Don't believe the bad reviews. Those are from people who do not like xianxia in the first place. If Martial God Asura is popular and it is still going on after almost 5000 chapters is because IT IS VERY GOOD. The universe, the story, the characters, the humor, the adventures, the fightings.. All is very well made and entertaining.

The Author, Kindhearted Bee, is not a peerless genius like Er Gen, so you won't find the depth and mysticism you would find in Er Gen novels. He is... more>> not a simbolist, so you won't find the poetical meanings that you would find in Mao Ni novels. Nor he is a smart geek like I Eat Tomatoes, so you would not find the rich and detailed exploration of cultivation methods and realms, like in The Desolate Era. He is also not a very romantic fellow, so while there are a lot of beauties falling for the MC in his novels, their love stories are far simpler and colder compared to those of Heavenly Silkworm Potato.

Yet, the story is always intriguing, the characters are always fascinating, and even at chapter 4920 I'm still eager to read the next one. I'm still hooked to MGA, and I hope it would never end.

If you love the xianxia genre, you cannot miss MGA. <<less

Martial God Asura, or MGA, is such a masterpiece of a novel.
Reading 10 chapters of this will give you more emotion than reading 100 chapters of LOTM. In fact, Chu Feng is so competent and extremely cunning that it made me think Fang Yuan is a ret*rd.

Also, the harem and romance, honestly, as much as I love ATG, Yun Che is just an inferior Chu Feng (no hate ATG fans).
Let's also talk about the groundbreaking plot. If you love beasts and powerful things, then read this. The MC... more>> is a beast, literally and metaphorically. In the first chapters, he discovered there was an egg inside his body, you might be thinking some furry animal made him pregnant, but no, far from it.
I won't discuss it but, he's a beast, literally. He's so handsome and domineering that it made all females in existence wet and have thoughts of him dominating them.
Definitely a novel not get talked around a lot, will recommend 11/10. It's better to read MTL btw, so you won't feel s*upid if you can't understand how "grand" and "great" a character Chu Feng is. <<less

Honestly it isn't as bad as I thought it'd be (At first). It was pretty funny and I saw a lot of potential. It reminded me of "Daily life of immortal king" almost.. The villains weren't killed but befriended and even added a comedic element to the story. It didn't feel like the cliche xianxia-kills novels.

1 reason. Just 1 reason is enough for you to hate this Novel.

Spoiler

Chu Yue betrays Chu Feng *Triggers*

I don't blame you for flipping the table. Yes, this loyal girl over 1k chapters, perhaps even the most loyal character since the beginning of the story betrays the MC... It doesn't even make sense. Completely out of character for Chu Yue and nonsensical..!

All I can say is why Chu Yue is in a higher upper realm when her cultivation/potential wasn't that big to begin with? It's like bringing a noob to a higher plane. Heck, because of this even his wives where kidnapped and possessed for over 3 years! All they do is start trouble for him.. and more drama

[collapse]

Clearly the Author is just writing this out of his ass lol. Just adding drama and making up things on the spot to make it more interesting. Looking at it from a bigger perspective. You can tell how easily childish MC is and even the characters themselves.. It's just lazy writing.

I didn't mind the r*pe scenes at first but the fact the MC tries to find a reason to justify his mol*station makes me disgusted. It is fine to r*pe them as long as they are a enemy. Seeing no wrong in the behavior itself. Things have to go his way

Honestly there's more on what I want to say however the reviews already mentioned it. If I can say something it's, the Harem is f*cked up. It is fine as long as the girl is beautiful!
Spoiler

Yeah so we're just going to ignore the Zi Ling mass mu*dered a lot of people and see their lives as grass just to gain her own benefit? The mortal girl MC defended probably died. And his 4th fiance, why bother giving her a chance? She doesn't deserve jack sh*t since she ridiculed his engagement in public and looked down on him. So why keep mentioning her?

