My Fiance is in Love with My Little Sister

Aah, again?

My fiance was gazing intently at my charming younger sister.

When I saw the blaze that lit up in those cold eyes, I was assaulted by deja vu.

My fiance had been in love with my younger sister even in the last life.
There was nothing I could do but watch.

And, by some karma, I was someone who kept returning to that exact moment.

The novel is in a form that's a very difficult read. The translator has done a decent job but there's only so much you can do when the basic structure is very oblique without just rewriting the novel.

The other really big problem is the MC. She is just not believable. She's not so much a human being as a punching bag for those around her. After a certain point, Ch 14 you just stop feeling sorry for her and it becomes tedious.

Definitely a tragedy, sad but so good. You will cry. You will get mad. You will be unable to let this go. There's just something about the characters and story that tugs your heart string and hope that it ends in happiness... but there's always that lingering feeling that it might not end well because we're like Ilya... always reliving her lives with her (Side note, this was my breather from the fluffy love stories, revenge novel, although it was said, it was a great breather.)

The story is thought... more>> out, although there are a few things that were mentioned that haven't been explained and I'm not sure if it will ever be explained.
Spoiler

There's a chapter, somewhere in the beginning where her fiance's point of view is shown. Based on his view, his body moved on his own and all he could do was watch. Because of that, I can't really hate him. Like how do I know if it's him or this other power that is making him move? There's a lot of other unanswered questions...

[collapse]

Crow is such a life saver. Both him and Ilya have tragic story lines. Our girl Ilya's is more tragic in my opinion. Dying, only to restart her life again at the same point and always attempting to change the fates of people around her and her own, but only to end up repeating everything. It's not like she doesn't learn anything, she actually does but you have to keep in mind, this girl has mental issues and her family isn't really helping her.

Imagine this: you die a gruesome/lonely death each time to be reborn at the same point of time that you believe is when you witness the love blooming between your crush and the sister you cherish, all the while reliving in the household that gives all the love to the "sick" sister, parents who locks you in your bedroom that has barred windows for your own good when you clearly are suffering from depression and other mental issues. And her parents who obviously are POS because you can tell that the son-in-laws behavior between the two sisters is not normal since he's married to one and gives more attention to the one who's not his wife. And you can't forget about the mom and that letter. No matter how much Ilya makes her sister to look like a saint, I cannot bring myself to like her...I do not like her one bit. I WILL NEVER LIKE HER!! I don't like anyone from her family... sorry that last part of more of a rant. <<less

Edit:

okayyyy now I'm in the end of the third arc named "if this is the true ending" or whatever..... so... I guess I had to completely edit my review on this one.....

tbh.... as I read this novel it's just got worse..... and then at the third arc something the absurdities of the world is revealed...... the behavior of her fiance, her parents, and people around her.... were all subject to this "compelling force".... that's right folks... compelling force! it is not revealed as of yet what this compelling force... more>> is.... but it set the world to it's so called predestined course and it's people fixed roles....

Spoiler

our MC role here.... is not the villainess.... in fact it's a "supporting character" for the protagonist of the world.... her sister.... however.... because she didn't fullfill her duty as a supporting character and thus force to repeat her life over and over again until she did so... and to suffer punishment if she didn't fullfill her duty... various kind of punishment.... in the end... our MC finally able to break free from this so called world madness by fullfilling her duty as a supporting character and granted eternal rest in form of death (though I dunno how things will go I the next arc)

[collapse]

all in all.... this novel is a torture.... for the MC and any who read it.... and I sincerely hopes for a better end than the one already took place... well... I can only hope on the next arc for it.... <<less

A favorite and absolute recommendation from me! One of the best romance novel on the site, it crave and explore the character's depth of otherwise 2D characters. It centered about characters of a story that we have seen too many time slowly breaking out of their given role and saying "f*ck you" to the script.

Warning:lots of Angst, Heart Breaking, NTR, Betrayal coming for the cast and Lots of Pent-up Frustration, the NEED to punch a certain guy in the face-HARD and to punch the screen (in otherwords-RAGE), Sympathetic feelings for... more>> the readers. Not recommended for Bleeding Hearts (for you will have a lot more holes on your heart to bled from) and People with anger management issues (your monitor did nothing wrong, so does the wall and other stuff will be used to vent your frustration) . The best thing about the whole series in the MC undying love, it the only thing that make her pick herself up after every time been broken by a cruel fate. Read it and feel it, You won't regret it! <<less

Really really tragic story. It is really well written and very emotional. It's nicely translated too but there might be some inconsistencies in the translation as there seems to be two different groups translating it. Anyway, a must recommend for for anyone who likes reading tragedy. It's a twisted story which will leave you frustrated in the end because because you cannot do anything to remove the pain of the characters.

If you are expecting the MC to be all vengeful and take revenge this isn't the novel for you.

