This is actually a quite heartwarming and fluffy read with a bunch of supernatural elements inserted along the way.

The plot gets a bit confusing when it comes to the paranormal stuff, but all the questions get resolved as the plot progresses. The pacing is just right. There are a few minor plot holes that I decided to overlook because I enjoyed the story overall.

The daughter the title is referring to is the MC, Xu Yun Yao, whose father is her past life's sworn enemy---the prime minister, Tang Song Nian. In... more>> her past life, she was a palace maid who schemed her way into becoming a favored consort, and was so close to being sealed empress but was obstructed by the prime minister. She dies and travels back in time, reborn as TSN's infant daughter when he was still a small official in another province.

Initially, after her rebirth, MC was resentful towards TSN and it took her a while to accept her new fate. However, over the years, she grew to love her family. It's a process with several layers, and her initial hostility didn't turn into love overnight. The interactions between family members are quite funny, especially in her earlier years.

Spoiler

She was an orphan in her past life and was completely alone, forcing her to be independent and mature early. After her rebirth, her parents doted on her completely and her whole family loved her.

Early on, when she still hated TSN for screwing her over in her past life, she wanted to make his life miserable. But there was only so much an infant could do. Her antics were quite hilarious.

- Whenever she felt that her father wanted to get sexy with her mother, she'd bawl her eyes out until they'd be too tired to do anything after putting her to sleep.

- When she 'just learned' how to speak, knowing that her father doted on her, she refused to call him 'father' despite his persistent coaxing. She had already adressed everyone else properly, but towards him, he was only addressed as 'old man'. She eventually had to give in though.

[collapse]

MC's personality is really refreshing. She's lively, cunning, and a bit petty, which can get pretty hilarious. She's also decisive and a bit willful, but she knows her limits. She refuses to suffer any losses and bites back when she gets bullied.

As for the ML:

Spoiler

She doesn't end up with the previous life's emperor, the fifth prince. In her past life, when she was still a palace maid, she was framed during a banquet, but a young general saved her life. She developed a crush on him ever since, and he became her "white moonlight." After her rebirth, she encounters ML in her childhood, and he ends up living with her family for a while due to some circumstances.

Her initial goal was to become empress and curry favor with the fifth prince (future emperor) with her new identity, but after living life so comfortably with her family, she decided that she was tired of the messy harem with all the scheming. So instead of going for the fifth prince, she decided to wholeheartedly pursue her "white moonlight."

I don't think you can call fifth prince the second ML either. He initially had weird feelings for her and even proposed to marry her, but he admitted later on that he only wanted to marry someone he was familiar with instead of some stranger, and he only treated her as a sister.

[collapse]

ML is quite likeable. Not at all overbearing, but really considerate and caring towards his loved ones. His life is pretty tragic so you just want him to be happy. He respects and cares for MC a lot.

The side characters are also really interesting. MC's whole family is adorable. Her parents love and support her completely, and her relationship with her brothers is what you would expect from a typical sibling relationship---always messing with each other but have each other's backs when sh*t gets down. Even some of her annoying cousins have character development.

Spoiler

She also has a stellar best friend, the fifth princess. She's absolutely hilarious. She's spoiled and willful, but not obnoxious and knows her limits, and is actually quite clever. The emperor, empress, and her fifth brother favor her, so, with such strong backing, she absolutely doesn't give a sh*t about what others say. She can choke people with her words. I just love her friendship with the MC.

[collapse]

Although the villains didn't really stand out that much for me, I still enjoyed the story.

Giving this 5 stars mainly because I really liked the main and side characters. <<less

This story is a hidden gem!

I love how the story flow seamlessly without excessive villain and face-slapping.

I like how the MC grow to love her family, letting go all of her grudge and choose to live peacefully.

Spoiler

The ML is not her dad, it's her white moonlight general.

[collapse]

The ending tied up nicely and it brought tears to my eyes T-T

MTL is pretty readable. All in all a very good read...

This novel was so good to make me laugh and cry.

The story about the the most favored imperial concubine rebirth as her enemy's daughter. Her enemy was a smart prime minister who always confronted her at every turn in her last life.

