After retiring from the military, Qin Ge was diagnosed with PTSD. Despite being able to recover with the help of psychotherapy, he was still a little more aggressive than ordinary people.

“Didn’t you mention a marriage of convenience? I’ll go with her then.” Qin Ge pointed casually.

“I’m just a bystander,” Wu Tong said innocently.

“Though your husband has gone through treatment, there are still some lingering aftereffects, such as impulsiveness, aggression, and a strong desire for control. In other words,” the psychiatrist concluded, “you need to pamper him. Every day.”

“Understood!” Wu Tong promised while feeling as if her soul had left her body.

So the ML has severe post-war PTSD, yet when his episodes come the FL only needs to kiss him to calm him down? He has severe aggression yet is only aggressive to FL in bed without any abuse whatsoever? His therapist told him to marry a stranger to lessen his symptoms? Yeah right, Grumpy Crab sure loves to sell the idea of love that can heal it all, including healing mental disorders 😂

As a person with mental disorders and friends with a lot of both PTSD patients and their girl/boyfriends,... more>> I can tell you this novel is a total nonsense. The author clearly doesn't have any clue on the topic she wrote. The character's portrayal and plotline made it clear that the author only romanticized the idea of mental disorders with such shallow surface-level ignorant knowledge that is borderline insulting the entire mental disorder community. This novel is very disturbing to read if you have basic knowledge on the topic. I bet the author only read popular articles and watched a little too much dramas without any in-depth research and never conversed with any PTSD patients prior to writing this novel.

From the first few chapters, her portrayal of ML and his therapist made me gag, literally. The author portrayed ML's post-war PTSD with excessive aggression that could happen anytime, anywhere, but whenever MC interjected he'd be in complete control. Well, let me tell you, that's total bullsh*t.

Anyone who have ever experienced dealing with people with PTSD or have read enough literatures would know that the main object of aggression for post-war PTSD patients are those who are intimate with him. In this case, MC. In war veterans' cases, it's almost certain that the spouse would have suffered domestic violence, not just physical but also verbal. And it's definitely not limited to the r*pey s*x scenes that were portrayed by the author with such pink blossoming lenses. I'm talking about literal physical and mental abuse. It's called a disorder for a reason.

A friend of mine who has PTSD repeatedly cheated on her boyfriend, who is a close friend of mine. Another one always beats her boyfriend black and blue (yes, guys can also be the victim in domestic violence cases, the bf stays with her until now). A relative of mine with PTSD even has severe paranoia and aggression that she would repeatedly throw around ceramics to her husband while screaming. I wish I was joking, but that's the truth. All of them went to therapy routinely at some point, but it always relapsed.

To be in a relationship with a person with severe PTSD, you have to truly, truly love that person and be prepared to be heartbroken over and over again. I've adviced my friend and relative numerous times to get out of the clearly toxic relationships, but they always came back to their partners. 'Buying' a stranger to play that part is extremely irresponsible, it's like you're preparing some punching bag that does not have it's own will and can only receive those beatings.

I've never heard of a post-war PTSD case where the patient only behaves aggressively to other people except the spouse, even more so where the spouse's physical contact would lessen the aggression. Any research would tell you that the main victim of aggression is the spouse. It's very silly and ignorant to portray a totally head over heels ML with severe post-war PTSD who'd relax instantly when kissed by his spouse. In real life, MC would've been beaten black and blue if she'd tried to do anything to stop ML.

I'm gonna tell you the obvious thing, post-war PTSD is classified as a serious mental disorder for obvious reasons. And the symptoms are not only limited to aggression and hypersexuality as portrayed here. It's much, much, much darker, most of the times including depression and severe anxiety as well. The author highly trivialized and romanticized the issue just to make a money-making hit, which I found to be quite disrespectful.

Making light of the issue by having a wife to solve all those symptoms are simply impossible to be done in real life and downright ignorant. Anyone who suffered from PTSD would be offended by this novel.

Not to mention ML's therapist. I'd get a refund if I ever got a clearly incompetent therapist like that, generalizing the issue without proper empirical reasoning.

The therapist concluded to MC from the very beginning that ML's gonna be extremely possessive to his future spouse, which is in no way could be concluded from his PTSD and previous experiences since he never had any girlfriend before. The therapist had no empirical basis whatsoever to say that, but just 'predicted' that the ML would behave possessively similar to how a person with borderline disorder behaves. What is she, a prophet?

