Yun An was a volunteer chosen among thousands by the space time research institute. Simply planning to record the true historical events of the military revolt in the year nine hundred and sixty, she signed the consent form, stepped into the time machine, but a peculiar thing happened during her travel through time, causing Yun An to be sent to an unknown place and time…

This dynasty was not recorded in earth’s history; perhaps Yun An had entered a parallel world.

This kingdom was known as the ‘Yan’ kingdom. It’s regime was similar to the middle period of the Ming dynasty. The economy was an unprecedented level of prosperity, and the men were regarded as superior to women.

The renowned Lin family of the Yan kingdom lived in luxury and extravagance. Their extreme wealth had already continued for three generations.

However, the famous Lin family faced an awkward problem at their third generation— the master of the family had no son.

Although the master of the Lin family had seven concubines, he had not gained a son for years. Master Lin eventually became too old to have any hope for a male heir.

The rise and fall of the Lin family now rests on the shoulders of master Lin’s only legitimate daughter: Lin Buxian.

The Lin family appeared to be powerful and untouchable, but it was actually surrounded with danger.

Their wealth was hankered after by powerful ministers and coveted by their relatives. Lin Buxian was a woman, but she had to step out often. Because of this, she was often denounced by the public. Eight merchants came to attend Lin Buxian’s twentieth birthday, but they heard the shocking news that her past childhood friend had already become the lucky son-in-law of a Minister, and he intended to take her as a concubine?

Lin Buxian made an announcement to the entire kingdom during her birthday banquet; the Lin estate is looking for a handsome son-in-law, to marry and live with the bride’s family.

I've read the other author's other works such as the majority of "Clear and Muddy Loss of Love" and about half of "Female General and Eldest Princess"...I haven't finished either because they're kind of... angsty lol. Both excellent works though for anyone who loves the feels.

Look, I'm old. Life is complicated enough, so I don't necessarily want to read stories with characters who have led lives that have been even more difficult than mine. lol. I enjoy this particular series because of Yun An. Even though she's been through some... more>> "non-traditional" experiences, but I love that she seems mostly normal. The choices that she makes once she starts to care about Lin Buxian and the human beings around her are understandable and ethically driven. As a researcher, I greatly appreciate the moral implications that the author crafted as part of the story.

I also love Lin Buxian. She's my favorite kind of ancient FL. She's intelligent, well-mannered, and shows restraint in her actions. These are all acted with the understanding that she's limited by patriarchy and misogyny, but she's not so rigid that she won't follow her instincts and intuition. I love her pairing with Yun An and how quickly they became friends and trusted one another. I very much look forward to reading more of this novel!

BTW, the translation is phenomenal, all props to melts! <<less

As expected of Melts, they never disappoint. I am extremely impressed by this story so far and the translation quality is no doubt top notch.

I've caught up to the furthest chapter (19) so far.

The MC Yun An has a great and likeable personality. Unlike many other novels, she doesn't use her advanced technology from earth to benefit herself and make her over powered. The only time she actually used them was to help feed herself and help poor children. From this we can see how true her character is because... more>> she truly does not want to cause a butterfly effect.

She herself takes on the identity of a male beggar, being forced by the time and her "role" there. I like how she stays true to her mission of gathering information and recording it with her eye while trying her best to stay low key and unassuming. Also, the fact that the MC isn't heartless and detached despite knowing she came from a place far more advanced in all ways showed her humility.

Overall, story so far is unique and well written and immersive. Things don't go perfectly well for the main character, so there's actually a realistic feeling. The writer definitely knew what they were writing about, as everything is well explained and the setting very believable.

The translator Melts is truly a hero. I've read many of their other translations and I'm never let down. Each chapter long and they don't cut it up into like 5 different updates. The speed of updates are really fast as well.

Ty melts for all your hard work & carrying the yuri fans. <<less

Even though this story isn't complete yet, I'm still giving it a 5/5 anyways. This author has never let me down since reading Female General Eldest Princess, Clear and Muddy Loss of Love, and Wandering Spirit Lady.

As for this particular story, the concept is really interesting and the MC and FL are both very likeable people. This also feels much fluffier (?) compared to her other works while retaining the same feel to it as an ancient China setting. I'm greatly looking forward to seeing the development of and between... more>> Lin Buxian and Yun An. <<less

I agree it's definitely a slow burn, but it is so worth the read.

We see the MC grow and actually develop throughout the chapters, it's really in-depth when it makes you feel the emotions of the time era. It may have taken a lot of chapters to finally get to the romance and even then it's still at the innocent stage, but it's well worth it because the plot is that good. We need it to take that long because there's so much story plot to get through.

This isn't just... more>> a yuri novel, it's an in-depth historical drama with the perfect level of yuri integrated into it.