Oh my god, this is the worst novel i've read, here is why:

    • First, the conviniencies are a lot
      Spoiler

An example is when in the first chapters Su Rou say that this year the rewards are going to be better and the author doesn't give a damn about why. I will tell you why, because the MC needs to get a lot of rewards
      -.-

      [collapse]
    • The cultivation system is crap, the MC level up with a lot of resources, that's it...
    • There is no development in any of the characters. The "brothers" of the MC, all of them have the same personality, the girls of the harem had at least a bit of personality but when they joined the harem they lost it all, and all of them are now the same unidimensional characters.
    • The characters take s*upid decisions all the time, I mean the MC don't even think about the consequencies of what he is going to do and how to deal with them.
      Spoiler

In the first chapters he kills a minor group of people and the one who was in charge has a powerful elder behind so it kidnaps the MC, and then he fuc*ing gets saved because of plot armor

      [collapse]
    • The MC is 99% of the times saved by someone else, sometimes it is justified and sometimes not, but it doesn't matter because it tires that he never deals with that problems by himself (i mean he can use his brain one fricking time).
    • The battles are sh*t, most times it depends of your level of power, and skills (which are only like skill *insert name* level 6, that it's a lot more powerful than level 5, no sh*t sherlock).
    • In the East Region arc the progress of the MC leveling up gets f*ck*ng annoying, it needs like a trillion resources to level up 1 time, at least in the first arcs this was in a better pacing, now it only gets annoying.
    • The filler, oh my god, this is the worst part, we need to read about a lot of side characters battling that we don't care, I mean if the battles were 2 pharagraphs I wouldn't get tired but they last for 5 chapters or so and they aren't even using strategies, they only show off they s*upid abilities one after another, they even never starts the battles attacking with all they have at the beginning. And we also need to read about s*upid people reactions 50% of the chapter.
    • The villains are all the same unidimensional characters.
I need to say that people in the reviews complain about the r*pes that the MC does, but I think that was justified, the girls did things that were worst than that to the MC. People tend to think that r*pe is the worst thing in the world, but killing is just as bad as r*pe and a lot of people don't even complain about that. The world where the MC lives is a hard one and taking in account the context, people of that world view killing and r*pe as common things (i don't mean is okay by saying that is common). So what I'm trying to say by explaining all of this, is that THIS IS NOT THE PROBLEM OF THIS SH*TTY NOVEL.

Overall 1/10, don't read it if you don't want to waste your time.

This is one of the first few webnovels that got me into reading this particular genre which is to say, this WAS my regular favorite until it went extremely downhill.

Not because of the repetitive plot, nor the casual shove of previous key side characters, not even for the constant idiocy of opponents.

It is the unending circulation of useless chapters just to milk this novel. Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty common trait within other chinese webnovels, but this one has brought 'chapter milking' to an unparalleled art form.... more>> Forget the plot, it's non-existent anymore. It's just a jungle of irrelevant events to continuously extend this never ending novel.

TLDR: This level of shamelessness is currently unrivaled amongst its peers. <<less

If you wanna read about the MC fighting irrelevant bugs he could just kill in a second for 6 chapters or so then read this novel. The author over explains unnecessary things. I think the author could write in detail about the MC having a meal for 1 or 2 chapters, like this wouldn't be too different from what he does now.

The MC needs to get strong fast so he can save his family. And the thing is he CAN get strong fast, but he chooses not to. As of... more>> the latest chapters he wouldn't kill a fly even if that made him stronger. People would offer him something he needs, he deserved it, he probably earned it, the guys could insist for days for him to take it but no, of course he wouldn't take it, that would be the worse thing in the world, after all, he would get strong that way and we don't want that, do we, author? It's really frustrating. I was hoping he'd go back to how he was at first but I gave it a few hundred chapters and nothing. One specific case I remember of him being goody two shoes idiot:
Spoiler

He returned to where it all started, he had friends and everything there. He obviously was stronger than everyone there. They specifically ask him how strong he his. And being the humble idiot that he is of course he wouldn't tell them. Being a show off is a sin. Lying is better, what could possibly go wrong anyways? Well, they had trouble with certain bad guys, but since the guy said he's as weak as them then they can't possibly ask for his help and put him in danger, so they don't, and almost got killed. All because the guy's an insufferable saint that won't do anything Buddha wouldn't do.

[collapse]

So basically, for what I remember, only first 1k chapters or so were good, then you can clearly see how the author just wants to make this novel as long as possible. And the MC just turned into the most exasperating guy in existence. I was rooting for him to die or something. I'm still mad that I wasted so much time in this novel. <<less

I will borrow someone else's line to describe this novel. "In MGA villain's are on drugs, Side characters are on drugs, MC is on drugs, everybody is on drugs". I repeat this line is completely accurate.