Not to mention how, when ML went to his regular therapy session and he clearly seemed agitated and suddenly left the therapist just left him like that. She didn't even try to probe his thoughts or try to calm him down.

There's also the fact that ML's therapist deliberately isolated ML by asking all of his former comrades to not contact him, at all, behind his back without any consent. This is a clear violation of work ethics that'd get a mental health worker blacklisted for years. And she was supposed to be a high paying elite therapist! Clearly the author never even met or converse with a real therapist. Everything about this novel is so unrealistic it was clearly born from the author's naive imagination added with her years of watching too much dramas. Like even the basic premise of this novel where the ML was suggested to marry someone to cure his PTSD is total garbage. Telling an aggressive potential abuser to get intimate with someone he's not even familiar with to cure himself is similar to victimizing another human being. There's no way anyone with basic psychological knowledge would ever suggest that. The therapist even nodded to the idea of putting her aggressive PTSD patient in an arranged married with a stranger based on money and leaving all the mess for an unfamiliar girl to handle. That's the s*upidest idea I've ever heard. That girl would've suffered PTSD in turn in real life.

A person like her wouldn't have been able to get a practice license in real life.

I actually love the author's other works. She's a great romance writer, but she clearly has a very shallow view of mental disorders. You can write a shallow romance story, but writing a shallow romance story that is trying to sell the sexy idea of mental disorders while not actually having any clue about the field is simply not doing it for me. The author clearly has no proper understanding of any mental disorder, that in turn makes all of her psychological-themed romance novel (including the scholar syndrome) extremely shallow, ignorant, offensive, and downright s*upid. She should've sticked to writing normal romance novels. <<less

I'm feeling a bit disconnected to the world. Am I the only one bothered by the r*pe? Or is it not considered r*pe because he is ~legally~ allowed to have s*x with her – as put in the text. Or do people just wave their hands because she "consented"? She was very clearly unwilling and coerced, though?

I feel like this author is good, but they lack a bit of awareness and sensibility when it comes to mental illness. To put it simply, their depiction feels crude, as they push all... more>> the burden of "healing" their ML onto the FL. This story in particular irks me because the doctor pushes a still unstable ML to marry and build a family. Were it not for the saint-like FL this would end in total disaster. She is the one who has to endure a violent man child (because PTSD is not enough, he still needs to have low EQ) sexually assaulting her and hurting her over and over again so that he can be "cured" and find happiness, and she doesn't have a choice because her brother's life depends on it. I get that this is a story about making something out of misfortune and I have absolutely no doubt that the FL will handle it beautifully and lead to a very heart warming ending, but the first 17 chapters are simply too unbearable for me. I just don't care for the type of story built on the sacrifices of the only character I like, because I'll keep feeling wronged on their behalf. <<less

I must admit, my profound desire to open this book came from the illustrated cover. Being a crazy cat lady I have these intense urges to read anything cat related. Imagine my surprise that only after finishing this novel I've realised that there are no cats mentioned in the entirety of the text !!!

However, the fact that I got so entangled into the story and the sweet sweet relationship between the main characters that even the cats were forgotten speak for itself. Such a cute novel.

Yours truly,

Crazy Cat Lady

Let me just say that I was catfished by the cute kitten's cover.

I don't know much about PTSD and maybe there are many ways to cure this but... I'm not entirely sure about this approach... Unless ML has experienced something "really specific" that gave him PTSD, I really can't see how he can vent himself only by doing the deed... Dude, do some boxing or something. Don't just go around and beat random transgressors, do some sport, and try to pick up some hobbies. Everything that can distract your mind,... more>> spend more time with your son idk.

Again, I don't know much about PTSD. And maybe he did try to do those things but it wasn't written on text. But no thanks this wasn't the novel for me. I'm all good for fluff but don't shove this bs down my throat.

FeiFei is baby tho. Actually, MC's lil bro and cousin are good too. The rest of the cast isn't bad, at least not most of them, I just don't have a definitive opinion about them. <<less

Must read!

Everything by this author is so good! This author has a way of making mundane everyday moments seem so special when you're with the one you like.

The ML is a retired veteran with PTSD and pretty much all of the conflict that's in this novel has to do with the main couple trying to overcome the symptoms of PTSD together. At first he comes off incredibly unlikeable as he's so pushy with the FL but beneath his aggressive persona, he's just a tortured soul suffering from low self-esteem. Plus,... more>> once he realizes that the FL is trying to understand the pain he's gone through and trying make their marriage work, he takes steps to change. It was heartbreaking to hear about his experiences in the military and there was this scene in the end when he's in front of his old comrades' grave where I just sobbed. I promise you, you'll love the ML by the end you reach the end of the story!

