ignore the pervious comments, they dislike horror/dark novels that’s why they rated 1.

But as a fan of dark novels, I rate this 4 stars.

2 stars for the really interesting plot/story.

2 star for the development of the main character (dark)

-1 star for really bad sentence structure and wording, can be a bit hard to understand but they can be skipped without missing out too much of the story.

By the way... the system wouldn't allow me to rate it 4 stars -.-'

1. Premise is bland. MC doesn’t get attacked by zombies. So what. He can’t control them.

2. MC is boring. He doesn’t show the least bit of curiosity in exploring his powers, or learning about zombies.

3. MC is an a**hole. R*pes a girl because she needs food and he says “suck my d*ck or I won’t feed you”

4. Intelligent zombies are not explored to any extent.

5. Mizuki and the other characters are also really boring and bland. Also dropped lol.

This is actually pretty good. MC is a little ret*rded sometimes. He's no hero and doesn't really do anything other than living and fking. Zombies pretty much just ignore him, nothing else special.

Not as many "plot" here. Plot is decent, more plot than "plot".

Tokiko is best girl/zombie. She only wants some love but fking MC kept forgetting about her.. Imagine bothering with anyone else when you have the beautiful and loyal Tokiko waiting at home for you.

Not a masterpiece but it does leave me wanting more.

The story is about a man who doesn't get attacked by zombies no matter what he do, Including R-18 stuff.
Spoiler

Yep he did a zombie. Sounds wrong? Yes. In his defense, said zombie is still fully intact.

[collapse]

The MC isn't a decent person, for example he

make a girl prostitute herself in exchange for food and drinks all the while hiding the fact that going around zombies is no risk for him

. The good thing about him? He actually use his head and in later chapter grow something akin to conscience. Not all of his decision is perfect but that makes him seems human enough to me.

No offence to the translator, but for reader who is interested, you should play the visual novel instead. It has already gone pass the current translated chapter. I can't say anything about the H-scene though, I mostly skip it.

Yup it's a good story with some setbacks and some translations seems doesn't well with the sentence but that's at the level of understandable. Maybe they could use a help of an editor. Overall I think 4 stars should be right to rate it.

To my fellow reviewers (people giving reviews, just like me :).) please rate accordingly without your personal preferences, that's how to give reviews not giving prejudice.

What the person below me said, extremely interesting premise, but instead of a horrible horrible protagonist, I would have to say horrible execution.. While it's true people would be cruel during a time like a Zombie apocalypse... It goes a little bit over with some scenes.. with zombies.

I recommend this to anyone who likes these zombie apocalypses, just don't expect a High school of the dead type story.

I don’t really think it’s a bad novel, it’s just the main character could be a bit better but I don’t really think he’s bad. Considering this is an apocalypse, the situation here goes out fo control quickly. It’s not a Kansen game or High School of the Dead, it’s more like a Resident Evil; the characters are trying to survived and what Mizuki has to do to protect her brothers from starvation is even logical, because she doesn’t have anything beyond her own body to give the MC. Is... more>> it good or bad what he does to get them to cooperate with him? Well, some will say yes and others will say not. There are still a lot of chapters until the end so I’ll wait to see how the novel goes. Meanwhile I’ll try to get the game, it’s quite short so I guess there is just one route and nothing more than that. <<less

TBH I am reviewing the visual novel made more than the chapters translated, because this was surprisingly better the second time I read it after reading the full english translated 'I Walk Among Zombies' series from 1 to 3, along with the vol 0 for extra stories. The games even feature choices that leads to:

Spoiler

In Vol 2, rather than setting Tokiko free, he could choose to stay with her, and all that implies. (Not a bad end BTW)

In Vol 3, rather than returning, he is once more given the choice to stay with Tokiko, which is actually a happy ending.

So yeah, for all the people that loved Tokiko, there are your chances to see how the story could've ended with her instead.

I fully admit that during first time reading this, the only thing that interested me was the world with zombies and le*ds. But the story, especially when read from the perspective of the visual novel, was a lot more interesting than expected.

The MC, Yusuke, never did change his character since the start to the end. He was and always will be the cold and cynical anti-social loner that likes to do things at his own pace and make decisions with himself as the priority, no matter what social pressures are placed upon him. He is also not evil, and more that he dislikes doing anything for free, or being in debt to anyone for anything. That and other people's problems are their own problems, and mistakes he makes are his own responsibility. Basically he has his own set of principles that ignores the usual societal norms. Whether or not other people can appreciate this kind of unwavering personality is up to them, but I personally thought it's a great survival trait in the environment he was in. The girls certainly agree lol.

The story itself may not be filled with spectacular super-human feats or rom-com left and right as expected of most JP MCs, but it is realistic in the sense that almost all characters are believable in how they think and act. This is especially prevalent in the VN due to more POV to explain their thoughts and perspective. The main villains of the story are also human, or were at least created as a result of human actions, and are the only ones that might be incomprehensible for how evil and insane they are. But perhaps that can also be chalked up to the infinite potential of human s*upidity.

In the end, I'd actually categorize this as a romantic story, where this nearly unreasonably cold and selfish MC actually finds love, in a zombie apocalypse of all places.

Seriously, read the VN. It's even got pretty good art along with full voice acting for all the girls. (But only the girls lol) <<less

Play the Visual Novel. Seriously. It is significantly and way better. As well as 18+ real content. Its amazing really for a zombie apocalypse game. And the art is pretty insane too, the web version is still good but the visual novel technically improve everything upon it and made it better.

sadly its not available in English yet so hopefully someone will pick it up someday

This novel is very good so far especially if for people who are not oversensitive. Although it doesn't have much of a story and isn't progressing in any particular direction right now if you are looking for something with a Logical MC who isn't swayed by some false sense of "Humanity" in the apocalypse then I strongly suggest giving this a try.

MC is basically how you would expect someone to behave in the apocalypse unless they are naive and bent of trying to stick to the old laws of the... more>> land. <<less

Better than I was expecting based on the tags and rating. Not anything special, but a good novel to pass your time if you like zombies with some fap material included. Hope another translator picks it up, the story was starting to get interesting.

Ero novel with good story line and reason.

The MC is a cold person. MC will not act if there is no benefit. But in the end he is nice person.

Illustration is not good enough for ero novel.

What sadden me is this novel translation group rarely release a new chapter.

Interesting concept, dark atmosphere, has decent character development and is overall a good, well-told story.

My rating of 1 star is because of my preferences. The MC is an ass. I'm not saying you have to suffer for others, but jumping from "let's help the kids I found" to telling a teenage girl to "pay with your body" is just too much. It's like he has multiple personalities, jumping from Hero to Jaded Pseudo-Villian. Every time there was a major event, the author flipped a coin to see which we'd get...

Came here from the manga and I have to say so far this is a decent ero novel with a MC with some sense. He's selfish, crass but uses his head and does try to help others without harming himself. Makes him feel a bit real. Honestly if I was in his situation I'd be selfish all the way too obviously.

Overall 3 stars

The story is your typical survival genre stuff, which I love reading.

It's true that the illustrations aren't quite there for R18 rating. But you can get that from the ero game version of this novel (developed by Seacoxx, published by Denpasoft).

If I were to compare, I'd say that this novel is similar My Girlfriend is a Zombie with a more mature and somewhat cold protagonist.
