It's a nice one. Quite rollercoaster. I like the MC the most. He's complex, intriguing, yet, act his age sometimes. I didn't find the ML that pitiful like the comments said. He was explored wrongly at young too but he's also not as dark and pitiful as potrayed. He was a victim and also victimised another person.

Their dialogues, mental testing, teasing and manipulation also flowed out intelligently.

... more>> MC definitely deserves better but it's undeniable that ML loves him and he also loves ML and they're both compatibly made for each other.

If was a good one. The translation is excellent too!😁 <<less

SO GOOD!!!

this story touched the deepest parts of my heart. Both the main characters are so so complex. Their feelings are portrayed in a beautiful way. Although the beginning, or the first half of the story was quite hard to get through, it's SO worth it when you do. There was redemption from the ML's part in the last half of the story. The MC is easily one of my favourite mcs😭

Im begging everyone that's reading this to read this novel🙏 I swear on my ancestors this is SO GOOD.... more>> You won't regret it.

Love this so much. ML and MC both play and manipulate each other in the beginning and go through soo much pain.

There’s a lot of psychological damage and pain. There’s trauma but with time it heals.

There is a little character growth so even if you feel like giving up cause of the ab*se just have faith like me 😭. Oh and every single one of the tags are correct. So make sure to look at the tags and if there’s something in the tags you know you’ll not be able... more>> to read through, you might as well skip this novel.

But overall it’s a HE, with good characters development and intense love... Loved very much and would recommend if you’re looking for something intense and different <<less

Absolutely love this story. Definitely not a fluffy type of story. But the sleu of emotions, angst, mind games, darkness, and etc make this story so captivating to read. Both ML and MC knew they should not in fall for each, but despite their efforts to not, they still do.

The translation iis geat and its very rare that there is a translation that updates daily. Wow! Makes the reading so much more enjoyable!

First, this novel was really lucky to be translated perfectly by Moo moo. The plot is so good that it's been a while since I appreciated this type of novel. You need to seriously consider the Tags and keep away from this novel if you're not comfortable from it. Because it is literally written there. What I love about this novel is the EPIC love between the ML and MC. I feel like this is a story that is possibly happening in real life somewhere out there.

Just finished reading the main story. Overall, it was an entertaining read and not too long. The translation was good. This reminded me of the 188 series, so if you don’t like those you probably won’t like this.

It almost felt like two stories in one. The beginning was really violent and smutty and the later parts were more sweet and even funny. I enjoyed the later parts of the novel more.

I felt there was too much smut in the beginning. In my opinion, there were too many cars when their... more>> relationship hadn’t progressed at all. Still, the cars were always hot and well-written.

The second part was very good. The plot was interesting to me and there was a good amount of both dog-blood and sugar. Although, some of the plot points seemed a bit random and I’d say the plot is quite predictable (not that I would care).

About the characters (slight spoilers) :

The ML past was really tragic and it made me feel pity towards him. I do think he still was an a*shole but it made me understand him and his actions better.

When Cheng Jingsen (ML) realized his feelings and became doting toward Yin Han (MC), it was actually kind of sweet. It was just a big transformation from abusing him to suddenly spoiling him. I can see the reason why he treated Yin Han badly in the beginning but still... I really hated Cheng Jingsen at the beginning. He did a full 180 after realizing his feelings. Sometimes at the end of the novel, I wondered whether he was the same person who ab*sed Yin Han at the beginning.

I liked Yin Han but felt bad for him. I think he deserved better and wish he would have gotten a bigger revenge at the end.

Interesting read!

Before starting this novel it is best to read through the tags and only proceed if you feel comfortable with it. This story is probably what many would consider toxic but there is something raw about it that made it mesmerizing. As the author has mentioned it is not your standard wife-chasing crematorium novel.

It is known at the beginning that the MC have a motive to stay with the ML while the ML kept the MC around as a plaything. The ML gave many chances to let the MC... more>> leave but the MC didn't. I would've liked if the author gave a small hint on why the MC insists on staying despite the ab*se. The author wanted MC's motive to be the big reveal but the lack of info during the abusive phase made it slightly difficult to empathize with the MC.

The first half of the novel is very abusive, mentally and physically. The ML is not a good person and he is very clear-headed. He knows what he is doing when he ab*sed the MC. I would suggest reading the author's notes under chapter 22. It helped to clear up some of the ML's actions and made him slightly redeemable.

