“Arrogant Prince. You’re not the only one who can toy with others.”

Valentia Syner, the greatest mind in all of the Imperial Academy’s history.

Her fellows at the academy called her “The Iron Maiden”. Some did it out of jealousy. Others, out of contempt. But no one ever approached Valentia. Even her own family avoided her.

The first person to ever reach out to Valentia was the playboy of the Imperial family—the Prince, Lexus.

“Who dares to slap the Imperial Prince?”

Their first meeting went terribly. They exchanged awful words and there was even a slap involved. But over time, the two of them became very close.

However, Valentia discovered a terrible truth just before she was about to confess something to Lexus—she was pregnant with his child.

Valentia had to run away to protect herself.

And then a few years passed.

“Did he just say you were his mom?”

That awful man, Lexus appeared once more before Valentia, who was living a quiet life with her lovely son, Elijah.

There's so many plot holes in this. Contrary to what everyone said, part 1 of their beginning and before the "betrayal" was done right. It start off good, but crumbling apart after it, like the author is being chased by deadline and etc and thus why they speed the hell off the story. Their academic days doesn't have plot hole and each of their character are build good. Their personality doesn't make you go "huh.. but you just said.." or "i thought you said you were this kind of person?"... more>> And the romance was *chef's kiss*

The way the 'act 1' are being held to put it to the 'act 2' was perfectly done, so imagine my disappointed heart after Valentia runs away and the story becames weird? The pacing, their characteristics of their personality, the problem, the villains.. it jumbles up into this mixing weird plot. And if everyone here praise the author that they has done a good job including the narrative of each of their "villains"... well I beg to differ then.

Like hello? Yes yes I know before being the perpetrator Permat is a victim too, or the grand Duke is just literally a psychopath okay. They have their worse ending that is suited for them, even the baron and his wife get their miserable ending, and it's written in it. But what about the marquis? Yes yes we see him in a jail that is bla bla bla of course not suited for a noble like him, but what then? Why is it that I don't get a single description about what happen to the marquis and his father after Erhein being put in prison? Is he receive the same outcome as the grand Duke? What about the father, the former marquiss? Yes I know too that their property are now being the property of the imperial family, BUT IS THE MARQUIS DEAD? is what I'm curious to know.

It is cliche. But this cliche doesn't even written right. Only the first half before the "run away" part is good after that is a terrible mess. I usually like this type of cliche when the FL runs away, the ML chase, the ML regrets, the ML begging and crying. But this. Wow. 3★ is my generosity for the translator, if not I would have rate this 2★

The only thing that is good from this novel is the character's dialogs, the author has done a great deal for writing their conversation, the character talks not just with their mouth, but with their body languange, just like how irl people talks to each other in rl. The author explained their body language just right. Not to over-explained or the other way around. Conversation went flow like water, doesn't felt rigid and unnecessary.

And if there is something else it must have been the ML personality, no wonder everyone around him likes him. As the comment above said, it's the "loveable assh*le" trope done right. I found it funny reading his sarcastic thought on everyone else, that is of course, includes his thought on Valentia.

But that's it. The romance is only good at their academic days, after it? It went downhill with only depressing plot after depressing plot. The author must have been really loves torturing and inflict pain on Valentia. Like stop?? Didn't she suffered enough???

So I'm warning you again the plot went downhill after the "running away", if you're the type of person to read in details, not missing out on any little speck of dust you see, and easily irritated on things, you might want to reconsider reading this. If you want you can read this only until the first part before the "run away" it might save you a lot from unnecessary emotional outburst towards this novel. <<less

The FL in this novel is clearly fantastic, but I have to shout out the ML because I've fallen in love with the nuance of his character. He's the "Lovable a**hole" trope done RIGHT.

The ML is not as much of a d*ck as you'd think he is. Like many, I started this novel under the anticipation that I would hate his whole existence, ready to see him turn into a sniveling mess, but I actually ended up loving him. While he's painted as being this horrid man who plays with... more>> the hearts of women, that's not actually how it is at all.