The FL was realistically written and I like that she's a strong and decisive woman but she's willing to compromise for the sake of her own happiness. Although she's essentially coerced into marriage to save her brother's life, she always tries to make the best of her situation. Instead of spending everyday being depressed about her situation, she tries to be positive and open-minded. She understands that communication is key so she actually talks to her husband which resolves a lot of their issues. If you've read Please Confess to Me also by Grumpy Crab you'll see that she's a much more forward-thinking Shen Xi. She's probably closer to Mu Xiaoya from My Husband Has Scholar Syndrome.

Their adopted son is so cute and I love that the ML talks to him like a co-conspirator lol. Whenever the FL does something he can't understand he'll turn to his son and be like what do you think that means?

If you like sweet and emotional but not melodramatic and dogblooded stories, this is for you! <<less

It's a nice, sweet read yes.

And there's no r*pe at all, consent doesn't mean you need to literally ask the person like hey I want to permission to f*ck you. And then the person will give a proper reply. It's tactic, the ambiguous atmosphere....I needn't go into details to explain this.

Just because the ML has been described as violent and hot tempered ten times in every chapter, you can't just put that label of rapist on him.

Spoiler

Though yeah as usual chinese authors make it appear as if females or shous never enjoy s*x, it's a purely painful experience for them,

[collapse]

Both the leads are great as they try to get along, FL is smart, strong woman who is independent and tries her best to devote it the things she does, be it in emotional department or work and life choices.

ML is also no typical cold aloof guy, he is respectful, but shameless, flirty and hilarious at the same time, of course he is aware of his low EQ. And has his own struggle and dilemma on how to treat FL well as he feels insecure and inferior.

All in all, you should give it a go....

And the plot device of pstd being not accurate, oh come on what you are on about?

In fictional writings there are also hundreds of mindless and brainless stuff that happens and don't follow the norms in reality, like

    • there is no place for police and laws, if protagonist had taken on himself or herself to save the world or turn into Sherlock Holmes
    • Cliche 'fateful'encounters of the ML and FL, the probability in real life is so low
    • FL always losing her footing and fall into ml's embrace, tell me if there's even a single novel out there without this scene...
    • Op guys in many many fields
    • Main leads suffering from heavy injuries like bullet shot or stabbing walk out of hospital just after a month all fine..
And so you needn't fret over the accuracy of symptoms, and whatever has been conjured up by the author is not so out of place with the novel setting.

There are so many manic ML and healing FL romances out there where ML is cured of insomnia or aggression if he hears the singing of FL, or sniffs in her aroma or something like that.

Enjoy the nove, fiction is fiction for a reason. <<less

I want to start off by saying I usually REFUSE to read MTL because my brain is just not equipped to read the horrible grammar it gives. However, I just love Grumpy Crab so much, I had to and honestly the MTL for this novel is not as bad as I thought, it wss still readable. Sooo fluffy so cute. Grumpy Crab really never disappoints!

Okay. First of all a thank you to the author. I was actually expecting to see r*pe since one of the reviews claims that it contains r*pe. But to my surprise, there is no r*pe. The girl knows what she's getting herself into. She consented to it. Thus its not r*pe at all.

I like this story even though I am ignorant about PTSD. I like the softness and fluffiness of the story. Its not heavy. Perfect for a slice of life lover like me

It's ok to give this novel a try. The ML's personality is fun and endearing *once you remove the part where he lost control due to his lust.* The FL has a calm and mature way in handling problems. She also did not think it's a shame to marry the ML. Overall, it has a nice plot and fairly good romance.

This is very fluffy and heartwarming. Although the story is short, making it a fast pace story, it was really satisfying to read. The chapters arent long so it's quick to finish for about 2 hours or so.

The relationship between the FL and the ML is of course very lovable.

and we're at another dumb novel that romanticizes mental illness. lmfao. It's a slice of life that ain't even logical at all. Too many plot holes and list goes on. Idk why this have high rating, I gues too many girls are hung up on their own fairytail they forgot their brains. It's a novel with great plot in mind but poor to catastrophically execution. Y'all gotta be on some whole level boredom to appreciate it. Bye.

Please read this piece with a pinch of salt.