When she rebirth as a baby daughter of her enemy, she was trying to avenge her grudges, but because of her soul in a small baby's body, she can only annoyed her father, which is hillariuos in their interaction.

At first, her goal to become an empress to continue her... more>> previous life's goal. She thought that she could write more flattering words for her moonlight general. She had a crush with the young general who save her life when she was just a low palace maid.

While our MC Bao Ya slowly growing up in Tang's family as their most beloved daughter, full of love and pampering, she gradually realize that she want to have her own happy life. When she realized what she wanted, she pursued the moonlight general bravely.

I like her character, she was bold, shameless but not annoying, cute and lovely.

I like her friendship with Awu, her ghost friend and the 5th Princess.

The side characters were not only two dimensional, they were not plainly evil like others novel.

I loved to read how loving and warm family that Bao Ya has in her second chance. Her interaction with her own brother and cousins. They also have a few family disputes but mostly towards her big uncle's family.

I highly recommended this novel, it was a beautiful reading journey. <<less

The story so far is fun and interesting. Characters are intelligent, the conflict so far comes from different interests and character traits, not anybody being a canon fodder who only exists as a stepping stone to main characters. Family relationships and political setting don't appear simple, but it is too early to really tell.

The baby empress is spiteful but hilarious, the kids around her act like kids.

A charming, romantic story filled w/ familial love & satisfaction.

The main character deserves her happiness in her second life.

Hiliarious father, brother, and main character (daughter) relationship. Basically, old fox, fox's son and daughter.

A few drama points, no antsy plots, & lovely side characters.

A somewhat satisfying read.

Writing Quality 5 stars - no complaints. I did not understand everything as I read the Mtl but that does not take away from the captivating story it tells. A more show then tell writing style. No redundant explanations or superfluous descriptions (eg. Describing the yard, how beautiful her skirt is.. Ok maybe a bit but it is not overplayed and they describe it from the perspective of the characters so that we may understand their feelings)

Story Development ... more>> 5 stars - Never bored. Plot twists but also wholesome slow scenes. Not many unnecessary entanglements, no plot holes that I can think of. Dog-blood drama, tragic moments, happy wholesome ones. The ending is very satisfactory and ends in a cycle.

Character Design 5 stars - all characters have a unique personality - they are their own person, they each have their own purpose, even the cannon fodder have their own lives and background. No unexplained worship or praise of MCs. No such thing as plot armor (so 10/10 for that) I have come to love each and everyone of the (main) characters, and also have understanding for the opposing characters. Even sympathy. But considering the time and place the treatment of the enemies is really in line (so a point for the world building)

World Background 5 stars - Everything is mostly based in one country and rarely anything is mentioned about the outside, except during the latter parts of the book. The world is built in an inconspicuous manner, shown throughout the book rather than an explanation of the current affairs and when the author does intend to give this info to the reader it is done in a smooth subtle way that does not interrupt the flow of the plot <<less

Extremely hostile reading environment: chapter links are broken on NU, on the translator's website, and on Google. You'll have to hunt through the disorganized category lists on two separate sites, because the translator does not provide next/previous chapter links, and the site's native post links can't be relied on when the translator doesn't upload chapters in order.

Native English speakers will also find aspects to criticize in the translation itself; expect typos, awkward sentence construction, and gorgeous turns of phrase like "her crisp, soft, and waxy laughter."

Setting all that aside, this... more>> novel doesn't exactly stand out in the genre, but it's an enjoyable enough read. So far, the main focus has been on fluffy, comedic family scenes between the childish empress and her family, with more serious side plots about her dad's family troubles and career. <<less

EDIT: This is a really cute story, but the translation website is a bit difficult to navigate (and first few chapters are entirely inaccessible). I’m holding off reading this until hopefully those issues get resolved.

I’m a sucker for the united family trope, and the way Little Treasure grows up loved and cared for by her greatest enemy was a twist that works. The characters are a little generic from what I’ve read so far but I’m not even mad about it because the interactions and storyline are interesting enough.

