The premise of a slapstick transmitration novel of a dirtbag entering the body of a buddha, who must see to governing a city, holds promise. Unfortunately, the writer's sense of humour seem to date from another Era in human history. When reading this short start of 23 released chapters to this novel, one will encounter disparaging remarks about the online "shemale", fear of potentially gay men, and descriptions of the protagonist lusting to bring their fiance to heel. These elements are the novel at its most gross and cringey. The... more>> highlights of the novel engages with the dramatic irony of the protagonists foolishness and selfishness being perceived as wisdom and kindness. You can def. Come away with the impression that the author wrote a character who they would enjoy dunking on. It might be salvageable <<less

This story begins similar to 'Hail the King', and it seems promising. A clueless otaku protagonist becomes a medieval ruler with a bunch of problems. Poor lad finds out he has no nails, no shoes, no riders... and the battle begins in an hour.

I see people hate this clueless MC, but the real problem is the story and the way it is told. There are absolutely no good moves from the beginning, so for the story to continue deus ex machina is needed on every step. Add to this strange... more>> japanese humor which is about constantly humiliating the poor bastard ruler of a protagonist. Too much of this presumed humor, indeed. I believe later on a clueless japanese protagonist will somehow make a killing, but this in no way makes a good story at all. Just a bunch of scenes with specific humor so far. No believable story and no consistent world building, all the scenes are written just for lulz. <<less

The author seemingly wanted to write a story about a clueless lazy foolish fair-weather protagonist whose actions became mostly interpreted as the opposite of his original intent. This type of story normally has the MC reforming his character, but in this case the author takes a slapstick approach. Unfortunately, the author was not able to create the necessary humor. This leaves the ugliness of the MC's personality to grate upon the reader chapter after chapter as the MC depends on either deus ex machina or forced plotting to proceed chapter... more>> after chapter. <<less
