Every awakener have star chart. The number of stars in their star chart represent the person's potential. Each star be embedded with star skill or star pet. Star skill and star pet are permanent and can't be upgraded. Ordinary people with no talent have an average of 15 stars in their star chart while talented people have 25 to more than 30 stars. MC probably has the worst talent in history with only 9 stars in his star chart. His cheat is a system that allows him to 100% absorb... more>> all star skills from from star bead. Star beads are dropped by dead star beast. Because there are two skills in each star bead, MC can have 2 star skills in each of his star. Making the total maximum number of his star skills 18. If MC absorb the same star beads multiple times, he can upgrade his star skill. First upgrade requires 10 same star beads, second upgrade requires 100 same star beads, third upgrade requires 1000 same star beads, and so on.

I read 60 chapter and I dropped it. Even with cheats MC is still really weak. The strongest effect of his cheat is related to star skills but because of his very low number of stars, it only allows MC to be better than ordinary awakener, MC is still much worse than genius. I personally like story with OP or strong MC, so this story with weak MC is not enjoyable for me. The power progression is slow. In this 59 chapter, MC only gone up from Stardust (the first realm) Lv. 2 to Stardust Lv. 4. <<less

Okay first off, this is quite the nationalistic novel. As in, more than half of the work is about either about MC working in the army beating the sh*t out of them foreigners or him in the tournaments tearing new as*hole of them outsiders, that is because most of the problems faced by him are dealt by those of different nationalities.

But is the MC a nationalistic person who looks down on foreigners? No, the vibe I am getting is actually no, because being a 25-30 yo man in the body... more>> of a 16 - 21 yo kid's body means that he is rather mature about his behavior and attitude, treat him nice and he will be nice to you, treat him and his teammates like garbage and watch the guy starts spewing insults like waterfall.

What makes me like the MC is how steadfast and hardworking he is, not to mention he has compassion for his fellow men while having the proper personality of someone living in a dungeon filled world, as in will not hesitate to kill if someone tries to mu*der him.

He is boastful in words, but not a complete brain dead that shows off all his powers, most of the times he kills his foes via wits and "information is king'', as in understanding all that is his enemies while ensuring them not knowing how absurd his power levels are at. FYI, bloody ludicrous with his skill sets, so broad that he is a demigod that can pwn most if not all foes. Yet he is humble enough to not be too rude, and occasionally he shows kindness to those in need, basically he makes me feel like Jason Asano in

Is there a harem, YES. So far we have the non-blood related older sister by two years (her mom apparently gives the heads up), who is lacking in the b**bs department, a lesbian "husky" hotting on said sister who is D in the breasts, a stoic lady superior in the army and much more in the future. I will not spoil, but there is no s*x, just verbal teases (for the majority) and casual head pats with the sister and the husky, though he does get to motorboat on rare occasions.

FYI, the MC is a god in the end and even before 15 chapters reaching the end, he is already the strongest monstrosity as commented by his lady boss, "when a person reaches a certain threshold in strength, the world might choose whether or not to tolerate such an entity, the world should be thankful that MC is merciful, as he has reached the peak where he can choose whether or not he tolerates this world."

So as a casual read, this is nice enough as a time waster, this has potential to have side stories, because FFS the author is nice enough to tie some loose ends while leaving crumbs for your imagination, the ending is a bit rushed, but when you become the strongest man on Earth and everything else is stagnated, at least he bothered to end the story with a nice ribbon on top. <<less

An unbelievably boring story. Author wrote a story where the only thing the main character does is get stronger and beat up characters.

Anyone other than the MC and the few characters around him barely have any personality whatsoever. Non-existent background/worldbuilding. Weak character development. Lack of interesting antagonists/set ups.

For me, this is a novel that's a 2.5-3 during the early and latter parts, and a 3.5-4 during the middle. Overall, I liked the execution of the dungeon system, but the story didn't impress me too much as it was really just standard tr*sh food - not well-written but feels really good while consuming.

