According to a legend in the common world, rooster eggs can have a great effect as a elixir. If eaten by ordinary humans, they can prolong their life, while if eaten by spiritual beasts, they can greatly increase their power.

One year after the pheasant spirit, Ji XiaoYu, entered the land of humans, he suddenly laid an egg, but he couldn’t remember who the other father of the egg was.

While working hard to earn money to save up for powdered milk and having to also protect the small egg from all sorts of bad characters, this pheasant’s life was really difficult.

Okay first of all the summary and title can be decieving and easily misunderstood. BUT!

This is literally one of the best mpreg novel. Our MC actually and is taking care of his bun unlike other novels that emphasizes about the baby in the title and summary but doesnt really show up in the story that much.

This one is so fluffy and heartwarming.

The premise is good, the execution is lacking. It's not 'good', but not 'poor', an alright read when you want some cute smooth mpreg. First half is more exciting. I was a bit disappointed because the latter half feels rushed and MC doesn't do much after they got together. It feels a bit like being on a roller coaster, but after the anticipation-building ascend you get a smooth small ups and downs

(+) The best part is that MC cares a lot about his babies, and he's a badass strong demon who everyone sees as a Beautiful Lamp.

(+) When MC doesn't like something he really shows it.

(+) ML physically weaker than MC, says sorry, and can get drunk!

(+) Cute babies, and the interactions before and after they're born.

(+) I really like the demons' names and fights.

(-) MC flips between weirdly sharp and weirdly idiotic. After ch 25+, I don't know where he got his knowledge and he also gets more dumbed-down, having the mind of a middle-schooler. I wish the author could've fleshed out his thoughts more.

(-) The modern cultivation part is glossed over. It only appears when convenient, even though it could've been one of the best things about this novel (COUGHMoreMpregDemonsCOUGH or just daily demons). Feels like a convenient excuse to have MC lay eggs and to make us freely hate his love rivals. The summary promised everyday struggles of defending the egg from demons, and I wanted that.

(-) Side Characters revolves heavily around the Main Characters.

There is a mentor character who's very close to MC, but never looks for MC whenever he runs off alone for months (especially after his first trip when he possibly were wronged by humans, no concern at all), and MC also never looks for him when he had nothing the mentor can help out with. People around MC either wants to do him or punch him (i.e. his flatmates) and after they had appeared enough to move the plot along, they disappear without a trace. Also, I can get why ML will easily accept MC is demon, but his parents never saw his true form, and when the egg had some changes it was never in front of them, so I don't know why his mom would believe ML's story right away.

(-) Word vomit/chapters with nothing but sleeping and eating. After MC/ML got together the story sped up, paragraphs either say too little or too much in one chapter, progression feels unnatural.

(+/-) ML can read as a money idiot because of how he spends (MC is a pheasant not a crow or dog, I don't see why he would like the big-ass diamond ring) and a crazy lover, threatens to end lives and tear down buildings if the common people doesn't complete his tall request. You see him spend money more than he does something CEO-like, so it feels like 'where's all this money coming from??' Sure he stays up to work, but for someone this rich, he takes a lot of vacation.

(-) rushed + illogical development for the first son's love line. Disregards every other available man in the universe and the pre-established rule for demons.

(-) Chicken Run gets more annoying the more it's mentioned.

Cute but the ML is too overbearing and short minded while MC is very naive and gullible. Only the first few chapters are good. I'm really disappointed with ML, not suitable of his position. Also, There are lots of misunderstandings. I wanted to rate 1star but I add another star for the hard working MC and the fluff moments with his egg child

The ML made a few background check but wasn't able to discover the the things happened on Dec 24. I find him and his assistant really incompetent.

Around ch 54 the ? Is cracked due to accident and a chick is born.

Dropped at 55, few chapters before I completed.

What a cute and very enjoyable story! I was looking for a short and completed novel and I wasn't disappointed.

Characters

I liked the MC's personnality. He's strong (not only physically), knows how to fight and is kinda savage xD. I found it cute that he is so protective of his egg, and this from the beginning of the story. He's definitely a good and hard-working daddy. The ML was really a good surpise. It's so gooooooood to have such a respectful ML towards his lover. Not the r*pey type, he's... more>> patient, caring, and even more when they become a couple. Their relationship is "healthy"; they communicate and everything feels just natural.

Plot

For me, it has a good pace. It's indeed a liiiiiittle bit slow at the end, but it's okay because it's fluffy xD. There's one main misundertanding between the MC/ML, but when it's solved, it's very satisfying. In fact everything is said (communication is the key guys). To sum up: interesting story, it's funny, cute and refreshing. It's simple and there's no big plot-twist. The extras were also good (little egg as an adult) !

I am into the MPreg trope very much so I've read a lot and I am happy with this because the explanation actually made more sense lol. Plenty of baby scenes and I need more fluffy things in my life...

This story has

- unique childrearing (well, egg.)

