Written at chapter 20:
If you like SoTR, then you'll probably like this. The MC's of both series are arrogant, asshat know-it-alls from advanced magical societies inhabiting the bodies of down-on-their-luck plebs. They both mistreat those around them, expect everyone to fall down and kowtow to their magnificence and have a tendency to make things worse before using violence to make them better again. Use of intelligence is obviously very rare.

And, much like Sovereign of Three Realms, Miracle Throne also has a love for dragging out everything far beyond reason... more>> so that little, if anything ever really happens in any given chapter.

However, if this doesn't sound appealing to you, then I can't recommend this series. <<less

I like the MC's straightforward personality. Smart, c*cky, funny and ruthless. Not wasting time beating up arrogant punks, spanking girls that try to hurt him, and out-schooling so called masters. Looking forward for this series to continue being translated.

Update: The MC is not as ruthless as I believed.
Spoiler

A female tries to kill him several times, not only does he let her off, but saves her several times from the brink of death.

I can not understand the cliche I mentioned above. I have dropped several stories because of mentioned cliche.

I wasn't sure at the start, but I'm almost certain now. This is essentially the Chinese version of the r18 Japanese light novels.

As one can see from the cover, the heroine's clothes are also very revealing. If I'm not wrong, that girl is supposed to be sixteen years old, and that's what she normally wears going to class. This may be the norm for everyone else cause every time a named female character appears, the author mentioned long legs and full bosoms. Fortunately for our imaginations, every heroine is... more>> beautiful, has a saucy body, and are utterly helpless without Chu Tian around to pull their (perfect) butts out of the fire. Really, even the supposedly strong heroines are pretty dumb and become play-doh around Chu Tian.

Chu Tian, our protagonist, is perfect. He knows everything and there is nothing he can't do. But, because he's from an alternate future where magic reign supreme so rather than modern technology, he relies fantasy-technobabble-mumble-jumble that is very similar to our own stuff (light bulbs, air conditioners) to lord over everybody and win the day and prove to everybody that he's the best. So, yeah, his arrogance is on par with Donald Trump.

Now, I wouldn't mind an another Step into the Past clone if the story was good... But, for me, this was pretty average for me. Where I am, there is little to no explanation of Chu Tian's previous life and world, other than that it was really advance and he was a genius. The author essentially just drops Chu Tian into the past and that's it. That's where we start at. From then on, Chu Tian creates some new revolutionary technology in the background and explain what it is and what it does and how superior it is, and that's our exposition, I suppose. The story also moves really fast. How fast? Chu Tian, in two days, has already destroyed the primary threat to his love interest and saved the day at least three times.

The characters themselves are also pretty generic. They don't act like normal people, you know, cause normal people usually have pride and dignity and a personality. They are only around to stroke Chu Tian's ego and make everyone else look bad. The villains are laughably terrible.

I like the premise, but the author obviously couldn't deliver without relying to heavy technobabble to save the day. It wouldn't be so bad if the author just slow down and flesh out the story rather than go straight into the action and make Chu Tian into a pure Gary-Sue. This, and the characters, makes me feel really weird when reading this. More than once, I ask myself, is this someone's power fantasy?

Anyhow, I don't like this story so far, but I may come back to it, primarily because I see a lot of good reviews so I assume the story gets better later on. I am reading the raws so I'm not at all influenced or limited by the translators. I just choose to stop at where I am. <<less

I feel like people are jumping to conclusions from about first 10-20 chapters.
Spoiler

The real story starts after when they go to the capital city. The novel is pretty fast with its story line and so the characters aren't fully fleshed out but it is much better than typical Chinese novels.

It is more focused on building their Miracle company into a giant. The MC has huge advantage regards to tech since he came from future being Great Sage (one of the Most learned). His plan is to make his company biggest power so he can get stronger and explore universe mysteries. As I said this book is fast so it is nothing like SOTR which drags one fight for 20 chaps. Even though this is similar to typical Chinese novel, in the beginning, it changes to full on company building novel so you won't have to repetition of the typical Chinese novels. It is like going from underdog to king and king isn't going to get provoked by random young masters.

There is absolutely no Ecchi or Harem (maybe one more love interest but nothing until now). So don't mistake it from the cover and first few chapter. The romance is much better than rest of Chinese novels because MC and female lead actually spends time together (Wow amazing right??).

We have the same cast of characters throughout the whole novel so we actually get to know the characters instead of them passing by in few chapters.

Overall, change from typical Chinese novels after you get to the capital city arc. Oh, I think the author has put this on hiatus or dropped it since it hasn't been updated in few months.