(I want to start this by saying the ML being a playboy doesn't automatically make him a bad person. If you think the ML is a bad man just because he sleeps around, you need to work on your s*x positivity)

Spoiler

Any time he enters a relationship with a woman, the boundaries are made clear right from the beginning: Have some fun, play around for a bit, and then part ways cleanly. It's even become well known that if a woman decides to enter a relationship with him, they'd be seen as the envy of everyone, but that they couldn't be with him forever. I don't think the ML is at fault for the women he sees catching 'feelings' for him, expecting him to reciprocate, and then getting mad at him when he doesn't, especially when he makes his expectations for the relationship clear right from the start. I feel that way about real life circumstances as well, if a Person A wants a casual fling and Person B agrees to that, Person A is not obligated to reciprocate feelings if Person B ends up catching any.

I'd be more angry with him if he were leading them on, making promises he never intended to keep, but that's clearly not what's happening. I think it was even mentioned that the ML never approaches women first, he just takes whomever comes his way, hence why he's fairly bad at pursuing women himself.

The only thing he does that's deserving of karmic retribution is this bet of his (but that's where the 'Pride' aspect of the title comes into play). The ML is extremely prideful, so when his friends start goading him on with how he could never manage to seduce the woman who hated him enough to slap him, his arrogance forces him to take the bait and the bet.

But despite that fact, what made me love the ML the most was that you can clearly see the good person beneath his snarky, arrogant, and rather flippant self. He treats his sister with affection and love, being protective and caring for her even as he teases her, he respects his mother and his father, he has a friendly but teasing bond with his older brother, and he treats the FL with so much clear affection without even realizing it. He clearly likes her, perhaps even loves her, but doesn't even realize that fact for himself.

[collapse]

With that being said, I am still very much looking forward to seeing that very karmic retribution come into play. However, it's no longer a case of wanting to see him suffer because I hate him, but rather wanting to see him suffer because he's a fascinating character, and I want to see how this changes things up for him.

As for the FL, I really love her approach towards her family's abuse. This isn't some crazy revenge story and she doesn't harbor any real hatred towards her father and stepmother for their neglect (which escalates into physical abuse later). She just feels *nothing* towards them, which is very relatable for me on a personal level. She's not scheming to get revenge, plotting their downfall, or even really talking about them. Her plan is to just get a job, become independent, and get out as soon as she can. It's very realistic in that sense because I feel like many of us who come from more turbulent households are given that same kind of choice. While revenge stories act as wish fulfillment for many, I find it refreshing to see a story where the FL looks at her abusers and essentially thinks, "I don't care enough about you or what you've done to me to linger on this. I'm out." She's ready to move on and live her life without them, and I love that for her.

The only cliche that this story fails to expand upon is the 'villainess' character. She's a jealous bat, described even by her brother as being s*upid and foolish, is haughty and arrogant, and feels as though she is owed the ML's love because of a childhood encounter and similar social statuses. With that being said, it's clear this villainess girl isn't the big bad, and that bigger, much more influential troubles are brewing on the horizon, so it's easy to ignore this aspect.

On the whole, this story is really lovely. From the summary alone, it utilizes all the usual cliches of the popular, playboy ML, the quiet and studious FL, and even the "running away with the baby". It's another story in the same vein as "Taming of the Shrew", but where this story shines is in the nuances and how it uses those tropes. It takes them and makes them its own with characters who have so much depth to them and side characters who are just as lovable.

I am very excited to see how the rest of this novel plays out. <<less

Hey, astralmech here. I translated this novel, so preemptive warning that I might be a little biased.

Spoiler

I just want to preface this by saying the leads are NOT high schoolers like a prior review has stated. It was made clear very early on that the "Academy" setting is university aged, with the leads being in their early 20s pre time-skip and late 20s post time-skip. Another reviewer pointed out that this story is very similar to Taming of the Shrew, and that's definitely an apt description. The flighty womanizer melts the hearts of the ice queen and himself without even realizing it. Plus baby.

[collapse]

I really loved this novel and the progression of the leads' relationship throughout. The author did a masterful job setting up the characters and their own respective troubles during the first half which culminates in an incredibly intense second half.

Lexus (the ML) is probably one of the funnest MLs I've ever had the pleasure of reading.