Some thoughts:

  • This is one of those novels where nothing will go wrong for the protagonist (at least for the first 1100 chapters, there's some threat in the last 100). Nobody gets hostaged and the protag is pretty much always in control and always broken.
  • The translation is hot garbage. Combined with author inexperience in the beginning, the first 200 chapters are very hard to read. I felt that my understanding was better after going into MTL.
  • There's only 1 young master in the novel and you will quickly find out who he is within 20 chapters. Once hes done and gone, no more pop up. The story avoids pretty much all of the cancer xianxia cliches.
  • Heavyish Nationalism - the standard china number 1 fare. You meet both positive and negative foreigners, so better than some novels where all foreigners are arrogant pricks.
  • There's 0 romance in this novel. You have the 3 main girls he is close with, but even to the end no romantic relationships are formed.
Very nice... more>> fast food, was an enjoyable consumption. It's overall a 3.5 closer to 4. Not as bad as other novels I would rate 3, but definitely not good enough to be a 4. The poor translation, poor ending, and other minor flaws weigh it down. <<less

This novel seems to have received a bit of unfair reviews from people who have not read enough to make informed reviews so I'll try to provide a more balanced/informative view.

The story centers around a MC who transmigrated into the body of a 16 yrs old teenager. It takes place in an alternate Earth, were "portals" have opened to other dimensions. In this Earth, there have been some changes to history and geography, but it remains largely the same. Thus, it becomes easy for the MC to just blend in... more>> this word after absorbing the original body's memories.

In this world, people absorb skills into slots according to a "constellation" each of them could awaken. However, the MC only has 9 slots out of a maximum of 30. By all accounts, he should be considered a waste if it wasn't for his particular "cheat". As of chapter 832, he still cannot be called overpowered (with respect to his world) and has to constantly use strategies in battles (especially considering he is always trying to hide his skills).

To address some of the issues mentioned by other reviews.

  • There are 3 female characters around him, none of them has shown even a tiny bit of "love" signs towards him even at the current chapter. The MC has also not shown any desire to establish any kind of harem relationship.
  • The competition kind of plot is indeed used. Competitions go like they would in real life from regional ->national->international. MC is in high school, so it makes sense for him to participate.
  • Patriotism IS prevalent throughout the novel. However, there is no particular racism since it is mostly military pride.
  • MC loves his Weibo posts, and there are entire blocks of text that are just funny reactions to his post. These tend to just set the mood and remind the reader this is still a 17-18 year old MC (despite his original age being older). He is someone forcibly dragged into the military and directly plunged into live/death battles. In a way, these tend to be the MC's escape and reminder of normalcy
  • The portals do get explained and a whole other "grand arc" develops around "the other side".
This series reads more along the lines of Japanese novels than typical Chinese novels. You will find typical stereotypes (yandere, tsundere, etc.) along with some teenage vibes despite the serious situation the world finds itself in. It is definitely not for everyone, but I also wouldn't call it a waste of time to read. <<less

OBS: THIS NOVEL IS NOT BEING TRANSLATED FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS, AND I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT'S COMING BACK. I DO NOT RECOMMEND PICKING IT UP RIGHT NOW, IT'S JUST GONNA BE A HEADACHE WHEN YOU FINISH THE TRANSLATIONS AND HAVE TO READ THE MTL.

OBS2: I rated it as a 4.0 by accident, but for some reason the site is bugged and doesn't let me change it. It's more of a 2.5/3.0 than a four really.

TL, DR: MC kinda of OP, but not that much. Weak story and weak character... more>> development. Good jokes and funny situations. All in all, a not bad side snack of a novel.

Review:
The novel starts a bit weak, but the premise is not bad. Basically the world revolves around an energy called Star Power and people can learn techniques and fighting styles around it. Along with this energy, there`s also special zones around the globe, each with different monsters. Everyone can kill these monster and have a chance to absorb their abilities, but the catch is that everybody is born with a fixed number of skills they can absorb determined by the constellation engraved in their souls and this number determines the level of talent of any given person.