Read it, definitely worth the time. Didn't think I'd say this but I just love the MC's arrogance in this one and probably the only time i'd say this, not atg, not sotr, not anything else. It's a very good change of pace *kinda* from the usual mindless killing and offending people for no reason accepted, that happens here too.

Just read the first 5 chapters of it before deciding to continue or not, the first 5 should tell you plentifully which type of a series this would be and for... more>> some reason I believe its slice-of-life even though I hate slice of life types, <<less

Do NOT drop this story after just a few chapters. It gets really good, enough so that when I ran out of translated chapters, I went and blazed through the mtl version without sleeping for days straight, and I never read mtl's. Ever. The story is freaking addictive to read, the MC is hilarious, the world-building sucks you in - much like Release That Witch (if you like it, you'll like this one too) - the global business expansion (or I should say pancosmic) is super interesting, and I need... more>> more chapters now!!!! No hiatus, no!!!! It's a lot different from most novels out there, but you need to get a little ways into it. All the reviews from people giving it a bad rating when they've only read 10 chapters, are ridiculous. In my opinion, it's one of the most entertaining there is (and that's even reading the mtl version). Once you get out of the "start-up area" and get to the capital city, it starts getting really good and you won't be able to put it down. Plus, the translators of this version do a great job on all their translations. <<less

This is very similar to SOTR (Sovereign of the Three Realms) and Tales of Demons and Gods. The MC goes back to the past (he goes way way back, before he was born and when alchemy and the like were under developed).

It offer very much the same kind of events as SOTR/ToDG, MC comes back in time, uses his knowledge to wow and impress people and such, a lot of the events revolves on that knowledge that the MC brought back with him. Knowledge he has not "created" just memorized... more>> for the most part, yet he looks down on everyone as being backward and tr*sh for not knowing it while everything he knows was build by those people and their future generations as they worked it out... for him to memorize in the future..

The beginning has a very interesting premise, the MC goes back in the body of a noble that was sold as a s*ave to another noble girl.

This is somewhat original but it is basically dropped after a few chapter, the MC is still a s*ave, however he is an arrogant douchebag that looks down on ABSOLUTELY everyone. And after a few chapters the people from the family that bought him are basically his followers even though he is still their s*ave (?). They will listen to him, walk behind him, ask for his advice and try to convince/please him to do stuff.

Let's get back to the MC, as said before, he is an arrogant douchebag, it could have comedic effects but unlike MC's in SOTR and ToDG he is just that... purely arrogant. He is not an arrogant guy that is "good" deep down and use his arrogance to hide it or "for fun". He will do some good thing, at times and very randomly, and he will protect the girls of the family he is a s*ave to, but you never feel he has any respect or affection (besides "I want to feel her up") for any of them, or any other character. The more powerful or famous the character he meets, the more arrogant and douchebagish he is. It doesn't matter if that character is actually a good guy or is respectful to him. He will treat him/her like tr*sh.

The story has a similar progression than SOTR as well but it is even faster. You are not even 20 chapters in that you will hear the MC's usual "this country is too small, I will eventually have to leave it" which is the usual plot mechanic to "reset the scene to start the same stuff with new characters." and which I loath.

If he is good enough and has all this knowledge that will change the world, why not make his place "big" instead of running around for a place that was already made big by others? After all he is looking down on everything others have done.

Anyways, I am a little disappointed by this, it has potential, some stories are interesting and have a little bit of plot twist (a tiny tiny bit), but the MC is unlikable. It uses cliche plot devices for most of the story, and ignores the only good original thing it has over the other similar novels. The enemies are throw away characters that will die a few chapters later, they are the "comic over the top completely ridiculous bad guys" that will make outrageous demands and are so completely self centered they are not even believable.

I would not recommend it. It's not bad, but the start is worse than SOTR and ToDG so if you read those first... It will be a hard read.

If you can get past the MC's attitude it will probably be OK, especially if you didn't ready any of other two novels I mentioned.

The translation seems to be of very good quality. As far as I can tell with my limited english. <<less

200 chapters summarized:

  • MC needed money to get stronger, so he "invented" stuffs and every living being just fawn over it like mindless zombies despite said stuffs are extremely overpriced. Everyone (including the author) just praised the MC for his "brilliance" in every aspect by stating "this X is so profound that none can comprehend it".
  • Bad guy envied the MC for his strength, money, knowledge or invention; and tried to kill him. Well, the MC wasn't actively provoking anyone, but the villains just simply hated everything he did.
  • MC beat up the bad guy of higher level (because the bad guy "underestimated" him), causing people to praise him for his "talent" and stronger bad guy to notice him. Repeat.

