Kyosuke Kosaka, a normal seventeen-year-old high-school student, hasn’t gotten along with his younger sister, Kirino, in years. For longer than he can remember, Kirino has ignored his comings and goings and looked at him with spurning eyes. It seemed as if the relationship between Kyosuke and his sister, now fourteen, would continue this way forever.

One day, however, Kyosuke finds a DVD case of a magical girl anime entitled Hoshikuzu Witch Meruru (Stardust Witch Meruru), which had fallen into the entranceway of his house. To Kyosuke’s surprise, inside the case is a hidden adult video game titled Imoto to Koishiyo! (Love with Little Sister!)

It is a solid romance light novel. Every character has an interesting personality, none are bundles of tropes like many light novels. The main character is realistic in his interactions with his heroine and his harem. The ending is solid, there be no disappointments there. Just don't expect action, ero, or adventure in this novel; it is a pure romance (with harem) novel.

I loved the first half of this series. The struggle of having a hobby that society doesn't approve of and then the MC helps his sister find people who are into the samr thing as her, while struggling to accept her interests himself is fun to read.

What I hated was obviously selfish, tsundere, and possessive sister Kirino. Even though there is an arc where she helps her brother with his pain, which signifies growth, eveything else she does is rather immature, childish and without any logic. And, somehow she is actually a model who earns tons to finance her "little sister" game playing hobby, which is extremely hard to believe.

Spoiler

The best girl is of course, her gothic frenemy Kuroneko, whose abrupt change in character is shocking but is basically a setup for our lead couple to get together.

Other characters such as her yandere friend Ayase, who's bit obsessed with what she likes, the glasses girl, who's unashamed to show what she is interested in despite being harshly judged and Kuroneko, who's dedicated to her interests while juggling her role as a big sister in the family. Her strict father and his childhood friend, who nurses a crush on him also show some depth to their characters later in the series.

The second half of this series is abit disappointing, but manages to stay good due to the bonds he makes unwittingly, while helping his sister.

Overall, an enjoyable read, if you ignore the abrupt twists in the story. <<less
