The characters aren't even 10 yet...

I can suspend disbelief pretty far but a 3 year old blocking arrows and dueling people to a standstill is simply ridiculous

Scenes that should be awesome are just ridiculous because I imagine a 3 year old doing it.

If the ages weren't mentioned every couple chapters I could just pretend they're at least teenagers but the author is dead set on everyone knowing they are kids

Going to be honest.. I have no idea who the girl is! But I do know the main character at chapter 25 is still a child! Whoo! The story seems interesting and the characters seem a little bland at this point in time, but it still seems to be the early phases of the book. The world seems well thought out and interesting.

I do recommend this to people who would like a XianXia that Doesn't start off as usual :3

Ok. After reading ALL THE CHAPTERS of Perfect World I'm going to give my unbiased and HONEST opinion about it. Truth be told it held a lot of promise at the start. However, it became a taxing when you get to the middle. The romance is uhh... *facepalm* I don't even know how to explain why he didn't even bothered to "make an effort" to make it work. It's just too annoying to even look at the so called "romance" of this novel.

Frankly, I'm trying to read all the "completed"... more>> novels here in Novelupdates and by far this is probably one of the most annoying titles I had read from the start till the last chapter. If you manage to survive reading the story up to the last hundred chapters, you'll just feel empty.

It's like... you're just reading it for the sake of completing it. In all honesty it was a very EXHAUSTING EFFORT to even finish this title. The last few chapters are a DRAG to read. Really annoying, really disappointing, really a waste of time and effort.

Hey, if you have nothing to do you can waste your time reading this title. I'm just writing this review to saaaveeee you the trouble of wasting your time. Seriously, It could HAVE BEEN WAAAY BETTER. My disappointment and annoyance can't be measured by years of cultivation atm.

Again, I'm writing this review just as I have finished reading all the chapters (which means I just finished reading the last chapter a few minutes ago). An honest advice from me. You're better of reading something like "The Strongest System".

Even though the ending of the Strongest System is lackluster, the story is still way better than this one. <<less

This is the best novel I ever read in my life.

All I can say after reading PW is : Who says that supreme beings don't cry ?

Just read this epic novel and watch Shi Hao becomes stronger and stronger to reclaim what was once stolen from him and takes his revenge with the most brutal way in the world.

I started this novel quite some time ago but took a break after reading the horrible episode of him losing his supreme bone. Damn, I felt horrible reading that. It hurt deep inside, as I'm a very sensitive soul... LUL

Bored or whatever, I returned just recently and guess what, I loved it. The story will only get better in my opinion and I love his little 'Devilish Personality'. It has resulted in some seriously disturbing outburst of laughter for my roommate next door. However, she will survive, unlike the main character's enemies, since he will try to eat and cook most of them xD

In the start, the whole universe was quite confusing, but don't mind the details and please just enjoy the story. I still don't quite get the whole symbol thing and how they exactly work. Don't even mention the cultivation, I've stopped trying to decipher it and go with the flow, and the flow is good ^^

To sum it up; I have thoroughly enjoyed my return to this novel and will be looking forward to any future updates. I fully recommend it.

Good in the initial stages, but after the introductory arc this novel is written like a summer blockbuster - the plot is literally action scene after action after action scene. It may seem weird to complain about this when good fights are a cornerstone of the xuanhuan genre, but other good stories intersperse the action with world building, developing characters, alchemy, drama, etc, but Perfect World eschews all of these in its quest to pack its chapters with as many descriptions of fight scenes as possible. Fights will drag on... more>> and on and on, and random characters will be introduced or established characters will act out of character in order to drag the MC into yet another fight. It doesn't help that the fights are always injected with more than the usual amount of typical xuanhuan reaction porn ("How dare you be so arrogant", "You're seeking death", "Doesn't know the difference between heaven and earth", etc, etc). The opening arc is solid and built up the story to be quite epic, but the way the writing has developed leaves me quite disappointed. Read this if you want to kill your time with just another average xuanhuan story. <<less