That said this is a masochistic angsty-train ride that I quite enjoyed.

MC's character growth is very slow and gradual so you may feel frustrated with her, but if you read thoroughly you know that the poor woman is really giving her all to change and achieve a better life for herself.

Spoiler

MC is in a very strict aristocratic society where she was basically sold in marriage at 5 years old, so throughout her childhood she had been conditioned to live only for her fiancee. She also falls in one-sided love with him because he was the only one who ever showed her kindness when they were kids. (Her parents are abhorrent and she has no support system.)

She tries to run away, but the fiance's family don't want their investment to get away and they eventually drag her back into the unfortunate marriage. Even if she manages to get away, the world is not kind to her and she is forced into prostitution.

[collapse]

The characters around MC are really frustrating, such as the fiancee and her sister. But we also find out they have their own unfortunate circumstances, although it is still unforgivable the grief they cause for MC.

Spoiler

The fiancee is despicable and nothing excuses his actions. We get a mini-arc from his POV, but it is basically an alternative version of him seeing in dream what happened in the other timelines. Once he falls in love he really starts to resent our MC and it clouds his judgement, so he often takes out his anger on the MC.

I do sympathize with the sister, since she was basically depressed and had no future to look forward to, as she was basically being poisoned so she can be locked up inside her home. Once she meets the sister's fiancee she falls in love and has some hope towards future, thus even if show knows it is wrong she continues to have an affair. Because without her sister's fiancee she has nothing to look forward to in life.

[collapse]

The real ML is a delight and his backstory is equally as tragic as the MC's. The conclusion to their relationship is something worth waiting for.

There are still some unanswered questions as to why the MC regresses, the updates are slow so wait for new chapters is long. But at this point of time it is at a satisfying end since the MC and ML are together and working towards living a life together. <<less

Do you wish to break your heart? Cry your heart out several nights? Or maybe have the kind of nature to cry like a little b****? Well... Here's the book for you. Despite the rough translations, it's... Readable, to some extent. As for the plot... Mwah! Chef's kiss.

It hurts. It's angsty. There's a lot left unsaid. Acceptance. And finally... A happy ending that leaves us somewhat troubled yet satisfied.

Spoiler

Ah... I am left with chills and tears while reading the If This Is The Real End arc of the book. I felt so bad for Ilya, having lived 4 lives, watching as her sister and fiance fall for one another, ignoring the fact that she watched, that she knew. She couldn't do anything. I am left with nothing but pity during this arc as she forces herself to say "I do not love you" Gosh... I am left broken. Who knew unrequited love would end up this bad??? She devoted her whole life (in her first life) to her fiance. Only to watch, at her wedding, as both her husband (by then) and sister fall for one another as she stood on the sidelines doing nothing.

[collapse]

Spoiler

By this point, I know that I really can't blame her fiance, Soleil. Since he can't remember shit. But nevertheless, he is shameless. Both him and Sylvia (or Silvia. I dunno, I read about two translations and it's spelled differently somehow???) harbor feelings for one another. I guess that kinda irks me. Like, man, if you don't want the elder sister, you might as well had broken it off from... I dunno. THE GODDAMN BEGINNING! At this point, all this is, is gonna be a vent post.

ENJOY THIS ETERNAL SUFFER!

This is great for those of you who are ready to cry. THIS IS GOOD NEWS FOR MASCHOCHISTS. LOL. I've read the latest chapter, and I know that FL is really helpless.
Spoiler

Everything that happened to her was because of someone's magic, whatever she did would not lead to happiness.

[collapse]
she dies and keeps going back to the beginning. This story traumatized me enough, because my hopes were crushed when FL died and came back to life. To the point that I don't care anymore if she doesn't have someone beside her, I just want her to die peacefully, to die for real.

I hate her sister, to me she looks like someone who is insensitive to other people's feelings. She justifies her feelings for her sister's husband on the grounds that she doesn't have much time to live.

the fiancé, he's tr*sh. And in fact he himself could not be separated from the 'role' given.
Spoiler

Even though he loves fl, he will continue to be with his sister fl. Because that's his 'role'.

[collapse]

above all, I hate 'god' in this story. I hate him for making FL suffer her whole life. I'm sad for fl. I really want to pull her into the real world and make her happy.

I still haven't finished the novel but if you're willing to cry at every freaking chapter cuz you're a big masochist then this novel's for you. I'm not saying this being a tear-jerker is a bad read but for those whose not emotionally and psychologically strong, I suggest you skip ??

Nevertheless, I give this full stars. Cuz tho I'm still in the middle, I wish for Ilya's happiness. I'll come back to read the next few chapters later on cuz I still need somethong to cheer me up so I... more>> can continue with the journey ? Ciao~ <<less

I cannot handle tragedies. Yet, I still felt compelled to read this story. I managed to not cry up until c24. That scene broke me and I could no longer stop the tears from spilling out. It's well written and strays away from several cliches.

