Serel, a young boy living in the capital, calls himself just a librarian.
He works at the Royal Magical Library, where he spends his days organizing, reading, and spending time with books.

As a librarian, he thinks he’s busy, but he’s having fun, and he’s doing his job just fine, but apparently the people around him think differently.

In the first place, it is abnormal to be the sole librarian of this huge library.
He has a huge amount of knowledge and is a living textbook.
I’m sure you’ll agree with me.

I’ve been told that I’m the only court librarian in the capital, and I’ve been told this by people who have come to the library.
‘I’m just doing my job as normal’, I thought, as I went about my day at the library.

Alr, I read into it and have edited my old review to make it clearer. The MC himself is not dense he just acts that way to throw people off... probably. Anyway same as before romance is solid, action is pretty good, translation is readable, story seems rough with no information to go off of, but I hope that changes and we get better world building later. A random pov change at v1c21 where you read from a *Random 1st pov* of the 'enemy'. I do recommend reading this as... more>> well as giving it a review as I'm better at reading than giving opinions. <<less

The description is a little deceptive. The protagonist actually seems to have a low opinion of himself, despite literally every character who comes into contact with him repeatedly telling him he's worthwhile. This is not just five chapters of this sort of back-and-forth of "you're impressive" "no, I'm not impressive" "yes you are", because it's implied that important people (including the king and a princess and a court mage), all of whom he has a high opinion, all have been saying this for a long time before the story started.

If... more>> it was words alone, I'd think of it as an excuse, but his thoughts are negative too. The princess' efforts alone should have made him realize that maybe he has some value by the start of the novel, so why make him like that, author? It would have been so easy to have him do and say the same things just because he wants to stay a librarian and be surrounded by books.

... Aside from the problem with the protagonist, the plot developments and setting seem to just be there to make the protagonist look good in spite of himself, while letting the mob antagonists underestimate him just because he has a lower status. <<less