Author will go out of his way to make villain's evil, you can expect 90% characters in this novel are psychopaths.
Spoiler

MC arrives at a sect. Where sect is divided into parts on basis of living conditions, quality etc. Part with the bottom ranking only have cripples. Why? Because disciples from upper ranking part come and cut-off their arms, pluck their eyes for fun. If these cripples use their cultivation to heal themselves, they will suffer worse torture from upper disciples. These are full grow men (Psychopaths) plucking out eyes of little kids (10-11 year old's) for fun. Elder in charge of bottom ranking part does nothing. Why? He says these cripples don't have self respect. According to elder they should heal their limbs and wait for more torture. They don't get enough resources, cultivation technique's. Well Adults are fine But What do you expect from children??

[collapse]
This novel is overflowing with characters like this. Villain's are villain (simply psychopaths) for the sake of being villain.

I'll list another character.
Spoiler

A female character was looking for a little girl who is special and have mysterious origins but MC saves the little girl and gets himself caught by the female character. This female character goes on to torture MC using variety of ways all the while mentioning that she will do the same thing to the little girl. Why does she wanna do that? What enmity does she have the girl? None, she simply wants to dissect the little girl for experimentation (she ain't a frog) because little girl is special. MC frees himself and later on somebody else's suggestion r*pes this female character because he hates her and wanted to destroy her pride. I hate r*pe. But what happens next will show you what I meant by MC is on drugs. Later on female character's grandpa helps MC because female character was taken hostage by MC's team. Due to this MC starts feeling guilty for female character. Why is he feeling guilty? She is a psychopath and you are a rapist MC!! Every girl he had s*x with all started as r*pes (every single one). He even decides if she wants he will marry her. Why? What help did she provide you? What redeeming act did she do so you feel guilty? She is still a psychopath and you are still a rapist.

[collapse]

Ok last one
Spoiler

A group of clans want to kill MC because his bloodline is better than their's. They post wanted posters's. Try to assassinate him again and again. Lastly the kidnap the entire school MC is a part of and threaten to kill them off if MC doesn't surrender. After a brutal battle a powerful person comes and forces MC and clans to make peace. MC accepts and author explains MC is not a narrow minded person. Later on another group of sects are forced or hired by someone to attack and destroy MC's school. This group didn't try to assassinate MC, didn't Post wanted poster's, didn't kidnap anyone. He only had a single battle with them. Another powerful person comes and forces MC and group to make peace. But this time he decides that he will exterminate them in future. Why? They simply didn't create enough enmity with MC that they should be eliminated while the previous group crossed all lines and he still let them off. As I said he sometimes forgives people who have tried to kill him multiple times (author says he is not a narrow minded person) but goes all out to kill someone who he doesn't have enough enmity with.

[collapse]
As I said he is on drugs.

Author had many things at his disposal (decent cultivation system, world building) but he simply failed to utilize them and create a good novel. Sometimes it feels like he is going with the flow. Personalities of characters will change after every few chapters. I gave it repeated chances and somehow suffered till 2148 mostly because I didn't have anything to read at the time and wanted to know about MC's past. But when truth about MC's history is revealed I was fed up with this story and dropped it.

Another WN with decent ideas but poorly put together. Incidents happen just for the sake of having the MC save damsels in distress right in the nick of time... several times. Important events only happen as the MC is passing through and are often written in a way that disrupts the flow of the story. Characters are inconsistent and become one way or another without good reason. Villains are evil for the sake of being evil. Pretty much everyone outside the MC's circle are evil and s*upid. Author tries to... more>> portray MC as a hardass tyrant who would cripple anyone for even saying the wrong thing in front of him, and sometimes end their lives however, randomly, the MC would reward people who cheat and look down on him just to show off to a crowd of strangers... then explain multiple times throughout the story how the MC doesn't care what other people think and will have his way while killing those who obstruct him. MC is basically bipolar where his standards for killing and rewarding change depending on the chapter. Gotta check your brain at the door to enjoy this one. It's bad... but there is s*x... r*pe too if you're into that sort of thing. <<less