This is a wonderful read. It comes out on par with great novel like TMW or CSG. I have read some of the other reviews before I read this and was really skeptical about reaching chp 90 because so many people were saying that the MC made sudden changes. When I finally got there, I sensed no sudden change in personality. This story is wonderful in the fact that it shows us the exponential growth throughout childhood, instead of the usual soul switched stories and then the MC suddenly gets... more>> op. No, this is fantastic in the fact that we get to see him grow up and even get to know his mysterious past which

was so sad and just plain depressing for the MC that I cried. Not like "Oh I'm so sad I feel like crying" feeling. I mean like there were literal tears falling from my face and onto my computer and coming from me, who has cried like a total of 15 times in my 14 years of life, that is impressive. Hats of to you perfect world for being the first novel to actually make me cry.

The sudden change thing that people are saying though, is bullsh*t because there was no sudden change. We got to see the MC grow up, and as we see that, we get to see his mischievous nature kind of build up to what it was. Now, granted, that mischievous part of him intensified quite a bit later on, it wasn't really forced. It was just him growing up into that nature. And we get to see a bit of his mischievous nature in childhood too. Plus, in the early chapters, we only get to see him deal with people in the village, who were actually really nice. Especially the elder guy who was like the grandpa of the MC. We only see that super mischievous part of him when he's dealing with absolute d*cks who underestimate him to an extreme.

However, in the village, with all the people he loves, he has no reason to go into mischievous mode and wreak havoc.

I will admit though that some readers may have gotten a kind of serious nature from him from the time when he was training, that was just a kind of phase thing because he really wanted to get stronger quickly for his parents and the willow deity.

This thing is just candidly bad. It has everything that people complain about in Xuanhuan/ Xianxia novels. The MC goes through this novel eating near all his opponents!

it's to be comedic? Because he is human and his opponents, often are not but if you simply think about the roles being reversed in species it becomes closer to what it is a story about a beast devouring others. Things are also too convenient this MC will need something Que random young master who is unbridled not knowing how high heaven, is... more>> craziest thing the thing he might need to the know the taste of that young master's flesh. This novel the author will spend so much time stroking mc's accomplishments or weighing him against others to highlight his worth it becomes near masturbatory "Oh young master, has slain his thousands, but Shi Hao his tens of thousands" or "Shi Hao is so smart, he can see that in the woods a trap was laid out to catch food with his Heaven Warping Genius (term will be mention probably well over a thousand times this novel in reference to him) "

The reasons for some of these conflicts are absurd someone once heard of the MC being disliked by someone so sent assassins after him just because of that no other reason. This guy also loves his righteous indignation he will get mad at opponents for not leaving him good things to have after he kills them truly, but then will raise biblical hell on the clan of one who tries to rob him. <<less

Weak writing. Author is not sure what he wants his characters to do (kill not kill?). 4 year old fighting it out with mountain-sized beasts and talking like an adult.

Awful story-telling. The kind that doesn't let go. From fight to fight without rest, from battle to battle all day long. There is no respite for the readers. There is no "victory" although the MC is always the victor but the battles never end.

One of the most infuriating reads I've had in my entire life. Thank god I dropped it when... more>> I did, otherwise I would have been torture myself more and more. <<less

Ignore the naysayers who've read like 10 chapters. I'd understand if they were complaining about the quality of the translation and couldn't bear at, as I've made reviews based on that in the very early chapters. However, people trying to review a novel based on that is just ignorant.

Anyway, I won't get into details about the story and I'll only focus on one part of why I rated this novel so high. It was one of the EXTREMELY rare novels out that that actually had me laughing out loud as... more>> I read it. I'll admit it's rare for me to do that, even when I find something decently humorous in a novel, I'll just think, eh, yeah funny. However this one of the rare novels where I actually couldn't help laughing out loud. It's the MC. He's.. Well, he's the devil. However it's not an arrogance. It's just his absolute ignorance of how to act and his savage ways that had me cracking up so many times.