Spoiler

He's brooding but emotional, snarky but caring, and has a lot of sensitivities when it comes to the idea of love. He doesn't seem to believe in it even though he's surrounded by it. His parents are in love, and his siblings are a ton of fun, which left a lot of people confused as to what made him so jaded.

A lot of that stems from trauma left behind by his uncle. His uncle, who is his father's older brother, was once a kind and caring man. He was always smiling, was beloved by the people of the Empire, and was seen by others as being more personable in comparison to his brother, who was more cold and distant. By all accounts, he was a good man..... until he suddenly attempted to mu*der the pregnant Empress, Lexus, and his older brother, Axion. All of them narrowly escaped this attempt at their lives and since then, Lexus has struggled to trust after this unexpected betrayal. Especially after the uncle returns to hound Lexus and his new family.

But honestly, Lexus is a serious breath of fresh air when it comes to MLs. Especially after the time skip. The sarcasm and joking tone that a lot of his dialogue contains never fails to make me laugh, and though he has "as*hole tendencies" you can't help but love him because deep down, you know he's a good person, just a little misguided and out of touch with his own emotions.

[collapse]

Meanwhile, Valentia (the FL) is your typical 'ice queen' but she clearly subconsciously longs for love and affection.

Spoiler

However, the situation with her parents has instilled in her a fear of becoming close with others, leaving her confused on how to interact with people and maintain positive relationships. Her mother and father used to be in love but then her father suddenly started having an affair which drove her mother to her death. Now, whenever her father speaks about her mother, it's always with cold and callous words.

Though her relationship with Lexus at the outset ended up falling apart tragically, what I loved was that it was still an incredibly valuable experience for Valentia. For her, who thought she was alright by herself and that she didn't need anyone around her at all, being with Lexus taught her that no man is an island, that humans are social creatures who inherently crave connections. That's why, after the time skip, Valentia is clearly shown trying to socialize and connect with the people around her, being the first to reach out to others in a way her past self never even tried.

[collapse]

The way their characters compliment each other is amazing. The author did an incredible job of setting up how their characters contrast each other and showing us how their relationship works. There's a lot of implicit writing in this novel, which I love since it requires the reader to look into the actions of the characters rather than their words to understand them, especially with Lexus' character since the man is in denial about his feelings for a good chunk of this novel, haha.

This novel is truly one of my favorites now, and I hope everyone who comes across it gives it a proper chance and grows to love it as much as I do (especially towards the end, the character explorations for both the villain and the side characters are so good, I really love it).

--- MISC comments ---

[ Lexus as a father ]

Spoiler

And I also just want to say that Lexus is a wonderful father. I get misty eyed just thinking about it. There's this one part in the novel where Lexus is holding Elijah, soothing him while he cries and I nearly screamed, it was such a soft moment. Before Lexus found out that Elijah was his son, he openly said that he loved the boy and wanted him to live safely and happily........ Catch me crying alone in my room at that softness. Lexus really adores Elijah, even before he knew he was his father, which I feel like is something we don't see often in novels. It's always the blood connection that forces feelings into action, but Lexus truly cared about Elijah even before then.

I feel like so many of the MLs I read in novels either feel like "fathers" (authoritative and domineering) or they don't see their child as being a child (et. al every novel where the ML competes with the child for the FL's affection). But Lexus actually feels like a dad. The genuine care and love he shows his son is so beautiful. Not to mention how patient he is with him, allowing Elijah to take his time with things and accept things on his own terms.

[collapse]

[ Criticism from the raws ]

Spoiler

One particular critism I saw from the raws that I just wanted to touch on for a second is that "This is a Rofan, why isn't there enough romance in it?"

I will say that the romance in this novel is more subtle than most. The characters are built up so much in a slow-burn way, their romance being much less obvious than most. They hardly ever touch each other, much less kiss and a lot of their more intimate moments are (fade to black).

But the ways the author builds them both up, showing so much care, adoration, and overall love is expert. The romance here isn't the "hold hand, kiss, and snu-snu" type, but rather a deeply philosophical exploration into both their characters, how they interact, and why they work well together. Think Jane Austen levels of romance but with less flowery writing.