I can only give this Novel a 2/5 because the beginning was decent, what followed was a repeated hypocritical cycle of bullying, raping and killing everyone. I dislike the MC because of his double standards: E.g.: 1. He kills millions of people in a clan just because of the actions of 1-2 individuals belonging to said clan. He bullies others like there is no tomorrow, but when he gets bullied he goes full psycho and is close to mu*der his whole family. The MC is a psycho (he wasnt that... more>> bad at the beginning), who goes somewhere, finds something, meets a girl, someone bullies him and he kills them -> cycle repeat. I stopped after chapter 450, it was getting nowhere. <<less

MC cultivates to an ENTIRE realm within a YEAR yet somehow his woman still surpassed him? If it was so easy to raise geniuses why the fk would nobody do that? Author is way to desperate to keep the woman by his side what is kinda discouraging cause they just keep getting stronger then him all the time since chapter 800.

It has some kind of liiiiiittle story and an ok world, well, not even really ok. Some bit of deeper meaning here and there and...... thats it. Yes, thats it, really. This bit of interesting things is kind of hard to find in these thousands of chapters. There are what? Around 13 cultivation level? More to be expected? And each goes from rank 1 to 9? Or was it 10? Well, who cares.

If one is for example only an Exalted rank 6, you have no chance of winning against an... more>> Exalted rank 7. Its only about power, not about wits, ganging up on someone or just beeing better at using power, no. Being better on using power only helps if you fight against someone on the same rank, but not a higher one. No, wait, if you have some bullsh*t artefact/armament/whatever, you can beat someone of higher rank. But that is only because you have more bullsh*t luck on every goddamn cultivation level. The artefact/armament/whatever is just of higher rank than you oppenent. Yes, sure, you have to be close to death every time you use something like that, but you dont die. So nothing to fear there, really. You are safe. Ah, I mean the MC. Not someone else of course, haha. You are just an idiot who searches for these fragments of interesting things happening. You will never have that MC luck, haha, no no no no. Never. Really.

So.... Yes.... I am one of these idiots. The only tipps I can give you, just read these sentences with " ", you know? Because only there happens the plot most of the time. Well, that is, if there is any. Around 70% are still bullsh*t or the copy and paste kind of thing if a villain or the crowd or new chars speaks. What would maybe take around up to 10 minutes for a chapter, for the slow readers, you can narrow it down to max 1 minute. And that is worth it, really. Because there are way better LNs out there. Dont waste your time for these fragments. Or just read a fantasy book, not a LN, you know? Because there you will learn again, how story can progress and repeat itself again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again. Really really.

Yes, if you are new to chinese LNs, its new, its interesting, its an other world, but trust me. MGA is so 0815 poor standard and nothing, really absolutely nothing more than that. Never. Ever. I can only repeat me here: There are wwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better novels out there than this. Or fantasy books. Dont waste your time with this shit. Because that is what it is. Shit. Well, it has some leftover grains here and there, but it is still sh*t in the end. If you see some grains in your sh*t you will never give it another name, do you? No. There you go. It is just sh*t as well.

Thouse who give 3 stars and up are just these readers for which MGA is one of their first chinese novels, or havent returned here after getting to know what little it in the end really has to offer. So, if they would write a review again, it would be 2 stars at best. And that would only be because of nostalgy, as here with me. So, I lied. It is only 1 star. Not 2 stars. <<less

The translation was very good, but the novel isn't.

make 500 chapters of somewhat decent story

copy paste it by 7 times so you have 3500+ chapters, make some changes too, like the characters name

the MC, was pretty fun to read at first, but he lives too long, now he grows into the thing he hates the most, "the xianxia template villain". His actions weren't that far from that, but hey, he was Ashura, yeah? So it's okay even if he has god awful morality.. But what we call xianxia template villain... more>> wasn't the ruthlessness that came with it, rather the low IQ that the character has, MC was so hotblooded that you can feel the screen heating up from his action, he's like a shounen MC given a power to kill, and he made so many 200IQ decision over the course of his life. <<less

I judge how bad a wuxia is by how fast I drop it. So I only last until chapter 157, mid-chapter, that's how bad this was. I believe the line that makes me stop is:

"If he was told to kill an extremely heinous person, Chu Feng would not be merciful in any way. However, if he was told to kill a person that had no enmity with him, and who was even such a beautiful young female, he really could not do it."