Our MC, a transmigrator who found himself in the soul of an untalented boy who can only absorb 9 skills, has a cheat that allows him to absorb more skills in each star of his constellation. It's worth mentioning that whenever you absorb an ability onto your star map, you can't neither swap it for another skill nor upgrade it, which means you have to make sure that the ability is strong and useful. However our MC's cheat allows him to bypass this rule and gives him the ability to upgrade his skills to stronger levels the more he absorbs the same skill.

There are two other character aside from the MC who get some development, them being his sister and her best friend, both being incredibly talented. The rest of the characters are kinda wack. To be honest, the genre is kinda played out (we've all seen the 'transmigrator who gets a cheat and shocks everyone with his amazing talent' trope) but the cool thing about the novel are the jokes. There were times when I was caught unaware and almost choked laughing, but this is probably one of the only good things about it, the rest is all mediocre.

Final conclusion: Read it as a side snack, the plot is weak but the jokes and situations are kinda funny. <<less

I am a bit disappointed. The MC's motivations are mostly related to helping his sister (in almost everything). I was hoping to see the MC live more for himself.
She suffocates him by barely letting him doing anything without her consent.

He listens too much to what his sister says and it was proven several times on unwise that was (like when they went to train on the "ice fields" and she decided to change the route). I believe he would be a far better leader (we saw that when he and "second last" reunited with the rest of the group or in the last tournament for instance).

He is always giving beads to everyone else when he could use them for himself (he even sold beads that he needs so he could buy beads for his sister).

I also found it annoying that is so much spare points and don't use them. I know he can earn easily points by training lower leveled skills but we saw all the time that in times in need, he always has to upgrades his skills.

Some of the misunderstandings can be exasperating.

This has some racism to it which is not a surprise, I mean there's no urban chinise novel out there that doesnt have racism in it. What I find disgusting is that the government/army is clearly holding the MC back, specially in the later chapters, the army knows how powerful the MC is but they didn't care. They still order the MC around like some sort of basic soldier, and they think that it's only right for the MC to be a s*ave for the army because it's all for... more>> china 😭. The MC even has a friend that betrayed the army, and if the government told him to kill his friend he would gladly do it, thats how patriotic he is. And of course the final boss is both the koreans and japanese who group up together just for survival, but of course they offended the MC, so the MC decided to raze the entirety of korea😭😭. Whats even harder to read is in the second world cup, the MC still struggle so much in fighting his enemies even thou most of his star techniques is the highest level 😭

The author has a weird fetish with height, he keeps comparing mc's height with girls like wtf 😭😭. And the MC is such a pu*sy 😭. I'm gay myself but even I cant help but think that MC is such a wimp.

The girls keeps physically harming MC even though most are harmless but it's just so cringe. It's 2022 why is this troupe still a thing. The MC is basically those japanese MC where the girls keeps slaping MC for no reason 😭. I see myself in the shoe of MC, maybe that's why I hated him. I'm also someone that got bullied by my malefriends, in the end of the day, all they want is for me to suck their díck, and use me as a séx slàve. <<less

Childish novel. A disappointment.

The characters are playing house. Awakened 18yo girls can go hunt some ghouls in dangerous zones. ACTING AS BODYGUARDS for a boy who was not right in the head a couple of days before. They take this burden with themselves when they are not even mature enough to protect themselves. Where the f*** are the stationed troops or policemen and why do they let these girls take a 16yo boy with them?!!! Anddd obviously they end up with mishap after playing around together. Yes, even that girl... more>> called it an adventure. But plot armor and the burden (MC) saves the day of course. Where did I read it before? Hmm...

MC tries to play dad but is indecisive and just goes with the flow.

The world has time to make competitions spanning plethora of chapters. Kids fighting each other, one envious, the other dumb, another angry. Why even bother introducing these "other worlds" and "star systems" if you're not making any good use of them, author?

I am not even going to discuss the other issues with this novel because there's no need. My suggestion is, read some Pet Summoning novels and you will probably end up better than reading this.