I rarely review any novels. But this is one of the few times I don't want people to skip on this amazing novel.

It is so heartwarming, full of fluff, characters are written with depth. Some situations occuring between the MC, brother and father almost made me laugh ugly many times.

The two favourite characters in this novel for me would definitely be MC and her brother. MC is sneaky, ferocious, bold and most of all, cute. Her brother's actions are the most funniest for me in this novel. Their interactions are... more>> hilariously cute.

This novel is so carefree and full of warmth, it's like a breathe of fresh air and totally unique from those dog blood dramas.

Face slapping : 10%

Fluffiness : 100%

Humorous : 80%

MC running away from her father hugs : 1000%

I'm so excited to look forward for future chapters🙆 <<less

I cried like a baby at the end! The first life is too painful for a lot of the characters especially after reading the side stories. (It's a HE though so don't worry)

I love the FL so much and I pity her the most. Because of her experience in the 1st life, she is very scheming and indifferent under her pure and cute image. With her family's love in the 2nd life, she softened and decided to pursue a happy and monogamous relationship with her white moonlight ML (since... more>> she got sick and tired of participating in harem schemes and fighting for a favor). She might look weak but she's actually tough and knows to fight physically and psychologically (her forte lol). The plot twist is that
Spoiler

she is the real Tang Yanyao in the 1st life. Her soul was forcefully pushed into Xu Tingruo's body so it was two souls in one body. Her real body died and she grew up as Xu Yanyao. Because of a conspiracy, she became a s*ave to various households, learned how to scheme and seduce to survive, and became the enemies' tool to control the emperor. Truth be told, the emperor did love her but he had to let someone else become the queen since they learned about her connection to the enemies. She ended up dying due to poison and both the emperor and her dad (who later learned that she is actually his dead daughter in another's body) grieved for her so she was able to return to the past (Ofc, Xu Tingruo also helped with that).

[collapse]

ML is a great ML. He was childhood friends with FL and her brother, and initially only viewed FL as a sister. Though his heart moved with FL's 'seduction' so he did his best to marry FL back. He is very patient with FL and doesn't mind FL's cunning and a bit vicious mind. I can see him as a milk dog that wags his tail at FL lol. ML is an excellent general which is mostly due to his hard work and determined personality and partially due to his genes.
Spoiler

His dad is an asshat general who forced his concubines (including ML's mother) who were pregnant with his child to abort in order to appease his white moonlight wife he snatched from another man lol. His mother was able to avoid drinking the medicine and secretly gave birth to ML. Turns out ML's mother is the granddaughter of a former famous general in the neighboring country. So yes, being a general just run in his blood.

[collapse]

I love FL's family so much! I like how they aren't sickeningly sweet and perfect. FL and his brother quarrel and bully each other a lot which is quite normal. Their parents are righteous and doting but know how to scold both of them when they did something wrong. Also, the family of FL's dad's 1st older brother (only the 2nd daughter and 2nd son tho) did have some redemption in the end.

In the end, I really felt like I grew up along with FL and the other characters. I felt happy that those who deserve happiness got their own happy ending. It's not a masterpiece or an excellent novel per say, but it did touch my heart. Being satisfied with simple happiness is indeed the best! <<less

It was very satisfying and enjoyable! The 'growing up in a happy family' aspect was done so well and contrasted so beautifully with the other unhappy families around. All the main characters were very memorable, with all their little quirks.

The only issue that lost a star from me is that I never did quite understand the supernatural aspect. 'How' it happened I get, but 'why' it had to be those two girls exactly instead of any girl off the street was never clearly explained for me. I'm hoping that the... more>> official translation will shed some light on this... until then, 4 stars! <<less

Unsurprisingly, a really good read.

I didn't know what to expect even after reading the description, but the characters sold me on the story.

Each character has its own distinctive flavor if we can call it that way.

I really like her family tbh. Their interaction made me smile a lot.

The pacing is alright and there's a lot of fluff with a little bit of tears hidden somewhere. Not gonna tell you. Go read it yourself~ It's worth the time!
