Really Interesting! A different approach to the same old story. No Harem. Not really any companions. Just a dude traveling around doing stuff.

Slow life as an adventurer. A nice read

Are you wondering why there are so many tags? Well, it is partly my fault, because I added many of them.

The protagonist travels the world, sees and experiences many things. Because of that many tags are applicable. He has practically an unlimited lifespan, he isn't and doesn't feel pressed for time. As such he tries and learns different things, tries different weapons and sticks to a few things. We mostly see him working as an adventurer, but he may spend years in between working as a farmer or in a... more>> different profession, though we won't see as much of it, for most of these years are placed in time skips. As of chapter 165 more or less 10 years have passed since the beginning of the novel.

And at one point he suffers a harsh setback which makes him weaker and his life harder, but he learns to overcome it. I want to mention it, because I thought the novel quality would drop after that setback, but instead reading how he adjusts to his new circumstances and learns to live on instead becomes one of its strengths.

As of now there are very slight hints of romance. The author begins to tease the reader with it at one point and introduces a woman who may possibly be a future romantic partner. Though this won't happen as the protagonists' mentality is geared towards becoming stronger, defeating stronger and stronger enemies and seeing and experiencing many different things. He is one of those people who can't stay for too long at one place and becomes restless every couple years and moves to another settlement, experiencing a similar yet different life in a similar yet different place. <<less

Too early to rate at 2 chapters, but I will say this is interesting so far.

The prologue starts out with the standard "my life is boring, oh look, a truck is coming at me", but then it gets amusing. It's like the author decided to use all the standard isekai tropes, but turn them slightly on their heads. I am OK with this - tropes are tropes for a reason, right? As long as they're done well I'll give it a read and so far that seems to be the... more>> case: as an example, MC cannot have appraisal or storage because they are ultra powerful skills (suggesting he will eventually get them at some point).

Second chapter he's dropped into the world and trying to sort things (also amusingly written). I would have said this has the promise to be a pretty good comedy, but the end of the second chapter has me wondering at the direction this story will take (MC watched someone get killed by bandits).

Definitely going to keep reading this one. Will re-visit review after more chapters/if things change drastically.

Edit: Sep 9, have now read chapters 3 and 4

This is still refreshing as compared to standard isekai (and still pretty funny). The bandit thing seems to be a setup to show he's smart enough to know he's not up to getting involved with that. He went the other way vs the normal "I'm OP so I'll just dive in here and somehow save the day even though I really shouldn't know how". There's also an amusing bit when a monster attacks him and he bends backwards (a la Matrix), but ends up on the ground on his back. <<less

Wow, it is my first 5 rated novel in very long time.

It is orginal, for just that I woul give it 4.

World building and plot has actual depth in it, no common skiping over hard maters.

... more>> Propely placed main character growth, not to slow, and not to fast, that to deserves at last 4.

Author shot himself in foot - because main character has to lave places he lives every few years, there is need for dozens of second and background characters, and author somehow manages with that. They don t feel generic or ameba like. <<less

Very good so far. I like that the protagonists goal is simply to survive and slowly grow younger. Judging by some of the reviews for future chapters, I expect to get darker as things go on, as it's a pretty harsh world. And I'm quite looking forward to seeing that.

It's a very simple and lighthearted story without any real danger or drama which usually would not be to my liking, buy the story knows it's main strengths and executes them without any hick ups.

It feels a bit empty without any straight goals, but at the same time I haven't gotten bored so far, so it doesn't really need it.

It's exactly what the title says. (And Old Man Adventurer's Boring Steady Journey through Another World)

"Slow life" stories need quirky characters and/or an interesting setting for the reader to slowly learn about alongside the protagonist. This one has offered neither so far, and any problems that have arisen have been dealt with pretty easily and quickly.

It's readable, and I wouldn't really mind continuing to read because I have no problem with any of the content, but I'd definitely forget the novel exists if I never see another update. It's... more>> that kind of story. <<less

Out of all the isekai tales I’ve read, I enjoy this one as a top 20 favorite. World building is huge, character development is slow and engaging, not to mention more realistic than the OP MC versions, plus no harem... which I find stale. Also excellent translation! Many thanks and please continue this series as I will be sad if it fades off the novel update board.

It's pretty decent. MC is humbled,

loses (half-ish) a leg

, and the story is quite more realistic than some go-to-another-world-stories. He does move around a lot so don't get too comfortable. Plus he can make really bad decisions, pretty sure it's for the tropes. Anyways, it's a good time spender, but not definitely something I wouldn't finish in one sitting.

Pretty sure it's not completed yet. Let's just say I would be very unhappy is so....

I don't know how to add stars but I give it 4-5 stars.
