When the Film Empress Jing Xiu’s wedding was in progress, Weibo was swept away by a local bombarding news — “The New Film Empress Ji Youyan Passed Away From Alcoholism”.

Soon after, another headline broke out——the wedding was cancelled for some reason.

Ji Youyan woke up from her sleep and was shocked to realize that she had returned three years before those events.

She returned in the second year after she broke up with Jing Xiu.

This time, she swore to never lose her.

In those times when we missed each other, we still loved each other.

The stars shine brightly on the clear sky. If I’m not by your side, time would be wasted in vain.

Dear fellow readers, do you all see that 'tragic past' and 'misunderstandings' tag up there? I can confirm with 110% confidence that they aren't there for show. I have been run over by the feels train multiple times and am now in recovery. After madly MTL-ing this for three days or so, I have come to the conclusion that this novel has one of the most in-depth and realistic portrayals of the struggles faced in a romantic relationship I've seen... and my heart hurts (but in a good way).

This novel... more>> begins with a broken relationship, loss of life and a second chance. Unlike many stories where the MC can magically fix their past problems, MFCW is slow-burning and delves into the many reasons why MC and FL didn't work out in the first life. Past regrets allow them to realize what truly matters to them. In spite of this, it is apparent that both parties also have personal issues to overcome. Internal and external factors play a role in leading them to their current situation but the love between the two runs so deep that this is able to be overcome.

The character growth and sacrifices of both MC and FL made me want to cry. Honestly, reading this felt like I had put my heart on a platter and sometimes, a knife would be prodding at it. There are twists and turns in the story which made me hold my breath.

If I had to nitpick at anything,
Spoiler

it would be the fact that the ending seemed a bit abrupt to me. I may have had higher expectations for the close off given the fact that the stigma of same-s*x marriage was highlighted strongly in this work - There was a lot of in-novel public/media scrutiny due to the fact that MC and FL are high-standing in the entertainment circle. In addition, although the foreshadowing was done very well, I found FL's behaviour in the beginning to be inconsistent with what I'd expect from her after her experience... but that might just be me hehe

All in all, this was one heck of a ride. It's a definite must read! <<less

Review during c19: Such a great novel! So far, the progress is slow but it feels right. The author plays with your feelings in every chapter. There's a lot of mixed emotion when I'm reading this that sometimes I want to cry for them.
Review after completing: it's been a while since I cried after finishing a book. I was really attached with the characters. I cried so many time because their emotions were so vivid that it felt so real. It felt like I was in a long journey with these two lovely girls. Demn. I miss them so much : ( ((

Spoiler

chapter 1-19 review: Their past is sad yet sweet. You can't help but hate Ji You's past mistake and at the same time root for her present hardwork to woe Ji Xue. The first few chapters showed the shortcomings of the MC and Ji Xue's unconditional love by using flas back of the MC and Ji Xue. It's interesting how the author made you feel like Ji You deserves Ji Xue's coldness when commonly, you want to make the FL jealous. At this point, I really wanted them to be friends or at least have a closure.

In the later chapters, Ji Xue's flashbacjks showed how lovely their relationship is. Ji You is actually so protective and sweet. Of course, Ji xue is sweet as usual (ugh I want a Ji Xue in my life). The scene made me so warm that I wonder how did their relationship ended up like that. Now, I can't help but root for them.

After reading for a while, the story made sure to let us know that they still love each other. Even after Ji You's death in the past life, Ji Xue still loved her ughhhh. I still don't know how they broke up but I know that it was mostly Ji you's fault.

See? The author really plays with your emotion and thoughts.

Spoiler

completed: I don't want to spoil much since it's a good story and I want you to enjoy it. All I can say is it's a happy ending. They cleared a lot of misunderstandings, and they became the better version of themselves after making up. The story is very slow-burn, but you just want to savor every moment of their interactions. I had a lot of questions, and I was very anxious before, but everything turns out great so don't worry :)) ENJOY READING

[collapse]

This novel has a great potential! It is very well-written. There's a lot of drama but the balance with flufyness is good. As expected of the translators, they know how to choose good novels.