Just for a context, this "beautiful young female"... more>> just recently arrange the destruction of a cultivator family where at least half of them was slain. And also MC in the past has exterminated a whole cultivator family (three actually) because of the deeds of some of the member, so yeah I don't think he has any problem killing somebody "that had no enmity with him".

Yes, I know I should allow for some "artistic license", especially for fictions targeted at teens. But if you're gonna pull some BS moral/logic hypocrisy specifically to have a new love interest (more like s*x interest), you cannot expect me not to lose my shit. I'm done. <<less

At first, I kinda enjoyed this novel, the same way I enjoyed Against the gods, it's poorly written but still interessing. The MC was ruthless enough, the universe was alright and the background of the MC quite interessing. But basically everything goes to sh*t very soon, and here's why :

1- I couldn't even call that plot holes, it's more like there is some plot into a huge hole. The author constantly have brain fart, can't even remember what he wrote in the last chapter, resulting in saying one thing in... more>> one chapter and the inverse in the next, sometimes it's in the same chapters.

2- Words count. You can see how desesperate the author is to hit his 3000 characters per chapters, he will either state obvious things such as the legendary "The mysterious techniques are called mysterious techniques because they are mysterious and they are techniques", or he will repeat 50000000 the same thing in case we didn't remember the first 49999999 times. And of course, the classic crowd reaction that nobody gives a sh*t about, martial god asura take that to the next level. There is currently 3321 chapters translated and I can assure you that it could be compressed to 1000 chapters without misssing anything, you mostly can ignore 70% of the chapters and still be completely fine.

3- Repetitive, sure xianxia are often like this but martial god asura once again take it to the next level, the formula doesn't change for one bit.

4- At first the MC was ruthless, honnestly that was the selling point for me. Sadly the more we go on, the more the MC become a major p**sy.

5- Useless side characters, there is his friends that tries to catch up to him, that got whole chapters for them but in the end they NEVER do shit, it's absolutely ridiculous, the only thing they are good at is finishing as hostage.

6- Plot armor. At this point it's not an armor it's a f*cking tank built with the strongest materials in this universe, it's at a point where the MC seems like he know he has plot armor and do s*upid shit.

7- If a guy sneeze at the MC, he'll want to exterminate his bloodline, but if it has a v*gina, the said v*gina (because that's all what the woman are all about in this novel) can try to mu*der the MC countless times, the only thing the MC will do is apologize for s*upid reasons.

I'm done with this review, I can assure you that those bad points are just the tip of the iceberg, the only reason i've got to this point is that I have way too much free time and that I could binge read it and therefore skip 70% of the chapters without missing anything, but now that i've catched up, I'm just droping this steaming pile of shit, if anything, now I can read anything and think "it's still better than martial god asura" <<less

Man is this bad, like next level bad.

Original premise is weak MC trying to get stronger etc. However after just a few chapters MC is already stronger than his current enemies and it gets only worse later on. What follows is repetitive

  1. MC angers someone or the other way around
  2. fight to the death
  3. if enemy is weaker => MC kills his enemy / if enemy is stronger => someone protects MC for now and it is repeated until MC kills his enemy;
this sums up practically entire novel (unless enemy is woman, because... more>> they never get killed for some reason). In between are little episodes with no real impact on anything or instances without any followup. No character has any personality, they are either enemy or ally (often with 180° turns without any reason), MC is supposed to be intelligent, but his reasoning often lacks any logic or cohesion. There is supposedly romance, but as far as 1245 chapters go, there isn't any - female characters are suddenly in love with MC, after witch they all become the same. The "flirting" that MC does is probably the most cringeworthy part of entire novel.

I wouldn't really mind reading about MC who r*pes someone, but it needs to fit the story and context. So far there have been 4 instances of r*pe

  1. first r*pe serves to provide MC with love interest, there wasn't any romantic interest before, but voila (hentai logic)
  2. second r*pe is something like revenge I suppose?
  3. third and four are are probably torture, because it is obviously fate far worse than death (although MC swears that he won't do it again after the second one).
All in all, I'd give it one and a half (for a few good chapters here and there), rounded to one star. Don't read it, it isn't worth your time.

Kudos to translators, the deserve 5/5 a pity they waste their talent on this thing. <<less

Another novel that petered out and withered towards death slowly, but never died.

