Description

Have you heard? There’s a certain kind of person in this world, who, even without any substantial contact, and with just a flash of thought, can discern a lot.

Their eyes have the ability to penetrate through to the past, to clarify the present and to break the veil of the future. They can see what you see through your eyes, smell what you smell through your nose, taste what you taste through your tongue, and can even perceive what you think through your heart.

This kind of a person is called—a psychic.

A story about the awakening of a ‘guabi’, who is merely plodding through life, from his deep slumber. (*guabi, a slang term, meaning ‘dead idiot’ = people who are penniless and jobless)

Entertaining to read when you're bored, but I wouldn't consider it great or anything.

Like others mentioned, it's just an infodump of tragic backstories and MC faceslapping people throughout the whole novel. The netizens and everyone else tr*sh him because they don't believe him and then apologize because they didn't realize how amazing he was. It's all rather mindless. So while I wouldn't say this is an example of good writing or ever recommend it to anyone, I might finish reading this when it's fully translated if I'm bored and have... more>> nothing else to do.

KEEP IN MIND, THIS CAN BE EXTREMELY TRIGGERING TO READ to help to author fill up the chapters when she talks about victim's stories there can be graphic descriptions of

tbh now that I think about its uncomfortable how many terrible things the author writes about happening to various children in order to get readers worked up and hate the villains <<less

Ok at 167, the summary: this novel is currently the definition of fake deep. Yes, you were baited. The quality you came into is not the same as you continue to read past case 1-3 fyi. The writing isn't even mediocre now; it's dumb wow.

Spoiler

just because this is a supernatural novel DOESN'T f*ckIN MEAN IT DOESN'T HAVE TO MAKE SENSE. Tell me why there are so many obviously dumb and or evil characters with ABSOLUTELY NO DIMENSIONS whatsoever?? TELL ME WHY THE GOVERNMENT IS ALLOWED TO mu*der PEOPLE (they pretty much willingly allowed that girl to get stronger at the expense of all the ppl she killed and will kill - that's what I mean by that statement) TO CREATE HUMAN WEAPONS. (Let me define "mean sense" for you, I mean THE AUTHOR DIDNT EVEN EXPLAIN THIS TO THE READER!!! MAKE IT MAKE SENSE TO ME!! I need to be guided there not hit with a sledgehammer and be told ya "that's just a sledgehammer that exists now. Why? Who cares" Well no sh*t mf) TELL WHY THE IF THE MC KNOWS THE PRESENT PAST AND FUTURE HE STILL CANT SEE EVERYTHING COMING??? Do not tell me one thing and ignore it at your convenience at certain times. This reads like a superhero cartoon comic. It doesn't make sense. But the problem is that this is not placed in an alternate world bc it was OBVIOUSLY WRITTEN to be in the modern day at the moment supernatural events start to become public. SO DONT MAKE RANDOM DECISIONS THAT WOULDN'T MAKE SENSE OUT OF NO WHER when you tell me something else has to make sense and exist bc that exists in the real modern day. YOU CANT HAVE BOTH. YOU CAN'T DEPEND ON BOTH. either get better writing skills, do a worlding building explanation paragraph and build your own world OR MAKE SENSE WITH PUTTING THIS IN MODERN DAY. It's doable! Supernatural can be logically written in modern day! YOU WERE DOING IT FINE FOR THE FIRST 5 CASES. and what number case is this idk? But f*ck this potential. Seriously everyone is dumb but the leads. It's pathetic. No 3d characters. It's really pathetic only bc the writing went from heaven to earth and then now hell so quick. There is no use of dramatic irony, there is no foreshadowing, there's no tension, there's no literary device at play other than a lack of brain cells and enjoyment for the hell of it and f*ckin netizens. I don't care if this is bad writing. I care that I was baited to think it was so good in the beginning. Smh. Don't have expectations. Read it if you want a superhero comic