I was expecting a rough ride, but I wasn't expecting it to be that rough. The MC is constantly thrust into horrible scenarios and everyone but a very select few people (even her biological mother and father) treat her void of any affection while piling unfair and unreasonable expectations on her, completely in contrast to how they treat her sister like she's the most precious thing in the world.

You might expect it to get better after a while, but it doesn't. Constantly repeating tragedy after tragedy.

Spoiler

One time the MC even tried to run away after resigning herself to the fact she could never have Soleil (her fiancé) 's love, but ends up getting caught by s*ave traders and sold to a brothel where she gets violated until she dies of sickness.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Only in her last life do things change a little, but it still feels like there are a lot of things that need to be explained and loose ends tied up. Unfortunately the author seems to have taken a hiatus just before finishing so we may never get those explanations.

[collapse]

All that being said, it still had me turning pages and kept me emtionally involved so I can't say it was an objectively bad novel, but if I'd known exactly what I was getting into then I probably wouldn't have read it. Tragedy isn't really my cup of tea, and this novel has a lot of it. If that's your thing then though it's definitely worth reading. <<less

The ML was such a jerkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

Gosh I am so happy she found her rest in death, with this time loop it would have made her insane. Thank you author, even if she did not get her happiness in her life at least she escaped these beasts, both ML and that "tiny little girl".

Wow I'm at a loss for words.

I tend to stay away from novels but I'm glad I read this one your translation is really good thank you for your effort.
So the story is really angsty but I can't stop reading. Well we're currently in quarantine so my sleep schedule is really messed up I started reading it yesterday and finished today. What can I say I dislike most of the characters but the are some moments when other characters will make you smile through this agony. The first 20 ch were a hard read for my heart and made me depressed but after being crushed we get to know more about the characters and I have some hope mayble just a little, for our main characters I hope their suffering will end. But nonetheless is a good read.

My eyes are swollen from crying too much. The story starts off a little slow, but it builds up well, and the later chapters are from a different POV that was confusing at first, but then makes sense. While the premise is somewhat cliche, the follow up is most certainly not what I expected, especially the routes our MC ends up on. The beginning got me interested, the mystery got me hooked, and the end made me so emotionally invested that I just can't stop crying.

If you've ever read a Fafoo book, you might find the nature of this story quite familiar in theme. Concepts like fate, being trapped in despair, and finding hope in that despair all come out beautifully here. If you're looking for a standard happy ending, you're not getting it. I don't even count that as a spoiler. This is the kind of story where a character has to endure every kind of hell imaginable to eventually reach self-actualization. Crafting a meaning or lack thereof to the suffering.

When you get to... more>> around ch 26, you might start getting the sense that the story isn't going anywhere, but I encourage you to push forward.

You might also find it slightly frustrating that the story is incredibly contrived. My response would be that that's literally the point. The story is about cruel fates and how you should face them. It comes across as juvenile and angsty (and it kind of is), but there is a lot of depth to Ilya. I might even go so far as to say she might be the best protagonist in any light novel ever.

Hard recommend this to anyone not turned off by depictions of cruelty.

PS. I'd also like to say that I hate how the title sounds like a generic LN title. But when I thought more about it, the title perfectly encapsulates the big through-line in the story from beginning to end. Respect for that. <<less

Just a little plug, if anyone wants a song to listen to while reading this novel, I highly recommend listening to Deja Vu by Dreamcatcher. The lyrics and tone of the song really matches the novel well.

This is probably the second Japanese novel (other than Light Beyond) whose writing just blows me away. This novel destroyed me with its words. I really felt like I was in the MC's shoes - all the pain, suffering, heartbreak and despair - I felt them.

At the same time, I truly feel sad... more>> for the author because for her to write a piece such as this, I think he/she must have experienced such tragedies in her life.

I had a lot of thoughts but same as my previous review, I'll remember this novel because of the feelings it gave me. Heartbreakingly beautiful. <<less

Honestly, I just gave up after a few chapters. Why does she keep loving her fiancée no matter how many times she dies? For real man, reincarnation after reincarnation, one after another, she is still in love with her fiancée. It gets really annoying after a while.

Edit: Didn't mean it like that, it just kinda doesn't make sense for her to still love him after so many time loops??

You need a certain resolution to read this novel because the heroine's poor me attitude would grate on your nerves if you are the type that's accustomed to bloodthirsty maniac in CN novels. It's just a matter of preference, as MC is staying true to her own belief eventhough us readers may not like her perspectives. I get quite tiring to read through her pity party when she never got the guts to disemboweled people who wronged her, but at least she's not out of character. So you just need... more>> to brace yourself. <<less
