I really enjoyed the story, that author is amazing. I feel it is really well written and entertaining. I never had a dell moment or brake in my interest while. I spent two weeks reading everyday until I reached chapter 360, normally in that time I would get a bit bored with the story and want to do something else for awhile before getting back into the story but this one had me hooked, I couldn't stop reading it.

I seriously recommend people to not read this novel. Mc's only redeeming quality is his strength. At first it bothered me he was unnecessarily vulgar (disgusting table manners even though he doesn't need to eat, excessive burping, etc), s*upid, and ugly (well I don't really care about this but authors likes to remind us about it). But now, MC is as s*upid as ever, and he's just like a dog wagging it's tail behind his wife, seriously. That girl, MC and everyone else, think that she has the right to... more>> everything just because she's the official wife. Even though she forced the marriage and wasn't even the first girl to meet or fall for the MC. In fact, up to this point, it's debatable if she even loves him, he might like him a bit. She cares more about family that she has never met, or interacted with and family that are awful to her, than she cares about YC
Spoiler

Turns out she has a father that don't recognize her because of his benefits and a brother that lusts after her. Those two should have been killed long ago by YC but she has stopped him repeatedly. But around Ch 950, her brother almost r*ped her, and said he would do it again even if she's his sister, so YC naturally was going to kill him, yet Ruoxi told YC he would never forgive him if he did, she basically chose her rapist brother over him. Yet YC listened to her and it's like usual a dog wagging his tail

[collapse]

So all girls so far are way better than the wife. Like I seriously don't even think it's subjective at all. Like if you compare point by point with the wife there are girls that beat her in everything. Also, this novel is really weird. The author has a thing for horrible fathers, but very filial sons, of course Ruoxi beats them all. But everyone else is very filial although they sort of fix their ways at some point. Of course, Lin Ruoxi hasn't changed for the better, who knows if she ever will.

Also, MC's girls are always being kidnapped, at first it was because MC was too s*upid to have basic security measures, now it is because villains are too strong to be stopped by security measures. Also, MC is always sparing his enemies and leaving future trouble for one reason or another. And I don't mean possible trouble, it has happened multiple times, all his enemies have always come back, some more than once. About the harem, I like harem but as I said MC has no redeeming qualities, so I don't know how girls could ever fall for him. If he at least treated them fairly but no, he clearly treats better his wife than the others. At some point a girl called him out on it and I thought that could be a turning point but no, his wife still treats him like sh*t and he still treats her like she is his all, I don't think he would tolerate that attitude from any of the other girls. The whole novel is super annoying, I don't even know how it can have such a high rating, I had hopes because of it and read this far but I really can't think of anything that could make this better, other than having a drastic change of their attitude but that's unlikely. <<less

Oh. My. God. This novel is one of the best I've read so far. The characters and their interactions are everything, and make up for the fact that there is very little in the face of an overarching plot (at least for what I've noticed to this point, but I wouldn't be surprised if the book went and tied everything together at one point in a huge catharsis like that of the classic Count of Monte Cristo [which everyone should read, even if it's totally outside the genres that this... more>> site covers, as good reads are good reads]). The characters and their thoughts, motivations, dialogues, interactions and everything else are done so perfectly, I just can't stress that enough. This is the modern-day novel that the rest of the modern-day xuanhan/xianxia/action stuff tries to be. For me, this is up there with TT9H as one of the best out there, even with its faults, which include some light-ish nationalism (so far, at least. It could get better or worse) and some light misogyny (again, see nationalism). Bravo, indeed. <<less

I generally do not like harem novels, but this one is pretty good, but the MCs harem is starting to get ridiculous, can't he ever just have a one night stand? A wife, of course; a mistress, sure why not; a girlfriend, okay a little self indulgent, another girlfriend, a little variety, but come on after that unless you are literally a king with a need to guarantee your family line, why would you even want that? Aren't you just making your own life unbearably difficult with little to no... more>> incremental gain? Dropped. <<less

I found this novel before in an epub site at first when I saw it I thought its a love story kind of LN, but guess what I was wrong. I started reading this after I'm out of novels to read when I suddenly remembered this novel, when I started reading it at first I thought my guess was correct then suddenly bam there's martial arts element in the story then there I suddenly found myself hooked with this novel as the story goes I love how the story is... more>> smooth, actions great, romance is kinda different than the usual wuxia novels out there, every character is lively they have their own stories unlike in other novels which most of the girls after falling in love with MC becomes side characters. Up until now this is one of the novels I can't wait for the next translation to come out. So I highly recommend this novel to you guys if you want something different from the usual LN out there. <<less

I never really leave reviews, but for this novel I will make an exception. Main reason: Don't judge this novel by the title!

