Yamagata Tatsumi and his family were traveling in their car when a wild truck smashed into their car. But wait! The MC wasn’t dead yet, his entire family was though. With his entire family dead and relatives abandoning him, the only one remaining by his side was his pet c*ckatiel. For a year he lived only with his pet, who had been with him since childhood. But finally, her lifespan reached its end and she died in his arms.

After his pet died, he lost his will to live and spent everyday meaninglessly. But since her death, every night he dreamed about a girl praying inside a room made of stone. 10 days passed and he reminiscences about the bird while playing with his acoustic guitar the song they used to sing together. Then suddenly the area around his bed began to shine, and the scenery around him changed.

He was still on his bed, but the room turned into the one from his dreams, and the girl was there. The girl was teary eyed and then jumped upon and embraced him. The girl, Holy Woman Calzedonia, smiled brightly and said “Finally… finally we meet again, master… I am your pet…. Chiiko!”

Man I had a pretty detailed review almost ready to post but then I accidentally navigated away from the page and lost it. I'm not going to rewrite all that so instead here's the tl;dr version:

The author found a unique way to get the main character into a relationship quickly. Instead of making a woman fall in love with him unrealistically quickly they've already known each other for ten years by the time the story starts. On the other hand the author only wants to portray the early stage of... more>> the relationship no matter how long they've been together in story time. A married couple who have been living together for a year don't make each other blush all the time and aren't going to be embarrassed about taking a bath together. Probably this author has never been married before and so can't portray married life very well. -1 star.

The other problem is the translation after chapter 81. Character names, monster names, city names, job titles, nouns in general are all over the place. This novel needs an editor to apply some consistency so the reader isn't guessing all the time. -1 star. <<less

This is one of my favorite WN that I read on here (never miss an update). First off, read this if you’re looking for a first and foremost series based on Romance. I add this a lot in my reviews because frankly after reading a ton of WN/LN nothing pisses me off more than the trope of an idiot that stumbles into a harem while not being able to actually understand what is going on.
Both main characters have a lot of fluffy time together, so if thats not what... more>> you’re looking for then skip. They also have a genuine adult relationship which is definitely great. All the side characters are memorable, have distinct traits/personalities, and serve a purpose.

On the fantasy elements the story is pretty original, aside for the Isekai portion the reasons, world building, way the devils possess their victims, and way the magic is learned and used in this is great. MC just started developing his powers and i’m half way through.. He’s definitely not one of those insta overpowered MC.

In summary I would give this a 4.7 out of 5. I really love this story, the translation is good now (there was an issue before not with quality but speed now we have both), and overall I think it’s pretty original. Give it a try! <<less

Emmm, it's gud that's all I will say, if you like sweet husband x wife story this is for you, there is no harem bullshit. Problem is that there seems to be only 1 chapter a month, which is frustrating... Pls speed it up a bit :D

I made it to chapter 20... there was a lot of hope.. there no more hope. Translator did fine it was the author who screwed up the story.. the author presented the story as a summoning to another world with an op wife very cute a little funny. Suddenly op wife is battling friends who have been possessed. Then everyone gets powerups. Finally MC gets injured. And op wife just stops being op and suddenly MC is op.

Basically MC turns into mini super sayen.

Gave it a try after several recommendations but it is certainly worth reading. I had expected it first to be something like Demon's Lord Pet (only the other way round) but I soon realized that this is indeed different. If you're looking for a light-hearted, cute romance story then this is for you.

It has a solid beginning, but fails to convincingly transition into the mid to late story. Also, the translator after chapter 81 is horrible.

The series is mainly a romance, and the two leads are pretty decent: the male gets Isekai'd to a fantasy world by a hot girl who's in love with him, but it works because he knew her past incarnation for over a decade and so it doesn't feel forced like some other novels. The love between them also isn't bad and I was convinced by their motivations... more>> to care for each other so strongly. However, the author is only really good at writing that early awkward teenage romance stage of their relationship and no part of their dynamic changes as the series progresses. The later bits were kind of annoying in how middle-schoolish their interactions feel even after they've been married for over a year. Like, they sleep with each other every night but they both break down due to embarrassment at the mere thought of taking a bath together? It just doesn't make much sense.

There's nothing wrong with them still being so close to each other, but the time line given doesn't feel like it matches up. I think the author just wrote time progression based on how long it would take the MC to learn magic and what not, and then just had the romance plot-line continue as if the time skips hadn't occurred.

