reading raw with MTL still pretty readable.

at first it's pretty good, it's cute and fluffy, but author decided to include all members from her idol group to this story so it became your usual cliche rom-com with unnecessary build up tensions.

i just wish author will go back to cute and fluffy type of story.

Spoiler

scene where MC man up and confessed suddenly without any preparation is so bad, I don't like when they drag confession scene but when there's no build up whatsoever is just bad.

Ever watch Oreimo? This novel is basically just a reskin of that show.

Look, I did not come in with high expectations, and did not come into reading this novel without understanding that this was going to be kind of cringe and wish fulfillment in nature, but goddamn, this novel lays it thick.

I get it. Wooh, random online girl that marries you in a video game somehow is also the same idol you admire in real life, that also coincidentally goes to the same school with you. How could it not... more>> be cringe? But man, this novel takes it much further. Rinka, the female lead, is very insecure and also obsessed with Kazuto, the MC. She's super obsessed, with making "custom gear" for him, like taking voyeur shots of him and printing them out and putting them in her room. Her gap from the "cool" personality she has and the bashfulness and obsessiveness with Kazuto is apparent, and the novel really aims to make the female lead as over the top heads over heels senseless over Kazuto. She also thinks that because they were married in game, they would also be naturally, be husband and wife in real life. The author's just trying to make Rinka the most "cute" girl that loves Kazuto while also being a cool idol. Couldn't you, I don't know, make the relationship and Rinka a more realistic person? But no, the fan-service and cringe wouldn't be that high if that were the case

Oh, and Kazuto's not much better. The fact that he's a pushover and doesn't accept Rinka's feelings is probably the only thing that makes a little bit of sense. Wouldn't you feel insecure that a popular idol confesses your love to you and it all just feels like a prank, almost unrealistic? But then he's also spewing out cringe sh*t like "omg a hot idol is dating me im so happy and lucky" every chapter afterwards. Which makes sense since Kazuto's pretty unremarkable, but still, doesn't take away how it really gets stale after re-reading his monologues chapter after chapter. The author wants the reader to project himself onto Kazuto, who's a random, inoffensive guy that happens to get lucky with a girl, but that's just utter cringe, isn't it?

And then, naturally, a bunch of idols in Rinka's idol group start to make their way into Kazuto's social circle, where they all form deep " friendships" and rom-com actions ensue!!! Yeah, that's when I realized that this novel's basically another Oreimo copy. In Oreimo, yeah, sure, technically the MC isn't in a harem, but he also just befriends a bunch of idol friends just out of circumstance. Similar to Kazuto, who has a girlfriend, but also good friends with other idol girls.

Small spoiler ahead

When you have another girl in the idol group aside from Rinka that just "happens" to have a friend they want to marry in-game, and just "happens" to also be Kazuto, you know this sh*t is just pure cringe and wish-fulfillment. Plus, the other girls he happens to befriend also just happen to confide their insecurities to him for some reason.

The writing in the earlier chapters are alright honestly, which is why I'd give this a higher rating than I would normally give this novel, but it quickly devolves. <<less

Actually okay. Ultra cliché and kinda weird sometimes but it pays off emotionally.

The MC is the typical passive and dense protagonist and the FL is the typical yandere but these clichés don't go to the extreme where they make this novel completely annoying and meaningless to read. That's probably the redeeming quality of this novel: the dude is not that whiny, beta, and dense. He quickly realizes how things are and what he should do about them and then does stuff toward that objective, kinda. The girl, too, has enough... more>> of a personality on her own besides just being a yandere. The end result is something that, at least for now, feels emotionally rewarding without being over the top dramatic or s*upid.

This is just a Japanese WN that's trying to tell a silly, fun story. That's it, and for what it is, I'd say it's alright. I've definitely read a lot worse. <<less

Its pretty cliché And kinda generic well thats all it is but.......

Who am I kidding its actually quite fun well its not that good its just fun. Its like the type of book to read if your bored or something it is funny the MC sadly can be quite generic. This type of novels can be quite fun if you read it at the right time. If your into just a simple enjoyable a walk in the park type of experience feel free to read this and who knows? You'll... more>> probably get stuck reading this like I do.

Overall its an enjoyable novel. <<less

My real rating would probably be 4 star since I'm really starting to get tired of MCs who do nothing even though they have permission from their parents, siblings, friends, and basically everyone else. Although he does confess nothing else happens in the 76 chapters and they keep getting c*ckblocked everytime she initiates and almost gets a kiss. Basically what To love Ru did but not as long nor bad and theres some funny and interesting parts to this story.

The series is half serious, and half parody/satire.

The author does not hide the cliche aspects of the story, the absolute ridiculous setting where the male MC manages to get an idol as a wife.

As for the plot and flow, the gist of it is an series of cliche and tropey turns of events that get cranked up to an 11 in terms of absurdity for comedic effect while the male MC plays devils advocate of either going along with the absurdity or taking an serious stance.

Overall, I enjoyed the absurdity... more>> aspect of the story. The story flows relatively well, introducing new characters, not forgetting about the side characters, etc. It is still an romance story with beta-male MC stereotype baked into it though. If considering this web novel version as an rough draft, I can see the potential of an more polished LN being decent. An story with tropes but great execution is just as great as an innovative/new story with poor/average execution. It's not an masterpiece but I'm sure the author knows that from the start. <<less

I have a lot of tolerance for dense MCs, but what happened in the second part - after ch30 - is a new quality - very rarely I get so irritated by the s*upidity of the characters that I abandon the novel, but now I had no other choice.

It's a pity, because until 30 the whole thing was developing nicely, there was a harmonious fluff and generally such a sweet standard.

The fMC is super cute, like, she literally carries this story on her back, shes just really entertaining and interesting to read. The MC is very generic, and he made me start to get tired of the novel, and drop it when the cross dressing arc arrived. The MC is super beta, generic loner MC who's a loner and has literally zero self confidence. It's fine at first since the fMC is there to make up for his personality, but eventually reading about the MC just gets tiring. Well, I'll... more>> rate it 4 stars for the enjoyment I got out of the earlier chapters though. <<less

Fluffy and cliche. MC is your typical JP protag as always. The only thing carrying the whole novel is the FMC because till this point she's pretty well-written, and how she interacts with the MC which is quite unique

Starts out with a good premise, then falls off over time.

While the MC is still exploring his feelings, his ingame wife treats him as if they had really been married all along, with slight yandere tendencies - basically not fully appreciating the distinction between virtual worlds and real life as far as human relationships go.

That's funny for a while, but when they actually get together (which shouldn't be considered a spoiler) there's barely any development or even appearances for 30-40 chapters, and instead of progressing normally they jump straight to... more>> fetishism. The gradually development from a virtual to a real romance that I was hoping for, was missing, and I was disappointed. <<less
