“We live in a world of gliphs. The left arm chamber, right arm chamber, left leg chamber, right leg chamber, wind chamber and the heart chamber. These are the six chambers of gliph that represent a glipher’s quality.”

In his previous life, he was the best metalsmith on the continent; even the most powerful fighters came to him for weapons. He was no doubt a powerful man, but sadly, his incapability to retaliate left him at the mercy of others.

Chui Yim, once dead, reincarnated into the world of gliphs, accompanied by Heaven’s Flame. However, the violent introduction of Heaven’s Flame crippled his heart chamber.

Born with a heart deficiency, he was unable to perform strenuous exercise, let alone engage in physical fights. As such, his father who worked as a doctor made him study hard and sent him to the Riding Clouds Academy, where he met a close friend who was escaping from his family’s murderer.

Determined to write his own destiny, Chui Yim vowed to break limits and take up the path of a cultivator.

Hiya everyone, I’m SaltyTank, the translation checker of this series, also the one who licensed this series with the author.

Chui Yim, the MC of the series, is a reincarnator from the author’s other series. We follow him from the moment he is born into this new world which has a completely different cultivation system in the form of “gliphs”. While he uses his knowledge from his past life to gain advantages, he can also be oblivious to the ways of life in this “foreign” land at times.

The cultivation system in... more>> this novel is also unique and sophisticated. Most things are well-explained and backed up by the use of plants, animal products, and minerals, all of which have their own classifications and so on.

Plot-wise, we get to see action in both the South and the North, which are opposing factions on the continent, through the eyes of the MC and other characters. Build up can be slightly slow at times but the author never fails to deliver confrontations and obstacles to keep things from getting dull and repetitive.

I’m also intrigued by how the author connects all his stories to form a massive universe. Characters from his other series make their appearances in Night of the Broken Gliph, and their past lives may even have major impacts on how they choose to live their second lives. Hopefully all his novels will be translated one day so we get to see the connection between his novels (we're actually working on one already).

As this novel is from Hong Kong instead of China, it is quite different from typical Chinese wuxia novels that have plots that follow similar patterns. Hopefully this brings something refreshing for everyone to read. The original series is still ongoing so I can only review what I’ve read, but so far it’s been an enjoyable read!

This wraps up my review and I hope all of you will enjoy it too ^_^

Strong start (first volume) to a novel with an MC who is going to be some sort of blacksmith/enchanter + maybe a fighter in the future. All the side characters are fleshed out and interesting. So far, the action is low and the MC is still a kid so I am waiting for more chapters to see how the plot & MC will develop.

OK, but not good enough for me to bother with the paywall.

the MC is still a 12 year old child as of c130. I don't mind that the author writes him as mature, but he writes all of the other child characters as though they were teens or college age, even when they were only six.

also, what kind of parent allows their toddler/ small child to constantly shave his head? What kind of parent would allow a toddler or young child anywhere near a razor? I question the authors experience in this area. Also, I'm not sure why the author said bald=manly, but it did make me laugh when I read it. It was harder to take the MC seriously after that statement.

I realize its not a big deal, it just kept coming to mind since the author mentions his baldness in at least twice in ever chapter

giving this a 3 for now. I'll probably change it if/when I can read more of the story. <<less

I haven't wrote a review in awhile but this one is worth it.

The Novel has action and it's centered around the MC rather than done by the MC in most cases so if you are looking for a fast paced action filled novel with an dashing MC with handsome feminine features rescuing dxd's and leaving trails of broken hearts in his wake as he slaps this or that young master then you are out of luck.

The novel has a lot of unexpected developments in relations to side characters who are... more>> just as interesting as the MC. In most cases the MC may even be plain in comparison. This novel focuses on the MC being a jack of all trades with hyper proficiency in one subject in particular. He is gruff grumpy arrogant egotistical and boorish bordering on thuggish. That being said the novel itself recognizes this in that the characters adapt to the MC's personality not conform. The MC learns and matures as well but the story does fall into the trap of MC using his side profession more than his actual one and you are waiting for him to show his skill in that one while he actually pulling surprises and power moves with the other.

if profession one is the one he honed and brought to this world is profession 1 and profession 2 is the one he is studying and was forced to pick up the profession 1 is talked about 33% and shown 15% and profession 2 is talked about 77% and shown 85% so far.

there was all the hype in the beginning for p1 but it died down over time as the story develops but never outright disappears

I'm talking cryptically but all in all great novel, great characters, no clear hint of romance just one sided infatuation, hints of blossoming brotherhood qualities, slow well planned out world building, good introduction to side characters who aren't immediately relevant or in proximity of the MC, the follow through are nice with hints of side character side story sprinkled here and there to take focus off MC and not totally draw out the suspense thus taking away from an impending climax or development.

I will worn that this is a very slow novel. There is action but don't expect MC to be killing 9 generations and destroying bloodlines.

Spoiler

MC isn't the only one from another life in another world in this novel 😉

Slow, I still haven't found a good romance with a child MC. Author should have skipped the mc's entire childhood and adolescence, or skipped 1~3 years per chapter.

The prologue and the mc's interaction with the father is enough to give goosebumps.

I thought about skipping the chapters until he matures but from the comments, he remains a child until chapter 58, I think it goes far.

I felt like giving 1 star just for the prologue and the interaction with the father, but it would be unfair because I knocked him down... more>> in chapter 8. <<less