Badass overpowered MC, much fighting and nobody really cares about a "CEO".

I don't like harem plots, but in this one there is at least a full story behind each woman and they are not just briefly introduced as another flower with two additional sentences to describe some uniqueness.

It's got a mix of a lot of typical fun-to-reads such as action and romance, even a little mystery (mostly for the MC's abilities and background). Be warned though, the romance takes an incredibly long time to develop.

I can't give it a 5 star rating simply because translations are at literal turtle speed. The quality is excellent but the speed is abysmal but if a faster translator picks it up or if the translator decides to release more often it'll be a 5 star rating.

My rating actually doesn't reflect on my true feelings towards this series. CEO is a story about a male MC who is pretty much cliched, except that the girls actually dig on him only if he actually does some stuff for them. No s*x until you deserve it, basically.

There seems to be some mystery around who he is, and what his past is. But you never really care about that, unfortunately.

Then, there is the relationship between him and his 'wife due to plot'. There are some times when it... more>> gets sweet and you love to read, and other times when you think.."Do I care? I am actually looking forward to him banging his harem~~"

His harem.... There is one mafia boss. That is it. The rest is just filler. And she is a very fine character. Perhaps the best in the whole series.

We are still not totally in, at c166. But I feel that if we are not totally in by c166... It is not my fault.

Why do I still read it? guilty pleasure. This is not an ero series. But the ecchi elements of it are actually very good for a CN. Also, the MC is getting some limitations to his original OP powers. the regulation illness that keeps his health in check.

This is not Mango approved. There is no real comedy in this. Also... There are people telling this has an or*y some time in 900 chapters.. If yes, then that will be the only saving grace. <<less

The plot tells the story of a man with a blurry past and mystical identity, recently back from overseas to his birth country. The narration wants him to be looking for a way of healing his wounds (let's say suppress his inner demons) by the way of a calm and quiet life. As you can guess, veteran readers that you are, that was hopeful thinking. Indeed, our bold, direct, shameless, powerful although ordinary looking protagonist will soon find himself thanks to a classic fateful (or alcohol-driven) night entangled (in all... more>> meanings) with a cold tempered, outwardly strong but inwardly shy and somewhat childish top beauty, CEO of a big company.

There most of you can already get the picture right... well, that's exactly that! But by all means, read the stuff (preferably in a mild paced manner) because the author, with a slice-of-life way of presenting, will introduce you to a lot of characters, each more colored than the other. You're gonna have some shady businessmen looking for fleshly gratification and larger power, some (more like a really vast variety like gorgeous, strong willed, shy, daring, elusive and whatever) business women, some godfather-like gangsters, some high school teacher/student, sect people, monastery guys, government agents, gods (yes indeed)....

The author does a good job piecing all that together, it flows nicely and doesn't look too stacked.

But like any other work in sequential releases and with so much misc elements there's bound to be inconsistencies in the long term and there are here too.
Spoiler

Especially when the author tries to paint the MC as a dominant character and at the same time wants him to be considerate of others feelings, you start perceiving some creaking. Then comes the little trick the author uses for pacing and delaying, the famous 'if someone doesn't want to say things one cannot force it'. Nicely done at first but if used too much, every time one actually want to understand (get the fact that this way doesn't give you that much of a clue to ponder on right?) you find yourself considering even the relevant events in between like randomly popping stuff. You also have the way actual discussion kept been avoided for a long time between MC and Legal Wife, although the setting was on point, considering it takes time to read, the cold war should have been a bit less (and I'm even reading after completion, cannot imagine those who actually followed the original release). It's alright to want your MC to be OP yet not absolute (god for so long, seemingly absolute since there's no actual cultivation or even periodic training) and then appears suddenly stronger than gods which get your MC yearning but because one need luck and sudden enlightenment so it's useless to train? And when you say he has a huge organisation without ever mentioning the size or even making use of it when needed (only to steal a bride so far and never to prevent the overly occurring kidnapping of his relatives) pretexting a peaceful life while also stacking up weaknesses (lovers, parents...) and bringing frequently trouble to his door, I don't really want to be annoyed but I am.