Check my other reviews if you are looking for decent reads. <<less

For those who've read Perfect World, you'll get a similar feeling of how the MC is treated. Being a kid and looking like a child, he passes off as Poisonous Milk Baby. It's rare for a novel to have a Bro-con female character and quite the over-protective kind towards the MC instead of the other way around.

Spoiler

Only to end up being a harem figure. Yes, this novel is def a harem, and even slyly pokes at Yuri tendencies before being straightened out by the MC's masculinity. 3 harem targets at this point.

[collapse]

It's heavy on the military side, and the MC does spouts Patriotism for his country (when its a different earth that he knows nothing about) whenever he's given the chance. Over two hundred chapters and it's mainly competitions and exploration tasks related to school/military. Lots of word content on side characters on social media discussing the competitions (some chapters are 80% just praise, envy, cursing from netizens that skipping 2-3 chapters won't hurt)

System wise, it's awkward understanding it. Seeing that he is limited to 9 slots. You see his status of map stars often but other characters keep stating he has this-amount remaining when we visually see that-amount remaining. It's confusing how it works and may require re-reading the first fifty chapters to clarify it.

I personally could not go any further in the novel as it sat too long on competitions/military since chapter 40 into the late 200's. Thus I don't recommend people to read ahead in the raws but to just read it casually on the side when the translations come out. <<less

It was a novel easily worth 3, 5 stars all the way until chapter 300. After that the fungal puss brained syphilis ridden dog of a translator, a certain Qidian employed MTL:er who just goes by numbers, took over the translation and completely ruined the book.

The only fault I could find from this story (before the STD ridden nuking), was that the MC and his character progression was slightly stale, at least in terms of likability and personality. I would have liked to seen more assertiveness and other qualities that... more>> relatable main characters have; even so said it was nothing overly worth worrying about. Other than that there were definitely some 'average level' parts as building blocks in the story, but they were quite fitting and did their job well enough to keep up with the pace.

Honestly though, f*ck that guy and the QI scum who decide to allow this crap. <<less

It had the potential, but it got ruined by idiotic nationalism, and fanatic patriotism. It feels more like propaganda at some points. In one instance, a character tells the MC something along the lines of "No need to explain, the country calls, and we answer". I despise this kind of garbage, it makes me wanna puke!

The translation is alright at first, but it gets real bad after 300 chapters or so. I'm guessing it's MTL after that, because it's full of errors. Especially, the gender pronouns, they are almost always... more>> wrong, which makes it very difficult to read. <<less

While there are probably other bigger issues with this novel, most of them probably are more big-picture and related to the setting and power systems, while I really want to point out here more of a low-level problem. That's the action scenes. They are horrifically hard, if not impossible, to follow. Sometimes it's a consistency issue, but mostly it's just like a bunch of disconnected things that are all happening and somehow this is supposed to make up a scene. Any time I try to actually keep some sort of... more>> sense of what is going on in a fight, I just end up massively confused.

That said, the novel doesn't just skip from fight to fight so assuming you enjoy the rest of the novel you can kind of just scan over the fights.

There are also some translation issues that pop up here and there. It feels a lot like the translator does a single pass and that's it. You'll see things like the cliche absurdly large sword described as a knife repeatedly. Even the same sentence where it's first introduced it is described as a giant 2 meter knife. A paragraph or two later it finally becomes a sword, at least for a little bit. Afterwards it switches between being a knife and sword occasionally. That said, otherwise the translation is really quite good. It's a pretty odd error to find given how good the rest of the translation is.

Most of the other stuff is already covered in the reviews decently. The power system is both weird and basic, and not in a good way. It's just ability slots with some star flavor that's of questionable influence. The powers themselves aren't super wonderful either. The setting is pretty basic and doesn't really reflect much thought on how society might develop in the setting used. It's you know, solidly meh.

The main draw is going to have to be the characters and their relationships. There's potential there. If you enjoy that part and can overlook the rest, it might be worth your time. <<less
