The story had some really cute and fluffy moments. If you want something that doesn't require too much thinking, this was a suitable read.

However, like everyone else, the ending was too abrupt and it felt like the author just wanted to end it.

From the beginning till the 2nd to the last chapter, the story moved very slowly. It centered on their daily lives, their interactions with their neighbors, and her family. It was very fluffy and nice but honestly? It was very boring because on how short the chapters are. In other fluffy novels they are also slow moving but at the end of every chapters, you can feel the progression of their relationship. Here, the development is after 2 or 3 chapters.

The ending was such a disappointment. It came out of... more>> nowhere that even the translator considered it a bad ending. It goes against everything the MC wanted since the beginning.

If you're going to read this, ignore the garbage ending and just treat this novel as hiatus and create your own ending. The only reason I didnt rate this 1 is because the translator did a decebt job translating this. <<less

Really shocked that this can be considered a completed novel. Not the translation, I mean, but the actual novel itself. Everything was going fine, a bit slow paced but fine until chapter 70. Out of absolutely no where, the author decided to end the novel. There was no leading up to it. There was no.. "Hmm, this seems like a good spot to end things". Nothing had even happened yet besides the female lead meeting the male lead and marrying. The chapter before was her worrying that her sister would... more>> end up taking her place and going through what she did in her previous life.

Here is an excerpt of the last chapter to show what I mean, as you won't possibly think it can be as bad as everyone has been saying. It IS that bad.

Spoiler

The days were a bit ordinary, but husband and wife got along well, and they treated each other with respect. Yet Dongting was not so lucky. Her past bit by bit once again fell on her. Third Prince put on a hypocritical show of affection and attempted to obtain her and thereby obtain the world.

Dongting saw the vicious, cruel Third Prince and was itching to hack him to pieces, but when she thought of what she had endured in her previous life, she felt that killing him would be too good for him.

She wanted to spare him and ruthlessly torment him instead. With Dongting and Song Yuming working together, they exposed Third Prince’s many evils. The emperor was furious and stripped Third Prince of his conferred title at once and reduced him to a commoner. Third Prince from then on was melancholy and lacking in ambition. After all this, Dongting went to see Third Prince and told him everything that had happened in her previous life.

Third Prince suddenly realized that everything that had happened to him had been Dongting’s doing. In his anger he wanted to kill her, but Song Yuming came to the rescue. Because he had plotted to murder the wife of the crown prince, Third Prince was ordered by the emperor to commit suicide.

[collapse]

This is more than half of the chapter by the way. There are maybe 10 more sentences. Each sentence was double spaced by it self, but I condensed them into three paragraphs so it didn't take up space needlessly.

In the novel, while the third prince (the villain who used her in her last life, not a spoiler as it's spoken about in the first chapter) is talked about here and there in her thoughts, he hasn't even shown up in the novel! Suddenly he shows up, tries to get her, then gets schemed against by her and her husband, then finally dies all in less than ten sentences.

It's obvious that the author just didn't want to write anymore, and couldn't even bothered to put in any effort to at least SOMEWHAT end the novel naturally. At first I thought the translator decided not to translator anymore, and just offered a summary of the rest of the book. Sadly, that's not the case. This novel was abandoned, and because of that, I don't think it should be considered a complete novel.

To speak really quickly about the novel content itself, I'm not really impressed. The interactions between the couple isn't really anything interesting or super heartwarming/fluffy. She gets jealous a few times, almost a bit unreasonably since they just met/married. He doubts her identity once, but it's cleared up within a chapter or two (TINY chapters, I might add.) Then the novel just ends.

Don't read this. While it may not take up a lot of your time, it will leave a bad taste in your mouth. <<less

A pretty good read, with MC who knows getting revenge is tiring and ML who really is trying to escape from the intrigue of the royals. The romance is a bit too abrupt on ML side in my opinion, but nothing so bad I guess. There were lots of foreshadowing at first, but as Chiaroscuro said the ending was very disappointing and full of questions.