[collapse]

Wanting to point out the slightly disappointing things you're gonna have quite a number even if I believe it also to be subjective.

To close it up i'd say that's definitely something worth reading, hopefully not too fast or too deep because you're gonna rise your expectations up, forget it's a slice-of-life kind and then find some things more annoying than they should be.

EDIT: (How to get from 5 to 3 stars)
Past the 400 something, although that's where you can feel a real plot, there's only a bunch of illogical stuff that the author doesn't even try to justify with shamelessness anymore. He can just hoodwink all sense of logic to link events together, I know this work is emotions-based, and those are by definition not rational, but it's still too much for me. I'm probably gonna mass skip to get it done ! <<less

Absolutely amazing!

Every chapter was interesting and exciting and although some events seemed ambiguous or pointless at times, when we see the big picture, we understand how every single event was crucial

Every character, especially women have intricate and their own personnality which is well fleshed out and consistent throughout, there is no women that are just there to please the MC for the plot, the main woman actually divorces multiple times and gets into lots of arguments and in the middle although slightly annoying and sometimes shocking, when you look at... more>> the big picture, the relationahip wouldnt have deepened as much

Yang is also despite being overpowered, is always near the brink of death, he lost his cultivation twice and both times it was so intense, once again normal mercenaries and the second time against peak cultivators, it was a real turning point and kept me on edge personally

This is the best webnovels I have ever read, I cant say enough praise about it in this short review, but I hope people would pick it up and stick with it, since its a big rollercoaster of emotions... <<less

I read this last year and I think the first 3-4 arcs were good for what it offers.

Later half becomes a mess, too many characters, power creeps, nationalism, MC character keeps switching to make the plot progress. It feels like one of those old late night dramas that keep getting drawn out without end.

I dislike the MC and his habit of collecting women. I am not a fun of harem/polygamy or any kind of more-than-one-partner relationship. And the women━, they are (disgusting) unpleasant. Why all of the woman the MC meets are pretty, beautiful and attractive? Can't someone be normal? and why most of them falls inlove with him? I don't know how to explain this but it's very displeasing

Well, first off, the MC is the exact definition of a guy who thinks with his di**... in short a thick "dickhead". He is a certified playboy, who is a master of "lust" but is sooo lacking in "love". Though towards the end, I appreciate the fact the he's willing to die for his wife (w/c shows his wife is his most favorite woman). Good job! At least the MC knows prioritization. Lol. He is also arrogant who thinks he is a God (well, actually he is), but regardless, his... more>> arrogance and ego are way bigger than his head. He is laid back and very "easy go lucky"/ "carefree" type of person... but he cares about his women (of course he f***s them whenever/ wherever he wants). It's a win-win situation for them. Anyway, regardless, infidelity is always a "BIG NO NO" for me (being a girl) but since this a Harem novel, I let it go. The MC's problems and troubles basically arise from his countless lovers, so what can I say -- he is a jerk who deserves all the troubles! Haha.

Now, let's talk about the FL, Lin Rouxin -- she is a bit*h (no doubt), ruthless & calculating businesswoman, cold, and insensitive person/wife... but she is actually "selfless" and warm/ soft on the inside. Definitely a novice/ rookie in terms of "love"... doesn't know how to express her feelings well, but I cannot really blame her. She was brought up in a family where her "supposed" dad either hurts her or brings a parade of lovers. Obviously, she grew up depending on no one but herself. Thanks to Mang Wa, at least she has someone to consider a family. From all the women involved in this novel, for me, Rouxin is the only one who exhibits "real feelings or emotions" or at least what she's been through and what she feels (in love and in their relationship) are somewhat close to reality. Her "cold" attitude towards her husband, I think, is better than being a "nagging" wife.

