He was once Head of the Immortal Sects.

Jiang Zheliu resisted the world’s destruction, protecting the people single-handedly. After losing all his spiritual energy, his hair turned white overnight.

All that remained was a millennium passed in vain, and a grave disease.

He distanced himself from the Cultivation World, went to Zhongnan Mountain to collect herbal medicines and grow flowers, as if to retire.

Until….. Those little demons he had once saved, his cherished juniors, even those devils that he had suppressed innumerable times, all came knocking at his door, each more excited than the next gripping his hand:

“Qianbei, what type do you like? Can you not be so rigid on your requirements?”

Jiang Zheliu: “……???”

Wenren Ye is newly appointed Devil Lord of the Devil Realm.

He is cold-hearted, devilishly handsome, and when he was younger he suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of a certain Head of the Immortal Sects.

Still obsessed with this defeat, Wenren Ye hurried through the night to Zhongnan Mountain, but all he saw was white-haired weak Immortal Sects Leader, with droopy eyes, sick to the bone, with freshly coughed up blood staining his lips.

His obsession was still alive, but his heart was also thumping.

MC used to be the most powerful person holding the entire cultivation world. He lived all his life for the greater good. Now that he lost all his power and is dying, he appears to have no will left to live. Just living idly by, waiting to die. Then, ML came and wants him to live now not for the greater good, but for himself. Isn't that so sweet? So many other guys liking MC, but not one of them think for the MC's good and just wants to possess the MC : (

Characters are good. They aren't bland at all. MC is more than just a quiet and cold beauty. I find he's quite a funny one. ML is rather like a puppy in front of the MC, but... more>> he's not a pushover. MC's shidi is kind of a complex character, too. Hateful, but I kind of get what made him like that. I think MC's quietness and only talk about what's important influenced how he ended up like that

There's a twist here and there as well: MC's constitution, the truth about the world (?)

Eh, I'm not sure what else to review. There's not much going on yet for now, but I've been really liking it and I just had to give it a review. The main CP's relationship looks like it's going to be a healthy one as well. But I can't guarantee about other relationships lol MC and his shidi is toxic af

Oh, and the translation is really good! Kudos to the translator <3 <<less

Hello! Translator here - offering my honest review. Before I do that - yes IT IS FULLY TRANSLATED - the links have been removed from NU because it is password-locked (if you want to read it - search my name and the name of the novel to find out how to get access)

Now for the actual review:
First of all, even though it's technically a cultivation novel, I think the cultivation takes a backseat to the romance so does perhaps the plot.... Good points are that the main CP... more>> get together pretty quickly and it's a very light fluffy story for the most part (aside from some knives in the middle but that's only a couple of chapters).

It has some humorous parts, especially in the beginning, I enjoyed the running joke about the broken door. Overall, I think it starts off really great, fun and cute and then half-way through it becomes tediously boring (perhaps to translate because I had to read very closely).

The writer is definitely not going to win any literary awards, there are a lot of repetitive descriptions which is why I removed 1 star from the rating as I personally think this novel could have been cut short to about 70 chapters rather than 90.

The language the author used was also really colloquial and meh not the most literary even though she tried.... sometimes it took some effort to discern who was doing what (I tried to make it clearer in my translation).

Regarding the smexy parts - I personally found it a little dull and again repetitive!! because the author didn't want her content locked on JJ.

Spoiler

Most of it is just the ML rubbing and then biting the MC and our sick beauty will of course bruise like a peach. Then there's always some misunderstanding that the MC is being abused by others (haha). And MC always get in a mood with the ML after for hurting his "back" and being too big and needs coaxing and ointment rubbing on his "special place". Rinse and repeat again.

[collapse]

Overall, it's a cute fluffy light read and short (but could have been shorter). You can just whip through and binge very quickly and their relationship is sweet enough for the most part to make you feel warm and fuzzy especially in the beginning but it's not earth-shattering or particularly memorable as a xianxia novel.

If you enjoyed 'Peerless Immortal.....', you'll probably like this - similar vibes & tone and they can be read independent of each other.

Shout out to the side characters (Chang Qian & Ah-Chu) - I love the effort she made into creating these, they're not one-dimensional but fun and well-rounded :) although, some people found them creepy, I think they at least provided some comedy value. Personally I would have liked more about the side CP - Doc x little mute.

Oh and yeh, it's an mpreg:

Spoiler

- starts around c.60 so after 2/3's of the novel and the pregnancy goes on for most of the last third of the novel.

Most of my stats come from the ML, gosh he's too cute wtf. He's such a tsundere but so doting and he makes me wanna cuddle him honestly. The way he can be so childish but honest and get his words stuck in his throat bc of MC is hilarious.

Kinda got bored reading about how frial and beautiful and white MC was tbh, don't need to repetitively describe it thank you.

His physique makes me go mad tho, like bruh- yall delusional side characters and the way NO ONE can resist... more>> it is so aggravating but the little deer demon did transmigrate and sya MC was a protagonist so it makes sense I guess.

