TL;DR - Frustrating protagonist, poor pacing, spotty world building, too many convenient women.

Longer:

This is a mediocre novel that could probably be a good novel with some proper editing. The biggest issue in the novel isn't the premise (or the NTR, which I find like not really NTR to be honest because his GF was frankly a horrible person from the start. More like, dodged a bullet there bro). No, the biggest issue is the pacing.

By this I mean, both the pacing for the character development and the tension of the... more>> story. Igarashi Kouki (the MC) is obsessed with "winning" against his brother (Igarashi Daiki) and his parents, but in essence this means that he wants the to acknowledge that they were wrong and to be regretful about their past treatment of him.

Of course, the problem with this is that people who are as psychopathic as this never feel an ounce of regret for their actions ever and as a 27 year old man he really, really, ought to know this. He even jokes that he has an inferiority complex, but it just doesn't make sense because he never really concocts any sort of plans that would make this reality come around.

At times he seems to mature (like when he initially comes to terms with the fact that his girlfriend Saki is really just a vapid hoe) but he is still fixated on a very childish idea - and even admits it's childish, yet still insists that it's the right thing for him to do. As a reader this is very hard to read and frankly becomes boring because the most obvious thing to do to "beat them" would be to just have way more success than them and since he has not only his own knowledge of the future, but a Doraemon like robot that has no problem feeding him information from the various futures he creates (or even killing people for him) this would be so easy to do, but he claims that he "must beat them with his own strength". Which is funny, because the moment he went back in time he's already pressing advantages that he shouldn't have. Basically it's a very nebulous line what his "own strength" really is and since the author doesn't really set up any sort of cohesive win condition for Kouki, we're just left wondering why this guy is so s*upid.

On top of this, the one tension that he has in this story - the "battle" between him and his brother, he basically wins (and I think in a valid way, by basically being a better human being than Daiki) pretty early on and the tension gets completely removed from the novel, only for Daiki to come back with a very lame plot twist at the end of volume 3. I mean this - it is incredibly lame, but inevitable since resolving the issue so completely earlier on took all of the wind out of the sails of this story. This is what I mean by I think this could use some good editing - a good editor would have told the author to not to eliminate the villain so easily only to reintroduce them after several chapters of slice of life and navel gazing.

Ultimately I can't say that this is bad. Some of the characters are cool, but could be fleshed out more. Some of the scenes are cool, but the problem really lies with the pacing of the development of Kouki and the flip/flop on the pacing of the tension in volume 3. I almost wish the author would take the story down and restart it, because it's a good premise and I think he's wasting it a bit. <<less

A s*upid, pointless drama.

These type of revenge stories tend to either have an edgy or gigs chad MC getting revenge, or a pathetic MC that flounders about. Both types of writing aren’t great, but this story follows the latter type of MC.

This isn’t a satisfying story of revenge nor a good character development type of story. It just seemed kind of pointless like that mid-day soap opera your mom watches every now and then. Time travel was also prevalent and just seems to make the plot convoluted.

I read all the... more>> raws hoping the ending would at least have some type of satisfaction, but it was definitely not worth the time spent. <<less

TL;DR: The time travel is s*upid in my opinion and MC seems to be digging for a bad ending at this point.

TL;DR 2: In my opinion, this fails as a wish fulfillment story, revenge story, second chance story, and a time travel story. It feels like I would be lying if I said that the author was even trying to make a decent story at this point.

As of Volume 3 Chapter 15:

I honestly kind of hope the main character is unhappy in the end from what he's recently done and... more>> if he actually does something he said he was going to do. Most important of all, I hate how the time travel works in this.

He is living in the past with (as far as we've seen) no way to jump back to the future, so why is the future constantly changing? If he's living through his life in the past with no time jumps forward, then it should be the same future no matter what. Seemingly EVERY SINGLE decision he makes changes the future in minor and major ways. I could understand this if he was hopping back and forth from past to present and changing things kind of like Tokyo Revengers, but him just living his life out and constantly changing the future is kind of annoying.

Spoilers about something he said he was planning to do:

Spoiler

At this point in the story, his ex-gf is an outcast and her family business is failing because of what she did and his family, brother included, fled the town from getting embarrassed and harassed. He tells his ex that he's going to bring back his brother because he didn't get the revenge he wanted... MC is now famous and his family ran away in embarrassment because MC's actions made him famous and exposed them. How is that not enough revenge, especially when he has people from the future telling him about his happy life and he knows every choice he makes seems to change the future?

Annoying Romance spoilers:

Spoiler

Imagine a girl from the future says you've been dating for 10 years and your relationship is still going strong. She even tells you the day you start dating. Do you:

A) Try and see if you really like "past" her.

B) Just go with the flow and go out with her.

C) Try dating someone else instead.

D) Tell "past" her that she needs a concrete reason to want to date you or else your relationship won't last.

WHY DOES MC PICK D? He has confirmation from "future" her that they still love each other and are happy 10 years later so what's the point of telling "past" her that?

Update Volume 3 Chapter 17:

This is worse than I thought it was going going to be.

Spoiler

His brother suddenly time traveling and stabbing him just made my opinion of this drop even further.

[collapse]

I wish I could rate this below 1 star... I can't even give an exact score to this anymore but it would be less than a 1/10.

At this point, I think the author liked the idea of time travel and is just doing whatever without thinking it through. The time travel rules are bad, main character's revenge is bad, his brother and ex are worse than comic book level villains, his parents are basically nonexistent as characters, main character makes weird decisions with bad logic. <<less

I can't get passed MCs decision on how to go about handling his revenge. It doesn't feel very interesting or realistic. It feels cheesy and plot oriented.

The events in chapter 4 also didn't feel believable to me.

The translation is good enough, but the story itself just doesn't resonate with me.

It's incredibly early to give a review, I'm just giving one to give an extra idea, so, it is pretty much as the synopsis says, seems like a good one to continue with, it's off to an interesting start to say the least, and the only other thing I can say without any spoilers is that the prologue is the first chapter.
