The first volume ends at ch 132 but I couldn't get that far. Reading through the second half of the story of Song Yan and Xia Lin actually made me nauseous.

0/5 stars

This story started off as an abused MC getting to redo his life with a successful career and moving on from emotional abuse, but instead spiraled off into a toxic non-consensual relationship full of gaslighting and s*xual assault.

Their past life:

Spoiler

SY treats XL like utter sh*t and emotionally neglects him while treating him as a substitute for someone else.

After rebirth:

Spoiler

XL goes back in time four years before SY does and manages to successfully separate himself from SY who treated him like an clingy afterthought in the previous life. He's on his way to finishing his education for a successful medical career until SY comes back in time too.
After this point, the story is full of gaslighting, one instance of r*pe, and several instances of s*xual assault. SY forces himself on XL both emotionally and physically even though XL tries to get away every time.
XL also doesn't extricate himself because he had trapped himself in the toxic relationship in their last life and keeps going back like a classic domestic abuse victim who can't get away.
I don't know how the ending turns out because I had to put this down since it made me sick, but at 85/132 chapters, their relationship is utterly toxic and unhealthy and honestly f*cking horrible to read. It's frustrating how XL wants to be left alone but isn't strong enough to push him away and how SY knows he's an utter piece of dog sh*t and still forces himself on XL.

[collapse]

And I'm pretty sure the two 5 star reviews were done by the translation team for more views because I honestly can't fathom how someone could enjoy reading a story full of emotional and s*xual abuse. <<less

Haven't completely finished reading this, I just want to give trigger warning to people:

Spoiler

ML r*ped MC in chapter 65.

[collapse]

I want to stop after reading this chapter but I'll just continue first to see where it goes. I'll be honest, I'm not a big fan of the gong.

UPDATE:

I'm dropping this, I really can't stand the gong.
Spoiler

Pre-Rebirth I actually liked the gong, but after his re-birth dude becomes an obsessed yandere that he even r*ped MC in chapter 65. He locked his apartment and threw away the key through the window of his 25th-floor apartment. I was really uncomfortable reading this so I'm giving everyone a heads-up in advance.

If the story gets better from other people's reviews I'll pick it up again but at the point I'm currently at (chapter 70) it's just uncomfortable for me to read lol.

[collapse]

I won't rate it since I'm dropping it halfway. <<less

I'm sooory, this is just one of those stories that straight up annoying. If it's not for the good artstyle of the manhua, I don't think this will amount to anything.

First of all, the ML is a clown. Maybe, a whole circus! I just wanna confirm if Yu LouTong didn't fake his death, is there even a chance for them to be together? I don't think so. I hate the ML, throughout his repentance he's always been so selfish. It's giving me goosebumps. Yuck.

Has he ever ask the MC if... more>> he still wants to be with him? Considering the MC's past actions, he should take the hint and stay away. I hate how his past actions would just amount to "It's just', " I'm just", "It's because" and it's straight up funny that they have a ton amount of fantasy to resolve everything.

We're pretty hopeless here man, right?

The amount of supernaturals here in the story just turn everything extremely childish. I started to wonder if this actually written by a kid? And I started to question my life. Should I have just write my own story? I feel so hopeless that I'm actually reading a child's story!

This story is so groundless I'm crying. This is one of the story that will overflow you with too much angst and the amount to ease your heartaches will just amount to one sacrifice one leg.

I hate how the ML would always consider his feelings before the MC, are you actually the victim here? Aaaand, do they end up together because the MC actually feel loved, at ease and happy? No, they actually end up together because of GUILT.

Y'ALL I'M SO FRUSTRATED!! The story has too much potential, I'm actually considering to recommend this to anyone who have read Decades of Deep Love (for the sake of HE in alternate world) but never mind let's all pack our things this is bullsh*t.

Idk why do they turn this into manhua, I'm just gonna think that they (artist) want to change something because they feel dissatisfied too like myself.

Ps. I just hope that they have at least make the MC happy just a little bit because this just leaves me all hopeless and frustrated. Like a second lead to make him value himself more. Babe, you're so beautiful, you deserve the world! <<less

Dropped this at ch70. It was hard to continue. I was so sad for MC. He was treated like sh*t and was regarded as a substitute, and when he went back to past, I was happy that the courses of action MC did unintentionally brought ML to him and ML wanted to wait for MC’s reply for his confession. But I realised that the author did not want to write something more of a true HE everyone was expecting. The author wrote a toxic relationship by bringing the ML from... more>> the future back to the past. RIP. <<less

The premise is so clichée, I have already read a few novels with the same theme. The plot is full of angst and dog blood as you would expect from a Chinese BL novel with this kind of theme. However, the parallel worlds and space dimensions development threw me for a loop. Felt kinda out of place, it was that unexpected. Not sure whether that's a negative thing, though.