I definitely recommend this as a 5/5

I'm always at the edge of my seat every time I read the next chapter. Such a great author, I'm definitely a fan. <<less

I like this novel so much, it's unbelievable. The story, the characters, the plot--everything! Lin Buxian is probably my most favorite FL of all time and Yun An is one my favorite MCs. Perhaps I may have been influenced by the story's description of Lin Buxian, but I honestly agree. She has the kind of beauty that jumps at me and scratches my heartstrings. She was not described as this great beauty that could "destroy cities" or "move mountains." She was pretty outside of course, but what is different with... more>> her is that she has that kind of beauty that is implicit. The way she talks, the way she moves, or thinks. It's what made her leagues above all others. She's cute and soft when she needs to be, yet firm, calm, careful, and unmoving when the situation warrants it. I'm so in love with her character. Of course, these two characters are not perfect. They have their flaws yet that's what makes this romance so moving. (YIXI!!!)

Another great historical romance from PDL. Seriously, this is phenomenal. Jay Chou's song--Blue and White Porcelain fits this story perfectly (I think it fits most historical drama though, but I'm probably biased) so I suggest you give it a listen! Look for the one with English lyrics if you don't know Chinese. The meaning of the song is so good.

The rating that this novel has is very much deserved! You will not regret reading this! A love that spans a thousand years! A time traveler x the only legitimate daughter of the wealthiest merchant family! It's not as smooth sailing as everyone thinks it will be. Dangers are everywhere and because of society's restrictions towards women, Lin Buxian could only do so much to control her fate with resolution and determination to protect her family and follow her duties as a legitimate daughter. In a twist of fate, Yun An comes into her life and vows to help this young lady survive her impending doom. Yun An can only hope that history will be kind to her wife.

Lastly, I like to thank Melts for the dedicated updates everyday! I appreciate the effort that was put into translating this. I wouldn't like this novel as much without Melt's phenomenal translation. It's simply superb. This has been the highlight of my day everyday! That's how good it is! <<less

i love pdl, but there is no reason for making this book so long, unless at the end everything is connected and has a reason to be this long (though I don't think it'll be like that). This part I am reading now is specially boring, i've been reading for a whole month and not even the nice narration can keep me interested. I started this book in january and it is taking me longer to finish it than other books with 300+ chapters because there's nothing happening, nothing to... more>> be excited about; not even the loveable characters (there aren't many btw) can make this more entertaining.

even though I am not enjoying it sinche chapter 200 or so, I will finish this book because it is the first book I am reading this year so I feel like I have to finish it yes or yes, but apparently it'll take me another month to read those 60 chapters or so I have left (i don't think I am going to read the extras). I just hope it gets better and not worse. <<less

I have read Female general and Clear and muddy loss already so I knew what I was going into.

The story is amazing and the caracters are just awesome.

It's really a heartwarming story and I prefer it to the two other stories.

... more>> The translation is exceptional so I always know I'm going to enjoy the novel.

However, again and again I just feel that in every one of the authors works, the ending is rushed. We only have one chapter where the family reunites and finnaly get to enjoy themselves.

Spoilers :

I also feel that there are a lot of illogical things in the story.

1st : Yun an and Lin Buxian want to get out of yan country to be able to be free and not be manipulated by power. But what happens when they finnaly do?? They become the royals of the new country. I understand that its to organise a new world order but still, it's a bit illogical.

2nd: That's just my personnal opinion but why did the space organisation try to eliminate Yun an when they new she was going to become important in the future?

3rldy: I find the fact about the story of earth and humans transforming into worms a bit too much. Like why go to this extreme? Just say that they perished with a virus, why worms like? Just so weird.

And like Always, there are loads of unfinished stories like how did the princess really die? Did she really just choq? How did shifu die? What was yu xianxian's story? Why was there a monster in the time travel tunnel? Why did yun an arrive in Lin Buxian's world and not earth? Who are the space organisation ? (cause I didnt really understand that part), why was there an explosion when yun an went back to the time travel location? What happened to the foreigners in the yan kingdom etc etc...

and finnaly, there are things that I would have liked to see like more romance between the 2 MC, more extra chapters where Yun an developes her relationship whith her kids (and not just 1 chapter), and just an ending where the author instead of explaining the politics of the new Island writes a more romantic ending cause the plot of the novel is based on a romantic history.

And I think the island that they arrived to is indeed Taiwan if the Yan kingdom was china.

That's it for me, still happy that I read the story cause it's really entertaining haha ❤️ <<less

I started reading for the yuri and got so much more. With 301 chapters I would have loved some more 'fluffy' yuri romance, but the story that unfolded was far superior to my expectations. The characters were very much products of their environment and time. Unlike many transmigration/time travel stories RUZHUI didn't give off unneeded anachronism. Instead it showed meaningful character development. The MC humbling herself and taking the 'ancient' time's customs seriously, the FL being able to open her mind and accept progressiveness, and even the supporting characters being... more>> portrayed as believable as they were are a few examples of why I was so immersed and enamored with this novel.

