Mum, I Used to Hate You

I once asked myself whether I had ever experienced anything… so unforgettable that it was carved deeply into my bones.

Then I thought carefully about it.

Actually, my life was pretty average and rather peaceful.

It was probably because I was still young.

But upon thinking even more seriously, it seems like I’ve ever really hated one person.

My mum.

A long chapter, but it felt very complete. Really touching, I teared up. This short story delivers a message that many children and even adults should be aware of. And that is to be filial and grateful to your parents. Sometimes we tend to forget about our parent's hardships when we're so focused on ourselves and we only start regretting when the only people who loved us unconditionally are gone. Take the time to love and appreciate them while you can, they've done so much.

Really recommend to take this short story to read.

Brings about a person's life and the way they treat the people closest to them. Truly pokes at and provokes a reader's emotions and feelings and have you question your own ways of life and whether you're really treating your own parents well enough or whether you're a filial child. Brought tears to my eyes the moment I read finished the short story.

It has you realise that there are feelings you will only start to understand only when the person is not... more>> with you anymore... You will start to yearn for the person to be back by your side within the emptiness that had built up in yourself.

Do beware, read this story with a few tissues by your side :) <<less

I read the author's one-shot called "A wind chime brings tear" and that was beautiful although it didn't bring tears to my eyes, this one really made me tear up because just like the girl in the story even I fight with my mum and as she and I grow older I realize just how hard she works for me and my father everyday. I really felt the story! It's really beautiful! ❤️

This is a story reminding us to cherish those who loved and suffered with us, not taking them for granted. At the end we will all leave this place someday and there will be no more next time. A great short read for those looking for something to knock them to realize how time is fleeting.

So it's all about the cycle of life & how you hate your parents for being incompetent when you're young. Then you actually get older & begin to understand how they've been trying their best & gradually start sympathizing with them & liking them

A nice read, I'd say

There would be times when some of us would take our mothers or parents for granted. We can easily disregard their efforts, love, and care especially when we got so used to it or when we are so focused on looking and comparing at what other people have or what they receive.

This story will teach you that a mother's love and sacrifices can go beyond what we, as children, can comprehend and that we might never really get how much our parents love us until we became parents ourselves and... more>> experience being in their shoes. So tell them you love them and appreciate the love they give you. <<less

The story is both heartwarming and saddening. I will dedicate this to mom. As also a very spoiled daughter, I always thought of how unfortunate I was in my teens because of my mom's constant perstering in my personal life. But I am very thankful to realize earlier in life, as an adult, of how lucky I was to have my mom. She may not be the best, but I couldn't imagine myself having a different kind of mom.

This just show that most of the time, we always focus on... more>> the bad side. They're plenty unlike the good ones, especially that we ought to focus on them more. But learning to appreciate will give way to those good things in life and will make you feel contented. <<less

Sniff, I am so glad I read this. It reminds me of how people are so similar to each other. So many of my friends are like this and continue to behave so.

And even now after I have read this, I involuntarily follow the same routine. This, is why I like reading books.

Books were meant to teach you things and to make you better. And this book has accomplished that and more. It always brings tears to my eyes when I read things like this.

Many a times people want to... more>> read something they could relate to, and this is one of those moments that I could feel affect me deep in my heart.

Thanks author, this was a great piece. <<less
