Professor System has issued a mission: to rescue the gentle, kind and tragic protagonist shou of the novel “The Exceptional Furnace”.

Song ‘Scholar-Tyrant’ Qingshi: “Don’t worry, Professor! I can definitely ensure the patient’s recovery!”

In the Immortal Realm:

Song Qingshi praised from the bottom of his heart: “My patient is the kindest and most beautiful little angel in the world.”

Yue Wuhuan quietly washed the blood from his hands and smiled softly: “En.”

Song Qingshi swore from the bottom of his heart: “As a doctor, I will never covet nor take advantage of my beautiful patient!”

Yue Wuhuan took full and complete advantage of the doctor and smiled softly: “En.”

Song Qingshi affirmed from the bottom of his heart: “Under my loving care, the patient will never be blackened!”

Yue Wuhuan secretly hid his monstrously evil thoughts and smiled softly: “En.”

At that inextinguishable summit, upon thousand and thousands of soul lamps, he sat on the god’s throne of white bone, guarding that piece of stone.

“You are the only one in this world who treats me tenderly.”

“And so, you are the only one I treat tenderly.”

Scholar-tyrant Song was absolutely delighted: “Professor! Can I get full marks?”

Professor System exploded: “You fool! You saved the wrong person!”

I finally finished reading it

At first, I read this because Chrysanthemum Garden is the one translating it, and I believe they always choose a good novel. And I love the fated lovers tag and the synopsis

This is really good

I think it's like "The Villain I Rised All Died" but this novel is BL, not BG. But I think it's essentially the same

It's about ... more>>
Spoiler

A powerfull god that went through a lot of suffering in the small world for a reason, and MC as the tasker with system, but with a twist in the plot and the twist of system's identity

[collapse]

And if you like "Sansheng, Wangchuan Wu Shang", perhaps, you will like this novel too. After all, the MC is
Spoiler

A stuborn stone, that went through multiple tribulations for his idol 🤭

[collapse]
. Well, , MC's real identity is not really a spoiler, because It hinted multiple time, his name = his real self in heaven

I love all the side character in this novel. All of them has reason, all of them has their own story, and everyone is the protagonist of their own story

The ending is so heartwarming and wholesome, but the road to the happy ending is so heartbreaking and tear jerking. This is the kind of story that can abused readers, but in the end, can also give us sweet, and make the sweet ending more sweeter than anything <<less

don't worry, it's not a love triangle. I was afraid of love triangles while reading because growing up, movies with love triangles were too popular and traumatized me. Plus, I am a crybaby, so it would break my heart knowing one of the three is getting hurt. But I am glad I didn't drop the novel; there is a reason why the third guy has the obsession toward MC, and we get answers later on and it's not bec of love

A good story, not lighthearted and the tragedy tag is there for a reason but it’s HE. Skipped like 50 ch because it was a bit too real for my tastes lol, especially with all the abuse and it’s psychological consequences. Well portrayed characters, interesting plot, good ending, would have deserved another 10 chapters of extras but it’s easy to imagine their forever HE anyway. Recommend

I came into this novel excited to read it. And it really didn't disappoint. If you're looking for a lot of politics, very complicated storylines, red herrings, this isn't a good novel for you. If you're looking for STRONG character development and growth, characters you can care about, and that really strong love feeling, I suggest checking this novel out.

This is a very unique take on the genre. Without getting into too many details, the author did a great job to express trauma without making it explicit. Showing how characters... more>> handle or don't handle said trauma. I really enjoyed that you could see the struggle of certain characters to grow and WHY. That's what was important to me. I wanted to know why X and Y changed so slowly. The author does great at making me feel like I can really interpret the character well, all while keeping me intrigued.

If you're looking for a light read, give this one a chance. It's very cute. But (at least for me) there were some tears involved. Nothing hardcore like other novels, but enough to keep me emotionally in check. This is one of those novels that I wish had gone longer because I just wanted more. <<less

Unless you've read this until the very end, I don't think you have the right to rate the story.

I'm not saying it's something you HAVE to read but to fully understand why things happen and make a proper critique, you have to reach the end because all of the plot points get tied there, not throughout the story but AT THE END.

That's why to objectively rate this, you have to, unfortunately, or fortunately, finish this first.

This is one of the few stories where the ending MATTERS the most and EXPLAINS all the plot you might have questioned while reading.

I started this book thinking it was going to be a light, funny transmigration novel - but while it does have lots of humor, it's also much darker and more serious than I imagined a novel like this could be.