Regarding chps before 160ish:
Spoiler

Imo it is very obvious that the author when conceptualizing this novel, fully planned out the first and second case with some of the third. The author probably outlined those completely and had some concept of a way they wanted to end the entire novel as well, but the stuff In-between was made on the go imo. Essentially the basis of this novel was probably the first case. Bc that's the one that has the god tier writing. Regardless, the very evident drop in writing quality begins with the variety tv show (specifically probably the 4th ep shooting around there). Does it mean it is bad writing? No. But it is not the same. In fact arguably I think the author changed the MC's personality very slightly to be able to fit in the romance with the ml. Arguably it could be considered "character growth" but sure. The difference between the definition of growth and change is the difference in the writing ok. All I'm saying is that..... f*ck variety tv show plots sincerely. No one ever makes anyone besides the leads look smart in them I swear to f*ck. The concept of logic literally disappears in them; it's mind blowing. /Rant

This is still for what it's worth highly entertaining "crime" (the crime is more or less less well written as we go on and that is why I added the "") and supernatural novel. If you like the idea of superheroes, you might like this -- don't get me wrong there aren't any, but the concept of the powers are there.

[collapse]

@ch 164: here we rest in peace the potential of this novel to be the supernatural version of silent reading and any chance of it being a reasonable novel, although it is technically still kinda entertaining. And rip.

Reminder to your logic that a reality tv contract is not a s*ave contract:
Spoiler

"I regret to tell you that refusal is not allowed. Starting today, I will be the chief director of this show." The villain asking the psychics to battle royale for a reality tv show....

Based on the writing style and skills, it is a straight 10/10. The author has a way of executing emotions, depicting the way how humans are like when they become a s*ave to their desires. A lot of books have the same concept but what makes it special for this particular book, the reader gets to read things from the perspective of someone who is detached from said desires. Judging from right and wrong to reward criminals with that sweet revenge.

The novel can be lengthy to read even though it... more>> is only around 300 chapters. Mostly because of how the much information the author gives. Sometimes it is info-dumping; but to be fair, no one would understand anything if there wasn't some info-dumping. It just goes to show how massive of a brain the author has. Makes me want to get down on my knees and worship the author because the amount of beautiful wording, exquisite ideas and plot-points flow together.

On the plot, I give it a 8.5/10. The plot was amazing, although from the earlier arcs, it seems to be individual cases. Only when it goes to more of the showbiz arc, the entirety of the novel got an extra backbone to it. You wouldn't notice it while reading but once you've finished the whole thing, you'll see how the little details and plots all converged into this one huge nebula of a story. Everything is connected and you'll see it near the end of the story.

For stories like these, I think a lot of people dropped it after the third case so they left negative reviews, I myself have some doubts about this novel due to those reviews. However, I am really glad that I decided to stick with the novel because it is a masterpiece. I am looking forward to reading more of this author's work because of how well they write their stories.

On another note, the ML and MC has such sweet interaction, their trust in each other is so sweet that I could feel my teeth starting to rot; not complaining though. <<less

I read this quite a while ago but I remember finding it so disappointing. I loved reading QWFOD so I thought the author would manage to write another good book.

The story just consists of a never-ending cycle of the MC cryptically warning someone, the internet getting outraged and them getting face-slapped in the end. I could skip half the book and still know what is going on.

Spoiler

The bit that just made me completely give up on this book is when the MC was accused of mu*dering someone and they had it on camera. At this point, a lot of people know about the powers some people have that can basically distort reality.

[collapse]
I could already predict what was going to happen. The MC would prove them wrong with the help of the ML and end up face-slapping them (as always).

Another point that frustrated me was that when the MC is getting accused (for what seems like the 100th time), the people that he helped in the past don't seem to speak out to help him. As soon as a side-character's arc is over, they're forgotten. From what I remember, I didn't seem to particularly like any side-character's either.