[collapse]

[ The side characters ]

Spoiler

I adore the side characters in this novel, especially towards the ladder half of the novel. They're given so much depth to them and are given moments to shine and burn bright on their own without being overshadowed by the lead. While I do agree that the villainess character seems rather 2D to start, even she is given depth and meaning so that, as a reader, you feel like her arc was properly wrapped up before the story moves on.

This story puts a lot of emphasis on brotherhood, both in the form of Elijah/Sephyan as well as the Emperor and his own brother-- relationships that perfectly show the duality of what these familial bonds can look like. I won't talk too much on that because I could honestly write an essay about it but trust me, it's good.

It's all the usual cliches, but the novel itself is written pretty well. The author takes enough time to properly introduce the setting, characters and realistically develop the relationship between the leads, all the while keeping the story pacing well balanced - it doesn't feel too stretched out nor rushed. The main characters have depth, quirks and personalities. Also, the translation quality is good.

HOW COME I JUST STUMBLED UPON SUCH A MASTERPIECE?!?!? Only once in a blue moon can I discover such an amazing novel with excellent translation, and I'm not saying empty words, I only make reviews for Novels I really love, and I probably have less than 10 reviews so you'll know that this is worth reading. Keep up the good work translators!!!

First things first, I've never seen such an interesting story of such a sweet love between two people before. The character development is very amusing and excellent and it... more>> kinda feels like the author is a genius because it was thoroughly thought out. Their love story is wonderful and I feel like crying right now. There were also parts where it was written in a very poetic tone and it makes my heart flutter even more.

I love that they show both the FL and MLs POV, you can clearly know how they really feel and what they think about each other. I also love the pacing of this story because it's always straight to the point and no unnecessary scenes and the story mostly focuses on both the couple's scenes.

Lastly, I think I read a review about this, but the Imperial Family is refreshing. It's just a normal loving family with a strict but caring father, and mother that's really sweet and loves her children. Their children also care for one another and loves to tease and nag like ordinary children. That's why I think this Novel is refreshing cuz it's not the typical "Evil emperor or empress".

Ahhhhh I wanna read more, so much more. I'm gonna leave this review for now and come back once I'm finished. <<less

To be blunt, anyone who gave this a three star or lower clearly dropped it without giving it a real chance. The ML isn't comically scummy like in most novels, and although he is a playboy, he feels real. The misunderstandings that inevitably lead to the drama aren't ridiculous either.

The pacing isn't a crawl, and unfortunately the end of the novel is coming no doubt in jus— ok I just scrolled up and apparently there's ~150 chapters total so I have no idea how the author is going to stretch... more>> things out when the climax of the story is in clearly what will be 3 or so chapters but I'm glad there's more to come.

It does set itself apart from the rest of the romance novels with this basic archetype, so please give it a try. <<less

I like the Imperial family in this story. It's a complete, normal family without schemes or bloody scary stuff unlike most Imperial families I've read so far in other novels. The relationship of the siblings is really good as well as the mother & father which is quite refreshing.

I also like Valentia. She's quite strong in mind and heart. A good person with a good attitude.

Translating Mech never fails to disappoint me with their ever-so-smooth translation. Pride and Sanctimony is one of the generic genres of romance where the male lead is a certified and proud playboy and a striving-for-achiever female lead. You can pretty much guess where the plotlines are treading — plain and simple, albeit a cliche, but what made this story striking for me is because the female lead stood out for herself when the arrogant prince (male lead) threw unsolicited demeaning phrases at her. And the fact that she didn't give... more>> a sh*t about anyone's opinion is a satisfaction I seldomly savor from other fml's.

Valentia from the get-go is kind of a tough nut to crack, armored with cold indifference from the public's opinion. She can be soft when a situation arrives and at the same time, she knows how to speak her mind curtly. While she's driven to be independent because of her father's non-existent presence and the stepmother's abusive parenting, this poor girl has no one on her side for her to confide in for help. All she has is herself. It's actually astonishing how she's a well-functioned individual in the academy despite the mental and physical trauma caused by her family. What I can say to her from the up-to-date translated chapters is she has her grounds stood, practical thinker, doesn't delude herself from the prince's "momentary feelings", and above all, she's cool temperament wise.