Melts definitely shows itself as a top tier translation group and has played a major role in my positive experience with RUZHUI. I can safely list this novel in my top 3 and wish the author all the best as she produces amazing work despite the vicissitudes of her life. <<less

The story is pretty interesting so far and I fell in love with our MC Yun An xD. It's very engaging and funny to read about her being excited over little things in the ancient times. And also how she comments on things to let the "watchers" know how things worked in the past.

lmao MC is such a HIMBO I love her xD

An absolute disappointment. I loved the authors other two novels, so I was excited for this one. The translation is excellent and I can tell a lot of research went into it. In addition, the plot was set up quite well. However, I lost all interest after MC was implicated in a mu*der case. The person who was later mu*dered said so many nasty things about her wife, things that are crippling to a woman in that era, which the author pretty much built the whole story one, and the... more>> MC still felt guilty about her actions of only beating him up? Seriously? Afterwards, she even wants to compensate the man’s family for a freaking decade? She didn’t even kill the man. Did she only remember her guilt and not how he slandered his wife? She keeps going on about how she wants to repay her wife for everything she’s done for the MC but she’s absolutely pathetic. <<less

Despite having gone through rigorous screening and training, the protagonist sure is naive and dumb, like to a surprising degree. I can tell it's supposed to be one of her cute le funny quirks but it's a bit over the top, to the point it actively goes against what was established about her and the whole time-traveling project at the start of the novel. For such a well-crafted plot, I just wish she weren't so frustratingly idiotic. Almost every point of conflict and tension stems from the protagonist's carelessness, which... more>> is actually more like willful ignorance, though, we're supposed to feel bad for her totally not predictable misfortunes. The novel is good and that small inconsistency isn't really a deal-breaker (might even be an intentional plot device to bamboozle the audience for all I know), still I'm not sure if I'd trust the rating and the reviews. Definitely wouldn't say it's a 5/5 stars novel imo. <<less

It's a good novel in terms of not having plot holes, only controversial moments that make you wonder why the heck she'd fall for that if she's pretty much Earth's number 1 candidate to spearhead humanity's immortality project. At most I'd rate this 3.9 cause I don't want to give it a 4 but 3 is too low.

I guess it's kinda too stable for my disposition.

My ratings lately depend on my emotions so I'll just comment the translation is good and the writing is consistent so try it if you... more>> have time.

The female lead Lin something is the best part of this novel imo, she's a deep thinker, courteous, actually has a reason to be a kind person because they're merchants and need as much luck and good will as possible. That's one of the only reasons I'll ever accept to be a kind person.

The main character is life like and quite frankly she's the only reason I feel like dropping this. She went to the past with a sole goal of research but is currently on some holier than thou attitude in a past world which low key pisses me off. I understand that our society is way more developed than a past one but I don't like how you of all people that should be hidden in a corner affecting the world as little as possible are out here busy pointing at people's faces and denouncing common sense.

Look if she did this with unimportant people I'd only be disgusted by her attitude but why the heck are you doing this with rich influential people, who's the most likely person to be relevant in history? So what will happen to the future? Quite frankly I think in history the Lin family was probably destroyed.

It also makes me confused when the MC say Lin buxian would be influential if she lived in the future as though Lin buxian doesn't own a freaking gargantuan business, like wtf?

See I've seen the reveiws, I know she probably grows but honestly I kinda doubt that. Even if she did, see the part I hate about stuff that get better is if I don't like it right now what makes you think I'd make it that far?

It's a good novel, obviously not my cup of tea cause I don't like chiding characters but give it a try. It's a novel I'd definitely say the only time it's bad is if it wasn't your cup of tea. <<less

This is amazing. The story has depth, the characters have such strong voices of their own that are all distinct from each other. I like how they are all driven by the beliefs of their time, status and circumstances.

also feminism, yet contemplations of whether it is right to introduce the concept of gender equality in a setting where no one else of that time can emphasise.

MC is not cheaty at all. There are hidden plots that I still don’t understand and the world building is very good.

more of a focused... more>> type of novel, which looks at their situation, the relationships between main couple and the MC is very self controlled - doesn’t use modern knowledge to conquer world (so far) and also a very reasonable nice sincere person. Although MC isn’t super smart, just clever enough (well pretty smart actually). I like how the love interest seems even smarter, albeit limited by the time there, she is open minded and is well developed as a character. <<less

I'm new to reading web novels but this one is really lovely. The technology and sci-fi used for the set-up doesn't make much sense but it isn't really relevant to the appeal of the story. The author does a great job of showing the two women changing and learning how to be stronger people from each other. I really like their dynamic and the translations are great! It's a political conflict and slow burn/daily life focused story.

This is soooo good! The lead characters are so likeable. And the knowledge that the author researched to put this together is really commendable. Like when Yun An gives her thoughts it's not just stuff made up. The translation is perfect Im so happy I got to read this.

I'm so glad that melts is posting daily!

And just a theory on xianxian..

Is Xianxian actually her real ex gone back in time to bring her back?. It would explain her seeking Yun An even after being taking in by her friend who genuinely liked her. As well as rejecting that guy's proposal and arguing with him using the same feministic thoughts that Yu An used when she scolded her friend for not apologizing to Lin Buxian. Her level of intellect exceeded the other consorts. She deliberately showed her face to Yun An despite this being a big taboo in their culture. If this were the case I'm excited for the drama. But Xianxian most likely accepted the reality that she lost her ex for good.. Just my thoughts. <<less