To summarise, both the MC and ML are unlikeable, the plot is unnecessarily convoluted, world-building is the bare minimum and the arcs are repetitive and predictable. <<less

After reading the 84 translated chapters, I got hooked on the book. I decided to MLT it. The translation was easy to read. I enjoyed the dark themes and mysteries. Human nature is fickle and throughout this book, you'll doubt and question the cruelty humans can inflict. The book's middle part felt dull and repetitive after the ML gets established and it felt like the ending was being speed-run.

Spoiler

During the first 100 chapters, the ML is a big mystery and it was super fun trying to guess who it was. (There were like 4 candidates) ML is Song Rui. They have an adopted kid together (the kid is dead though, his parents killed him). It was kinda weird that ML is a lawyer and psychologist at the same time? I guess the author wanted to make the ML OP so he doesn't pale in comparison to the MC.

[collapse]

One of the arcs I enjoyed was:

Spoiler

Some of the cases felt real. It can happen in reality which made the story feel interesting. Song Wen Wen's (Song Rui's cousin) boyfriend was a pe*ophile and eyeing her niece. She needed to make a tough choice, saving one child or other children that can fall into his hand if they decide to swipe it under the rug. The reactions of parents felt realistic even though it showed the harsh cruel reality. She chose to save more kids and sent that bastard to prison. They are scared that society will punish the victims that were harmed. My favorites crime-solving were the mundane crimes that were realistic and could happen in real life. For example, there was a wife that was constantly getting beat up by her husband. She was scared of him and felt helpless, but MC showed her that she needed to fight back and find her own independence. Watching the MC lending a hand to normal people living their life and exposing mu*derers was the bread and butter of the book. MC revealing his past and the crimes that Song Enci committed was also a big highlight of the book.

[collapse]

After the ML was established, the plot got repetitive from time to time. It usually goes like this: some cannon fodder acts arrogant and slander's MC--> the netizen slander him because they don't trust him-->turns out what the MC said was true--> netizen and the person who slandered him gets face slapped. The cycle keeps repeating again and again.

Spoiler

It was tiring to read netizens blaming and sending hate comments to MC even though MC has proven his abilities many times. When the plot started to move away from realism, the MC got mary sue. He just uses his OP powers to subdue the sus people with the jade power. Some of the villains are also really s*upid or stubborn for no reason. Even though the facts are laid in front of them, they still refuse the MC's help. MC gets painted as a saint in one moment and the devil in the next. When the plot started to bring in Taoism priests the plot went to supernatural power really fast. Some people actively cultivate. That felt super weird because it's a modern world. If cultivators are super powerful then why aren't there more people doing it? It felt like the author wanted to end the story ASAP and used cultivation to fill up the plot holes.

[collapse]

the plot:

Spoiler

The ending happened so fast that it can leave you confused about what you just read. The MC planned everything to the end. The big boss villain Song Enci, MC's senior sister, was a pawn in MC's big scheme. She killed MC in the past with a cruel method that made him experience hell. He wanted to break the yin-yang jade pedant so no one can become god anymore. Song Enci's past deeds will make your heart boil since she committed horrible crimes and only repented when she finally died. Her actions caused many people to die and she didn't feel sorry. She was spoiled rotten by her master, who was also MC's master. Master hates MC because he killed his brother, but MC was forced to kill his uncle because his uncle was trying to become a god. To become a god you need to sacrifice a lot of people so MC killed him to stop him from mass mu*dering. The MC becomes a god and kills her, but assimilates with the last dragon to save the whole world. Everyone forgets his existence except the kid and ML. Then he lowkey disappears for 3 years and comes back solving a crime. People that interacted with him before don't remember him but felt a deep connection. MC's brother and some rich dude are the side couples and I really liked how they rekindled their relationship. MC's brother wasn't real and his mother created him to make more money and controlled his life, but MC saved him. He bound his life to his boyfriend. (Lol the second couple had more romantic moments than the MC and ML) The ending is open-ended, but MC said he is a normal human now and can live with the ML. I don't think they even kissed or tumbled in the beds throughout the story. At least the ML saw the MC taking ice baths. I kinda wanted to see some action, but life.