I read this last month, and I still can’t get it out of my head. It’s well written and well thought out. After learning about the big twist, my mind was blown. I realized that there were hints all along. As for the relationship, you can really feel the love between the two protagonists. There are a lot of grievances between them though, which is why it’s slow burn. The past can’t just be forgotten, not when it’s so important to the both of them, and they also have their... more>> own hang ups. While Ji Youyan was the root of all their problems, Jing Xiu also contributed to them. It’s like the author wrote: Jing Xiu took Ji Youyan down this road (acting) and felt guilty for “dragging” her along, so when Ji Youyan stood still (because of her own insecurities and anxiety) while Jing Xiu continued to walk forward, Jing Xiu’s guilt kept her from confronting Ji Youyan head on. As a result, the grievances kept piling up until it was too late, and Jing Xiu became tired of being let down. She was the one who initiated their break up in their first life, and Ji Youyan went along with it, long thinking she wasn’t worthy of Jing Xiu anymore. They both regretted it in the end. In this new timeline, they work things out and talk about the problems that plagued them in the past, though it does take time. It’s not the slowest of burns (where it feels like things drag on), the progress is paced perfectly for them. Give this novel a read, it’s definitely worth it! <<less

This is literally one of the best rebirth novels I've ever read. From the beginning of the story where we're introduced to the characters and their situations to the gradual unfolding of what lead to the tragedy in the previous life to the resolution to them in this life, everything was written so well. I cried a few times reading because it was written in such a perfect way to be both enjoyable to read, yet arouse such sympathy for both the MC and FL's situations. The eventual re-blossoming of... more>> their romance was in turn, really sweet to read. The author did a really good job of having a realistic reason for their relationship to deteriorate and yet make the readers feel that them getting back together again is good. It was just a real pleasure to read from beginning to end even if not everything was sweet. <<less

I don't really write reviews but this novel just hits differently. For the first time in my life, I dropped my disapproval of yuri and was hooked. Such a heartfelt story truly tugs at your heartstrings and softens your hardened heart.

The emotions displayed are so lifelike that you couldn't help but sympathize with each character. The fact Jing Xiu loved her even after their breakup and her death, truly one of a kind.

This novel won Yuri Of The Year hosted by JJWXC, a deserving win. I will go back once... more>> in a while to reread this unforgettable masterpiece. <<less

Words cannot describe how much I love this novel. It touched my very core from start to finish.

Even though this is a turn back time story, the rebirth is surprisingly not delving too deep into past mistakes and regrets but gives Ji You Yan and Jing Xiu a chance to once again live in the present and to be more honest with themselves and their feelings. I would normally judge and hate the MC for dating others and harming her relationship, but this particular set up made it feel different.... more>> Her past mistakes were mentioned as flashbacks, and though they were just as annoyed and unfair to JX, I was somehow able to see JYY's struggles as well.

Each person has their own pride and stories; one was scared of being judged and abandoned; the other showed endless patient and respect waiting for her lover to confide in her one day. But love certainly doesn't work that way; it takes fate for two people to meet in a sea of people, and it requires mutual efforts to stay with each other. Ji You Yan at least realized this and made amend after her rebirth, and I strangely support her and Jing Xiu getting back together. Second chance is just some wishful thinking in real life.

Many of their dialogues were so sweet making my heart throbbed along with their reconciliation. It was certain that losing each other once truly made them appreciate and cherish this second chance to let their soulmate know what really matters... Neither career nor glory...I only want you!!!

A must read!! ten outta ten!!! <<less

The level of introspection, feeling and layers in this story are phenomenal. Rebirth stories typically follow a path of victim overturns the bully. This story throws the concept of victim and bully out the window and instead asks the question: if two people really love each other how could they make each other miserable? Most romances say they can't. Not if they really love each other. In reality, it's easier to harm someone you love than a stranger. People protect themselves. Lie to themselves. Do both those things to and for their partner. Often they lose sight of each other in the process. If miscommunication, disappointment and insecurity can destroy a relationship, can communication, faith and confidence resurrect it? Can giving too much and revealing too little be overcome by setting limits and revealing your wounds? This story presents a very smart and heartwarming answer to both those questions.

It's a very heavy concept and the way this author starts us at the rebuilding stage of their relationship and very very slowly peels back the layers of their past, future and flaws is amazingly well done.
Spoiler

The fact this theme is carried through all the relationships in this story without feeling forced is beautiful. Especially the different layers of parent child interaction. Its so well done it may be triggering for anyone who struggles to communicate with their elder family member.

