Cliche angsty edgelord protagonist who has plot armor and is portrayed as smarter than everybody else in the novel. Except for the fact that, you know, the author has him go full ret*rd whenever he wants the story to go in a certain direction.

"Would it be smart to kill this enemy who hates me and will probably continue acting the exact same way they have been so far?" - "Of course not! Then where would my ANGST go!" -

"I'm a full stealth character literally broken to the point that nobody... more>> can stop me (besides Mr cliche happy go lucky guy who is incredibly helpful and nice but somehow still works for the bad guys because you know that's so honorable and all that jazz), should I make use of it to defeat my enemies?" - "LOLNO let's turn off stealth and show them who I am and then taunt them and leave, THAT will make them stop being bad guys!" <<less

The story summary probably has more content than the first 30 chapters will.

Chapter Summary

Ch 1. The MC is summoned with his class. Time passed, 0 minutes.

... more>> Ch 2. The MC checks his status. Time passed, 3 minutes.

Chapters are extremely short and cut at awkward times. The first 2 chapters might be a page long together, and are both during the same scene. In fact, I expect this 1 scene will take 8 chapters to complete, where other stories would do it in 1. This is destroying the flow and cohesion of the story.

At present, this story is below average, but subdividing chapters will likely cause the author to repeat details and parts over and over again, and it's all but guarenteed to grow worse as time progresses. While "how tr*shy" this story ends up remains to be seen, this story will enevitably end up bad. <<less

The story is interesting enough, but overall the novel is quite shallow. The biggest problems I have are really two things: your expected pu*sy of a protagonist and the pacing of the novel.

The protagonist is not the worst I've seen, he is actually a bit better than in other novels. However, his character is neither here, nor there. The author seems to want him to be the good guy, but he just leaves his classmates hanging while they are cursed. He also (so far) seems to be more selfish in... more>> self-centered then you would expect from the MC who is good. Basically, he acts as a tsundere who wants to look like a selfish egoistic person, but reluctantly helps others and behaves like a good guy because stuff happens near him and he has the chance to help. Well, and he doesn't touch a willing chick too. Basically what you expect from a japanese MC: can't touch a girl or something very bad will happen.

The novel's pacing is pissing me off, though. The author constantly switches from MC to some other boring character's POV and events. MC would be in the middle of a battle, and the author in the next chapter would switch to how few of his classmates in a different town were pickpocketed. At some point there were few consecutive chapters where the author switched every chapter - 1 chapter MC's battle, next chapter describes different town, next chapter MC, chapter after that something else. It's just so irritating. And lastly, the s*upid. MC, in the beginning, had a chance to kill the king but did not. Now he keeps going and regrets it. However, he had many chances later to kill the king and the princess. Not to mention, with his skill he can just walk into the castle and kill them and no one would be able to do anything. Then, there is the problem of the whole class is cursed. He had an opportunity and several ways to remove the curse from everyone but did not. In addition, the setup that happened around that time was just dumb and was super obvious. <<less

This novel is so cliche, I couldn't help but roll my eyes whenever the cliche scenes come up. And the pacing doesn't help this novel. It just makes everything so fricking bland. Avoid if you don't want to waste your time on something soooo... bland. But if you're into OP isekai protagonist with ability-devouring skill who goes on an adventure with a beautiful female companion, then this one is for you.

1/5 - F Tier - It’s a power fantasy through and through.

The initial hook of a hero who isn’t really a hero followed by him not being cut by the same mold (e.i being an Assassin and checking out the underbelly of the world) is, although not original in the least, still a good selling point.

However, the novel soon divulges into a situation in which the main lead is led around the nose like, guess what, a hidden hero? However, that didn’t last for too long I suppose. I have... more>> no idea what the author was entirely going for. Also, every other student aside from him are morons and one dimensional at best.

Yet, what may just be the worst is the writing: The action scenes suck so this novel is clearly not for people looking for ‘epic fights’. The dialogues suck, though they give the sense that they’re somehow supposed to be “wise” or “hidden gold between each mound of dirt”—keyword, supposed. The continual thinking of the main character merely repeats dribble that had already been said or shown. Even the amount of exposition dumping is unnerving. Plot points seem to just pop up and the MC doesn’t really seem to be in much danger, there is no tension throughout.

