I usually dislike novel that involve whole class summon because of the amount of side characters that need to be explained in the early chapters, of course there are some of them where the MC leaves the group and start his own journey and build up his characters but in this novel seems not like it. MC stick with the classmate... MC have weak personalities.. the situation is getting worse and he will eventually turn into NPC-ish treatment.. wtf kind of MC is this... some might enjoy it but the... more>> monologue explanation are just too many and boring. Maybe because the skill that able him to teleport back to Japan make his personalities very boring.... others were having hard time for food while he able to eat hot food serve by his mother are giving him too much security. <<less

First of all, MC's ability is "Transfer", not "Teleportation", so if you come expecting cool FF15 battle and such, you would be disappointed. In fact, the author did everything to make the MC non-combat-oriented while still be useful, which is what I really really like. If you're tired of novels where social-ranking is measured by combat-power, this should be a pretty good read.

Although there are combat and game-like element in this novel, there is no wall-of-status that fills every chapter. Other than the "level", the author shows no other game-like... more>> numerical value. In my opinion, it's better than those numbers that other author pulls out of random. Org that was obviously unbalanced. The other game-like element is the unique ability that gets expanded every 5 levels. I find them interesting and the author incorporated them well into the story, instead of a forgettable list of names and skills that none remembers after they don't show up for 2 chapters.

The author did a pretty decent job of "Show, Don't Tell". There are exposition here and there, but overall the novel feels pretty smooth in term of world building. I can't say the world is fresh and unique, but at least every unique ability is useful in its own way. The author tried to avoid the trope of "useless ability, looked down upon, turned OP, revenge and face-slapping"; the first half is true, but the MC doesn't turn into a vengeful edgy kid but rather a bro who wants to protect his friends.

For some people, the above can be considered a con instead of pro. The story feels very slow as the group of characters goes on a cycle of leveling and experimenting with their ability. Although the story is told from the perspective of the MC only, he is pretty.. Unremarkable. There is no "background" character as contrast to make the reader feels better about the MC. His ability is "Cheat-like" and very useful, but so does everyone else. The author ruined some of the readers' self-insert fantasy to avoid those overly-used trope in other isekai novels. <<less

I'll keep it short and simple. Honestly, it's not bad and the fact it's not a Harem is very pleasing, making it more Plot orientated. ... more>>
Spoiler

It's the first time I've seen a harmonious party of friends in a Isekai. It makes it refreshing MC not the only OP here.

It makes me want to see more of their friends getting higher cheats, but it doesn't really happen. Once again why it doesn't live up to it's potential and plot is pretty lazy.

Dormideous@ Makes a good point that this is supposed to be a relaxing novel

[collapse]

The thing is that the story doesn't pick itself up till 40-50 chapters so you really have to wait.

Romance: I love the Romance! But too much-wasted potential.

My BIGGEST issue with this story is that it gives a different impression from the Book Covers. Where the hell is that loli girl?! Most importantly why the Main Heroine on the cover in all Volumes?! She hardly shows up..
Spoiler

She dies.

I was quite confident she would be resurrected fast due to her strong role in this story and LN Covers

I read a bit on the Raws and skipped a bit but the story seems not well thought.

[collapse]

It fills me with regret that we might never read the LN... It's obviously a lot better. It's frustrating to read rough drafts like these. [This WN has too many holes that have a lot of potential but not filled]

If I had to say this is the better version of 'Monster no Goshujin-sama' <<less

The novel is quite good, its a shame however that the upload frequency is abysmal.

Lets first talk about the MC. The main character can be considered as mild, a soft spoken and caring young man. This doesn’t take away from the story in my honest opinion. Frankly I’m sick of reading about strong and stubborn scums of society that rush ahead to fight the big bad thing on the horizon. The MC seems to truly care about the side characters and actively feels a wide range of emotions. At least,... more>> the MC is more dynamic and interesting compared to the “hit it, if it doesn’t break then hit it harder!” Type MCs that show up in other novels.

About the ability itself. I cannot go into too much detail about the ability in the interest of not spoiling the book for you all but I can say this; the ability is not OP and can even be considered as average strength. Don’t get me wrong, the ability is unique and interesting, its just not an ability that crushes all who stand in the MC’s path.

About the side characters. The other personalities in the books are fairly fleshed out and do have distinct personalities. However, there are some pitfalls that I notice. Firstly, the author wants to emphasize on the importance of all the side characters. This is a nice thing but it does mean that the amount of info you have to remember increases which leads to some confusion when you are reading. You might get some things mixed up. Secondly, the “enemy” side characters are a little shallow. They seem to have a very stereotypical bad guy personality. It vaguely feels as though the author has used a “villain template” for all of them. To be fair though, the first point that I raised is cancelled out in some part due to the efforts of the translators who seem to have created a table at the bottom of the chapters that keeps track of the various characters and abilities etc.

As for the world building, not much can be said since the book is only 41 chapters in and not much progress has occurred in the area of exploration. Of what I have seen in these 41 chapters, the world building has no glaring problems and seems to be fairly good.

The big picture: Overall, the book is indeed a good read. I find it quite nice, its fairly relaxed and casual resulting in refreshing experience compared to the blood pumping novels that you might find alongside this book. There is romance but again, since we are only 41 chapters in, I didn’t want to judge the book on its romance yet. The biggest and most major downfall of the book would be upload frequency, which is the sole reason why the book doesn’t receive a full five stars from me. You see, the chapters aren’t notably long and considering the fact that an upload only comes every 7 to 9 days..... it can be said that its a little unsatisfying. Add on the fact that the pace of the story isn’t very fast and can actually be considered slow, although 40 chapters have passed it feels more like 10 or less. I would definetly recommend waiting for the book to atleast accumulate 100 to 200 chapters before reading it unless you are okay with the upload frequency. <<less

The novel has a fairly solid setup and good character development. I enjoyed the MC's personality in the beginning chapters, and until c45 it seemed like the romance would be a slow but solid path as well. There were a couple issues that ended up making me concerned for the novel's future, though, so I doubt I'll continue beyond the current c59 and dropped the novel from 4 stars to 3.

Spoiler
  • The author might be a high school student, or at least inexperienced with regular cooking? The author seems to use long metal swords and thin convenience sword kitchen knives interchangeably, and as someone who's cooked before in any capacity I can tell you that a $15 knife ain't cutting through dragon scales and bear flesh like butter in the way the knives in this novel do. Not necessarily a demerit, just a difference in perspective really.
  • At c45, the author drastically changed the flow of the novel to forcibly uproot the plot into a new direction. Romance arc? The girl died. Suspense over overbearing combat group? Gone, cause half of them died. Slow MC growth? Who cares, the MC starts gaining levels like a champ from here on. Hesitant classmates? All of them either died or start supporting the MC like he's their lord and savior. Methodical and philosophical MC? Now, now he's just edgy. The transition felt rushed, and I felt the original storyline and characters got sacrificed as a result. Although the MC losing a romantic interest isn't always bad from a narrative perspective, the author made the MC turn edgy and stop listening to his friends. I can only see a future romantic interest becoming his mommy to cure his depression instead of a true supporter equally by his side.

This novel is ok. The MC has a weak personality and the writing and other supporting characters don't really make up for a lackluster monologue style of writing. The basic ideas make it interesting, kind of a lord of the flies with magic where society structures itself around abilities useful for combat. Also, even though the MC CAN go back to japan its rather limited and he doesn't put it to good use. Finally, if it wasn't for limited magic and monsters, this would be a trapped in the mountains... more>> instead of isekai novel. Try it if you have time to kill. <<less