[collapse]

If you can't handle some gore then this book might not be the one for you. The plot might get repetitive in the middle, but some of the cases were interesting to read. There were barely any romantic moments, so if you're reading for the romance then rip. It was a solid read if you want to read some crime-solving. <<less

I luuuuuv this. I love the way MC and ML both showed their vulnerability to each other and how compatible they are. I deadass thought ML was just another as*hole at first, like it didnt even occur to me the possibility that he may end up together with MC but as I got to know him better I found out just how precious his soul is. MC on the other hand just made me speechless. Idk like the way he acted I thought he just did what he wanted but... more>> in the end I realized his whole goal and I feel sorry for him to carry that burden especially in such a young age. The plot is straightforward with the main characters solving cases but the stories of each of them is gut wrenching, each and every story feels so realistic which made me feel the chills. BUT HOW COULD IT JUST END LIKE THAT. I WANT MORE PLEASE GIVE ME FLUFF AFTER ALL I'VE BEEN THROUGH. MC'S STORY WAS A HELL OF A MESS TO GET THROUGH. Oh and the way MC and ML shows intimacy to each other is just so sweet like jahdhdbejwishddbja it makes me smile foolishly like the s*upid person I am. <<less

This is one of the best maybe the best novel written by this author in my opinion. It's also the first novel I've mtl'd through to the end so that may be a testament to how good this novel is.

Its a bit gory and the romance is slow but it's really a must read. Although MC is op but it's still a bumpy ride for him and for readers too lol. I've shed a few tears reading this. 5/5/

I originally rated it a 5, but I've since changed my mind. It's not a bad story by any means, it can even be considered inspirational and positive. The writing is also fairly good, well paced, enough intrigue to keep you reading.

However, I think it goes a little too far in the "turn the other cheek" moral lesson. MC and the story is too lawful good, to a disappointing point.

Something horrible happens or has continuously happened over the course of a long time, there is a eventful build up, a... more>> character is on the verge of snapping. And then? Nothing. It fizzles out, MC in all his Holy Motherness flies in, saves them from themselves, and they turn to become wonderful new versions of themselves that simply... walk away from their abused past? Become perfectly adjusted members of society?

No, sorry, that feels cheap. Not only because the original sparks implied there was fireworks and it turns out to be duds, but because a large part of this novel brings attention to psychological aspects of trauma and abuse.

But this novel just goes "and after all these horrible things... all you gotta do it get over it and you'll be happy! :) MC says so!"

It starts off interesting, but when every single time it ends like this with no suspense, no lasting impact, no follow up, it just becomes disappointing. There is no satisfaction, no sense of accomplishment from overcoming trauma, no sense of struggle to come out on top of a bad situation.

It is all just, bathe in MC's aura, listen to his holy words, and you naturally end up happily ever after no matter what your problems may be.

How very dull.

The shift in focus into the entertainment industry is also very much pointless in my opinion. Not to mention counterproductive to how MC and ML conducts themselves in the beginning. It cheapens the arcs. <<less

I'm hooked...

I hope, I pray, I'm expecting this to get good... And it's Worth it!!!

The MC is not Apathetic, Indifferent, or Cold. He's COOL. He's Smooth. He has his own principles. He's just so different from the usual many type of Protagonist with the power he has. But this makes me Love him soooo much!!!

... more>> But also... Blinks... And you would almost miss some hints of his past... Suffering. I assume. Makes me wonder and worry about him...

I already get spoiled with who the ML is... And IT MAKE SENSE!

Anyway... I really love every time MC helps people when he can... And when people equally grateful with his help!

The theme sure is Heavy... So many suffering people... Dark for sure... And unexpected at times in how far the Fantasy theme played.