However, the amount of hand grabbing they do to MC who supposedly 'hates' being touched... Alrighty.

The plot kinda exists I guess??? I feel like it's mainly about MC and ml's relationship development and fluffy stuff while you got everyone coveting/lustful after MC while also planning to cause chaos and battle for benefits (ahem, wenyuan I be talking about you from that mysterious pavilion)

Anyways, it was a pleasant read but the descriptions can be a bit of a chore to read especially when it's so repetitive but the dynamics of the main couple just make you want to continue reading.

Oh yeah, MC can get pregnant. <<less

I like it. MC is a good senior, very loving, responsible, and put his duties first. But his junior bro hate him after MC inherited his father's as a head of the sect. MC was already felt very tired with the burden he was carrying. Then he Sacrifice his cultivation to save the world. And by losing his strength, he feels free and wants to live his retirement life in peace. Here, the devil lord aka ML or his enemy found MC who was weak with his sick and frail... more>> body but still beautiful. It made him feel burn in his heart and mixed feelings. He still wants revenge but mc's situation makes his heart beat. Then the devil start to care for MC and try to treat mc's sickness. MC know the ML is a devil young master, but don't know if ML has become a king of the devil realm.

You can feel the interaction between MC and ML kinda hot, hoho I looking forward to the main course

Until this chapter, ML and MC have a lil fight because of they care each other.

Until this chapter, I enjoy it. I mtl-ed it, and quite easy to understand. But the platform burn my eyes, too much dirty ads so I stop to read and wait patiently for the translator. <<less

It's really a good read. I thought it was so boring. But it wasn't.

The other commenters tackled all the things I wanted to say.

Everyone loved the MC. Either love from admiration, obsession, power, his body, allured from his constitution, or his position.

The genuine love came from the ml's undying and unwillingness to giveup on MC. MC gave up everything for the greater good. He spent a thousand years giving up his will to decide for himself, relationships, and especially time. All that resulted wasn't even appreciated by everyone. They... more>> showed lust, desire for power and position, and desire to conquer him. They didn't even asked for opinion. Even if they did, they just ignored it. But! The ML was different he thought the MC to live for himself. ML reunited everything for him in a sense that MC will no longer think if others. Which for me was one of the greatest point of the story. ML was so gentle. He treated the MC like a porcelain glass he wants to cherish forever. He didn't for himself despite the MC being a walking aphrodisiac. He asks for permissions. He even knows when to retreat and he know if what he will do will hurt the MC so he wont do it. If he did somehow, he regrets it even a hundred year past. Im so glad it is a happy ending or else... I wont move on from this story. <<less

If you are into "dying apathetic character's plot", this one is a gem.

The main point of the novel is the love relationship - and they are written beautifully. I am not a fan of fluff, and I don't think this one can be considered as such. It is just so sweet and warm to read.)

The main disadvantage is a mpreg tag - it disturbes me. (Btw, it stars from approx. 60 chapter)

Still, I would recommend this novel. It was a great one.

I've read about 1/3rd of it and so far I'm liking it. I might not have understood some bits correctly since I MTLed so take this with a grain of salt (It was a bit hard to MTL compared to some other stories). I'll rate and edit this review once I've finished reading.

I didn't like the sick guy's personality at first but I'm okay with it now. I've never really liked the apathetic, cold and unmotivated type but his character isn't just those things. That being said, if the story... more>> was solely from his perspective I might not have liked it as much.

I'm not sure how I feel about the love interest yet. He's the doggish type and he is gentle and respectful with the sick guy and pampers him a lot but he's really possessive and isn't really that interesting to me (one good thing about him so far is that he doesn't try to r*pe the sick guy). I don't know how he's going to turn out in the future; could be good, could be a horrible yandereish cliche or it could be just okay but it seems to be going in a good direction so far.

The chemistry between them isn't revolutionary or earth shattering but it exists which is more than I can say for most novels out there and the relationship is reasonably healthy so far.

Spoiler

The sick guy has been pursued by many people in the past but he's under the impression that they all were after him for some gain or had calculations and would abandon him for other ambitions. When he got pursued by the devil lord he didn't care at first but he ended up liking his honesty, sincerity and childishness that contrasted his power and station.

The sick guy has no will to live so he doesn't try to cure his illness and the love interest tell him something along the lines of "if you have nothing to live for then live for me" (my reaction was just -_-). Then, later, the sick guy thinks something along the lines of "I don't want to die yet, I want to accompany the devil lord for a while longer" so he tries to get better.

[collapse]

This novel has some heavy things, mostly due to the awful villain in this story but the people subjected to it are secondary characters (it bothered me more than usual because I wasn't expecting it and it kind of just popped out of nowhere, that and I've been a bit sensitive lately). I'm really thin-skinned so getting through those bits was a bit hard for me, other than that it was entertaining and worth reading (based on what I've read so far), I just hope it doesn't drop in quality by the end.

Be warned that many characters don't get good endings (a few of them even die permanently as the tags state) and many have the problem of unrequited love and die unloved and also the villains are really messed up, specially the main villain.