It comments on trauma, healthy and unhealthy relationships, persistence, not just blindly doing what others in authority tell you, the need for second chances, the power of a helping hand, the value of standing up for what you believe in, how good communities can sometimes be built on cruel deeds and... more>> vats of blood. Honestly, this novel covers so much, and I found myself both laughing and crying through chapters. The characters are so beautifully defined that their stories and personalities feel so real.

While the wrapper story is not one of my favorites, it grew on me and did tie everything together very nicely. I felt the ending came too quickly, but that might just be my unwillingness to see the last of this world that the author has so carefully crafted.

This is definitely a story I'd happily reread - there are so many little details and connections I missed on my first reading (the reader/translator comments are great at pointing some of them out, but I feel like I still need another reading to really savour those details) <<less

Not as good as hyped, not as bad/traumatic as some say.

Someone said it was like "Legendary Masters Wife", it's not. So much N.O.T.

I'll try to explain my not so enthusiastic 3 star review.

  • Disjointed storyline
  • "Foreshadowing"
  • MC/ML no communication
  • 2d characters especially side ones.
Before I start about my above named problems with this novel, I want to say something about the "abuse" in this story. Ppl seem to be afraid of this part. There will be no live abuse or detailed description. So I might be blunted cause it's not my first hero... more>> that suffered but if you are like me christened by books like Sherrilyn Kennyons Acheron, then this is child s play. This made it through censorship... so nothing really gonna happen.

About the storyline.... this writer has a fable for the easy way out... why explain and work hard if your MC simply can fall in a coma/dissappear/cultivate for years and let the others face the problems. As soon he appears again he is rich, has everything he wants and only needs to live a good live. So you have to bear a string of blackouts, recap of some highlights, blackout, recap and so on...10 years, 3000 years... why troubling themselves. This destroys the flow like he'll. And if it's not a blackout, then it is a mysterious item that gives highlights of another live... I felt like did they do anything in the present? I think the writer had some plan but wasn't able to implement it smoothly and thinks the reader dumb enough that they can simply brush over it.

This brings me to the next point: Foreshadowing. There are novels that put in so subtle Foreshadowing that you only get it when the actual deed happens or even only when you read the story a second time... this is not such a beauty. This novel gives hints with a blunt bat and dragging you to the hint pushing your nose into it and screaming at you "H.I.N.T! Understand it! I'm so awesome!". Zero suspense.

About the MC and ML... sigh. It could have been so good. MC is set up as a high level scholar/medic with social anxiety. Basically he burrows in at home and reads or does experiments. ML was set up with that tragic background, had some suicidal thoughts (for 4 chaps or so) and its sooooo hard for him to overcome his past. MC tries to heal MLs psychological Problems.... but no, not with speaking about the problem or actual communication. No he simply endulged him in everything and help him kill off his offenders by researching powerful poison. And while he is out of order for years on end he let's his patient fend for himself and somehow enrich MC and find lots of treasures. So to be honest I don't see any healing in this story. It's another brush over that's solved with that ridiculous ending.

The side characters... the writer started up so good but all of them fizzled out fast. Especially the great love rival... the writer started in a comment he would have a good ending... yeah no. I wouldn't call it a good ending. I felt far more sorrow for that guy then the abused ML. There were a lot of characters that were thrown in and I really wanted to see their development and then they were already thrown to the side as unimportant. just paper cutouts to enlarge the cast.

The idea of this novel was good but how it came out doesn't suit me. I found it boring and annoying. <<less

This is another one of those stories where the summary doesn't even come close to what the story is. To explain it would give too much away. Just consider it the story of how a stubborn stone can change the course of a river.

There is a wonderful variety of characters here, very nice to see so many varied personalities (and strong women not all green tea b*tches). The author put together a very definitive plot arc and stuck to it (check the author's note near the end of arc 1... more>> for details) which keeps the plot together and moving without digressions. I know some people like side stories so they can see more of the characters but I love stories where the characters and story act together and stay on track. I can always re-read a good story, and I'm keeping this one on my list! <<less

It was four very emotional days while I was reading this story. I loved it from the first sight and mtl'ed to the end (mtl is very clean, had almost no problem with it). The story is so rich and powerful; it starts as hurt/comfort, then it's a love story, then it's a story of a soul and of the world, with gods and demons, but in the end it's still a love story, pure and beautiful.

The MC is incredibly loveable from the start, but as the story goes on... more>> and I learned more things about him, I fell in love with him even more and more, he's so precious. The final revelation about him was so touching. The ML is glorious. He is very traumatized (actually, most characters suffer from trauma in the book) but he was noble even in his blackening. With so many stories where yandere-ML r*pes the MC, it was absolutely refreshing to read the one without this trope. I loved An Long, I actually wouldn't mind reading more about him. And Bai Zihao's story is perfect, too.