The MC’s ability is so OP that regular people, even people with powers, have no idea to the first step of actually finding him, much less fighting him. So, you may be left with a bitter taste of ‘Why not just go Stealth?’ I mean... it could help in fights, in chases and escapes, and in pretty much any troubles he faces. Like: “If I concealed myself, it was also possible to break their necks as I walk by.” Then why don’t you just do that and get it over with? His power could be abused so well...

The MC continuously says “I don’t really care about other people.” In fact, it’s supposedly one of his character traits, but it’s a lie. He tries to be ‘emotionless’ and the like but it just comes off as ‘edgy’.

It tries to be funny at certain moments. It fails.

The book sometimes reads like a list or summary of events (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if done right) and, If I was being honest, this author would probably write best in third person, not first. <<less

on the plus side it's not a harem (which is why this isn't a two) and MC isn't a total dense idiot when it comes to his love interest. On the minus side, why do almost all Japanese Isekei stories always vomit out so many POVs that the reader forgets who the MC is by chapter 3? You get one chapter of the MC, then several others with random people, then the "hero" (who sounds more like a jilted girlfriend). It jumps around so much that I can't bring myself... more>> to care about any of the characters which is a shame, since the whole assassin thing could have been pretty cool. It's not a terrible story but there's nothing interesting or unique enough to make up for all those POVs and cliches. <<less

Sorry translator, You did a good job but I will fail you here and now.

This novel. Is garbage, Lets ignore the genericness and near inability to draw any form of interest and how nonsensical the story is. Lets ignore the world building, plot holes lets even ignore how everything just seems bland.

I swear I read 20 chapters of this solely on my ego that refuses to leave (most) stories half finished cause yaknow you forget where you were and stuff.

Anyway now that we have ignored 90% of the things that... more>> make this story bad let me show you how it *still* deserves 1 star.

Alas, firstly the MC is a completely idiotic wimp. He acts smart but is dumb. I get everyone was hypnotized and the MC is oh so moral to not kill people even as revenge (despite saying he would), we agreed to ignore the plot holes and nonsensical story so let me bring you to our MC. He is a ret*rd, no sugar coating it plainly ret*rded. I get the concept behind 'If you are smart act a fool, if you are a fool act smart' but he isnt even acting smart, he is only thinking smart but still acting dumb, he knows he will be framed what does he do to combat it? Nothing, He knows the dangers and how everyone is being hypnotized, what does he do? He breaks some of the hypno but still lets the culprit go and guess who now knows they cant control the MC? In the end it doesnt even matter, then we have the generic forgiveness, this isnt naruto kid grow a pair and f*ck off with that forgiveness and redemption.

Japanese stories have a way of making interesting plot but ruining it with main characters and we are all used to it to the point any novel with a half decent MC becomes a god tier novel. We are used to it, but come on did you have to take out the interesting plot part too? Holy f*ck man our expectations were low but god.

This is 'Arifureta but even more sh*t with the wimpy MC at the start throughout the story', like I could atleast complete arifureta without clawing my brain out. This? Call me Earthworm Jim cause I swung my head out on chapter 20. <<less

this novel truly leaves bad aftertaste. Like, it's

so

f*cking

Spoiler

The inconsistency of MC's personality really awes me; it's even worse than a teenager in puberty with mood-swing disorder. Imagine reading a full one-hundred chapters of spineless MC and you will understand my agony. At this point, I already have this habit of skimming four-fifth of the entire chapter just to get the main idea, all for the sake of reducing the mental damage I've received.

__

So, let's talk about the story (which started quite good but becoming nightmare later on) :

    • MC got summoned with friends
    • He was suspicious with the royalty
    • Skibidibapbap skip scenes he was scheming with the big shot to uncover the scheme
    • Big shot got killed lol
    • MC ran away
    • Dove into the dungeon
    • Killed big a$$ nig*a slime
    • Slime dropped a qt elf girl (bcoz magick happens, deal with it)
    • too boring so let's just skip it
    • Girl elf's family matters with tons of inconsistencies. Grab your aspirin before you read it, because it doesn't makes a friggin' sense
    • They decided to go to beastmen continent to repair his sword
    • Filler chapters happened
    • Elf girl got kidnapped
    • Epic gamer moment where he slaughtered the monster stampede (he fainted later tho')
    • Tried to save the elf after woke up (three days later)
    • In the process, found
another girl instead out of nowhere. Harem getto~! (What the frick author?!)
    • Blahblah fought with the enemy and he actually lost
but suddenly HERE COMES THE PLOT ARMOR!! EPIC POWER-UP!!
    • still lose from being spineless sh*t ROFLMAO~
    • BUT NOT SO FAST! OP CHARA APPEARED!!
      for no reason
    • At this point, I'm one micrometer close to drop this series

Now do you understand my pain?

