This was a good read, but I think my tears may have created a new ocean. The first arc was lighthearted and comedic, circling around their high school days when the FL is a vibrant youth, and the ML is an aloof young master.... more>>

the FL chased rhe ML for fun, but he ended up catching feelings and got rejected multiple times. The turning point is when her mother qin lan dies, this is when the fluffy stories turns into angst. The death of her mother sends the FL into depression. In the initial stages of grief, where it hasn’t evolved into depression yet, the FL and ML get together. However, after they get together, the females leads depression gets worse and her indifferent attitude hurts the ml. It makes him insecure in their relationship and her love, and it hurt my heart to see him always wanting to reach out but being scared of being a burden or too clingy. Eventually he feels that the relationship is just making the FL unhappy and so he initiates the breakup. During this time the FL is battling depression and insomnia. 10 years time skip later, the ML comes back from America, and they bump into each other at a restaurant. The ML acts indifferent, but actually these 10 years he has been pining for her still, and very deeply so. The FL is still battling her demons and is scared to commit. After a long while, she finds out that these 1p years, he’s always had her in his heart. He officially confesses again after 10 years and she finally agrees. No major angst from here on.

honestly I can really empathise with the fl, depression is truly a demon, and it hurts to hurt the people you love. I feel so bad for the ML who constantly blamed himself for making the FL unhappy, when actually it was not him, but the illness in her head. This novel leans more towards a submissive, clingy, and pining ml. The FL is a strong character at the start, but you see come completely fall apart after the death of her mom, becoming a shell of her former self, I just wna give both of them a hug. <<less

This was a rollercoaster of a story. Initially, I thought it would be a romanctic comedy, but I didn’t expect to cry so much. It is a very realistic story, and I’m glad I persevered and finished reading it. It was a beautiful memory.

That was so good. I haven’t read such an amazing novel in a while. I’ve been browsing for a good romance novel for such a long time when I stumbled upon this one. The ratings are so low but I’m soooo glad I gave this a try.

The ML is your typical handsome aloof young master who has both brain and beauty. To top it of, he’s a complete tsundere. But on the inside, he’s a pure and innocent guy who completely and utterly fell for the fl’s tricks, never to... more>> come out of the abyss.

The FL on the other hand, is the opposite of your stereotypical main character. She’s a hooligan with top notch speaking (swindling) skills and a no nonsense attitude. She’s your super smart ‘commoner’ who managed to get into an elite school but don’t think she can be bullied for that. There was no time wasted. Each and every grievances the FL suffer, she returns them immediately and she makes them so satisfying. She a narcissist but can make you believe in nonsense she came up with on the spot. She manages to be a ray of sunshine despite her rough childhood. You just can’t help but like her.

Their love... everything about it was so real for me. With the way the first half of the novel progressed, how pure and fun it was, that twist in the middle was like a splash of reality. It chilled me to the bones. But it’s especially because of everything they went through that the ending was so sweet and satisfying for me.

I honestly wish the novel had much more chapters. I would happily read their whole life story. <<less

The synopsis doesn't do justice to the story. It seems very light hearted, but the story is on the contrary highly emotional and full of life's choices.

FL is a very unique character almost antagonistic. She's brilliant, witty and hardworking. I think she too fell in love with the ML but was too late to realize. Her life is full of ups and down, but it doesn't diminish her vitality until her Mom passes away. Until then she's a dazzling star, very likable.

ML is typical tsundere, but he fell deep... more>> and hard, never to recover. His love is so humble, so sincere it's almost unreal. He's been rejected time and again but he could never turn back.

Both leads have contradictory personalities but at the very end they overcome all to finally be together.

I wish there were a few more chapters. Anyway thanks a lot for the heartwarming read, and special thanks to the translator. <<less

What a harsh reality covered up by a sweet and lighthearted synopsis. The beginning was funny, sweet, and relaxing. Very typical of a campus love story but the latter part was heartbreaking, suffocating, and cruel. It touches the heart of the readers and grips it tightly, making it hard to breathe.

The FL wasn't entirely heartless, but at the same time, she is. Let's just say she's more rational when it comes to relationships. However, all that crumbles when she loses the person dearest to her. She wallows in self-depreciation, self... more>> harm, and depression. It's indeed heartbreaking to read how humble the ML can be, but it's hard to point out who's more miserable, you know. After all, the FL was tired, to love, to think, even to breathe. The ML, being proud, chose to humble himself but at the same time, still has immaturity. But we can't blame him either. That's his greatest first love, first heartbreak, and he was insecure. The one who falls first will indeed lose more.

Nevertheless, despite this cruel reality, I was quite glad they made it. Although I am missing the sunshine FL, let's face it. People change, people mature, and people, once their heart is shattered, will never be the same anymore. But the great thing was, she got the ML by her side. They are healing together, being sad together, and being happy together.

Aside from that, the other characters except from the ML and FL's best friends weren't mentioned that much (especially their highschool friends). It's fine though, I can't have my attention divided though.

Overall, the story was painfully sweet and tear jerking, especially for those who suffer from depression. That feeling, may not be easily understandable by others who never felt it. But for those who experienced it, no fancy or plenty of adjectives need to be said. It's something that can't be easily described by words, yet once you feel it, it will always be etched to you. I hope anyone reading this, can remember that we're not entitled to judge anyone's emotions, it may be a little thing to you but for others, it may be a big thing for others. Be a little kind to others, because everyone's fighting a battle we may not know.

I finished the story with a heavy heart but a smile on my lips. A story of youth, passion, depression, heartbreak, and most especially, redemption. 10/10. <<less

It was really enjoyable before the separation arc. There seemed to be no growth in the characters and the arc went on for far too long. I get the FL is stubborn but it was hard reading about her inability to consider the ML even though she's in therapy working through her issues. The ML was childish in his approach of her, didn't understand why he couldn't just straight up confess if he's been pining after her all these years.

Mind you they're behaving like that's as 28-30 year old adults.... more>> It gets to a point......

Didn't even feel any excitement once they reconciled.... just "about time" <<less