Spoiler
  • Whatever happened with the monk and green/blue robed gentleman she saw in her dream and why they appeared?
  • MC was explained to be the current emperor's younger brother, but in the last chapter he was actually the emperor's son like wtf?
  • MC was determined to help her elder sister from her miscarriage, but nothing was said about her at the end.
  • Mama Qiao was supposed to have had a relationship with the emperor, but what exactly was the relationship? Lover? Adviser?
  • ML's childhood sweetheart sent assassins to capture/kill MC, but no mention of her at the end of the novel, like wtf.
[collapse]

I mean, I don't expect the story to be without plotholes, but the ending was just too sudden it just downgrade the overall goodness of the novel. 3 stars for good translation and for being such a short novel from me.

It's not a bad story but it seems like the author got tired and writing and just decided to end it. It's like your walking along outside minding your own business and *BAM* suddenly walk into a pole out of no where. That's how I felt, this story ended with no build up. Just oh by the way this is what happened to the couple in the future "The End". Lets just say I felt like a wasted my Sunday after reading that ending.

This is a rather goodly written story. Like many others, it started good then it dwindles and finally, simply doesn't deliver. It could've been much more but I guess either the author got lazy or lost interest on it.

It started fluffy and with just a right amount of premonitions. I like the MC isn't hell bent on revenge but just simply want to thrive. The start was fluffy and sweet. Very slice of life ish. And the latter part was intense.

Actually both are cliche protagonists. In which MC is smart,... more>> beautiful and talented. The downside was she's a songstress (albeit a pure one). ML is also a dashing, handsome hero.

And I really like the romance and the plot *sigh*

4.5 stars at the beginning, 1 star for trashy ending, and I don't mean it as bad ending, it's actually happy ending.

author just.... Ruined their own novel. Basically the last chapter is a summary of what author might intended to write. The rushed and abrupt ending was really... Trash... Sorry author.

I was kinda pissed because there're proper premonitions and foreshadowing. With the monk and their pasts finally unveiled ugh... It's frustating... I Suggest if you wanna MTL this just skip the entire novel and read the last chapter lol <<less

I like it a whole lot especially the male lead aaaa

#fangirlingrightnow

The story is about a girl that has been reborn after being betrayed, but she didn't seek revenge (so far) and just wanted to enjoy a peaceful life with an ordinary man plus the man is very considerate and gentle towards her

... more>> He washed the dishes for her because the water is cold

He waited for her consent to consummate the marriage

He didn't resent her for being a songstress (usually a prostitute but not for her case)

“I’m not used to saving up money. Usually I would just take whatever little I earned into town and buy wine with it. Now that I have you, don’t worry. It won’t be like that anymore.”

This is simple but heartwarming because it shows that the man is willing to change himself for his wife

All and all this story is great and the translation is also meticulous, showing support for the translator ❤️♥️❤️♥️

Keep up the good work 🙈 <<less

Good plot, but the abrupt ending is worth coughing up some blood. Even so, I only knocked off a star. Read, but after you prepare yourself.

So, this novel would’ve gotten a 5 star review from me for the first 69 chapters. Nice, fluffy, love the second chance and the ML hidden identity aspects. However, As others have said the ending is so rushed, major events happening in one sentence and leading in a weird direction as if they were the author’s notes on the plot. Seems super rushed. There are so many unfinished things, like...

Spoiler

1. Still some ambiguity on who the assassins were in the end - was it the emperor? Third prince?

2. How the ML suddenly became the crown prince when it was suggested that the ML’s older brother, the emperor, was trying to assassinate him? And there were so many other of the emperor’s sons in line for the throne, why were they bypassed all of a sudden?