There are many funny moments in the book, many heartbreaking moments and many cathartic moments. I laughed and cried when reading it, and I'll keep love for many characters of the story in my heart forever. <<less

I'm so glad that I decided to read this novel

After reading Devil Venerable Also Wants To Know, I wanted to read something to scratch the ick it left. And boy it did exactly that, also thanks to that one reddit comment which made me pick this novel up.

Now, the novel although is nothing like DVAWTK it has his own charms and it's beautifully written imo. The ML was so fleshed out as a character and even the MC's personality was spot on as ... more>>

[collapse]

The story line although a bit boring at times, it wasn't something that made me stop reading or drop it, if you can binge the novel, you won't even feel that it was boring lol.

The most interesting part was definitely when everything started making sense and we could finally start connecting the dot.

Also the MC, oh my god, as a fellow anti social person who finds it difficult to make friends or doesn't get too much social clues. I totally get where he's coming from, he's adorable and the most Lovable protagonist ever (on par with Xie Lian). When we actually got to his part of the story and to his trauma and how he handles it, istg I cried so much. He's just too good and too loyal and too much in love, and Yue Wuhuan is super lucky to have a partner like Song Qingshi and vice versa.

As for the ML, he had been through some sh*t (and by that I mean unimaginable shit), his actions, his way of treating everyone makes perfect sense (even before we get to know about the plot twists) he needs therapy, severe therapy sessions and our MC tries his best to give that to him (but sadly MC wasn't the best at psychology). His character development was the reason I'd recommend this book, him from the start to him at the end. It was satisfying to say the least, the author promised that they'd give and it was showing.

Lastly I'd like to say, anyone who has any doubts should give this books a chance it's only like 120 chapters anyway so it won't be a long read anyway but it really resonates with you. The author's idea was something that I found unique and she stayed true to her characters.

P.S: I love the Author's Note, those silly little notes were so fun and my absolute favourite (author's notes supremacy>>>>>>>>>) <<less

I loved how they dealt with trauma and how they built trust between them, which is not very common in this genre of book, how they learned to live with their flaws and how they evolved based on what could affect the relationship.

It was a bit of a cliché ending, but as incredible as it may seem, I really didn't expect it, I love well-used clichés.

FYI before we start, the website chrysanthemum garden already fully translated this story, so no need to MTL. Also im so happy to see the new cover of the story as well! I liked the og cover but I really really think this story deserves a beautiful cover like the new one here!

I've reread this story like 5 times, all the way through. Not including how many times I reread a certain arch from the story ofc..

Please please if you dropped this story I need you to RETHINK. This is... more>> like, , an absolute gem.

its obvious that the author planned the storyline thoughtfully before they wrote the novel, genius I would say.

the shou seem like hes "dumb" "naive" "emotionless" in the beginning, but this is all for a reason, like I said, this story is well thought out, everything basically happens for a reason, he gets better and better throughout the story, trust me it's all worth it.

there is a plot twist, not unnecessary love rival- not unnecessary- borderline yandare mentions of ab*se, and r*pe ML doesnt force the MC to do anything s8xual. Possessive. Extreme. Multiple archs, but its one world, not quick transmigration. ML is a borderline yandare in the beginning,
Spoiler

and then at some point he actually becomes a yandare.. But it gets resolved, like I said, it gets explained.

[collapse]

Story is HE

there were times I cried, the ML really has gone through ALOT.
Spoiler

The ML sees the MC as someone who is pure, and he wants to worship the MC without dirtying him, because the ML sees himself as something dirty and disgusting, because he has been played with in every way. The mental state of the ML kinda goes.. Downhill from there on out. Because then he starts to have desires towards the MC, and thats what he despises the most.

[collapse]

This story shows why trust is so important to the people you love, I cried at the end.

Quick side note: If anyone’s looking to read the whole thing, Chrysanthemum has a good TL :)

The highest praise one can give to a romance novel is that it was NEVER FRUSTRATING. Don’t get me wrong, the reason wasn’t because it was all sunshine, I still laughed and cried (a lot). It just doesn’t have the pitfalls that a lot of lazy romance authors use to drive the plot forward.

  • They always try to solve their problems logically and respectfully.
  • They work to recognize and overcome their character flaws.
  • They never do anything “unforgivable, ” even in extreme distress.
  • Even the few misunderstandings that I can remember weren’t frustrating ones.
I do really love the dynamic of a “yandere filled guilt over some perceived immoral thing and fears being found out and rejected”... more>> and a “silly and seemingly-dense doctor who already knows he’s crazy but knows it’s a trauma response and logically explains why the thing isn’t immoral.”