My enthusiasm was already dipping and then the translator changed... along with almost every noun in the series, and I just lost interest in reading any more. Maybe I'll try to pick it up again later, maybe not. <<less

I really liked it for the most part. Heart warming and fluffy, some comedy but nothing too much. I don't know if there's much else to say about it really. That's about all there is... He's pretty OP, in his own way, and she's unbelievably devoted to him. The first few chapters s**ked due to many introductions, got a bit better after that.

If there's one thing I really hated, it was some of the minor friends who keeps slobbering and drooling over the MCs girlfriend and how everyone seems to... more>> want to get into her panties. Well, can easily ignore that though. But EVEN WORSE it's that this author is actually not that good at writing proper romance. It's kinda fine, sure enough. I get some heart warming, fluffy feelings and I want those two to stay together, but at certain parts I just want to strangle the author slowly. The absolute worst part in the entire novel was their first time having interc**rse. It broke all my immersion and I couldn't properly relate to the characters anymore the chapter after, I was so damn disappointed. It's like this, in that chapter it's mentioned how she could show everything to the MC and then they start kissing, french deep kisses, like mad, and we get to know how they're fighting each other at kissing. Then directly afterwards it was mentioned how they got more intimate after that event that happened in the chapter. I'm like "oh, that's fine, seems they started to get more intimate, maybe some minor fondling and deep kissing, sleeping naked together, you know, that stuff", because they had a relationship right before that where they only went for a peck on the cheek or lips, and the MC is really innocent. I never assumed that in the very next chapter, he's fondling her a bit and they're naked together in bed and it's mentioned how they've had interc**rse quite a few times since the time they deep kissed in the last chapter... So, the author COMPLETELY skipped the all important first time, no descriptions at all, and the follow ups too.. Then they all of a sudden are extremely intimate with each other, fondling and playing with each other like it's natural. A fcking 180 degree turn. A long, in depth hentai novel-like description is unnecessary, but we didn't even get the basic innuendo/vague description of their first time that can allow you to feel like "ah, they did it, I guess it was like this" while you get a fairly vivid image in your head about it. No, the author just jumped over all those things, not even mentioning properly that they did it their first time and then the next chapter they're the most intimate newlywed-like couple that teases each other and has had s*x at least several times. Fck,

it completely dropped me out of the loop, I feel so screwed over. Now they're pretty much splendid new characters that act way different than they did before, way more open, but we didn't get to see that important part in their relationship that made it happen.

I don't know, but that made me wonder if it was worth to keep reading. I did keep reading, but honestly I never got the feeling of deep immersion again. I am one of those guys who look at everything from the MCs perspective and put myself in his shoes. Especially that part with the first time was... Yeah... I mean, think of it like this. You have the worlds best girlfriend and you're getting married. But on the wedding night you get drunk like hell and take her special first time, only to not remember a thing the day after. Then you get drunk again in the same way all the other times you do it too, and don't remember a thing. You know you've done it and your relationship is now more intimate, even though you don't know why you feel like that, but you can't remember and you have a nagging feeling that something is wrong. Then you get an out of body spirit experience and watch yourself going at it with your wife, but it's clearly not you, it's someone else who possessed you. So now you know that all the times you've had s*x with your wife was actually just your body and someone else who possessed you, not you yourself. All the increased intimate feelings feels false and forced after realizing that and reality feels strange, just how did we get here? Well, something like that. I mean... maybe I'm silly to put so much weight on stuff like that, but for me it's an inseparable and extremely important part of a romantic relationship, especially the first time. It's a great novel otherwise, but the author makes ret*rded moves now and then like omitting very important parts of their relationship for convenience or something. I gave it a 4/5 because I really enjoyed Chiiko as a character and generally this novel made me feel good.

Ah, but do remember that, at least at the time of this review, the translation rate are too horrible for words. It was never that good, but now there was around 4 months without a single chapter, then we got 4 chapters with around 10 days between each of them. Now there hasn't been any updates for another 2-3 months again. I hope someone else can pick this up, because clearly the translator lost any will whatsoever to work on this and it's getting absolutely nowhere. Too bad. <<less

A very heart warming novel with a lot of sugar content that it is overflowing so much. If some of you guys wanted to take a break from reading too much action or too much nerve-wracking novels then read this to loosen some stress from those novel and it is a really good one with a quite good MC who is has a real spirit of a true man (because he doesn't want to be a gigolo so he is working hard) and a very cute and lovable Female Lead... more>> that will really make your day.

For those guys who says that it will turn into NTR well just search in google "My Pet is a holy maiden volume 4" picture and you will see that it will not turn into one. <<less

I was reluctant to read this since someone mentioned this heading toward NTR which I hate, but I'm glad I started reading it because the story is really sweet and heart warming.

