Julia, Queen of Semele, has a problem. It is because her husband, Endimion, was the same age as her. They have been a married couple out of convenience since childhood. The two are like siblings, having used the same bed for 12 years and gone through puberty together. But one day, their relationship changed… 

“Do you really have to sleep in the same bed as me? You should fix this habit. Otherwise, the concubine who will carry your child will be disappointed…”

“A concubine who will bear my child?”

In an instant, their eye-level changed. In a daze, Julia looked up at Endimion climbing on top of her body. 

“My child, I will make it with you.” 

Her hair stood on edge to his breath tickling behind her ear. Julia bit her lips tightly. After the unsavory incident, it is really uncomfortable sleeping in the same bed with my husband. Please, can’t we use two beds?

So far, I like this novel. It's interesting and has potential to be a good read, but I have just one problem. I've noticed a trend in Asian romance novels that portrays "dense" female characters. But rather than having a low IQ or EQ they just seem to be undereducated on basic romantic concepts. For example in this novel, the Queen clearly has a conversation with the Duchess that shows she is capable of picking up on complex unspoken emotions. But she is completely baffled that a couple that has... more>> been married for 3 years has no kids and people are upset about it. Once you take that into account, it seems like the industry as a whole is pushing the idea that women should be kept in the dark about s*x and somehow it makes them cute and desirable. It might not make sense when you consider just this novel, but this site has hundreds, if not thousands of novels with the same concept. The ideal female lead that is clueless about romance and gets taken advantage of.

I know this is a rant more than a review, but I just wish this character faced actual emotional conflict instead of a flimsy misunderstanding that is not worthy of basing the entire plot around. This story and it's characters have so much potential and I just want it to be as good as it can be. <<less

People call the FL dense, but I'd say she's not. If the ML just tells her his feelings, she wouldn't be so dense. Instead, he walks in circles, plays it off like he doesn't have romantic feelings for her, and denies liking her. It's so incredibly frustrating. Just tell her you like her instead of trying to make failed attempts of seducing her. She obviously likes him, but because of him repeatedly denying that he likes her, like a normal person would, she believes he doesn't like her, and that's... more>> why she's trying to find him a concubine.

Don't waste your time. I'm going to have an aneurysm because of this ML. <<less

I am loving this so far. A hilariously dense queen and a sexually frustrated king who is so painfully obviously in love with her, but it just goes right over her head and it cracks me up. Thank you for picking this up sleepy translations! Can’t wait to read what happens next! ❤️

It's not that good. If you don't really care for good writing, not to be sarcastic, such as the flow of the story or if you change your belief to this soley being fiction then this is a story for you. It's not bad but the plot is new and basic at the same time. The background is different but such a simple concept. In addition, to other things, this story so far has close to none complexities. It's a very easy read. I say this because ultimately you might... more>> get bored. Also since this is simply r15, I would expect more development and more effort in the romance category. But as the tags go the male lead is a male yandere, in the context of this story, this kept it from displaying or hinting any type of romantic effort from the male lead. As yandere goes, the male lead rather bluntly shows an obsessive and manipulative tendency instead. (It gives the feel of "Instead of making her mine, she already is mine") Such as controlling everything around her. As the other review for this novel mentions, it glorifies female leads being "innocent". Although it may mention that she's knowledgeable, they put the common troupe of everything being hidden from her, from everyone around her. Like for what? She's 19. Spoiler ig, but she was really convinced that rather than a kiss on the hand, one's forehead should instead suffice (when another man apart from the ML greets her). Like what? It said she read romance novels, it said she was knowledgeable, even took s*x education but was tricked so easily?? Who greets someone and decides to put their forehead on someone's hand, even a 13 year old would think it's weird. And the female lead is supposed to be 19 but somehow knowledgeable? The lack of understanding and manipulation displayed really gives the vibes of it not being consensual, as she would be easily manipulated. Once again this story doesn't seem to have the depth to portray her changing into someone unacceptable of this behavior. But don't let this discourage you from reading this story. Because honestly if I didn't care to put my indepth opinion, I would say this story is like many others and that it's a cute story. Cause honestly it's exactly what you would expect. But the cover photo is cute.

Rereading this review and thinking back to the story really got me to think about how bad this story is because if an r15 novel is relying on s*x and the pressure for them to have children as romance, than it's really bad given on the fact that their will be no s*x scenes displayed as this is not r18. So the only thing they can do is give romantic effort and interaction, which this story steadily avoided, cause like honestly the female lead doesn't like him romantically but will be pressured to be with him either way so such effort is not needed. I'm saying this as they are already married, she has no where else to go, and there's no competition as he's supposed to be the strongest out of all of the civilizations. She's literally point blank stuck with him, I'm seeing near no development. I might get back to this out of curiosity on how they'll finish this story and salvage it from these speculations. But I might just try my luck finding something else that may be better. I can't hate this story because the troupe is very common and what I should of expected but I'm feeling that maybe I deserve to take some time and find something better to read.
