This is a tale that distorts the scenario of an otome game.

An orphan girl named Alicia is attacked by a woman trying to steal her body to become the “heroine”. From the fragmentary knowledge she acquires, Alicia learns that this world is the stage of an “otome game” in a “world of sword and magic”.

Having learned the truth from the knowledge she obtained, the immature Alicia dismisses the otome game as “nonsense” and runs away from the orphanage to escape the fate of the “heroine”.

A villainess aims to take her life. A fake heroine appears. Alicia trains herself using the fragmentary knowledge she has gained in order to survive, growing into the “Strongest Assassin” that is feared by both the Thieves’ Guild and the Assassins’ Guild.

I've read translations of the author's three prior works, and this definitely has the same feeling. The author leans towards a slightly darker fantasy lined with a healthy dose of dark humor. The quality has always been consistent. The pacing tends to be steady and monotony is broken the second it appears.

This seems to be the 4th series with a female lead, with brutal tendencies, living in video-game-meets-reality scenario for the author. The author it's seasoned, consistent, and creative. This is why I have confidence in giving this 5 stars... more>> after the first chapter. I look forward to see how they surprise me with this one.

The translation seems decent so far. I don't remember the last time I heard someone say "environs" or "comely, " but it's definitely not Google translate. So far so good. <<less

Different from a typical shoujo-themed otome novel, this story is more of an action-adventure detailing the protagonist's life after she gains the memories of a reincarnated woman who tried to kill her and replace her as the 'heroine' of an otome game by implanting her ego into the protagonist via a magic crystal.

Spoiler

She failed and was instead killed by the protagonist, but the protagonist gained part of her memories and realised that she was the 'heroine'. However, instead of accepting her role as the heroine she instead escaped from her orphanage to live a life on her own terms.

[collapse]

It's refreshing to read a novel in the otome genre where the MC acts on her own initiative without being reliant on men's help and protection. This heroine doesn't pull her punches and doesn't shirk from killing her enemies when needed.

If you like female protagonists with grit and determination then I definitely recommend this one. I haven't read the light novel version so I can't say which version is better though. <<less

i want to give a 5 rating because early stories is really good and enjoyable, but starting vol 3 everything is crumble into your typical shounen story.

in vol 3 unexpectedly the MC will become the STRONGEST CREATURE in the story with astounding plot armor, and every power scale become meaningless in front of the MC. Why ?

here MC will started a fight with stronger enemies but her level is 3 with assasin build but her enemies will be lvl 5 with warrior build, but the MC can win from those... more>> with "head on battle" and only scrath in her body, yes no WOUND at all !!

with the story explained lvl 3 is weak and normal but rank 5 is extraordinary with only a few human can achieve in the whole world in the story then if convert it to gaming analogy is like :

lvl 50 assasin vs LVL 100 warrior in a small room then magically the lvl 50 assasin will win the battle with 95% HP.

and also, MC with high ranked cat monster falling to the hole with the same height and same time + MC unconsious while falling.

the monster close to death. The MC no injured at all only lacking mana after fighting the cat monster.

conclusion : this novel is a joke after vol 2, not worth at all. <<less

Yeah, I'm going to give a 3*. To be totally fair, it is a great concept. And if you read it without really thinking about anything to hard then I would imagine that it's a really great read as well. Unfortunately, I don't have that ability. There's quite a few issues that annoy me but these are the big ones that I just have to point out.

First and foremost. Is everyone who's giving this 5* just sitting there pretending that the MC isn't 7-12 years old? Multiple times, especially early... more>> on (when it's the most egregious), it's expressed and hinted at how multiple guys find her to be very attractive. Often time, these guys were adults. Starting at age 8 she starts going to an armor shop and getting questionably reveling outfits and by age 12, it's straight up lingerie. The author insists that magic makes kids grow faster so she actually looks 2 or 3 years older..... like that somehow makes it ok. Idk, maybe it's just me, but that's just... no.

The ranks and power levels are a mess and they don't make any sense. Also, they don't matter according to the author. Sometimes they do though, just not for the MC. Firstly the MC punches way about her level so you already have a distorted view of levels and power scaling. Then the people who are really "high level" are suppose to be rare, but those are the only people the MC interacts with so your sense of power in this world is totally skewed. To piggy back off this point. The nobility grow up and level up faster because they learn magic at an early age. This is a well known fact by virtually everyone. Peasants can't do that though because they can't afford the book needed to learn the first level of magic or afford the subsequent teachers for higher levels. Here's the issue with that. All you need to learn magic in this world is to know the word and repeat it over and over until it finally activates..... its like the author builds up this grandiose wall preventing people from getting into the city but if you look for like...5 min there is a gate you could just walk through. You're telling me that these kids or there parents couldn't pay a small fee to a random struggling adventurer for a single word?