Now, the story is actually very entertaining and fun to read. This is the only harem novel I get to enjoy (I only read 2 harem novels including this one, haha) I'm not really a fan of Harem, I hate womanizing jerk... Tbh, I couldn't careless about the fighting scenes...I only care about the relationship and the development of the couple (the husband and wife). I like the "push and pull" effect of their relationship. I like how the MC woo the wife whenever their marriage is on the rock (shows how he cares for her and won't let go of her). I don't really give a damn about the other girls, some may say, that the MC's other lovers (like Rose) fits the role of a wife better than Rouxin -- but I think otherwise, if Rose becomes the wife, the story will be boring, without a doubt. I don't think that the other women (lovers) know the meaning of "love", sure, they are willing to sacrifice themselves, chose to be with MC no matter the consequence, have done more than what the wife has done and is willing to for the husband... but come on, they are still mistresses, they enjoy having s** with the MC, engage in "twosome" "threesome"... where's the "self-respect"? Where is love without respect? Where is love without loving one self? So, the lovers are merely sluts in plain vocabulary.

Why 3 stars? It is fun to read and I actually like the ending... but the s*upidity of the MC (and some characters) and being a jerk and a d***head that he is -- very disappointing. The story doesn't really makes sense, and the harem (I can do without them).

If you haven't read the whole chapters, don't judge it yet... as it gets interesting towards the end. So yeah, this novel is fun and at the same time irritating. But kudos to the author nonetheless.

Spoiler

*The MC has 2 sons and 3 daughters. With 17 - 1 daughter, with Lin Rouxi - twin (a boy and a girl), with Rose - 1 boy, with Jane - 1 daughter.

*Lin Rouxi has the souls of 17 and Athena. Basically, she is 17 reincarnated and Athena, the Goddess. Athena planned everything from the meetings with MC... etc. for the realization of her prophecy. She should be the one in control, but failed to decipher the word "love", hence in the end, Lin Rouxi gets to control all the souls within.

*MC sacrificed himself so as not to kill Athena, but got revived because of the Kunin mirror.

*The MC has an org* scene with his harem (imagine 11/ 12 women on the bed???) Like wtf

*The MC did not give up his harem, so the wife has to put up with his womanizing activities til the end... (feel bad for Lin Rouxi). But they lived harmoniously anyway.

*The MC gave his mistress a diamond ring (in front of wife), and gave his wife an old watch... turns out, the watch is priceless and one of a kind.

*The MC basically r*ped his wife because of jealousy... thus, the consummation of their marriage after the wedding. Though they slept (had one-night stand) at the beginning but they were both drunk and couldn't really remember what happened.

*Yes, there was a wedding ceremony with raining rose petals as a surprise gift for Rouxi.

*Lin Rouxi's power was triggered during the time when they were kidnapped and Lanlan (adopted daughter) was hurt.

*The last chapter/ ending is dedicated for the husband and wife.

Smut and such isn't the problem for me but this story made it worst. The MC is just like a girl magnet and truthfully it makes me feel like other men shouldn't include in this story at all, their presence are too little too none. I don't know what kind of vibe should I take out of this story but the funny thing about this story is only when he and his wife cold war begin. Anything else is so-so, sometime even if you skip ten chapters there's no difference.... more>> Compare to the ancient harem this is the worst.

I really struggle to try to read through this novel. I really did try to give it a chance because of all the positive reviews.

The MC is just so unlikable. To me, he just a pretentious know-it-all loafer who likes to boast but can't back it. I did read straight through to around ch. 78, but I lost my patience. He likes to lists all his "impressive background." He's a harvard graduate, he's a prince from some alien world (no joke he really did say something like that), etc.

He claims... more>> that all the ladies are attracted to him, yet at the first chapter of this novel (when he was still a street bum), women wouldn't even look twice at him. It wasn't until the MC married the beautiful CEO (Lin Ruoxi) that women started paying attention to him. The 'accomplishments' he boasts about seems to amount to nothing as he always relied on his wife to bail him out. I should probably add that they got married after Lin Ruoxi bailed him out of jail.

Most of the women he has illicit affairs with are actually likable (at least more than him). They have their own stories that gives their character interesting dimension.

I feel sorry for the wife though. I don't understand why the relationship between them is so bad. She gave her v**ginity to him, she bailed him out of jail, she provided him a life of luxuries with her wealth, but he openly cheats on her??? It unsettles me when other reviewers finds her jealous tendencies annoying. For crying out loud, THEY'RE MARRIED! Why shouldn't she be jealous? <<less
