The residents of the Lingyi Continent have long been troubled by mental energy disorders, making them cautious and afraid of one day completely turning into mindless Loathsome Beasts. However, they discover that a dessert shop called “Perfect Desserts” in a small border town sells desserts that are not only delicious but can also alleviate the pain of mental energy disorders!

Lu Qi is the youngest and most promising general of the empire. While pursuing Loathsome Beasts, he falls into an ambush and reverts to his small snake form, only to be picked up and cared for by his most disliked feline beastman.

No conclusion or any sort of closure with the best friend and her own love interest

3ML (best friend's bro) only showed up like twice, even though it sounds like he was supposed to hover around FL until she got annoyed

Never really answered the question to whether FL was the kitten that played with (accidentally tormented) ML

Never answered how FL and OG were born in the wrong worlds

Inconsistent terminology

The world-saving stuff was kinda... boring? I dunno how else to describe it. Also no mention of how docile vampires integrated into beastman society post-war

THE DESSERTS/DESSERT SHOP (S) BECOME AN AFTERTHOUGHT AFTER SHE GOES TO THE CAPITOL. I thought it would be similar to SSS cafe in front of a dungeon, where her power-imbued sweets would contribute to the world-saving but it's just... her secret hereditary power with none of the sweets... wow, haven't seen that before... >.>

FL's also pretty boring. Soft and sweet and likeable to everyone. The only time she shows any differentiating personality is when she becomes distant to the ML after his identity reveal and then sassy once she realizes what she can get away with

ML's sharp, but also pretty soft. He's a tsundere vinegar jar, and it's so cute. I really like that he isn't a stoic and cold ML. He's openly petty and would stoop down to a "No, YOUR MOM" fight if provoked enough

Overall: This story's greatest sin is that (1) it lost the plot, and (2) became kinda boring (because of it). No innovative fusion of common tropes, just this weird, disappointing mish-mash. Adding half a point for the special chapters at the end though. I always love hearing about the OG host if they survive

Translation is super mediocre, barely acceptable MTL/chat-GPT but feeling like translators switch every few chapters - eg. Loathsome Beast switches to Beast-hater and back randomly, the country's name misspelled from Kashida to Kaxida, the robot whose name was supposedly "baby" went back to robot a few chapters later, and many many more. It appears as straight copy-paste with no human editing. This is also Guideverse, but MTL/AI uses a lot of other thesaurus words instead.

Not against AI translations making things faster for translators, but given the recent flux of absolutely... more>> unreadable/mediocre BS translations with zero oversight, it's been a big disappointment. 90% of the stuff on NU nowadays is post-chat-GPT lol

Overall story is fine, very very predictable CN-novel style. If you've read a few of these, there's nothing special about this one. MC transmigrates, but of course, is secretly a

Or alternatively: It Is Illegal to Pair a "Normal" MC with A "Top-General/CEO/Prince-ML" Because The Netizens Will Complain They're A Bad Match!

tons of relationships were just extremely cookie cutter and extremely predictable. I can name like 5-10 novels on NU with nearly identical plot:

  • MC who is the only one capable of calming the ML's spirit
  • ML who regresses to animal form and lives with the MC
  • ML's supporters secretly finding out/monitoring the situation
  • ML who is some general with top secret identity
  • ML who has a good relationship or related to the emperor/existing ruler
  • MC becomes net-famous for their Special Skillz
  • MC with a secret identity/was lost as a kid/kidnapped/whatever from a very noble/wealthy/powerful family
  • MC whose Special Skillz subtly heals the entire planet/saves the whole species/calms beast riots

Hm, the synopsis made me think something was going to happen but it hasn't happened yet or I spaced out.

This is a pretty decent read although occasionally lacks depth. I think the interactions between the FL and ML are so cute. I liked the world building and the other characters are cute as well. It has the same kind of vibe as the sort of hunter/dungeon universe does where the FL is special and can help others with her uniqueness and gathers a bunch of side characters who like her.

I've read a lot of novel and the ML of this novel takes the cake as the most mentally immature one. He kept on repeating how he detest the MC because of the experience he had when he was a child. That was still somehow understandable but to think he even refused to return to her side while he was almost going berserk was just plain s*upidity.

The first half was cute to read, especially with all the depictions of animals. But the second part where the FL grows to be so op just feels a bit cringey to read. Romance is slow and draggy too.