About the deaths:

Spoiler

So far the vermillion bird and the shidi both died. The shidi kills vermillion bird and the sick guy kills his shidi (not to avenge the bird but because of other reasons which I wont spoil).

[collapse]

To elaborate a bit about the villain:

Spoiler

He horribly tortures many people and even imprisons and locks his teacher in a cage and keeps him fatally injured at all times and forces him to do divination for him by threatening to have an evil cultivator r*pe him if he doesn't.

He also places innumerable curses, poisons,... on his half brother and makes him mute and extorts him in all kinds of ways and basically he did so many disgusting things that made me very uncomfortable (The tone kind of shifts when he's there which can make it a bit more impactful then normal since the rest is pretty calm and not that heavy. That being said, tonal inconsistency is my no means a positive or neutral trait and this is a failing on the authors part in my opinion).

If you can't stand that stuff I suggest not reading this.

I came across this a few years ago in a Rec list for MPreg novels and immediately fell in love because it hit a lot of my favorite tropes. I decided to come back once it was done translating, and mostly I didn't want to go through the steps the translator had done to support the author at that time.

I completely forgot about this until I went back to my TBR list on my notes and saw this listed. I couldn't remember, for the life of me, how the story... more>> went. I reread the unlocked 19chapters and fell in love all over again. Saw that it was completely translated and since I'd hit a dry spell in good Mpreg, I went through the steps. It was honestly easier than I expected.

It's not a perfect novel but I thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless. The translator honestly did a good job, and I really respect the way they did their best to divert support to the Original work and the author. I am sure some wouldn't have bothered (because I didn't at first), but I ended up loving it enough to do so.

The last third of the story was mostly a 3 star for me, but I'm giving it a 5 anyway because I love the MC and ML and wish more would read this. I don't think the author knew what to do exactly after they defeated the big bad. I wish the story had more of a plot near the end, or at least gone more slice-of-life and a fleshed out married life of the MC and ML.

Overall, still a good one, and worth the read. <<less

Pros :

You could read this one as a stand alone. Some characters from the previous book while some characters have the same arc type as the previous book.

MC is reminds me a lot of tge MC from the previous book but more playful. ML is as spoiled as ever and kinda went cray cray when MC got his beauty sleep of 80 years. We love n live for tormented ML.

The other characters are quite well written. Some have their own story. I love how author made the 'transmigrated' from another... more>> world chara but with a twist.

The romance is nice. We got a lot of action. We got a babe around chap 50. They be giving old married couple vibe.

The pacing is so nice and relaxing. It's more of a slice of life for me and I enjoy every single moment.

Cons :

The later smexy scenes are kinda boring tbh. I just skimmed through cus it's smexy scene every other chapter. But I do like how MC isn't afraid to take action first. <<less

I MTLed this novel and read the raws. I would rate this 3.5 stars.

About the story

MC sacrificed his vitality and strength to save the righteous cultivation world. When he needed it, his friends and acquaintances all stood by and refused to help him, resulting in him becoming fatally ill. Growing disillusioned with everyone he's ever known, he decides to live out his remaining days secluded from the rest of the world. In his new home, he encounters ML who was once defeated by him and thus a sweet and odd... more>> relationship begins.

About the MC

MC starts out as very apathetic with reason having lived a life trying to fulfill his responsibilities to others, he sees his self imposed exile as a time of final rest and release from all his obligations. His personality can be perceptive and sometimes a little stubborn of how he should appear as an elder in front of others including the ML.

About the ML

ML is very much in love with the MC to the point that at times he nearly loses himself in the process. This aspect of the relationship isn't really cleanly resolved. He cares very much about MC and wants the MC to live for himself and think for himself rather than continue to care and self sacrifice for others. Aside from always wanting to be intimate with MC, he's very caring and clingy, showing his soft side to the MC at every chance.

Why I didn't rate this novel higher

The novel has a lot of repetitive lines and gags after the major turning point in the novel and the story gets very repetitive with every demon being attracted to the MC and thinking the ML treats MC poorly. It's just a running joke that is way overused. Another thing is MC and ML and their bickering over intimacy gets very repetitive. ML feels insecure about MC traveling and will go with him everywhere. This novel isn't about cultivation so much as it loosely uses it as a setting. ML is a clingy lover with reason to MC but their interactions are very repetitive. You'd have to be someone who doesn't mind repetition and finds slice of life repeated gags charming to enjoy the length of this book. I fully agree with the translator that this book should have been shorter. The writing wasn't bad in some cases and it had good lines. It was just the first half of the novel had more emotional depth and the latter half was day to day shenanigans with no real final big bad or connective theme to the end of the novel.

TL:DR

Read this for mostly slice of live novel with an apathetic MC who slowly warms up later and a clingy ML who only gets clingier. No real danger or high stakes aside from a few moments. It's just slice of life cultivation without any overarching narrative. Ok for passing time if you like slice of life pacing. <<less