Spoiler

There is absolutely no NTR, there is like 2 chapters where some people gets jealously/envious and tries to steal the girl but they get dealt with quite easily and the rest of the story is just sweet romance

The author's writing style is very repetitive. There are some earlier chapters where I felt the author just rewrote the story and added a tiny bit at the end. Also, unlike most Japanese web novels, this one is written in third person. It's feels jarring at first.

Its ok.. Not terrible. Not particularly interesting either. I guess this is to be expected for slice of life? There are times where the story feels like it might get interesting, but those problems are often resolved in the next chapter or two and it goes back to being dull for another 5 or six chapters.

On top of that the translator changed recently, and since then the names of characters keep changing back and forth, making it hard to figure out whether a new character has been introduced or who... more>> some new name even is. For example, the character Verse had his name changed to Bart, and then in the next line, is called Barse. Then it goes back and forth between Bart and Barse. The character Jolt is suddenly named Joruto, and then a few chapters later is back to being Jolt. There is also a sharp drop in translation quality. Some chapters have several sentences that are almost illegible as well as wrong pronoun usage (her where it should be him, she instead of he, etc..) that make it hard to comprehend what is being said. There are a lot of grammatical errors other than that, but most of those still get the meaning across so it's not a big deal.I think a lot of it is machine translation with slight editing, although I might be wrong and it could just be badly done translation instead. The chapters are also broken up into tiny segments with part 1, 2 or even 3, making it necessary to constantly load a new page often.

The MC also is your absolute run of the mill generic meek good guy protagonist who refuses to kill anyone but has incredible power, and the love interest is the generic beautiful female with big breasts that is completely infatuated with him. There isn't a single trait that makes them stand out from all the others out there in Japanese LNs, especially for the protagonist.

Spoiler

After convincing his wife that it will be ok if they return to the home village she was mocked and kicked out from, this absolute tool of an MC just stands around listening to a lengthy conversation between several men as they insult her and talk about enjoying her for the night between themselves. And when one of the guys attempts to attack him, all he does is use a judo move to toss him onto the ground, and then lets him go.

[collapse]

Overall its not terrible. I suppose there might be people out there who enjoy stuff like this given the high ratings. This deserves something like a 3.4 or 3.5/5 as the ratings on this site go in my opinion. Not so bad that I wouldn't read it, but definitely not good enough that I would pay money to purchase the LN if it was translated to English. <<less

I can only really talk about how things are going up to where I've read, but I've greatly enjoyed this so far. Having skimmed a few other reviews I suppose it's possible things go south later, but if so I'll have to come update this.

I really, really liked the first twenty or so chapters covering the MCs first entry into the new world and introducing his absolutely unique relationship with the FL. Having a pet c*ckatiel transmigrate is certainly a new one on me. There's a lot of ways this... more>> could have gone very badly if they leaned too much into this guy basically getting into a romantic relationship with his pet bird, but it gets handled really well and it's hard to see it as anything but two good-natured people with tragic pasts supporting and finding genuine love built on a foundation of caring and respect. It'd be entirely possible for the story to simply wrap up at this point and I wouldn't have batted an eye as there's enough resolution for everybody to call things good.

But of course it continues, and my next thought was the worry that the author would do the trope of taking these two people who have been shown to love each other so deeply that they'd die to protect one another, and then make drama out of having them somehow doubt these feelings and each other. My other worry was that now that they'd just agreed to be a couple, things would drag out in an endless "will they/won't they" loop. Thankfully, neither of these happen which is a quite pleasant surprise. It's sad how incredibly rare it is to find an MC that can logically use his brain to say, "I love this person, they love me, and we're both of age and getting married, so let's actually act like married people." <<less

Hmmm, I don't know... Almost I didn't start this novel because that "s*xual assault" thing, but lets be real... it's not someting so brutal to make you say "fuk it, dropped!" ... more>>
Spoiler

in the same battle, the first possesed body tears her upper clothes the second one continues the job and exposes her breasts, or almost, because she still has some sort of transparent clothing around her breasts. Also there is breasts gropping, but just that, no kisses, no touching inside panties, no licking nowhere... etc.

[collapse]

About her "nerf" in the fight...
Spoiler

she saw the boy she yearned for years cut before her, really bad... when she tried to heal him the demon took her, the fear she was felling in that moment made her not be able to think stright, not the fear because of the demon but because if she didn't healed him, he would die and she will "lose" him again... I think that was something really "real" who someone could do in that kind of situation and not some dumb "nerf" to her powers.