[collapse]

I will caution that if you don't like entertainment settings, slow paces and can't wait to understand all character hesitation and motivations until every piece of the puzzle is revealed, you might get frustrated and drop this story. Don't. Its not too often you'll find a rebirth fantasy that is so well done. Their career realizations are as important to the story and theme as everything else. Even the moments that are predictable have hidden depths to reveal when they are finally laid out in all their detail. I strongly recommend this story. Period.

In case you are frustrated and want to quit cause you feel their relationship is imbalanced:

Spoiler

This is a double rebirth story. In their original relationship there was a power imbalance in that the FL was overly sacrificing and patient with the MC who continued to hide and use the FL's patience to protect her own pride. It left the FL isolated and alone emotionally for years. Our FL found a way to resurrect the MC and protect her with the expectation they wouldn't be together because the MC never really loved her.

All of the FL's hesitation, doubt and slow reforming of trust is based on having lived a life where the MC seemingly walked away without ever looking back. We and the MC know she's sincere but it's actually very reasonable that it takes the FL three fourths of the story to feel they've communicated enough to not repeat their mistakes and they still have to untangle the consequences of their resurrection in the last fourth of the story.

Damn what an amazing series right off the bat let me start off by saying I totally recommend this series to anyone that likes good romance, personal growth and relationship trust, our two leads Ji Youyan and Jing Xiu go through so damn much together to be able to get back the relationship they lost in their first life and it's just so satisfying seeing them be able to love each other again.

Go read it now both female leads are amazing and aside from a very hatable pair of side... more>> characters and most side characters being neglected this story is amazing, solid 9/10.

I absolutely loved both characters a ton and seeing them learn from their past mistakes and struggle to fix their relationship is an emotional rollercoaster cuz god damnit struggle they do, if you've read some of this going back in time/second chance stuff you know authors always only give them a couple silly and s*upid misunderstandings that are fixed with a good chat but here our MC Ji Youyan f*cked up so damn bad in her last life that while reading I didn't know if I really wanted Jing Xiu to forgive her.

Like god damn bro the stuff she does is f*cked (for you purists out there don't worry she never crossed that line) but still some of the stuff she does is just... like its understandable really Ji Youyan is a woman with low self-esteem, self-confidence, self-worth and self everything really but she has a lot of pride and wants to prove herself and she falls for Jing Xiu a blessed girl with a prestigious family, a mixed race super cold beauty who shows off amazing skills in everything she does and acting especially where she just keeps going higher and higher she's had an easy life and doesn't really know how to understand Youyans problems and keeps on giving in to her, when they met Youyan thought they were equal and would both support each other in their dreams but seeing Jing Xiu be the only one getting recognizition along with some other issues really broke her so she starts pushing Jing Xiu away and it's just....

Spoiler

but like damn the stuff she does is so heinous... Like Jing Xiu is rich and has a lot of contacts so after they get into the entertainment circle for real she tries to help MC out, MC is too proud and wants to prove herself so she doesn't take Jing Xiu's help and goes to a shitty company and this really is the worst mistake of her life.

She gets a very shitty manager that only looks at the short picture and quick gains so she convinces MC to start hyping herself up with male stars to attract traffic to herself, she goes out to dates with them while filming, gets caught with them, is overly touchy with them and just like c'mon bro, she starts going down this hole of needing to be famous and pushed Jing Xiu away, she starts lying to Jing Xiu, missing dates, anniversaries, birthdays, starts asking her to not see her to not cause misunderstandings she's getting help from her or that they have a relationship (indeed while doing all that with male actors) and it's just pretty despicable.

Jing Xiu asks her to star in a lesbian movie with her that will help push a lesbian movement at the time and of course MC refuses cuz it would hurt her image, she refused to help that movement too in any other way cuz being associated with it would hurt her fame (which I can understand a bit but come the f*ck on), refuses to talk about her past, what she's doing, her plans, and like how the f*ck can you trust someone like this? and then the worst of all, Jing Xiu has a terrible accident where she breaks her arm, a couple ribs, has fractures all over her body and will never be able to perform in action films again (her favorites) and well you know all the problems her body will have.... And MC was too busy filming to go accompany her in the hospital and coincidentally wasn't able to get there till the press and paparazzi left (Yeah just coincidentally hu)...... Bruh Jing Xiu's love is f*cking endless and irrational cuz I'd never be able to forgive that, like I'd really want to especially seeing how hard Youyan tries and how much she hates herself cuz she realizes her mistakes of chasing ethereal fame over a real human relationship, a person that truly loved her, she realizes she f*cked up bad, well tbh I really forgave her by the end, her redemption is really believable and later on you really understand why it all happened, I guess I just have never loved someone so much to give them a chance from doing such f*cked stuff, but well I'd really forgive Youyan

