Almos passed this one by. That would have been a big mistake. This is short but powerful. It’s hard to think that in seven small chapters, I could learn to hate and love the same male lead. One previous comment called the female lead a pure heart. She is simple, but she was just what he needed to make him happy. I love how in the final chapter, he manages to get his little monkey to stay with him. And also how she is smart enough for a little payback... more>> and smart enough to know when to quit. Another gem of a short story. It only took 20 minutes to read but covered everything that should be there. I love stories like this which can make you feel for the characters without being too long and dragged out. I like how the brothers didn’t fight with each other and helped each other after their family fell, even though they didn’t get along before. Also the mom isn’t a villain and she actually treated the work staff decently and genuinely cared for her family.

A brilliantly moving short story about a frivolous young master fallen from grace and the one maid who stayed behind with him. The writing style is evocative yet to the point, given the few number of chapters, and the characters are inspiring in their resilience and loyalty.

This is indeed good. Writer only focus MC pov only and it's like summary of FL life. It's such a good thing that this has only 7 chapters. If writer make it longer like 100 chapters something. I think all the readers will hate ML to the boner.

This was short but so incredibly sweet. The ML starts out so unlikeable but by the end, he's truly redeemed himself and earned the forgiveness of the FL. I also like that the author didn't brush over his bad treatment of the FL. In the end, it's brought to light again and he's faced with his despicable past self and feels the guilt and self-recrimination. Very satisfying!

I don't know if I wrote a review before but I think this is the one story I really love to read occasionally. There is just something really warm about this story that makes me love it so much. I mean if you look at it from other story points having a bad Playboy ML and naive goody two shoes MC would kill the mode cause I don't usually like these type of characters. There is no reincarnation or transmigration, just second chances. Which is epic.

What I love about this story aside for the ML's character development is the fact that the female lead did not take care of the ML out of love but out of duty. I would hate seeing love-struck abused girl taking care of the ML who had fallen from grace.

Definitely one of the best short stories I've read on novel updates. Incredible pacing and writing. The point of view works well here, we see everything from the naive mc's side. Although she doesn't understand everything happening, we do and can die over the misunderstandings...

Also- it's a tearjerker get your tissues ready.

Often with short stories, the flow can be unnatural, but the flow and build up of this story was so organic. Definitely deserves its 5 stars.

This story made me cry, it was so achingly bitter-sweet. The monkey-girl maid that is our MC is such an honestly pure-hearted, truly kind and caring character that you want all of the world for her... and it's so sweet and touching to see the Second Young Master who once hit her and laughed at her slowly learn to love and cherish her. A truly gorgeous little love story... a must-read!

One of the best Josei I have ever read! Try this story and you won’t regret it. I love the MC and her thoughts, and I think the length is perfect for the story. An enjoyable read with character development and a message :)

This is my 2nd favorite of all chinese novels I read, because it's not like others that have cheat, schemes, brain storming, dull, long, boring, etc. Instead it's heart warming and refreshing. I love the FL, she's compassionate, loyal, and kind, eventhough the second young master don't recognized her and always call her 'monkey' she didn't take it all the heart. She's a strong woman. The MC is dense, cute, sarcastic, funny and humble character who has so much inner strength despite her insecurities. She depreciates herself but accepts those qualities and somehow finds humor in them (such as her 'ugliness' and the name 'monkey')

This is an emotional story that untold by our cute MC about how the second master accompanied by our MC to overcome the Yang family disaster and when the household falls apart.

Very heart warming story... I like how the 2nd master's character development.. From bad to very loving on our FL... I even imagined the last chapter on my mind.. I didn't cry or anything but I'm touched.

It was a short story but it was jam-packed with emotions.