On the other hand, Lexus, our privileged princeliness only thinks of himself and is pretty much an as*hole from time to time. He's prideful just like any other man who wields both power and beauty and he knows it, that's why Lexus is quite confident at first that he can get Valentia but oh boy, our girly's defense is high. This boy knows no boundaries in the beginning, relentlessly on the offensive side whenever his manly pride is being tickled by Valentia and it totally sucks because you will see how narrow his opinions are, not to mention he has a not-so-good friend that likes to egg him on with ideas (this is where the bet is being laid). I'd say he's the typical sly man who will do anything to get what he wants and I'm 100% you'll be cursing this boy from the start. Also, he's a sassy and sarcastic prince, so he can be humorous and annoying.

These two main characters' relationship is bound to be messy because each of them has flaws and self-doubts. The gradual development of their relationship is not too slow nor fast, it's just right, and the fact that Lexus is redeemable despite the negative is promising. You can see also the stark contrast of their lives: Lexus is well-loved by his family, Valentia is not. He has a little bit of freedom, she can't afford it. He has someone he can rely on, she only has the remnants of her deceased mother. All Lexus has, Valentia couldn't have but her compassion to live for herself is something Lexus lacks. But it's not something to shy away from this novel because both of them somehow influence each other, more so Valentia to Lexus. <<less

ok, so yes the overall main character dynamic is the same overused smart girl matched with a playboy who seems to be interested in her because she's different but it doesn't feel bland or cliche compared to the "everyone loves this girl all of a sudden" trope. The story and the way it was translated is really well too. The female protagonist isn't also overbearing or overly soft and considering the life she's lived, understandable, have a good day.

If you're looking for something fresh in a Korean romance novel this... more>> is probably it considering the over fluctuation of the same trope being used over and over again and being translated over and over again recently due to the demand of those type of stories. Though I was able to find this one due to me looking for a rehashed version of another story of another story of another story so yes I am happily dissing my tastebuds.

Give this one a try or not since I am just stating my own biased review on this one. It's not perfect but I like it, just give it a try if you feel like it. And yes I am a sucker and looking forward to the potential angst because yes I like the feeling of crying over the main characters over their useless misunderstandings that may be solved by literally 5 minutes of actually talking and telling the truth. <<less

Honestly, I was expecting more since it had a lot of good reviews but my rating is solely for the extremely good translation.

The story is very cliche and romance is typical of those high school western romance centered around teenagers with teen mentality and misunderstandings written by English authors which is so not my cup of tea.

The male leads character is decent but I can't say he's good since he plays around when there's not any need for it (he's not an alpha in a omega verse book) only... more>> to rudely break up with many woman (you may consider I'm a prude but I dgaf. A high schooler wh*ring around is not something I commend, it would be okay if he was the age to be in university but he's not and its so hard for me to consider this novel was written in a historical setting with the way its written) and he was not honest about his intentions and was so slow to realise his feelings until after the MC's gone.

Well too bad but I don't really know if it even has much potential but seeing how it has so many likes I think I'm the odd one.

Maybe it gets better in the future but I don't have any hope.

This story is more Shoujo than josei and I'm old enough to prefer the latter so I guess I'm not really fond of this but the cliche trope of poor sad MC and rich princely playboy and cliche romance of them and a weird point of him not being able to get a woman pregnant if he doesn't love her (is he a dragon? And so it's fine for him to play around without considering what if's?) is really making me feel a sense of aversion to this book.