[collapse]

Seeing them be able to connect again is amazing, Jing Xiu too had some things she failed to communicate well and she also grows a lot but Youyan being able to truly love herself is what we really get to see throughout the story and being able to give a sense of security and love she completely f*cked up in her first life towards Jing Xiu and mannnn it's so damn sweet seeing them accept each other and Jing Xiu being hopeful but scared to accept MC, and it's really f*cking understandable why she's so scared lol but by the end you feel so much for Youyan and well I really forgave and understood her f*ck ups.

Both women grow a lot and are able to accept themselves and each other, Youyan can let go of her pride and accept Jing Xiu's kindness and Jing Xiu learns to see things from Youyan's perspective.

But MC seeing the mistakes of her past life is really enlightened and knows exactly what really matters, it's an absolute joy watching her pamper Jing Xiu and learn to pamper herself too.

Author does a great job making every chapter an intense emotional rollercoaster that really focuses on both women's emotional states, you really feel along with both of them in every situation of happiness and sadness.

But alas the author went and f*cked it all up super bad, like real bad, this was a 10/10 story for me until for whatever reason author went full ret*rd with one of the two things I despise the most in Chinese stories, ret*rded and undeserved filial piety.

Halfway through the series MCs parents show up and theyre some of the most disgusting and hatable characters I've seen in a while, mostly cuz of how badly author handled them like bro the stuff they did is so god damn f*cked.

Spoiler

all right so these f*ckers are the reason MC has such low self-esteem, self-confidence and such, they're a conservative and pretentious old Chinese couple that are both teachers and care about face and such a lot.

They planned all of MCs life and have had her in a short leash all her life wanting her to follow a woman's path and marry a man they've of course chosen for her, so MC has always been scared to step out of line but when they're gonna force her into marriage she finally stands up for herself and refuses, she's always had a dream of being a musician and asks her parents to support her, so they throw her out of the house saying she's a f*cking failure, this leads to a lot of problems, MC has never grown a spine and the primary reason her first shitty manager f*cked her up so bad is cuz she just can't stand up to people.

So they do that and later MC tries to find her mom after she's become a bit famous and feels will get their respect now as a person, but there were some rumours at the time she was a lesbian with Jing Xiu and mom asks her to clear it up, MC says they're true wanting to be honest with her mom, so mom calls her a disgusting embarrassment to the family and that she's ashamed to have such a daughter, yeah commendable parenting, later on they also even make Jing Xiu a confident person start questioning herself by being just the most pretentious and hatable sacks of shit, I really wanted to beat the sh*t out of them both to teach them to think before they speak garbage

[collapse]

Like really they're just horrible and you know what the worst part is? Here's where the undeserved and ret*rded filial piety comes in, they f*cked up super bad but for some unknown f*cking reason when MC learns about them again dad had an accident and MC just loses her mind blaming herself saying she's an unfilial daughter and how she's a horrible person when it's not f*cking true at all, worst of all the parents are the worst type of scum, self-righteous scum that refuse to accept their mistakes, say they're right and start f*cking blaming MC and wanting her to marry a man AGAIN and refusing her way of life while again blaming her calling her names and its just disgusting all around.....

Now I know this most likely is the response of a real conservative old Chinese couple and it does line up with their values and both theirs and Mc's responses are believable but...

Why? Why did we need this? Why is this here? We're already knees deep in heavy drama wit MC and FL getting back together so did we really need this?

This type of bullsh*t can only work with people that still live with their parents and have to follow what they say but I really wanted MC to grow here and accept that maybe her parents are just sh*t and dont deserve her love but of course not.... they're still coercing her and acting so self important after what they did? I despised them bro every chapter with them was a miserable one and sure later on author tries to redeem them but it was too sloppy and too late, it f*cking ruined the series for me.

I really abhor this notion that just cuz they're parents they're entitled to the kids love, respect and care, no those things should all be earned.