[collapse]

I almost gave it one-star but for the sake of the translator (praise thee o' free translator), I'll give it three-stars instead

Good luck with reading it. Godspeed, fellow readers. <<less

Ok, so this is an arifureta rip off. MC is summoned to another world with classmates. Check. MC is betrayed (by the kingdom instead of friends). Check. MC goes to a dungeon to find an extremely beautiful girl who so happens to be an op magician (Amelia=Yue). Check. MC goes around fighting demons, and going on a massive power trip. Check. MC is even more pathetic than hajime as he needs to get saved by his shadow magic every other chapter while hajime had to train and go through hell... more>> to become OP. MC will do anything he can do get home exactly like a certain white-haired brutal protagonist with red eyes and huge harem. Check. There are many more points that im too lazy to get into, but you see where im going with this. ARIFURETA DEGRADED is a better title for this novel in my opinion. Im not saying this novel is bad, but its not original. But it is worth reading especially if you are a fan of arifureta or similar novels. This novel lost one star for lack of originality, another one for super thick plot armor and no progression, and third star lost due to small small small chapter that are basically one paragraph. I apologize for any grammar or spelling mistakes <<less

Yet another 'summoned to be a hero in another world with a twist' story

The Good:

  • The MC seems pretty sharp (though still cliche 'borderline amoral/selfish').
The BAD:

  • The prologue is pretty bad.
  • The pacing is pretty drag-ass
  • The 'villains' are conveniently overconfident (pathetic).
The DIFFERENT:

  • Nothing really.
Overall? Wait & see- nothing exceptional so far, but I'm not particularly encouraged yet.
Just as a side- note, there is a manga for this, and though only 2 chapters are out, it is paced differently (faster), and already beyond the prologue & 10 chapters of novel translated so far.

I call this arifureta downgrade version. Sorry if im compared this to other novel but I want to express my feeling. Here some reason :

Spoiler

- MC is not hero, while that one MC job is underwhelming, this MC job still fighter category

- Hero envies MC, and both MC only has one friend before isekai. In arifureta case the friend is girl, while in this world MC has gay friend

- Betrayed. While arifureta setting more cruel for it, in this world MC just framed kill commander which is not thar cruel.

- MC level up in dungeon and found first waifu inside. While arifureta forced to do so because survival, MC on this novel do because he want to do it. And yeah, both first heroine also god class magician!!
Its just endou go to isekai and got hajime plot armor
[collapse]
Story is about akira who has presence -1000 even before isekai got summoned to otherworld, just to used by the kingdom (probably as war power). Then MC with his presence got assasin job which undoubtly make him more powerful. And yeah, MC stats stronger than hero. Character, there's a lot cliche character as basic isekai character. However I just think author fail to introduce them better because on early arc stort just about MC lurking arround. Plot, somehow messed up tbh. The pace is weird, sometime fast, sometime dragged.. Author probably love give full detail about unnecessary things. World building? We dont have it yet, even its still vague about location. Overall you could enjoy this if you didnt think to much about this, as usual jp isekai like this. Also kudos to translator.

First off I'm obviously not the target audience of this story. It spends most of it's first arc in a dungeon and I really hate when stories do that. There's no character development because the MC is all by themselves or with just 1 other person and they do nothing but fight stuff all day. It's just description of monster, list of stats, kill it, repeat. It's really boring and you could skip most of it without missing anything of import.

Why did I read it then? Because in the beginning... more>> you really don't get the sense that it's a "story" about going through dungeons because reasons. It starts off with a class summoning and the MC knowing they're going to get betrayed because he's just that edgy.

The prologue foreshadows some political intrigue and the MC actually doing stuff, but so far that hasn't happened. It's mostly just dungeon crawling 70 chapters in. Even after they're done with the first dungeon, they're just going to the second dungeon to grind some more. I can't be bothered to read anymore because I'm convinced what happens in the prologue will take another 500 chapters of grinding to get through.