3. What happened to that jealous Consort Chen?

4. The biggest logical flaw —> How they both suddenly decided to get embroiled in the capital life and battle for the throne, full of scheming when all along for the first 69 chapters they clearly wanted to escape that life

5. The details on how they went about crushing the 3rd prince, or what actually happened when he came to the village

6. What happened to that PM’s daughter with the white cat, and how the MC got revenge on her

7. What happened to MC’s eldest sister’s situation and her baby

[collapse]

So yeah, I would still say it’s worth reading for the first 69 chapters. I’m just gonna make up an alternate ending in my head, where they both

Spoiler

live happily ever after in their little village while everyone in the capital is miserable scheming and shedding blood for the throne or something

[collapse]

Anyways, kudos to the translator for carrying through with this project! <<less

If you want to read a novel to the end, don't read this novel. But if you are just here to pass some time, reading the first 69 chapters should be worthwhile. It's not the best written one, but it's decent. My only advice is to not read the last chapter. Just let your imagination work. Trust me, it's so much better than reading chapter 70.

I wanted to give a 4 starts rating for the 1st 69 chapters. I wish I never read the 70th.

It is horrible. All of a... more>> sudden, a lot of plot twists were summarized in one chapter. THE END.

I don't want to pick on the author. Writing is really hard but I'd rather read a novel that's on hiatus and wait patiently for it to be picked up again. Even if it's never picked up, it should still be alright compared to something like this. I am so disappointed. <<less

So far I love where the story is heading. Instead of the usual reincarnation and revenge and overpowering scenario we have the FL wanting an honest and simple life. Will see how it turns out later when more drama come out with the ML’s identity.

ok y'all. Everything was so cute and great. But -1star because the author literally shot themselves in the foot with the abrupt ending. LikE. WHaT The! I mean, you do get an "ending, "

Spoiler

but it's more like a summary of the rest of the plot, sort of like a rough draft that the author had for the ending. The last chapter says something like "third prince tried to kill dongting (fl) but then yuming (ml) saves her." likE. Would like the ending actually told to us with character dialogue, setting, and more detailed narration, not a summary.

[collapse]

there's not really that much revenge that plays out, though it is told how FL gets her revenge, again, in the last chapter in the most stale manner possible.

however, I think that doesn't really have the be the most important part of reincarnation stories, since I think it was important that FL tried to distance herself from revenge and the palace life. Although, again, with the ending

Spoiler

she basically becomes empress, I believe, which just seems to slap all the previous chapters in the face. This is also the fault of the last chapter, since we aren't even given a hint of explanation as to why she allows all this to happen. Even if the explanation is that she had greed/ambition for the throne, that's better than the passive stance FL seems to have at the end.

[collapse]

this still only gets 1 star off though, because the story is really sweet. The characters are relatively down to earth, especially with the translator's writing style that makes the dialogue between the FL and ML flow incredibly smoothly.

just kidding (maybe) about the down to earth part. The ML dotes on the FL a lot and I just really like to read that stuff. HAhA.

so it's a cute and really nice read! Short and sweet. Except the last part. HAhA. <<less

Just like the title, it was quick 😂

It's a quick read, but the ending is just too abrupt.. Was enjoying a nice, fluffy novel until chapter 69, but everything was concluded in chapter 70 so suddenly

Spoiler

It feels like a long foreplay then got an instant cum 😓

[collapse]

This novel can be elongated until another one hundred chapters I think..

Reading first 5 chapters my thought is "ah I found a good fluffy novel like assassin farmer". Last 3 chapter, "ups it's near the end even though there're a lot of plot unfinished. Maybe the ending will be cut, not minding other's problem". Last chapter: "Did I read it right? Is this from the translator? Is it only 70 chapters?"

Spoiler

last chapter is really abrupt. Only a summary for the ending. It's like: they went to capital, expose third prince scheme then told him that MC is reborn so this is MC revenge

[collapse]

I kinda resent the author a little bit, it will be better if you put hiatus/dropped than making a rush not make sense ending. <<less

I can't give it 5 stars because of the ending.

It looks like the author just got tired of writing the story and tacked on 500 words that amount to 'and they lived happily ever after'... only it's not really the life either of the leads wanted and we're left with a lot of loose ends.

Such a pity. But the story is worth reading for the first 69 chapters. Xue Dongting and Song Yuming are a really sweet couple.