[collapse]

Now to what really pisses me off, the japanese mentality like someone already said... but that's something really common in this kind of thing... so... Well the MC is also only 16 yo... we can make that to be something related to his age, for us westerns who hate that kind of sh*t mentality. Let's say they are "Youth Mistakes".

Well all of this it only applies to the first 20 chapters, maybe in the future ones something worse will happen, dunno, might change something of this review by then, but I don't think because what I explained and "cleared" was events that already happened. <<less

It's interesting, honestly. I am not going to say it's good. For some reason I believe it's just following the same storyline where Female Lead gets harassed by bad guys who want her b**bies and our glorious MC saves her, after FML wants to thank MC, he blushes and another character to the rescue. This is a standard male power fantasy that reads a bit like a Chinese web novel in terms of the degree to which other characters exist primarily to express admiration of the MC.

There haven't been any real twists of interest thus far, though I can think of numerous ways that could have been accomplished.

The story lacks extended tension. Emotional conflicts -- to the extent there are any -- rarely last more than a chapter or two. But that's not really what the author is going for anyway, as this story... more>> is more of an iyashikei than anything else.

I think Risou no Homo Seikatsu is a bit similar, but that protagonist's relative lack of power makes for a more interesting -- if a bit dry/boring -- read.

The relative readability of the Ebisu English is consistent up to chapter 23, so reading the first chapter will give you a good idea about its quality. <<less

At first, I have some hope reading this but I decide to drop after chapter 2 when MC mentioned of summoning and light novel. It's illogical.

Recently when I last talked to a normal person, none of them even know about the trend in isekai genre of light novels. Whenever the topic of light novel pops up, they think of those thick as f#ck novels that only few wanted to touch. As for manga and anime, don't even mention it. They only know of usually titles like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece... more>> and few mainstream ones. Heck sometimes they don't even know what 'manga' means.

When I checked and read again, there's no sort of indication or mentioning of the MC being an Otaku or a person with that or similar sort of interest.

I'd like one to pick it up as it's very interesting of a novel. Romance is well like flowing hearts around the said couple, fights: yes plenty of it as he starts as a beginner and strives to become an exorcist so he can feel he can protect her as the freedom knight did when he was weak or even in a way that surpasses him... I myself enjoy this kind of romance, I won't say it's a fluffy one because I don't really feel it is like that but... more>> it is a good story though, up to this point at least. <<less

If you have a dark heart, prepare to have it corrupted by pink fluffy love. *Ahem*

I quite like this. I was looking for a novel with a focus on romance, and this did not disappoint me. The plot idea is probably the most heartwarming thing I've ever seen... I mean, really. His pet dies, is reincarnated and because she remembers her past life, she summons her owner to her world? My heart...

That said, if you're looking for action, look elsewhere. There is some (seems to be getting a bit more... more>> around the chapter I'm currently at), but mostly this is about the lovey-dovey couple.

Everything goes right for the protagonist here. He gets the girl, happy life and so on. No drama/tragedy, which is not something for everyone.
Spoiler

There's one part where an annoying love rival (hard to even call him that since his chance to achieve anything is in the negative) pops up wanting to steal the protag's girl. He gets thoroughly annihilated (figuratively) though.

I just have to say this; if you're getting bored with super action, cultivation and so on novels, I would truly suggest My Pet is a Holy Maiden. My main reason for that is because its very relaxed novel, it shows some touching moments, and its "fluffy". Got fun charachters, awesome charachters and an amazing grandpa guy. I do normally not read heart-warming novels, but I picked up this novel because I was getting bored with cultivation/action novels, and im rather happy that I picked up this novel as at... more>> during every chapter I had a warm feeling and I didnt get bored by it at all. the novel itself isnt perfect, far from it to be honest. It does jump in the story now and then, but the main reason I gave it 5 stars is because I havent read this type of novel before and I loved it while reading it non-stop. I will not give a rating of how the novel is or translation so on, but purely on how I felt while reading it. if you're looking for a warm novel, I would suggest this one as it got its moments, and you just have to love Chiiko, best charachter ever <<less

OMG this is so cute and fluffy. The first 1-10 chapters may be a little heavy every now and then because of the male protagonist's past, but it soon breaks through into pure fluff. Decent development, likeable characters, and a wonderful translator. If you're looking for an epic like Desolate Era then this isn't for you, but if you want a nice simple read about a cute, devoted couple and their mofu-mofu time then this is the one for you. XD