The characters are generic and needlessly edgy. The author can't seem to decide just how edgy they want the characters to be and writes some laughably bad lines about it.
Spoiler

Something like a crest on my arm was very chuunibyou and although none of my acquaintances will see it, I was unable to lay it bare as I walk down the street. So, my black clothes were always long-sleeved, no matter how hot it was.

[collapse]
One of the characters get betrayed but it's okay because the author decided to not go down the edge route or something? Or maybe they just wanted to make the betrayer another love interest. Either way, it's not very good.

But worse than being confused about how edgy they are, the MC is super dumb. Like, seriously. The prologue starts with them actually killing, and then they never kill another person again even though it's the obvious choice. In fact he never does the obvious thing he should do.
Spoiler

At one point he finds the princess with a bunch of mind control items she's using on the rest of the students. He destroys 1 of them and not the rest for some reason. Then he makes a speech how his edge so so sharp he could kill her, and just leaves instead. I'm sure you can imagine how that turned out. Because it's obvious. DESTROY THE OTHER MIND CONTROL ITEMS AT LEAST!!! He doesn't even warn all the students because he's a complete idiot.

[collapse]
It hurts reading from the perspective of someone as dumb as this MC.

The heroine is generic and completely forgettable. I honestly can't remember a single unique thing about her. She exists so that there's a heroine I guess.

Occasionally the story takes a break from all the... grinding, and moves to one of the other classmate's pov. That's slightly more entertaining but it doesn't happen enough and not enough actually happens when it does. The things they do also have some obvious repercussions, but the villains never take action for some reason? It's not very well thought out.

This novel is just overall bad and a waste of time. If you read the prologue and though it has promise, don't bother. Seriously, don't. There's so many better things you could read instead. <<less

When does it become interesting? There are many chapters that don't bring anything to the novel; little to no world-building, no character development, no revelation, no upgrades, just conversations, and no plot progression. MC becomes overly attached to Heroine, heroine is just as plain as she says MC is MC and he does MC things, its as boring romance as my ex. I am waiting to this novel get some progress...

Well... pacing is ridiculous. The human relationships in this novel feel eh pretty rushed. No- very rushed.

The pacing us also draggy as some would say but at the same time the chapters are short so thats pretty forgiveable for me.

It just irks me about how everything feels so shallow.

Anyhoo this is an ok read just to pass the time I guess.

The plot is interesting enough and the characters are engaging, but there’s a bit of a drop in quality when it comes to the writing itself. While it has sufficient clarity and brevity, emotion isn’t conveyed well and certain scenes feel flat. The other aspects of the novel make up for the writing enough to create an enjoyable read.

Too forced I guess. I tried reading the Manga to get a different feel but it is still the same, a tr*sh if I have to choose a word for it.

I've come to accept that Isekai genres will always be full of cliches no matter what type it would be. Be it World building or Adventuring I've come to accept its shortcomings. But this one really grinds my gear. I thought I was reading a BL too.

Well what can I say, this is extremely rough but you can definitely see what the author is going for. Cliches' for days and the handling of multiple POVs just serve to magnify the author's lack of skill. As usual it is for isekais, the ideas are good but the execution is lacking. However, I do enjoy it because the world building is amazingly decent and interesting. The writing looks like a summary rather than actual story writing. Its as if the author had a bunch of summarized notes and... more>> expanded on them a little. <<less

So I read until chapter 7 and for that reason I won't rate it.

I'm not sure if I will continue to read this one because the angst and edginess of the MC is so fvkin high. Its more edgy than kirito or even than Hajime of Arifureta. I don't know if the novel is really good or not but with a few chapters, I can already tell that the author of this novel is just a middle school in the middle of his chunni puberty when he started writing this.

The... more>> MC is self proclaimed clever, he likes to be isolated, he is dissing all his classmates, he have a job of assassin, and the most decent character is praising him and calling him mature unlikr his classmate who are just children pfft.

Well anyway, I can't take the cringe so I stopped at ch7 for the mean time. I mean I want to give it a chance I finished arifureta and it was enjoyable. I also tried othet edgy web novels so why not this. In the first place I tried reading this because of the manga. Even though the manga was edgy it's not as edgy as the web novel. <<less