The author stated that ML's ab*se and control was to temper the MC. The MC is sharp but he ultimately is still young. His pride and recklessness might land him into trouble in the dangerous environment they are in. So the ML's ab*se was to make him learn to give in. Still, I felt that the reasoning was not compelling enough for the ab*se.

Though I've got to admit that if the ML didn't love the MC, with the MC's lack of experience he will really be played to de*th.

In case anyone is wondering, the ML falls in love first. The MC took quite a while before accepting the ML and made him work for it. I really liked how the ML considered that the MC's reason to stay with him might be due to stockholm syndrome. The ab*se MC suffered and the things he had to give up to stay with the ML weren't brushed away. There are many dark themes in this novel but the overall tone wasn't that depressing. The main couple's romance is passionate and all-consuming.

The only reason why I gave this a 4* was because the story didn't feel very cohesive. There seems to be something lacking which I can't pinpoint but is prevalent after finishing the novel. The relationship progression seemed to be the core of the story. Hence, my feelings towards the main leads are pretty stale which might be the reason why this novel didn't move me as much despite the emotional storyline. However, it is a memorable read and unlike your usual wife-chasing crematorium so I would recommend giving it a try! Also many thanks to the translator for bringing us this engaging story! <<less

I love this novel very much and the translation is top notch. I'm surprised that the rating is lower than what it should be. It is heart rending but hoping for a heavy dose of sugar as the story is close to being completely translated.

I personally think that the title "New York Memoirs" perfectly captures the nostalgic tone of this piece. (If you read closely it will become clear that this story is told based on memories of the past.) This dark story is about two individuals with differences in age, lifestyles, and purposes, who learn to love each other. The scenes can be gruesome at times and the characters never fail to torture each other physically or mentally. The psychological pain experienced by the characters are genuine, so the characters' changes really left... more>> a deep impression.

The two main characters are not perfect but they have learned to love and acknowledge each other, becoming each other's support. MC sympathizes with ML so struggles hating him for what the ML did to him and his family. ML truly repents for the wrongs he did to MC in the past so he actively pursues MC after acknowledging his love for him. These two flawed characters have a love-hate relationships but ultimately learned to accommodate the other person and learn to accept the other's flaws.

This story may not be for everyone, but if you are into these kinds of stories, you will be pleasantly surprised by the author's attention to details when unraveling the characters. As you learn more about the characters, you can't help but see their actions in a different light. Even though the actions are still not justifiable, you can see why they act a certain way and understand that sometimes their is another layer of meaning behind their actions. Throughout this whole read, I always found myself question: If I was put through that situation and lived that way, what would be my choice? Would I act in the same way? <<less

I haven't read a novel this good in a very long time! Although it's a bit brutal in the beginning, the sweetness at the end makes up for it all. Would recommend!

Only one word can describe this novel completely that is "mesmerizing".

This is really a wonderful novel with a great plot line and story.

I had a great time while reading it and I think I will remember this for a very long time.

Earlier chapters indeed made me quite uncomfortable but later chapters were quite nice and easy.

I read a review saying the stories excellent but it's very like there was something missing I also felt the same the story could be more detailed, there could be a few chapters about the supporting characters. As ML character was shown cold and ruthless from the beginning I didn't understand how did you fell in love with MC. I think the part where they fell in love must be explained especially MLS.

The initial chapters on the ab*se and the torment that ML did on MC were not quite detailed. Even though I could understand that ML went through a lot in his younger days but that could not define his behaviour and the things that he did to MC.

Otherwise the story is really very well written and I highly enjoyed it.

I would recommend the story to every single person who is reading the review It's really a wonderful story and trust me you would enjoy it a lot yes the earlier chapters were full of ab*se but this story has a thing that will make you continue reading it.

Highly thankful to the author and the translators for completing this amazing story. <<less

Woahhhh, wat a ride! It was a really interesting story for me. Tho I was kinda mad and felt cheated in the ending chapters because I feel that the MC never really became as "strong" as the author has said he'll become. I was waiting for the tag "weak to strong" come true but unfortunately I was disappointed in this part. Even tho he learned fighting and gun usage and all, he was still rather too weak in my opinion.

But oh well, by the time I read the... more>> last extra this lil thing doesn't really matter much and I feel rather satisfied with the whole read and the ending. I'm just really happy that it was a good and happy ending because our MC and ML botu deserve it very much! So glad they can finally live a happy and peaceful life ❤❤❤

It's a good read and I totally recommend reading it if u want something psychological to read.