I stopped reading at chapter 132 because I wasn't really interested in the other pairing, the big bro x bodyguard pairing I... more>> mean. Since I only read this novel to see a scum gong regret his actions and chase is shou stopping at that point was fitting for me. <<less

Ahh.. what should I do now😫😫So frustrating, I was just reading this for fun at first, but kept going because eventually my curiosity got really unbearable. I appreciate writers who dare to make a difference. but I find it a bit difficult to accept this type of love-hate story combined with fantasy and the supernatural. Perhaps the author is eager to explain the reason for this rebirth. I continued to endure the pain and continued until chapter 113. but getting here I feel the author is really emotionally abusing the... more>> reader. MC was hurt a lot in his past life. then as if in this life he would really only care about himself. but the author destroys it with MC who no matter what still tolerates ML again and again, but the author covers this by making the MC say hurtful words, Finally I don't know whether to feel sorry for MC or ML, or should feel sorry for myself because find this novel😭😭 getting closer to chapter 100's ML looks better but the Author keeps making MC hot and cold, he cares and keeps asking how ML is but when ML chases after him earnestly MC even coldly pushes him away as if he really doesn't want to come back... hey writer, if you want to make a story like that, the MC should really ignore ML from the start. not hot-cold like this!!! It just went on like that until it was almost over, but nothing was really clear between them. whenever there are good feelings between the two, then half a chapter later will be destroyed by conflict suddenly, this is already very heavy and the writer still has to add that rotten plot about rebirth, I can't even understand anything here😭😤😤 I really want to fight with the authorᕕ (ಥʖ̯ಥ) ᕗ <<less

Almost done reading this so I thought I’d leave my thoughts about this story first.

IMO, this story is essentially one huge redemption arc for the gong who screwed up big time in his original life.

To get a huge elephant out of the room, ... more>>
Spoiler

yes the gong did r*pe the shou. It happened because he hit his head after passing out from exhaustion and got all his memories from his past life back, and was really really emotionally unstable.

Not justifying his actions here, just explaining what led to it.

The gong did feel pretty bad about it after, but well, what’s done is done. :/

[collapse]

Essentially the novel is about a shou that wants a redo on his life after living his first life as someone else’s replacement, and a gong that has come to learn the error of his ways and tries his best to make amends, only he might just be a little too late as the shou really is very determined to not fall in love with him anymore in their new life.

For those that love watching gongs groveling and trying their damnest to win their shou back after wronging them, this is for you.

Though the gong was an as*hole at first, he does get better. In fact there are times when I actually feel bad for him.

I feel like both the readers and the shou are on the same journey to forgive the gong for what he has done to the shou in their past lives.

Spoiler

He damaged his leg beyond repair trying to keep the shou safe during a mud slide and has to live in a wheelchair since. And he is VERY determined to save the shou from the shou’s terminal illness that killed him in his first life.

I won’t spoil how, but yeah it’s worth considering.

[collapse]

Also there’s the side pairing that gets their own story in the second volume, excited to read about them once I’m done with the first one! It stars the shou’s servant/butler and his elder brother.

After reading it till now, I’d recommend it for anyone willing to give as*hole gongs second chances as I think this one really did learn the error of his ways and does try his best to make it up to his shou. <<less

I read over the reviews and decided to scan over volume one and volume two in Wattpad it was a little confusing but I am happy that I didn’t waste my time reading both volumes they almost seem like it two entirely different stories. It’s hard for me to understand even in a fictional setting how after Song Yan recovers his memories he is so abusive.

Can somebody spoil for me because it was unclear in the Wattpad translation is Song Yan going to age ? It got so confusing once... more>> they started the whole parallel dimension <<less

I don't know why this story has such low ratings. In my opinion, it's a pretty good story with a lot of twists ad turns. One of the best rebirth novel I've read tbh. And I really liked the author's world building. I have read this on wattpad and I pretty muc enjoyed it.

The whole fantasy thing was weird and felt like fillers. Author is doing more for the fantasy plot than the main couple's romance. It wasn't executed well because it's just throwing various information all at once, none are memorable.

ML treats MC as a rebound because he did mention along the lines of "what if we got back together again" with WM. He still loved WM and MC was right for saying that ML was treating him as a substitute. If it weren't for WM clearing things up, MC would still... more>> be a substitute. I kinda dislike the story because of ML's rebirth, it was heartbreaking to read because I wanted MC to be happy and not think of the past. I'm not going to pity ML just because he planned to marry MC because let's not forget that he thought of going back with WM. I'm confused of ML's feelings towards MC after rebirth, it makes ke think that he does like MC in the past life but at the same time... he likes WM. It feels like emotional cheating. Glad he got his redemption arc and it's 4+ years of redemption.

I like the WM in this one because they're 100% innocent except for faking their death, just felt like they didn't think it through but I'd assume WM wasn't an adult yet that time. WM is very nice but he was immature and honestly, I don't dislike but rather, I like his character. <<less