A unique reincarnated / transported to the past genre where the MC is mostly using his brains in the novel, along with his knowledge of the the world thousand years later, his arrival is destined to change the world.

The only downside is the incredibly s*upid heroine and annoying characters. I just can't bear to read past chapter 10, it irks me by a lot.

If you can ignore these parts which I do not like, then I'm sure you can be reading a good story probably, since I did not continue... more>> anymore. 6.5/10 <<less

The premise is dumb. The MC is some super godly figure thousands of years in the future when he gets sent back. Instead of laying low and building up strength he pisses off everyone he can talk to. He also hangs around in the same city where he pisses everyone off after he gets freed from s*avery. Ridiculous.

Good and bad. I read it just to quench my curiosity on the next invention, but then dropped it because MC and antagonists are unbearable.

Pro :

  • I like the fact that the idea to use future inventions to accelerate development is implemented and not ditched after 3 chapters.
  • Actual female MC descriptions, not just "jade like beauty" like I usually see.
Con :

  • MC is an idiot savant, knowing many technical things, but as careful as a bulldozer in a china shop, making an enemy of practically everyone he encounters. He is arrogant, hot headed, and immature. At least he isn't a complete psycho, only destroying the ones against him (but that's basically everyone else).
  • Many characters are behaving like hot headed teens instead of mature people, making dumb decisions, having muscles instead of a brain, needlessly cruel and wasteful of human resources.
  • Exclamation points! So much of them! Everything is exciting!

Pretty mad about all the bad reviews people are giving after reading just 20 chapters. At that point they're just judging the book from its cover, and I'm not even sure what their criteria for a good novel is, but it seems like they really like those pansy harem MC's that get pushed around and are liked by tons of alpha girls for having below average abilities.

If you like those kinds of novels, this isn't the one for you.

This novel features a badass MC with amazing knowledge (he's a genius... more>> from the future basically) that has a bad starting place, but amazes everyone around him. He isn't afraid of the two-faced, self-serving people who are arrogant because of their family backgrounds. If you offend him, he won't let you off, but if you treat him well, he returns the favor.

The females in the novel are not your overbearing, fall easily, stereotypical mush-brained fools, and they have varied personalities. You have your headstrong battle-loving girls (who give their respect to the MC only after defeating them), and a pair of sisters who are willful but grateful to the MC for helping their family out of a disaster. They don't become brain-dead devoted to the MC like in other novels, but they retain a healthy independence in their business relationships. The novel is actually less about romance and more about the MC showing up arrogant people with his superior intellect and abilities. Also, don't assume the girl on the cover art is the 16 year-old little sister. It isn't, and the artist/author isn't super sexualizing the females in the novel (and keep in mind that 16 years old in ancient times is well... old enough to be married and have children).

Finally, the pacing is great. "Only" 138 chapters (solid chapter length, not super short) translated at this point, but there have been several arcs so you're not stuck with the same supporting cast the whole time. One of the comments complained about how he didn't like the sisters at the beginning and how the MC would be stuck with them forever... but he was only 20 chapters in on the first arc. Fool. Most of the reviews below 3 stars were given by people who didn't make it past the first 30 chapters, most of the reviews that came from people that actually read the novel like the depth of the characters and plot.

Check out the novel summary. If you like the general gist of it, it's a well-written novel. <<less

I was bored and didn't have anything else to do so I discarded my brain and kept reading. For that this novel gets a bonus star. Apart from that, it's pretty tr*sh.

"A full year's worth of interest would be 20%. One hundred source stones stored for one hundred years, wouldn't that become one hundred and twenty source stones? " I would strongly recommend the author to go back to primary school to relearn basic maths. There have been so many s*upid errors like this that the author doesn't seem to care.

It's a pity that this was cancelled because it was a fairly enjoyable read. Then ending is not an ending though, it simply just comes to an abrupt stop. Right when things were getting interesting too, because of this I don't recommend wasting your time reading it. You'll only be left unsatisfied.

If you like "Otherworldly Evil Monarch" You'll like this. I love the Harem. Each girl has a unique personality and MC is a huge troll... But after awhile the girls turn annoying AF. They are pretty much smooching off the MC and they act like its their achievements. I hate how the MC gives these 2 useless sisters resources. The girls aren't even honest with their feelings... This is how it goes.
Makes stuff - Gains Enemies - Kills Them...