I will admit it's more or less (from what I've read) another cultivation novel, but man.. It's funny. Give it a shot if you like innocent but ridiculous main characters that cause trouble wherever they go. <<less

My issue with this novel is entirely with the MC, I can understand and deal with a dense protagonist, I can deal with a Klutzy protagonist, but I can not stand a straight up Idiotic Main character. I don't mean "mildly stupid", I mean "Super naive combined with full blown retard." He makes the most idiotic choice available to him in every single scenario. Every. Single. Time.

The only reason I haven't rated it lower is because, other than the MC, the rest of the story is good. The world is... more>> good, the writing is good and (most) characters are good. <<less

So the story starts with the MC being just over one year old. So MC starts of very naive but the environment added to his past family betrayal forces him to grow up fast with odd outlook on life (it's like a barbarian let loose among the Romans). The MC, comedy, and how the MC fools and plays with his peers and seniors reminds me of Meng Hao, which makes it very enjoyable.

I'll be honest, I really tried with this novel. I really did. I tried my best to carry on reading, but after a while, it gets to the point where the novel's main flaw affects how I perceive and read the novel, and because of the flaw, I am not longer able to enjoy reading it, thus I'm now dropping this series. I may pick it up again if I decide to at some point, for now I need to keep away from this novel for a while.

The start of... more>> the novel was great. The tribal setting was nice, the characters was interesting, the cultivation aspect seemed different, the harmonious and happy atmosphere was cool to read as well, and the mysteries surrounding the MC was interesting as well. Everything was fine for roughly the first 100 or so chapters

except the author's random decision to retcon the series and basically restart the characters outside of the MC's tribe after 50 chapters or something

But that was something I'm fine with and can ignore since the changes seemed to be quite positive. However, my main problem that I have with this novel is the MC's abrupt change in personality and how insistent the author is with this sudden change. MC went from an innocent, obedient and kind hearted 4 year old that still drinks milk, to a greedy materialistic douche that is somehow lecherous and lewd despite only being like 10 years old. While I was never fond of how he turned out, if the author somehow showed the gradual process of his transformation or justified it somehow, then I can somewhat understand and accept his change in personality. But the MC's change was just too sudden, and seemingly without reason. There was absolutely no reason for the MC to change so much.

If you exclude the fact that he had always been obedient and been a 'model tribesman', and talk about his inclusion in that time when the children stole the eggs of that precious/divine bird, that still doesn't justify such a change in personality. Not only was he not the main perpetrator/mastermind behind the trip (mind you he was only 3 or 4 years old at the time), the experience should have showed him the dangers of the world and how inexperienced/ignorant he actually is. Other than that one experience that could have influenced his personality, he hasn't come into any sort of influence of trigger that could have caused his personality change, yet after a few years of (seemingly peaceful) training in the tribe, he leaves and becomes greedy over all sorts of treasures and precious resources, even to the point where he baits people into going towards him so that he can collect their treasures and resources, and then even blackmail/ransom them from their clans. Like wtf?
Granted, the people who he ends up baiting were aiming for his own treasures first, so I can somewhat understand him wanting to get them back, and even with interest (ignoring how he was even able to come up with a plan like that), but when he later joins a new school and then meets with one of the school's beauties, he starts being lewd towards her. Like what? When did this 9 or 10 year old suddenly know how to be lewd? That's just ridiculous.

Then, some time after that, when he had managed to take some spoils (in the form of resources), he randomly thinks about his tribe and how he could share his spoils with them. While that's not bad, again, it's just so sudden. If, at the start of his personality shift, it was made clear that his goal had been to benefit the tribespeople, then his greedy personality could be somewhat explained, but it never happened. He had basically never even mentioned his tribe until that moment, a significant amount of time after he had left, and a significant amount of time after his change in personality. It's just ridiculous.