Overall, great read! Highly recommend :) <<less

This novel is not for everyone.

I knew what the story had since I read the tags but man this was too much. My heart physically hurt for Yue wuhuan. I have my fair share of reading stories with r*pe content but this one was too much. I even considered dropping this because I couldn't take it.

The plot was not exceptional but it was interesting enough to get me hooked.

MC being oblivious was not annoying at all but was rather adorable. His love for ML and everything he did for ML... more>> was so heartwarming. I literally teared up when everything was revealed later on. They went through so much.
I'm glad they had a happy ending, they literally deserved it. <<less

Not going to lie I gave this up after chapter 38- I don't agree with the villain title for the ML his reactions to the bs he faces hardly makes him a villain more like a vigilante imo

Up to the point that ive read the plot is quite simple and things are explained as is with no build up- there's no world building and it gets repetitive. I like the characters but I feel like the depth of the topic of human trafficking and s*x s*avery was handled in any... more>> realistic way

Its an easy read, and it kept me engaged while reading but it was too long for the lack of plot so I gave up

Jumped chapters to see how it'd turn out for this pairing and I'm happy to say they get a happy ever after ending yay <<less

ANOTHER NOVEL HAS ENTERED MY TOP TEN. I WAS SOBBING SO MUCH I COULDNT BREATHE AH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL NOVEL THIS IS!

It made me so emotional, I laughed, I cried, I got angry, I felt miserable, I felt so overwhelmed. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! The author defies the stereotypical tropes like ''position has sm to do with personality'' which is complete bs, thank gosh the author mocks those kinds of tropes making the romance flawless.

The plot omg... It was so unexpected I feel so naive! I didn't expect the... more>> world building to be this huge TT everything made so much sense, the foreshadowing, the little moments that are connected to the future, it made so much sense! The plot is like an iron fortress that is devoid of any weaknesses. I can't explain how amazing it is...

I ADORE THE CP SO MUCH. THE ML SUFFERED SO MUCH THE MC SUFFERED SO MUCH AH CURSE YOU DEMONS.

they are the epitome of true love, they invented true love.

The ML is a yandere and I love him! The MC is a math obsessed doctor and I love him! I love how their love story came to be, I love how their little interactions came to be, I love every bit of this novel.

I loved them so much I couldn't let them go, I had to sob my lungs out due to the joy of them being together forever hand in hand, and due to sadness that I couldn't watch their journey anymore, due to sadness that made me feel like I lost my closest friends, I saw them at their worst, I saw them at their best, I witnessed everything and It's a blessing.

''Does it hurt everyday?'' Song Qingshi asked. Yue Wuhuan stared at him for a while and nodded, ''It hurts.'' Song Qingshi took him into his arms and patted his back, ''Don't be afraid, I'll hurt with you.'' <<less

Actually I hated this novel at first after reading halfway but I decided to continue and see how it goes. Why did I hate it? 'Cos from where I stopped at last time, the ML was too much for me to bear with and I felt that the MC was being deceived so I dropped it from its toxicity. Also, this novel kind of reminds of tgcf except huacheng isn't as yandere/toxic as wuhuan.

I would hv given this 5 stars but there's some aspects that I didn't really like abt... more>> this novel:

  1. Yue wuhuan (ml) is deeply scarred & traumatized from the abuse he received when he was a s3x s*ave. This kind of led to his toxic yandere personality and trust issues. I don't like wuhuan as a character at all, something abt him just aggravates me.
  2. Shi Qingshi (mc) He is your typical oblivious, smart yet dumb shou. Plus he is rather eccentric as in the way he ENJOYS doing math practices and studies non-stop. The only thing I like abt him is that his v adorable, the clean and soft spoken type.
  3. Okay this is very ironic of me to say this after reading 120 chapters of a romance novel featuring the couple (qingshixwuhuan) but I don't like them together. I feel like wuhuan doesn't DESERVE qingshi like qingshi is just superior to him (my opinion).
  4. I also don't like how
    Spoiler

wuhuan goes mad and commits su*cide, somehow getting reincarnated as a phoenix god. The author favors him too much honestly it's kinda annoying

    [collapse]
Nevertheless, I still gave this a high rating (4stars) due to the overall storyline and the amusing side characters plus the MC is super cute as I must reiterate. Btw, despite the tags ZERO SMUT is shown explicitly and the r*pe tag is abt the ml's past and no the ML DOES NOT r*pe the MC. (Tbh I really wanted to see them do it tgt but I guess it's a shounen-ai after all and there's censorship boohoo) <<less
