On a certain day, a certain thought came to Japan’s Sun Goddess. ——Aren’t there too many Japanese people being abducted to other worlds? It’s true that the large majority of Japanese are diligent and docile and soft-hearted, which makes them pretty much the best people to ask for favors. “But recently it’s just gotten way too out of hand…… Oh, I’ve got it! Whenever a Japanese person is summoned, I just have to summon an otherworlder!” And now, every time a Japanese person is summoned, princesses and elves and beastmen and whatnot are reverse-summoned. Under the acknowledgement of the government, they begin living in Japan. Today, too, Japan is at peace. And so begins this laidback isekai cultural exchange story♪

You can probably tell from the title and the description that this story is made purely for comedic purposes. It's made to be a Gag story and is just making fun of different isekai tropes. Never ever take this story seriously.

It sends jabs towards isekai tropes and cliches and just basically tries to make you laugh and smile.

I recommend it if you want a laugh.

I'm giving it five stars to support the story and translator even a little bit.

This novel is very self aware and the author seems like enjoy writing this very much. Its still too early but so far the story managed to be constantly hilarious. The novel is all about parodying common isekai, so someone who hasn't read many of those kind of novel may not fully appreciate this novel.
Spoiler

From OP japanese man (but he's transgender), Suddenly becoming queen (but the queen is rotten fujoshi fan),
the constant praise to japanese culinary, and etc)

[collapse]
. Unique aspect of this story is that, the story is told in third person with unreliable comment and information, it's like author commentary that pierce fourth wall.

And, the translation team are top notch and manage to release everyday constantly with great quality. The novel also have thick japanese culture embedded in it, so the addition of notes from translation team explaining what the novel reference to is great help.

I ended up dropping this on chapter 20. The story tends to have a weird atmosphere to it and the structure of the story is kind of all over the place. I like to believe it's the author making fun of other novels, But there tends to be a lot of praising Japanese while shitting on most other cultures. Might be part of the joke but it just comes across as weird and kind of awkward.

I like the cover art. I wish we got a story with the Sun-Goddess going... more>> to an alternate world and "Trying" To live as a Normal human instead of this (No joke I would love a story like that, A goddess restricting her powers during her stay in that realm and slowly becoming OP and stuff through normal adventures and shit) If this ever get's a manga I might read it. This story does seem more like something that belongs in a Manga more than an LN. <<less

Well, it makes itself out to be a gag novel and I guess it kind of is. It rapid fires bad gags like there's no tomorrow. One after another, like a god damn machine gun. It would've been great if there was any thought put into it whatsoever, if the gags weren't just plain bad 99% of the time. During these 15 chapters, it managed to make me barely smile a few times and laugh twice. That's not a good ratio seeing how it probably told hundreds of bad jokes.... more>> All the way through, I really felt it wasn't able to capture my attention at all.

Actually, the worst part isn't really that the gags are bad. Sure, they're bad, subpar jokes that has no real thought put into them, but it would've easily been a 3/5 or even close to 4/5 even if the jokes were pretty much the same but executed well. If the author actually built up the situation and made the jokes relevant in any way instead of just dropping them one after another. You see, the story is incredibly disconnected. There's no immersion to be had, no interest to be found. It might work well in manga format or even anime format, but in novel format, it doesn't, it just doesn't. There's no storyline or proper flow, things just happen one after another. It's hardly even episodic, the things happening can change a few times each short chapter, from one thing to another, jumping around like a rabbit on drugs. There are no warnings or indications, one second we're at one place, the next we're at another and things happen all of a sudden. It's so haphazard and chaotic that I just can't feel anything about the story as a whole and as it isn't outrageously hilarious to make up for this even while firing one bad joke after another, it's just a boring and slightly frustrating experience overall as nothing connects properly, it's honestly a huge mess. Even when somewhat interesting plot developments happen which has the potential to be hilarious if explored properly, the author just proceeds to the next thing without even getting the previous one started properly.

Some other things that irk me are the fallacies when it comes to logic. I mean, I'm not really looking for logic in a gag novel, of course not. I'm perfectly able to accept that gods are ret*rds and everything is ridiculous, but some basic facts of life can't be changed. For example, a god, even if at the very bottom, would not be punched to the point of a nosebleed by a random human soul it summoned and certainly it wouldn't feel the threat of death because the normal human soul is being a bit uppity. That's just impossible. A cowardly god, sure, that's fine in this setting, a s*upid god is as well, but a god that is far above a mere human soul getting hit and actually taking damage and then being afraid for his life? There are limits to suspending disbelief, something that is clearly nothing than an impossiblity isn't funny. Now, replace said god with a normal cowardly human that pretends to be a god and we're talking. Contrary to common belief, something impossible isn't funny even in a gag novel.

Also, while this can be seen as a joke, a gag and nothing more, the author is a bit too happy on saying how good the japanese people are. The parts about how they wouldn't hurt a fly, are so peaceful, yes-men that are perfect s*aves would be fine but the author won't shut up about it and also compares it to other countries in a kinda snobby way that can't lead me to any other conclusion than that the author implies that pretty much every other country in the world are filled with trigger happy, confrontational as*holes that loves conflict and are pretty much savages with no ability to reason properly. It just feels that way while reading it, like the author claiming that if the same thing happened in america, they would sue the summoned people and accuse them of being illegal immigrants. I mean, I'm not American, but it still feels kinda offensive, like a truly bad joke. Even if the author is poking fun at the japanese for being the "perfect s*aves" with their mindsets and makes it out to all be a big joke, it's just not funny. Don't get me wrong, I'm very tolerant when it comes to nationalism and similar crap thanks to reading copious amounts of chinese novels which are usually way worse, but it still rubs me the wrong way, especially how he just can't shut up about singling out the japanese all the time. Geez.

Is it readable? Certainly. Is it good? No. While it's not offensively bad or anything that would make me simmer in anger, it's just something that I feel doesn't work at all. It's way too much of a mess, it's a chaotic, flaming ball of shit-level gags. I bet I would love it in a manga format where all the unnecessary text is flushed out and we're left with the bare minimum, which is just the gags. While the story is crap and it reads more like a 4-koma in novel format (which doesn't work at all), I can see it working in manga format where characters' expressions make it feel more real and connected, where everything happens so fast that you don't have to think about anything. This is a failure of a novel but I bet it would make one hell of a manga. Too bad the author didn't just cooperate with a manga artist and instead decided to just make it into a novel that doesn't work. <<less