Were it not for my problem with his stupid personality change, I probably would have liked the novel quite a bit and given it a rating of 4 or 5, but due to this significant flaw, I can only rate it a 3. If you were not attached to his initial character and can get past his personality shift, I'm sure this novel would be a great read for you, but it's just not for me. <<less

4.5 rounded to 4 stars. This novel was recommended by NUFers who convinced me to give it a try, Not ground breaking, not the absolute best thing I've read, but it's now part of my guilty pleasure! I've had a thing for pets and this MC can open a legit Pokemon daycare. Wish fulfillment get!

If you like animals, sacred beasts, powerful monsters in abundance, then this novel is for you. If you enjoy a particularly cute miserly MC, then again, this is for you. If you enjoy reading continuous fortuitous... more>> encounters, then once again, this is for you. It isn't a perfect novel and there are some pretty ridiculous power-ups and constant tropes in use but if you can get over it, it's an enjoyable read.

The world building is quite interesting. You start from a small 300 people village and find that there could be cities with 10 million citizens. And there are a few of them.

Then they promptly get wiped out. Whew.

The crazy thing is that the numbers in this novels become increasingly difficult to wrap your head around IMO. 1 li =500m, then they talk about 300, 000 li. 1 jin = 500 g, then by the time the MC is like 7, he carries 108, 000 jin?! The number increases as the novel goes. I can't even imagine his strength at this point...

The MC starts out as the cutest OP toddler you'll see in a while. For a long time he has that sense of naivety and innocence before he mans up a bit. I would say that this is one of the most dedicated and family oriented MC in a while and its refreshing to see that this isn't some shunned, abandoned, or bullied MC. He has a whole village that loves him and helps him grow. Some say that his personality took a 180 degree shift after he left the village, but I kind of disagree. Maybe that's also because I read up to ch 201.

I think he was being a ruthless miser because he knows that these people would not let him go. He's done too much and he actually has some pretty admirable ambitions which fuels his actions. He's a miser because he comes from a relatively impoverished village. Everything he gets, he has a mind to share everything he gets with his village. Yes, he's a glutton, but that's his drive to become stronger since in this novel literally everything he eats powers him up. He has a good personality in that he is one to repay kindness where its due, ie, Williow Diety, Stone Village, Great Vine Spirit, the elders at Heavenly. So I think his personality is pretty constant.

I enjoy reading all the animals interacting with each other and the MC. It's hilarious how they think the MC is even more alien than the most powerful pure-blooded beasts. There is that hint of reverence, fear and annoyance that most of these animals share. The MC "subdues" them in one sense but it's never a master-slave relationship which could probably be contrasted to MC's rival. (Haven't read far enough to really be sure) Our MC is almost like a Pokemon master!

I think this novel is enjoyable, and there are things that could be improved (the amount of luck our MC has is ridiculous) but it's a pretty solid read. Translation is fine and I'm looking forward to read more! <<less

Awwww....... what an adorable MC which makes me want to pinch his cheeks ^_^.
The story starts from when he's still a baby (I guess he's still a baby...a big baby :P) that gives foundation towards his background and character.

There is a goal set that the MC follows while having adventures and making every trouble he can make without him realizing that what he does makes people want to smack his butt. Besides being greedy and voracious his other characters are good. And when he makes trouble, comedy comes...... more>> can't help laughing and laughing... <<less

ignore the people who are displeased about his partial personality change later, it only makes the novel better, also the little bugger of a kid is still growing guys, you still don't act the same as when you were 4 right? Being all innocent and righteous, hes no longer innocent and has seen how the world works.

The word slow pace can not even describe this novel for the first 50 chapters.

But to sum this novel up, this is the story of a village kid living in a town.... Chinese xianxia style.

No harem, no s*x innuendo.

This is a feel good safe novel.

Reviewed this one after marathoned the earliest 83 chapters.

An unusual xianxia, to say the least. It started off great, with solid background and world setting. Its characters are unique (and adorable). Furthermore, the plot follows a clear path, so it seems like the author planned it really well, as each aspect of the story was carefully dug out. Still, considering the huge number of chapters, it’s still on its early days, and we’ll see if the trend persist, got better, or weaken.