Welp aside from that another problem is that the side characters feel kinda empty and superfluous at times which is a real shame cuz at the start the author set up a lot of characters that seemed real interesting but never went anywhere and they all disappeared sadly... There's 2 particular couples I really wanted to see a lot more off, Jing Xiu's cousin with her little actress lover and Jing Xiu's and MCs assistants, but sadly they're forgotten.

4-5 plotlines are also sadly forgotten and they were all pretty interesting and important to the plot but f*ck em I guess.

Lastly for problems this is a very personal one but well you know this is another entertainment circle Yuri, wtf is up with chinese Yuri's always being set up in this sort of setting? Its the isekai equivalent lol, I'm really growing tired of it, but well if I'm being honest it's actually handled well here and implemented correctly into the story it's just that this type of stuff is really getting to me, but really this story was built around them both being actresses and its woven in perfectly into the story, this and "She is The Protagonist" are the only stories where I've really liked this sort of stuff but I still got some irrational hatred towards it lol, very weird considering I've never grown tired of Isekai.

There's a supernatural element here too which I was really worried about cuz usually they tend to be explained really poorly and ruin the flow of the series but here it was actually handled quite well and it's an important aspect to the series that really elevates it into a more interesting tale.

I also must point out what an amazing ending this series has, if you've read Chinese stories for a while you know how half-assed their endings are but not here good sirs and madams not at all, theres a particular scene that's just so damn cathartic
Spoiler

MC proposing to FL with a song? My god bro it got me right in the kokoro haha, it was too damn sweet and it hit just right and it was an earned moment with how MC' singing has been used through the story and how much it means to Jing Xiu

[collapse]
and well the whole final chapters are just great and I always really cant help but deeply love an author that puts love and care to their endings and doesn't half ass it, much respect author, respect respect.

Also by the end theres this particular thing that's revealed where youre just like "no way" and want to go back to see if you can see hints, I can usually smell such reveals from a mile away but here it really got my by surprise in a good way and it is actually foreshadowed, its just hidden well so it just makes the "ohhhh isee it now" more satisfying lol.

Well this went on for way too long but what can I say I loved this series and had a lot to say, the ending doesn't feel rushed and ends in a very satisfying and happy way and there's a supernatural detail there that leaves you feeling very happy for their future, definitely give it a read.

Now then author has 2 other stories so you know my smart ass is definitely gonna read em, "Stuned For You" and "For The Rest of Our Life" see you there guys lol. <<less

I really liked how the author wrote the various changes with their relationship with the multiple POV, it allows me to dive deeper and understand both characters' thoughts and actions rather than just putting minor details. It shows that it would take a lot of time and efforts to fix a relationship, but it's worth it when you finally see them getting together and started spraying dog food everywhere (even from my screen). :)

Main Character: Ji Youyan

She was raised in a typical traditional family, where both of her parents... more>> are university lecturers. Since young, she has to learn how to play the piano, make-up, speaking french, etc. Her parents wanted her to live her life according to their well-planned route - to become a well mannered young lady who will marry a man of equal status.

She didn't believe in love. After her music friend's death who lamented it is a pity (her choice to marry and be a puppet for her whole life) since she was extremely gifted in music. From the funeral, she received a guitar as a parting gift.

That night, she reflected and she felt tired of acting as the perfect daughter in their eyes. She feared she would lose her sense of identity and confesses wanting to live her life the way she wanted before the engagement was finalized... She was kicked out of the family and was only 20 when she left home to pursue her dreams in the music industry.

She has lost any form of communications with them...

She became even more distraught over her constant comparison with her against her family treatment and poverty, she refused to show her lover the unsightly sides of her, fearing she will leave her one day. Able to accept others' help but not hers, the number of things she hid from her grew yet she well aware that her avoidance is hurting her but just ignored it. She was forced to give up on her dream, her self-confidence became smaller, her heart began to drift further as the years went by.

2 years ago. She received a call that she was severely injured from filming action scenes. She didn't manage to arrive on time due to financial problems. She didn't want to let her know that she's running out of money. When she finally visited her in the hospital and see her body covered with wounds, she immediately accepted the breakup, leaving without a word.

Original Plotline

3 years later. She constantly buried herself in work and drown her sorrows in alcohol. When she heard that she's getting married, she died due to excessive drinking. Her parents didn't show up for her funeral while she was there crying over her coffin...