The couple has a smooth relationship pacing and I appreciate that they didn't go to the overdramatic angsty nonsense route. The CEO is being cute with his initial denial (of feelings) which contradicts his generosity and biasedness for the MC lol. Also, don't judge the ML because of wonky google translate. He isn't that bad. In fact, he's better that other MLs I've known. If you have't read "Choosing you (devil prince x pretty angel) " then you don't know what an a**hole, over-assuming seme is. If I am to describe the feel of the story, it's more like a smooth-sailing BL cinderella story set in fantasy w/ childcare.

I binge read this and really sacrifice my night sleep just for this and it was worth it. I am already so tired and lazy to post a review, but I really am so thankful to the author for writing this and I really wanted people to read this, I would 100 percent recommend this. A good light read! A good read if you want a break from being too stimulated by emotions and drama, but still want a plot to hang onto. MC was a good hardworking and a pretty okay reason why he's OP. ML's overbearing meter is a little over the healthy chart but it's not really a major thing all in all. The romance had a good pacing and it's just nice to see MC so initiative and receptive when it was all cleared out.

One of the best xuanhuan BL. The story is lighthearted, funny, coherent, cute and well-translated. The characters are very well portrayed and interesting. I especially loved how the author (and translators) managed to transpose the anthropomorphic characteristics and temperament of a pheasant onto the MC. His hot temper, fighting spirit, prideful nature, naivete, lack of human knowledge which he cutely tries to compensate by watching melodramas... lol, ahh Chicken Run also lol... all these are just some elements of the novel that I enjoyed the most.

It is a rare treat... more>> to see a somewhat realistic chain of events after the couple's unfortunate first encounter. The misunderstanding between the couple in the first few chapters is coherent. ML being suspicious also coherent. The misunderstandings were not a source of cheapo drama but more a source of comedy. That's because MC is a strong character; it is not his nature to wallow in angst and misery. I love such characters. I have rarely met an ML who suffered so many set-backs in his pursuit of MC. I lost count of how many times ML was rendered speechless and powerless by either MC's oblivious nature or by his OP strength lol. I liked how the ML actually owed up to his mistakes afterwards and how he tried to redeem himself.

Ed: Some compared this to a cinderella story but I fail to see any ressemblance. If you are going to define any character that marries into a rich family as cinderella, then that's really limited. Personally I think MC JiXiaoYu's character is the opposite of a cinderella, by the simple fact that he is not a weakling that needed to be saved. <<less

To sum it up, this is a modern Cinderella-setting BL story mixed with some supernatural elements and child-caring. The plot is generic, cliched, filled with many tropes that can be usually seen in Chinese BL stories: doting rich gong who is socially powerful, naive s*upid lucky shou who is so pure that borders s*upid, sweet love-scenes that are both cute and nauseating, unrealistic world settings. Oh well, this is fiction anyways, so the last point is a tad irrelevant.

Characters: 2D as most Chinese BL stories. There are times I am... more>> curious if it is a must for BL modern story to have one socially-powerful character such as CEO, rich heir, rich young master,... with drop-dead gorgeous looks as gong. Really, it's getting tedious. When the author goes that direction, it is almost certain the romance path that comes later is gonna be much easier and less angstsy. In this story, the gong is CEO, filthy rich, spends money like water for his hoe.. I mean, shou. Nobody is gonna complain or express disdain over him if you go for guys because he's rich and hot. Shou is also pulled from common trope. His thought pattern is naive, frank, s*upid; his action is childish. Although I understand the reason is that he used to live in a mountain as spirit beast with no knowledge of society, this guy is just... so lucky. He gets no consequences for his words and actions. Every time he got into something, ML will somehow be involved and fix everything. MC and ML are powerful in their own ways which makes the story cheap.

Plot: Everything is convenient. Since the MC is demon, he can get pregnant. If something bad happens to MC and ML, everything is solved by either money or brute force. No wisdom because writers are afraid the reader's puny brain cannot comprehend. Happy ending where everyone is happy... Well I guess, fiction is a way for people to escape the harsh reality. I mean, if this happens in real life, no way this b*ll-sh*t romance can pull off.

If you are looking for something to kill time or something simple and decent to read, this story is qualified. It is generally a smooth-sailing romance story with no conflicts, no plot twists, no angsts and no-brainer. Everything is predictable as f*ck.

If you crave something deep that will invoke afterthought or groundbreaking or realistic, do me a favor, click back. You won't miss anything, I ensure you.

As for me, it's a meh to Ok read. Nothing new... or maybe I'm just jaded. <<less

Very fluffy, funny and cute. MC is quite naive and pure, but not to the point that it annoyed me. Just enough to leave our ML helpless at his antics. It was so funny watching the ML have misunderstandings and eating his own vinegar, since MC is a little dense.

Though I didn't expect the extra with PaoPao and JingXuan. PaoPao is really the best mix of his dads, strong and fierce like MC and thick-skinned/direct like ML 🤣

The thing that described by the summary about the Use of Egg, MC work to take care of the Egg, and bad people tried to get the Egg, was right! BUT the actual response of how ML react about the Egg's Existence and Truth, Absolutely different from the Summary!