Believe it or not, the things mentioned above aren't actually my biggest issue. No, my biggest issiue is that the author tries to gaslight you into thinking the MC is this cold logical protagonist. She is not. Cold? Sure, yeah, I can admit that. Logical though? Absolutely not. She escalates just about every interaction to mu*der for virtually any reason. Sometimes sure, it makes sense in the confines of the story. But the it's rarely the best way to solve the problem, the MC is just unaware of how to communicate properly or how to handle conflict in any way other than violence. I don't even mind her mu*derous tendencies. It was one of the reasons I kept reading. But don't also try to convince me that she's somehow in the right.

Alright I'm done ranting. I do still believe that you could really enjoy the story of you are the type of person who can just read and enjoy the story without logic checking things. I'm just not one of those people so I can't do the 5* thing. <<less

So my review time, I'll keep it simple but hoping to make it informative as well.

  1. This story is not your typical otome game stories with romance and cliches.
  2. The MC is a very level headed and cold person. My most fav trade about Aria ❤️❤️
  3. Still no particular appearance of ML and our MC only and solely focuses on getting strong and eliminating her enemies. And even tho she is cold, MC still cares and pays people back who have been good to her.
  4. Tho I am actually reading this story all to see who is gonna stir MC's emotions and let her feel the budding feelings of love and such ❤️❤️ I hope it's someone super strong and matches MC's level headedness personality
  5. I highly recommend reading it to people who are looking for something different from romance and wholesome stories.

Ok. The premise seemed interesting. I was on board and excited up until the MC absorbed the knowledge of the reincarnated. Here’s the thing with reincarnation stories. We are willing to overlook a 3 year old being able to do a bunch of advanced stuff because they are actually 30 in a 3 year olds body. Fine.

But the MC here is just a 7 year old. They aren’t a 7 year old with past memories, they aren’t even a 7 year old who seemed particularly unique. Just a girl who’s... more>> parents were killed and she ran away from the orphanage fearing death. NORMAL. But you’re telling me, that after this 7 year old receives knowledge (remember the author himself repeatedly exclaims that none of the reincarnates personality entered mc) and not even complete knowledge at that, she quickly and easily assumes the role of a cold blooded killer?

Again this was just knowledge. The only possible difference being that she was able to instantly understand it. But what knowledge did she gain, that not only instantly overwrote the personality of a normal 7 year old, but instead of making her cry like a normal 7 year old girl, return to the place she ran from to kill someone FOR THE FIRST TIME?!

Here’s the thing. That alone tells me how the story will be. The author wanted the MC to kill the hag. But he didn’t care how she got to that point. So even if I didn’t read past 2 chapters, I predict that she will be killing people she shouldn’t be able to kill that she didn’t really need to kill. Like at least give us and her some time to sit and grapple with the fact that her life is a lie made for a game. That all the hurt she went through and the love lost was just for a s*upid romance game. Maybe after quite some time, when she’s at the age to understand it (has any of these authors spoken to a 7 year old before? Try explaining something that complicated to them lol), she sees life having less value. MAYBE THEN, her being willing to kill at the drop of a hat makes sense because it was all a lie.

Oh? She rejects that the world is a game and doesn’t believe it? Sure I’d believe that but then in the same breathe she discusses confirming the events of the game and the predictions the reincarnator had. The author wants a result, but he doesn’t care how he gets it. He doesn’t care that it makes sense. And that’s enough to help me predict how the rest of the story will go. Is she going to be the strongest? Maybe, but I doubt how she gets there will be compelling. I was REALLY hopeful for this <<less

Hi, there.

This is a great novel as MC does not shy away from killing those who block her path.

MC is very clever and doesn't let her emotion get better of her.

So it feels like a fresh breath of air for otome troupe.

I have been reading this story for a while and I find it really interesting... The MC actually had to work hard, and it was not like she was invulnerable... she almost died several times and though it does look like sometimes it felt like she had plot armor (Which is to be expected since she is the MC) she needed to struggle and simply does not beat her opponent straight ahead. She plans her moves and makes sure she has the upper hand and even if she did get... more>> disadvantage, she would also take drastic methods that would put her at drastic risk that she would be dancing with death to survive, but well, as to be expected being the MC the most she would end up was to be on the verge of death and surviving. Overall, it is quite an interesting piece. <<less

I love this novel. The idea of a female shonen protagonist in Isekai, who's not a reincarnation, yet has basic awareness about the otome game was fresh when I started this. With no sudden powerups for no reason, the MCs journey to strength is amazing. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a weakest-to-strong protagonist kind of stories with no pointless romance.

Even the after story is interesting.
