually as great as others put it and it was better if he simply was loving (no matter the class). (♥_♥)

As a said, it is really sad how it ended (talking about the content AND the presentation of it) thus the ranking but... it did have it´s fluffiness so if you don´t really care about the story itself and are just looking for fluff go ahead I guess. ┐ ( ̄ー ̄) ┌

Thanks Translator for your work... and I suppose Author for giving it a swift death instead of just discontinuing it.

Read at your own discretion, you have been warned! (ভ_ ভ) ރ <<less

A lovely romantic story that's build upon mutual consent,
(god, I can't believe I even have to praise this aspect since chinese web novels these days always seem so darn r*pe-y) fondness out of adoration not perversion (again, seriously, so rare these days for chinese web novels) with quite a big age gap but still understandable enough in their circumstance. There's hardly and dog blood drama or white lotuses and green tea b*tches that's constantly buzzing the lead's faces like flies. I like where the... more>> focus was, and up until the last chapter- it was amazing.
It ends abruptly at chapter 70 with a narrated summary of the ending, giving off a feeling it has either been abandoned or axed.

Given that it ended in a very stereotypical way with actual lots more stereotypical TV melodrama and angst, I'm glad it ended the way it ended, even if it was a terrible way to end it. <<less

Just like the title, it was quick ?

It's a quick read, but the ending is just too abrupt.. Was enjoying a nice, fluffy novel until chapter 69, but everything was concluded in chapter 70 so suddenly

It feels like a long foreplay then got an instant cum ?

This novel can be elongated until another one hundred chapters I think..

ok y'all. Everything was so cute and great. But -1star because the author literally shot themselves in the foot with the abrupt ending. LikE. WHaT The! I mean, you do get an "ending, "

but it's more like a summary of the rest of the plot, sort of like a rough draft that the author had for the ending. The last chapter says something like "third prince tried to kill dongting (fl) but then yuming (ml) saves her." likE. Would like the ending actually told to us with character dialogue, setting, and more detailed narration, not a summary.

there's not really that much revenge that plays out, though it is told how FL gets her revenge, again, in the last chapter in the most stale manner possible.

however, I think that doesn't really have the be the most important part of reincarnation stories, since I think it was important that FL tried to distance herself from revenge and the palace life. Although, again, with the ending

she basically becomes empress, I believe, which just seems to slap all the previous chapters in the face. This is also the fault of the last chapter, since we aren't even given a hint of explanation as to why she allows all this to happen. Even if the explanation is that she had greed/ambition for the throne, that's better than the passive stance FL seems to have at the end.

this still only gets 1 star off though, because the story is really sweet. The characters are relatively down to earth, especially with the translator's writing style that makes the dialogue between the FL and ML flow incredibly smoothly.

just kidding (maybe) about the down to earth part. The ML dotes on the FL a lot and I just really like to read that stuff. HAhA.

so it's a cute and really nice read! Short and sweet. Except the last part. HAhA. <<less

The development was really good. I like the interaction between the MC and ML. There was no romantic feelings between them at the start. Afterall, it's an arrange marriage. However, both MC and ML respected each other as husband and wife. They gradually cultivated feelings towards each other as the story progresses and there were some hints here and there of a greater plot.

And then out of nowhere it ENDED! Like WTF!

Honestly you can just not read chapter 70 so that your memories of the previous events of the... more>> story won't be ruined. Just assume the novel was dropped and stop at 69.

I rated this last year but didn't write a review because I was pissed off by the ending. In my opinion, if the author doesn't want to continue the story anymore then it's better to just stop it and not add anything unnecessary. It's better to let a story hanging than ruin a good start. <<less

From the beginning till the 2nd to the last chapter, the story moved very slowly. It centered on their daily lives, their interactions with their neighbors, and her family. It was very fluffy and nice but honestly? It was very boring because on how short the chapters are. In other fluffy novels they are also slow moving but at the end of every chapters, you can feel the progression of their relationship. Here, the development is after 2 or 3 chapters.

The ending was such a disappointment. It came out of... more>> nowhere that even the translator considered it a bad ending. It goes against everything the MC wanted since the beginning.

If you're going to read this, ignore the garbage ending and just treat this novel as hiatus and create your own ending. The only reason I didnt rate this 1 is because the translator did a decebt job translating this. <<less

Reading first 5 chapters my thought is "ah I found a good fluffy novel like assassin farmer". Last 3 chapter, "ups it's near the end even though there're a lot of plot unfinished. Maybe the ending will be cut, not minding other's problem". Last chapter: "Did I read it right? Is this from the translator? Is it only 70 chapters?"

last chapter is really abrupt. Only a summary for the ending. It's like: they went to capital, expose third prince scheme then told him that MC is reborn so this is MC revenge

I kinda resent the author a little bit, it will be better if you put hiatus/dropped than making a rush not make sense ending. <<less