Spoiler

The MC makes AudioBooks to teach cultivation and sells off his advance knowledge. Its far too naive. And not wary and reckless with his knowledge. Might as well make a school! If your not taking control over the knowledge that starts wars and fights.. You pretty much fudged up history and not even thinking about it or feeling a shred of responsibility

[collapse]

Ill have to agree with other reviews. There's no good balance between Technology building and Cultivating. Author needs to get his priorities straight. But I still love this for the comedy and its entertainment.

Spoiler

If the MC took them as wives it would be cool but there's no good reason why he should give huge power ups to normal girls. Then they act too c*cky as if its they are the most talented in the world. I understand if its the Mayor daughter since she's talented or the Princess. I really have a good impression of the Mayor. I hate how the Author suddenly brought the development of MC original body being from a 'famous family' but it has nothing to do with MC and the MC doesn't explain this to the rest so they think the 'MC' was tortured when he wasnt.

[collapse]

The MC is not wise at all. He is smart and knowledgeable but has never done wise decisions.. <<less

Initial impressions after ch9, rated 3.5 rounded up to 4 to drum up interest for the story. The links for chapters 1-5 are outdated and deleted, you can find them all at the Novels Ground site.

It’s a time travel story, but instead of a few years or a decade or so; it’s 30, 000 years back into the past for our MC.

The first chapter starts with a very misleading incident that possibly foreshadows the half-serious nature of the story. The MC Chu Tian is a Wiseman from the far future... more>> where technology is near indistinguishable from magic. Thrown back into a past by a experiment gone awry, he found himself resurrected into the body of a young s*ave belonging to a declining merchant family.

Finding the entire experience to be a mere annoyance and somewhat amused and curious at his new situation, he immediately sets out to improve his life. He is prepared to do anything necessary... even if it includes dragging the ‘primitive’ civilization up with him.

The pace is very quick and the story should be a straightforward one, but there is something entertaining about the MC blatantly displaying his overpowered advantages and brow-beating his skeptics as ignorant idiots. Like said earlier, it reminds me of The Empyrean Overlord.

Will be checking up on this. <<less

This novel starts mediocre, has a high midpoint, and then ends poorly.

At the beginning, it’s pretty standard Xianxia, and the MC is interesting and confident, but it has some awkward moments with regards to pseudo-harem elements.

In the middle, it excels, as the world opens up and the MC has to deal with politics.

And then the later part happens. For a huge portion of the novel, there is no tension. The MC has such OP tech that none of the threats are actual threats. The opponents they built up for hundreds... more>> of chapters are dismissed in mere moments, and the people who are supposed to be even stronger than them get beat instantly.

Meanwhile, our genius dedicated MC basically stops developing things personally and leaves that to his not-harem. He basically shows up to talk and fight and does nothing else. Most of his inventions are made and very little actual new stuff gets made.

And then the author just gave up and left with basically no real climax or conclusion.

3/5 start, 4/5 middle, 1/5 end. <<less

Finally, a solid story. Of course, MT isn't anything really original—there's still a bunch of cliches and parallels to many of the other novels that I've read so far. After getting exasperated in my search for stallion novels, I have returned to this regular cultivation genre, and it didn't disappoint.

The MC is almost exactly what I want: relatively reasonably arrogant, clever, OP, and courageous. And of course, shameless. Shamelessness is a key factor in whether I can enjoy a story. Plus all of the higher leaders are basically women, which... more>> is always great. Power to the girls! Though at the same time, since the MC is male, I was pretty dissatisfied with how the MC can often be a yes-man to the girls. Indulging and pampering them has limits, you know. Doing that doesn't fit your personality. Plus he decides to start a romance first with the weakest one, which to me was slightly irritating, though I'm hoping that he marries/has relationships with the other ones as well. That polygamy tag better not be lying. But still I believe his first kiss is like 480ish, and there isn't even any smexy scenes, which is also really weak. Sigh. I guess there isn't a pe*verted protagonist tag, so he's just a innocent little boi.

Pretty sad that the story isn't complete, I would have been interested in seeing him achieve his dreams, but the story is pretty long winded. Got a little bored around 500 chapters in (LNMTL isn't bad) —dropped.

**

Initial rant:

Right off the bat, I gotta come here and rant about the first chapter. I thought the girl and the MC were going to do some smexy stuff—everything the author wrote was implying it heavily. And then all that buildup to make the MC do homework instead? Don't play me like this!

Alright, rant over. I'll be back to write a real review when I actually read through this story. Hopefully it won't disappoint. <<less