The summary and the NU tags didn't make me want to read this novel, but because it's FLUFF, the Translation is Completed, and I'm craving for more Fluff Novel right now, so finally I chose to read it. And it did NOT... more>> dissapoint me!

It's Absolutely Cute, Funny, Epic, Great and Wonderful Novel! First, I'm going to say MC is NOT dense or oblivious, but he's ignorant and mostly focus on earning money and protect his egg, so, half of ML's action in trying to get MC as his Lover; Hinting things, Courting, was just like light wind, the kind of you won't notice unless you stop to pay attention to it. Especially with the fact that MC also didn't search for a Lover and tried not to think about ML when MC realise he somehow attracted to ML's smell, body, attention, affection, etc.

Anyway, MC is tough and strong mentally and physically. While ML is Sweet and Shameless.

Also there's another interesting point in this novel.

This was too sweet and fluffy!!! So funny too. Because MC lays eggs instead of carry a human child, no 'weird' scenes of males with a big belly.

MC is naive due to growing up living on a mountain with other spiritual beasts, but he isn't in any way s*upid or incompetent. He has a strong instinct and is fierce. No one dares to bully him.

ML is sweet and super doting. Perfect ML. Maybe only in begining when he misunderstood the situation he may acted a bit dubious, but in... more>> terms of BL where dub con often appears, this ML is a softie in a good way.

The kid (s) are just soooooo cute!!! ML's parents are incredibly too. Refreshing too great how supportive they are. <<less

If you want to read Sweet and fluffy Mpreg story with child caring and dramatic scene, then this is the one for you but before that WARNING~ The first half is not as sweet and fluffy and there are some forced s*x and attempt of non-consensual s*x but if you survive that phase then the rest of story end up being very sweet and fluff with lots of dog food.

The first half of the story, ML being as*hole and manipulative, Well, I know a lot of people have problem... more>> with manipulative character but for me, I don't have much problem as long as they don't cross my bottom line afterall, all is fair in love and war. but I still didn't liked ML at first, especially.....

Thankfully he end up changing. From yandere, manipulative overbearing seme to Caring and henpecking seme. Plus he was such a doting father.

MC is naive and sweet but also very funny. I liked how our MC is super strong.

I liked how MC didn't accepted ML after findings out what ML did to him in past, even though MC loved ml..... It's not that I didn't want them to end up together but like seriously, some action, especially wrong one shouldn't be forgiven easily, plus ML deserve to suffer and regret a bit.

I love the extra about Paopao and JingXuan but since it was only 2 chapter I kinda felt it was rushed. Wish it was long but it's ok, atleast we got his story. I need DangDang story too. Kinda feel like DangDang might not be the shou but gong if he was in relationship......... instinct.

Lastly, Thanks to the translator for translating this novel. This was pretty enjoyable. <<less

What a cute story! I really love the plot and the comedy is also nice. There's also a tini-tiny bit of drama but it's mostly fluff.

I think the story wen't well because of how interesting the plot was and the characters are also well depicted, even the villains.

I really really love the characters of this story, especially the main cp. MC's looks can be deceiving, he looks frail but he's 100x stronger than his husband lol. I really like how he focuses on his baby's needs, so cute. On the... more>> other hand, ML is an overbearing president turned into a very caring hubby. At first, I was disappointed in his character but later on, he will redeem himself. Trust me, his character development is one of the good points of this story. I also love ML's parents, it's so refreshing to read not so old fashioned parents who hinders same-s*x couples, they were great!

Enjoyable story + great translation = I highly recommend this if you like fluff and childcare. I will definitely reread this in the future. <<less

I'm very picky with my uke/shou and this Ji fellow is one of my favorites!!!

He loves his baby egg dearly he will do anything for it. He's a combination of sweet and spicy for me. Work, work, work in order to save for milk and diapers since he found out raising a baby is a huge responsibility (and expenses.) Like him so much because I don't feel the usual fragile helpless uke/shou vibe in him, boy, he can kick ass. Though he is sometimes naive, he is devoted and focused... more>> on his goal... raise his baby safely.

Very fluffy, lighthearted romantic comedy. MC is exceptionally naive/clueless/brawn over brain, which might not be for everyone. I thought it was pretty funny as it's played up a great deal for the comedy.

Read this if you're not looking for anything complex (and don't mind zero character development). The romance is predictable with a perfect CEO-ML, but the author had a good handle on the pacing so it didn't get boring. Cinderella-esque storyline, very low angst, a nice bite-sized read.

Surprisingly, I enjoyed the extras. I'm usually not that into love stories... more>> related to the MC's kids, but PaoPao is an exception. Thanks for the translation! <<less

Happy Ending. Very fluffy, with nice interactions between the MC and the ML. MC is silly and naive. ML is possessive and overbearing. If you like a good plot and heavy drama, this novel is probably not for you, but 4 stars for those who like this genre.

Every scene with his egg is probably the best in my opinion. I love kids in BL novels.

It's really cute and light. There were not much dog blood scenes nor complicated problems. The MC is strong but simple-minded and is very dedicated in earning money for his little white egg. The ML is an infatuated rich boss who almost did everything to get his wife.