She was afraid of letting her see her ugly sides that she wouldn't love her like before. As her self confidence became smaller, she acted more prideful in front of her, unwilling to let her or anyone else thinks that she doesn't match her.

Female Lead: Jing Xiu

She fell in love with her self-confidence, her music, her everything, yet when she gave up on music, she also began to shut her out. She refused her help, always looking at her with very little pride she has left. She let down her pride to approach her but all was for nought, her expectations are always turned into disappointment. Her heart seems to be like the kite, flying higher and further from her grasp. She minded exposing her relationship with her to the public but didn't mind getting into rumours with other male actors. She began to have lesser interactions with her, she's always the one who stayed up late waiting for her to return or respond to her during the lonely nights.

2 years ago, she was severely injured from her work and was sent to the hospital. She endured the pain to call the person she wanted to meet the most but all she got was one sentence. She didn't appear right away. Her heart that was already tired from years of waiting has finally given up on her. She didn't trust that she loves her anymore. She initiated the breakup but was heartbroken to see how she has accepted so calmly as if she was waiting for her to say that.

When she met her again, her heart was cold towards her...
She always did not open up to her, she was always in the dark.
Her silence weathered down her acceptance and trust.
She couldn't have the confidence to believe that she loves her and trust her anymore.
When she found out about the fiance thing, she felt as if she has not walked into her heart, she didn't see her letting down her defences, she wasn't really accepted her before.
She has her pride as arrogance. She gathered her courage to approach her and always needed a much longer time for them to comfort herself after every rejection from her.

This is one of the best yuri novel I ever read.

I fell in love this novel, that once I done reading Mtl I started read again.

Except rebirth part, this story is so realistic, the relationship problems and protagonist's struggles are well described, you can feel their emotions, pain and love. Such a lovely story that I can't get over it.

I think people who have once experienced love will understand their feeling (and struggles). Although this is novel so it's HE, but unfortunately in reality not all people who fell... more>> in love can find their solutions while struggling and eventually falling apart.

Well for me this novel gives melancholy vibe.

ohhh. Also I love music 🎵 and I'm so happy that while reading this masterpiece I found new gem . (Weekend a Rome) MC is going to Sing this for FL. It was fun reading while listening this song, made it more realistic.

you should check it too on youtube. <<less

people are saying that fML truly loved the MC and MC is at fault for their break up in 1st life. I really don't agree MC is also very pitiful, though I have not fallen in love yet but is it wrong that MC want to save her little pride and does not want her lover to find her bad sides? It's not like she can go and cry in fML legs. A relationship should be between equals and MC constantly worries that if fML would leave her after finding... more>> about her condition, which is a realistic worry and is not a matter of trust{my opinion, }

all in all

MC is equally pitiful, conclusion- I know I am contradicting myself but MC is at fault but not that much and breakup can be said to happen due to miscommunication <<less

I've read up to c18, and I'm absolutely loving it so far. Although I'd love nothing more than to finish the rest of the story right now, I feel like mtl ruins a lot of the beauty in the original's writing, so I'll wait and cheer the translators on instead \\٩ ('ω') و ////

Edit: Ok, I lied. In the end, I couldn't wait for the translations and just MTLed it instead. A lot my brain cells were certainly sacrificed, but the surviving ones became veterans and managed to pull... more>> through. Overall, I loved this novel. The misunderstandings weren't annoying, and their interactions and care for each other are very sweet. Story-wise I'd give this a 9/10, -3 in tribute to all the casualties along the way, so overall it's 6/10 for me. Enjoyable read :) <<less

It's a good novel. I just didn't feel comfortable at first. Maybe it was a necessary start, but...

MC a little seems to be depressed and has low self-esteem, so I honestly felt bad seeing her stoop and fluctuate with her mood swings because of her relationship.

Yes, MC got it wrong and did a lot of things that justify FL being hesitant to approach her again, but I think the way she treats her at first... well... huh.

Yes, I know the character should have a "tsundere" personality, and I know... more>> she's all sweet for MC and always protected her in the dark, and she was mostly just evading MC's approach, but.... words have power, especially if everything you say has a lot of influence on someone else.

"She hurt you, so make her run after you and feel what you felt back then. Don't let it be easy" (someone said something like that)

It's terrible advice. There's nothing cute or romantic about wearing yourself out emotionally to chase someone. A transparent conversation and sincerity during the course would have avoided a lot of suffering.