I wouldn't recommend this for anyone looking for something other than teen romance. But if you want a refreshing ML with playboy trope go for it. Since as one of the previous commenters said, he can't be considered a d*ck even though he can't keep it in his pants. <<less

as everyone said, this is your typical playboy ML who makes a bet with his friend/s regarding the fl, who is the smartest person in the academy and is (apparently) uninterested in the ML whatsoever. I honestly have no problem with the cliche, but what I hate is the ml. ... more>>
Spoiler

sure, he's gonna suffer, but I still wont like him no matter what. and that tr*shy friend of his who starts the bet. I swear to god, if he doesnt suffer... anyway, as i've said, he makes a bet. and im pretty sure valentia found out about it and its most probably the reason why she left him. but I just wish that the author didnt reunite her with lexus (the ml). just because they have a kid together, doesnt necessarily mean that they have to be together. yes, a child needs a complete family. but sometimes, the said family doesnt need to be blood related to you. yes, im suggesting that valentia moves on and finds a new love. not someone who only approached her just because "she's not like other girls" or someone who made a f*cking bet with his friend on a whim, but someone who genuinely likes her. and I can understand that lexus will come to like her, but it doesnt change the face that he approached her just because of a bet he made with tex (his friend). its not my cup of tea (the him approaching her cuz of a s*upid reason, I mean)

its pretty early to judge since I read only around 10 chapters as of today, but im still dropping it for now

edit: lmao just realized how s*upid my reasoning is. ofc he's gonna be an a**hole. thats literally the whole point of the cliché smh... but I still stand by my opinion that the author shouldnt have let them meet each other again. also fun fact, "morit" in my language means "student" so the professor's name is ironic to me <<less

Let me start by saying that the author did a great job with the story. I didn't notice any plot holes and all in all the story felt well put together, but I felt that it was lacking in romance. The main couple is not the problem, they're actually great, but at the start I was just waiting for the misunderstanding to be cleared and then when it finally was, the FL was not ready to be together with the ml. Then I wake up and I'm at the epilogue... more>> and they're already married. In my eyes there was no actual romance, they just loved each other from the start. The novel is about them trying to overcome the misunderstanding they had and become a family, not about falling in love. My conclusion is: great novel, but if you're looking for romance it's probably not your best bet. <<less

I love it!

The guy is a lovable jerk. He's not bad just a little immature with betting with his friends.

He's polite and a good son.

... more>> The Female lead is a very lonely child, so the dynamic of friendly laid back ML and cold diligent lonely FL is good. The romance went naturally and not forced at all.

My little sister dated a playboy once before and she told me it was actually really good experience. It's probably similar to this story because the ML knew how to be caring and properly being a good boyfriend. I was a little prejudiced before but now I understood well. It's hard not fall in love with someone like that.

The translation is also good and that's one of the main reasons why the story is good. It'd be hard to enjoy the story if the translation is bad.... <<less

This is your cliche playboy prince with a serious smart FL, the story itself isn't fresh, but the characters, the writing itself is good so you won't feel bored. What I dislike about it, they retell FL story from when she meet the prince, and we can expect the story would be long for about at least 50 chapters or more, so if you wan't to know how they reunited you must be patient.

Unpopular opinion, but I can't say I enjoyed the first part. The academy part that is. Not to say that it wasn't written well, it was so very good. I definitely was NOT bored. Just, I didn't like it.

It's only last year that I said I love college love story or something of the similar tune, but now, I think my taste has shifted?

The second part, tho, it was just right for me. It's definitely a bit dragged, and those fantastical or mystical elements were really out of the left... more>> field, but the way the two leads patched things between the two of them was lovely. I couldn't get over the fact that they're just divorced couple rekindling their old feelings. It's just that beautiful to me.

Their monologue, their fear, their actions, and their speech towards each other as time goes on felt so mature and felt so so pathetic at the same time. It's also felt so real that I suspected that the author might have been remarried to their ex-spouse at one time in their life (in fact, it felt like the process of my getting back to my ex-wife lol. Spoiler: I succeeded)

Anyway, I probably can't give away a full 5 stars, because, you know, the book is not without flaws. But there's no half-stars here, soo... <<less

Pretty cliche play boy x loner girl where he's rich and have everything and she's barely scraping, the only Different thing is that he isn't a bully

the ML isn't that much tr*sh when you reAlly think about it ofc he's an as*hole for even considering this bet his as*hole of a friend suggested however

the ML got his title "playboy" simply because he's a Prince and he's hot, at a young age he would learn that people would only approach him for their selfish needs, so when the women throws themselves... more>> at him he would ofc catch them because well he's a gentle man from the start of every entanglement he would make it clear he doesn't want anything serious because he didn't believe anyone would truly love him for him and not his title and ppl would already claim ownership over him so not really a play boy but he sleeps around

the FL ofc she our neglected abused cinnamon roll ☺ the students shoved her in this box calling her an iron maiden and a cold woman and says she looks down on them out of jealousy simply because she's smart and excels in all her subjects