Gave it a 4 because the story started off with a good premise. The first 69 chapters had fairly good pacing, characters were likeable and believeable, and there was enough plot intrigue to keep readers hooked. But just when the MC and ML were slowly building their relationship and the intricate plot details were all set in place, the story ended abruptly.

I'm concerned for the author; did they encounter an emergency? Why did the story end like that, especially in summary format? It just was really unsatisfying since everything was... more>> building up and there was literally no climax or resolution to the story. The end or conclusion of the story was summarized in the "last chapter" really quickly. It sounded more like an outline the author had in mind when planning the story than a chapter. But at least readers know what happens even if the author gave up on the story so no cliff hangers to worry about. <<less

The story and characters were engaging. Honestly, it's been a great read, although the ending leaves a lot to be wanted. It felt like the author needed to drop off of the face of the earth or something. This novel could have easily been a novel with over 100 chapters. It feels like the last chapter was the author's rough draft of the plot. It makes me want to write my own version of the continuation of the story.

The whole story had a lot of potential, but it seems the author gave it up. Unfortunately, the schemes and politics are left flat with the ending. Actually, I can't even really call it an ending; the last chapter reads more like an outline summary for what direction the author wanted this story to take.

It's a shame because all the chapters before the last were done pretty well in terms of storytelling and plot, and even the side characters had a lot of personality and were pretty fleshed out too.... more>> The translation was great too!

For those who just want to read a sweet romance between a former imperial concubine, reliving her second life as a fisherman's wife, and a fisherman, who's secretly an OP character, I'd still give this a go for that aspect, because that part is at least written out and is done well (plus, it's a quick read with only 69 real chapters). But if you also want to go into the political intrigue and palace drama, be warned that this story does not play those parts out to their respective ends. <<less

It felt like they were just a few chapters short before finishing the first introduction arc when the author suddenly decided he didn't want to write anymore. There wasn't even a lead up to an ending. Ch69 was a normal chapter then Ch70 was just a timeline of events ending.

Story was good up until the ending. The MC wasn't some all knowing revenge driven mary sue protagonist, but just an ordinary girl who knew a few thing and wanted to be away from it all.

I do like the lovey dovey interaction between the FL and ML. Also, it's not so cliche like how they confront the problems.

However, I'm not satisfied with the ending. It's like it just abruptly doned!

If you like such fluffy cuddle couple, just read it and think that this novel is just unfinished. That's all.

The author appears to have simply decided not to finish this book. By chapter 69, the last real chapter, it was about a third of the way done in therms of introduced and unresolved plotlines but in chapter 70, they did brief summary of how it ended instead of finishing the book. The danger the older sister was in was ignored and not mentioned. The fact that the husband didn't want the ending that was tacked on last we knew was also ignored. Seemingly important characters were introduced and not... more>> shown again. Foreshadowing were also ignored and unresolved. The 'ending' wasn't just lazy, it was insulting to the reader's intelligence.

As for what was there, while there was some nice interaction between characters, the author created an unnecessary age difference and reminded us of it way too often. There was no plot reason for the ML to be almost twice the age of the MC. He could have had exactly the same life and still been 8 years younger, nor did the female lead need to be as 'legal this year? Marry her off!' even for as she was, given the fact that there was no pressing need for her to marry with her social status (in fact, it should have been more difficult to arrange a marriage) --and the frequent reminders of the age difference during s*x scenes was both squicky and equally unnecessary. Plus side, no excused r*pe here. That's uncommon enough to give the author a tip of the hat for that.

While the plot that was started was quite interesting and and the husband's genuine love for his wife and lack of rapeyness was refreshing, there's not enough here to make this worth reading in light of the fact that the author couldn't be bothered to finish it <<less

The story is quite good actually, the warm and fluffy relationship of FL and ML is the highlight of the story.

The narration of the author and translator is good too. But I think the author wants to drop the project, because the ending was soooooo abrubt and didn't have many conclusion.