Spoiler

I was happy when FL ignored her cousin (?) and ended up coming home for her birthday and didn't leave MC in the dark with her surprise "party".

[collapse]

They start to really talk about their feelings and the past, rather than continuing down the path of self-punishment, and things get better in my view. But I decided to leave reading along the way.

I stopped reading because MC looks more like a puppy running after its owner. The slow pace of the novel isn't the problem. I just don't think it's an equals relationship. Even halfway through the novel it's MC who is always wrong and keeps apologizing. It seems like FL never makes mistakes or has a wrong opinion, everything she says to MC is right and she takes it as law. FL even admits that he also made mistakes that also influenced the failure of their previous relationship, but as far as I've read, that's all.

Not everyone can rise in life by being 100% honorable. If you have a mountain to climb, no matter what the means, just climb it. Within limits, I don't hate people like that. I find MC interesting, and would have liked to see her run outside her FL orbit, even a little bit. Maybe come back to reading another day and finish it. <<less

First of all, I just want to say that the current translator is doing an amazing job translating this novel and that I appreciate all of the translator notes they leave to make certain nuances more clear. Their translation and how great the story is from the beginning got me immediately hooked, so much so that I ended up mtling the rest of the novel. Whoops LOL

So I spent the past couple of days reading the mtl'ed version of the novel and even though it was mtl'ed, the story and... more>> plot was still so beautiful and well-written. The development of both Ji Youyan and Jing Xiu's characters as well as their relationship was done so well and the pacing of it was amazing. I generally don't like slowburn too much because I feel like they tend to drag on and on and while this story is most definitely a slowburn, the pacing of the development of their relationship felt necessary. The plot itself was so well written and after the revelation that happens later on in the novel,

Spoiler

that Jing Xiu also went back in time after finding out about Ji Youyan's death

[collapse]

I saw a lot of the earlier scenes in the novel in a different light. It actually gave me chills how well thought out and planned the plot was.

All in all, this novel was beautiful, their relationship was beautiful, and I will probably spend the next month or so rereading this. <<less

OMG the things Ji Youyan does to pursue her wifey!!!! It's soooo cute

Spoiler

Starting with giving the panda bracelet that she never got a chance to give to Jing Xiu from her last life. Then making her a birthday cake for Jing Xiu's bday, cuddling up to her to help relieve her bad menstrual cramps, the list goes on and on!!! But Jing Xiu's frozen heart starts to thaw with Ji Youyan's persistance

[collapse]

This novel focuses a lot on character development and what it takes for a relationship to work. You grow with the characters and you can't help but root for Ji Youyan to get her wifey back 😍

MTL the raws if you cannot wait for the translations, you can still get the gist of each chapter <<less

Words are not enough to describe how much I love this story! If you read this whole story you will know that this is so beautifully written and Jing Xiu should be awarded with the best lover of all time while Ji Youyan get a luckiest girl in the world to have a Jing xiu in her life! QAQ

Their love story really transcend time and it never dwindle even though they spend years apart. Even though the story take place after their breakup, all their actions, words and expression drescribe... more>> by the author beautifully express how much they still love each other. Yanyan way of courting Jing xiu is so sweet and Xiu's response is so cute. Even though it took time to heal their wound their journey to get back together will keep you reading it to the end.

The twist and turn of this story is so interesting you will find it hard to put it down. It was that amazing! I have read a lot of romance story and nothing come close to this. A must read indeed :) <<less

I'm not much of a novel reader but I found the story from the manhua and got interested. I even finished reading it (on other site and still waiting for more better translation in here). I love how it was written even though I am not a fan of fantasy but it fits perfectly here. The way they unravel their relationship is so vivid that I could see it playing in my head, especially when they confronted their traumas and shortcomings. It's slow paced but I'm not complaining because it's... more>> nice to ride along through their journey. It's not bad to believe in love and second chances. <<less

First yuri I ever read.

Got me hooked even with my aversion against yaoi and yuri genres.

I love the story, the emotional roller coaster ride, and the character development of our couple.

I just felt the main lead too dumb in the beginning, she's too attached with the things in the past and blindly mixed her current feeling with past life feeling, but slowly she's became more rational, then pursue her ex girlfriend in the right way, if your mood doesn't right it would be little annoying in the early part, but it getting better and better
