I was a successful department head who lived doing whatever I wanted.

That is, until one of my team members betrayed me—and it cost me my life.

After death, I returned to the past—exactly ten years ago…

“Well, damn… There’s not a single person here ranked below me.”

I haven't read much, only 44 chapters, so only take this at face value:

This novel takes place in a planet called Nomolseum. To explain briefly, the people of this planet send monsters and dungeons to Earth through portals. This doesn't mean, however, that they have full control over said monsters. In that case, we then have groups like Monster Disposal Unit and Monster Cleanup Unit. Nomolseum has a 3-sector hierarchy: From top to bottom, Sanctuary -> Middle Sector -> Prison of Demons. Kim Hae-ah, our MC, was originally from the... more>> Middle Sector and was the captain of Monster Disposal Unit, a revered position. Due to an incident with a teammate's betrayal, he died and returned to the Nomolseum of 10 years ago. Here, he started from the very bottom, a member of Monster Cleanup Unit from Prison of Demons. The members of this unit are belittled and severely looked downed on by others. Supposedly, this unit is for 'defectives' without supernatural abilities.
Spoiler

This doesn't seem to be the case with the unit tho, haha.

[collapse]

I think this novel may expand a lot on the Found Family trope. Kim Hae-ah, who used to be an unsociable and distant Captain of Monster Disposal Unit (that doesn't mean he is extremely cold or inconsiderate towards others), slowly opened up to the warm and kind gestures of his Cleanup Unit teammates, whose identities are closely tied to his past life.

I don't think there's room for romance in this novel. A bit early to say that, but, Kim Hae-ah is currently 17 years old, and he is the youngest of them all.

That's all for now. I probably will come back to update this review (and perhaps the rating, which I accidentally rated and cannot take it back :), should there be a need for it) in the future (also considering letting this marinate mostly because it's fairly new even for the raws). Happy reading! <<less

The writing is messy and rushed, which makes the plot to spill all over the place. I suspect the author who has the background knowledge of the novel can read it without issues, but anyone else reading has to just accept a bunch of terminology, world settings and characters that are dumped at once without any context.

It is a good example of telling without showing. After 12 chapters I still don't really understand what is going on, I just know there are bunch of factions, there is earth and nomolseym... more>> and there is monster handling team and stuff, but very little context as to what are their relation to each other because the writing references all of them together, muddling the waters.

Good if you like this genre, and want to read novels with thought.

Bad if you want to read a novel for entertainment, or if the tagged genres are not of specific interest to you.

This isn't for me, not the writing that requires constantly thinking what I just rea, nor the Korean grindset team management genre. <<less
