I might be a bit partial since I'm the one translating it, but this novel is shaping up to be great.

The central focus of it is a very RPG-like environment, which has been done before, but more on a co-operation and 'Item' side- This is the Antique Shop of Labyrinth City, not the Giant OP Main Character Slaughter House.

I look forward to see what other items the crew are going to appraise together, looking ahead everything from an Unadorned Steel Ring to a Strangely Serpent-like Dagger, every item seems to... more>> be a bit more than the author might claim.

Has LN adaption, 240k total characters on the webnovel (about 35 thousand of which are now translated), and relatively good reception in Japan (making a profit off of the novel release, enough so for the second volume to be out by the end of the month).

Currently 48 chapters released, 6 done (would be about 12 by now if not for the good ol' real life sh*t excuse).

Should anyone pick this up to read, I hope you enjoy and I hope I can get up to date with the author within the next few months. <<less

TL;DR: definitely not bad, but couldn't get this "I want more of this" when reading it.

It's basically a collection of short stories, told in a fairly light hearted tone.

The writing is slightly superior to the "usual" Japanese web novels (they use really simplistic vocabulary and structure, which translates into detached phrases when translated). The translation is really fine for the most part, but suffers from the lack of "gender neutral" pronouns in English, leading to a lot of he/she/it differentiation. As far as I can tell, there are no glaring... more>> issues of phrases that make no sense in English, it's been properly formatted, and it feels like the proper meaning was translated (rather than just the words themselves).

The main "problem" I have with this novels is that it has a very "odd" story telling, giving us very little about the world or the characters (on purpose I would think). To the point where you are not sure about who the "main" character (s) is.

Granted, it might be slightly clearer in the original language (it's really hard to translate the secondary meaning that quite a bit of Japanese words can carry, for example), but it creates a very "disconnected" feeling for me.

On its own, the novel is far from bad, but I can't chase that feeling even by reading further chapters, so I give it 3 stars. I'd love to give it 3.5, because it's above what I consider average, but it's also bellow what I would consider a proper 4 stars (in my book, everyone has different scales after all).

As a note though, do try to read at least 2-3 "stories" (the first one is over multiple chapters), to get a better feel for the characters. <<less