It's a good romance novel but with a poorly written PTSD plot device. I wished the author researched a little deeper about patients with PTSD because what was written surrounding our ML with PTSD is basic and somewhat misleading about true PTSD conditions.

Regardless, if you are willing to forgive this weakness in plot writing, then you're up for lotsa child-raising and ML-healing fluff. Hence, 4 stars.

As much as I think it wasn't realistic, I actually enjoyed how this story went. It went from this sort of sadomasochistic story to this heartwarming family novel. I really liked how the 'villains' weren't completely evil like they actually feel guilt and have a conscience. Even the supposedly 2nd ML really didn't love FL and just wanted her to be well.

Well, a lot of people might drop this because of ML's actions in the beginning.
Spoiler

Even though he did their first night with consent, he wasn't able to control himself and hurt FL, scaring her for quite a while (he never forced her after that since he didn't want FL to fear him all the time). ML was a former soldier who suffered PTSD after a mission that wiped out all of his close comrades. Since ML was also the eldest son of the richest man in the capital, he was able to receive treatments from experts for 2 years before he became more normal. Still, he still had some sequelae left which made him irritated, impulsive, moody, and violent sometimes. Because of this, no one wanted to marry him despite his money. After being annoyed by his family's insistence to be married, he chose FL (who accidentally went there on the blind date) when he saw that his adopted son didn't dislike her. He quickly got interested in the FL who insisted on still marrying him despite knowing his 'sickness'. At first, he just wanted to try it out and wanted to be intimate with her. After getting along during their honeymoon, he started to like seeing her smile and would be anxious whenever she's mad, scared, or sad. He felt insecure since he felt that he had nothing except his sickness and money. But with FL's assurance and care, he slowly got up on his feet, tried his best to be a good dad and husband, and reconciled with his family.

[collapse]
I felt like a proud mother watching him feel better and get better.

And of course, the MVP of this novel is definitely the FL.

Spoiler

FL was strong, independent, patient, and tolerant. Initially, she was a bit scared, flustered and awkward with FL since ML kept on acting like a hooligan towards her and she was a conservative and demure kind of person. She did her very best to understand ML's situation and adjusted her emotions and actions very well. After realizing that ML did like her even just a bit, she decided to try to like him too and make efforts to make their marriage a normal one. She was very patient with ML, taking care of him, coaxing him, and making sure to not provoke him. She was also a good mother to Feifei. ML's occasional childishness (which was just so adorable), his subtle sincerity and gentleness, coupled with his extraordinary appearance, made FL slowly fall for him. I'm really glad FL got what she wanted, a happy marriage and a happy family.

[collapse]

Anyway, all I can say is that love can really change people~ But always remember that that doesn't happen all the time in real life so you shouldn't base your actions on a novel okay~

I love this author’s work. This novel was super cute and fluffy. No useless misunderstandings and the communication between the characters is so good. Very wholesome. I did feel like it would’ve been good to have a few more chapters but nonetheless it was still very good ending.

Freaking loved it soooooooo much, it was so relaxing and fluffy that my heart was filled with pink hearts, of course it would've been more satisfying if our dear Mr. Shen also got a happily ever after.

When the story moved on with the backstory of those four soldiers my heart was literally being squeezed.

I could even imagine clearly the spirits of those four soldier watching over Qin Ge and his family when they went to visit the war Memorial.

Sometimes life is really bittersweet.

This series is really adorable. We have a contract marriage between a retired veteran with PTSD and a loving sister who is willing to sacrifice her future in exchange for a life saving surgery for her brother. ML starts out as an aggressive and shameless as*hole, but slowly becomes a little wife s*ave. Wife s*aves in C-novels are usually melodramatic and ridiculous, but I thought it worked pretty well here (ML has very low self esteem due to his mental illness, but FL makes him feel like a normal person).... more>> He's clingy and shameless when it comes to showing his affection for his wife, which is just plain adorable.

The best character is ML's adopted son, Feifei. He has a high IQ and EQ (much better than his father's!) and the juxtaposition between him and his clueless dad is just too cute.

There's lots of fluff and heartwarming moments. I can safely recommend this story if you're looking for a little angst and a lot of fluff. <<less

i love the story so much except the chapter too short. I kind of hope there will side story for brother Qin Huai and also Shen Ximing, lol

I love MC, ML, the brothers, the ex BF, the in-laws, even the retired soldier. The story not focus on villain vs MC, there is no too much drama, and yeah, as usual, the author gives us slice of life story