I feel like she only fell in love so fast and hard because she had never had anyone to do those or anything at all good for her she's emotionally intelligent so it doesn't take her long to realize how she feels and the Prince still doesn't know about his feeling for her or more like he doesn't know what he's experiencing anyways every time it gets cute all I can think about it that s*upid bet I don't feel any thing for any character except the FL plus when they reunite instead of making it clear how he messed up and did wrong and confessed he's so entitled that he thinks if she wanted to throw him away she should have done it the right way he's so angry that he's hurt that he never stopped to think or imagine the pain he's put her through because I know she must've opened up about her ill treatment home and how hard it is in school all he thought about was how broken hearted he felt when she disappeared anyways they were realistic on her part even tho he hurt her she couldn't stop loving or never did, he didn't really grovel either he just forced his way back into her and the kids life just like how he used goldie Idk I for really like it nor
hate it and it's readible

There wasn't even a need for the s*upid get he got rejected but that didn't mean anything much to him kid the friend wasn't serious I feel like the author should've used some other trope <<less

Not a bad read. I agree with the other reviewer here: the ML is an as*hole type but a redeemable, lovable type. I really enjoyed their love story set in the academy. The latter arcs felt too long though but since I was invested in the characters already, it wasn’t difficult to read through them.
I do have a small gripe about some of the elements in the story. Since there was no proper world building, it gets a bit bewildering when fantastical elements gets thrown in without prior foreshadowing or whatever. They sometimes feel inorganic, tbh.

That aside, I recommend this for those who enjoy this kind of tropes. ML deserves a 2nd chance.

It was a good read overall. Elijah and Goldie were so adorable and smart. The MC and ML tend to be cowardly and negligent though. Specially when Elijah was kidnapped. They were fully aware that his life is in jeopardy but they allowef him to walk alone just because he asked. I was glad they did not end up as emperor and empress. It would be a tragedy if that happened.

I give both the Translation and the Story a sparkling 5 stars

The story is very generic and cliché, but if you're like me who loves enemies-to-lovers trope in novels and don't mind reading the exact same plot over and over again, then you will surely enjoy this. I'm the kind of person who'd rather read cliché novels, than to read a novel with a lot of plot twists and mysteries but with a lot of plot holes.

This novel translation is already finished, the NU website just isn't updated yet.

This novel has a lot of tropes. From enemies-to-lovers, to the FL getting pregnant by the ML who she thought doesn't really want kids (but he does, there's just a reason why he can't). So, the FL runs away. And the But of course, everything works out in the end.

What I liked about this book is that it doesn't have a lot of angst. I was stressed out by the FL's family, but the stress level they gave me would be a mild 3/10.

It doesn't give me stress and it's a book I would read to cleanse my self of all the negative feelings I get from reading angsty novels, or just the stress brought by real life.

I highly recommend this if you just want to relax and enjoy a book with a guaranteed happy ending. It has good plot, good story progression, good character growth for the main characters (ish), and although the book isn't that deep and you'd probably forget about it after a day or two, it is still enjoyable and you won't be bored reading it again. <<less

Love this story, honestly couldn’t recommend it enough. Great smart, sensible FL.... more>>

Certain misunderstandings you get with these type of stories like who the real father of the baby is clears up in a timely manner. But the only mild criticism I have, which is really more of a quirk if the story are the amount of kidnappings that happen. I think it’s 3 across the story which isn’t much but I just think it’s redundant but not enough to deter from any enjoyment. The reason the FL ends up believing the ML loves her is also kind of dumb but, again, it’s nothing that ruins the story. It’s all just a little funny/ quirky. Overall nice story and I love that the kid isn’t some sort of genius like these stories often make the kids. He’s just a normal child.