I really would love for more!!! Pray the translation won't stop till finish! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 <<less

I wanted to like this I genuinely do. I'm a big fan of horror and mystery novels so I was looking forward to this a lot but I'm disappointed. Based on the first few chapters, I was expecting the plot to revolve more around crime with supernatural elements instead of the entertainment industry. Well yes the MC do work with the police at the beginning but after he joined a Psychic variety show, it all went downhill. The plot became needlessly drama-filled. Halfway through the novel I actually wonder if... more>> I'm reading a pure showbiz novel. Yes there is the showbiz tag so I do know what I'm getting into, just that the novel arcs could've been better spread out.

You can read other reviews that explains the repetitive plot of, people's distrust towards MC when he tries to help -> cannon fodder/s and netizens slandering MC -> MC's prophecy turns out to the true -> netizens getting face-slapped and apologizes. I do love face-slapping but after reading 200+ chapters of it? It gets super boring. It also can't be helped that the netizens doesn't seem to ever learn and cannon fodders being needlessly antagonistic towards the MC. The netizens comments are also unneeded because the MC literally doesn't care about his reputation. He just doing his utmost part to help people╰ (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) つ──☆*:・゚

That said although the novel didn't turn out as good as I thought it would be, I do like the postive message conveyed. The way I interpret MC's role is that he is not God but a guide. For when you lose yourself, he is there to remind and lead you to the correct path only if you are willing to change. He cannot change your situation with a snap of a finger but instead you would have to take action to make it happen. The novel also explains Karma and incorporate it in many situations the characters face. I personally do quite like the MC. As for the romance-

Spoiler

As of chapter 209, they haven't got together yet. The ML is the pro-active one and MC accepts his approach. Not sure how MC feels about the ML but he does appreciate the ML and regards him as his only friend. Wouldn't recommend to readers who are looking for fiery romance because the romance is quite slow and uneventful.

[collapse]

I'll rate this a 3.5 (round up to a 4 because I like the overall message of the novel). I'll recommend this to readers who are into face-slapping but also wants a bit of mystery and thrill. Wouldn't recommend to binged this novel due to the repetitive plot and long chapters (><;)

MTL completed.

The plot twisted and turned from the beginning to end. Everything will be cleared once the villain got retribution.

There were several potential ML introduced in the initial chapters. The real ML was someone that truly support MC, eventho their first meeting was unpleasant.

Romance was minuscule, scarce and almost non existent skinship. This novel purely described what author meant to be a "psychic" is.

This is one of the stories that I really like. Every chapter gets me excited for the next one.

The Fan Jialuo, the MC, isn't the main focus of the story. While initially we are introduced to him, the focus is on the events he goes through. These events are more than what they appear and expose the loathsome side of humans. The reveal of each arc always surprises me, and each chapter is a good read. Also, finding out who the ML was was a challenge, but it makes sense... more>> once you find out.

This story is a good read for those who like twists and challenging one's morals. <<less

The MC is absolutely wonderful as is the ML. The two of them work so well together and they may not have a traditional romance, but it works best for them.
While reading the ending I truly cried, but I also felt very happy. It is a wonderfully rounded ending and everything is sorted out.

I really like this, this story definitely focus a lot more on the plot than the romance but you can see the chemistry right from the start. The good points of this novel is the genre, mystery, suspense, psychic powers, face-slapping. The bad point is the absence of extras.

Both MC and ML are extremely smart and extremely easy to fall in love with. Slow burn, made me cry in the end.

Honestly this is probably— in my opinion— the hilarious piece of work I’ve read (cut the unfortunate parts). I like that it doesn’t really show the MC but like shows the other characters and what they’re doing what they’re going through. It doesn’t just fixate on the MC, although I do wish they showed more about him like how’d he form and other stuff and elaborate more abt it cuz I did not understand shot when it came to that lol.

I did speculate who was going to be the ML... more>> (my favorite past time as I read this book) I always thought it’d be this person or the other but they’re usually straight, has a strong Second Lead aura, or it logically impossible.

But yeah I really like this book even though it’s not supposed to be funny but kinda serious action based novel. Kinda disappointed that I binged read this and finished in 2 days :/ <<less