I read the beginning of this novel. The world building was great. The MC was ruthless enough to keep interest and lawful enough to stand behind, though decidedly not a good person despite being called one. The girls were good, the romance was alright, though the r*pe was bad. The MC grew and progressed, and you could see the difference as he grew stronger. The antagonists were fairly generic, but they all had their motives and were discernible... more>> from each other. It would have been a solid 8 out of 10 at the beginning due to freshness.

Then everything went downhill. The world building went to absolute shit, wherein you have no sense of the world or anything in it, and even the places the MC visits get the most bare description possible, to the point where it is hard to even grasp it with my overactive imagination. Anything the MC doesn't visit is at most a name on the otherwise blank map, with no details given.

The MC got more and more hypocritical, sparing girls for straight up conspiracy to mu*der his friends, and crippling and torturing guys for harassing girls he's just met. He does things like sparing a sect out of "mercy", and then later destroying every member of another sect down to the last child. He starts making "friends" with random people, and by that I mean they literally come up to each other, fight each other once, and decide they are friends instantly despite having nothing in common and having no reason to even talk to each other.

The MC ditched his harem, which is not necessarily bad... except for the fact that he ditched every single side character alongside that. Then he got new side characters. And promptly ditched them. And then new ones. And ditched them. So on. They introduced a bunch of girls, playing like it was still a harem, but suddenly the MC, who previously would marry anyone who struck his fancy, suddenly is a celibate man with no interest in s*x, and becomes like a wishy washy japanese anime rom-com protagonist who can't commit to anything, and leaves them behind upon leaving the world.

The cultivation went from being graspable leaps in power, to silly numbers. Sure, he can be incredibly power and able to destroy vast swathes of land with a single blow... but from there you're just upping the damage, and it's not really noticeable. When two people fight, they are almost always on a similar level, so it feels the same as it did 10 cultivation tiers ago. Moreover, they start throwing around silly terms, and at one point even claim that the average cultivator has a battle power able to surpass two whole levels of cultivation. At which point you wonder why they don't just up everyone by two levels. With so much cultivation surpassing, you start to wonder why you even bother with a numbering system. And the attacks are just generic, so it feels like watching a Pokemon Go battle.

The antagonists went from just being fairly cookie cutter to being factory produced and stale. Every single one is either an arrogant Young Master of some major clan they just introduced, or they are the elder of that major clan taking vengeance for their Young Master after he picked a fight for no reason. And then once that elder is beat, some other Young Master shows up out of nowhere and picks a fight for no reason. Even after he's known as extremely powerful, people keep randomly picking fights.

By the point at which I dropped it, it was a 4/10. Generic, boring, and uninteresting. I recommend you drop it as soon as he leaves his home plane. <<less

The first 200 chapters are quite different from the rest of the story. The MC is still coming into his own so he makes an enemy out of every single person and pays back any humiliation with death of entire families and organizations no matter if they're innocent or not. Eventually he learns to stop being such a reckless and ruthless loner and actually starts making friends and thinking before he kills someone. Overall as the story progresses, the MC becomes milder and milder, so stick it out to about... more>> chapter 400 to really get a feel for the story.

The main problem this novel suffers from is predictable repetition. The author uses a couple of scenarios and he replays them over and over and over again. The universe is separated into different level worlds that can't interact with each other so the MC ends up following the same pattern in each world as he progresses. The enemies also all share the same spoiled brat temperament regardless of their age. The enemies just don't like him because they're jealous or because some girl likes the MC instead of them. The actual complex and interesting plot enemies are far between.

The leveling system is incredibly strict in this novel so if the MC ever encounters an enemy that is stronger than him, he will almost certainly be saved by someone stronger as there is no way to win a fight with your wits. People that differ by 2 or 3 levels simply do not fight each other as the outcome is predetermined by level. The MC only gets targeted because he has much lower level but surpasses his fighting ability using various treasures or attack skills that he acquired through chance encounters. The author combats this by always presenting the MC with enemies that are at his level or friends that can handle the higher level enemies.

Regarding the romance, the main character actually works to capture the heart of only a couple of girls. After establishing those few key love interests, the MC disregards all future females as love interests. He's still very friendly and familiar with a ton of girls, but it never progresses to anything even close to romance. Most of the problem stems from the MC leveling up too quickly compared to most other characters so he will always meet a new girl with whom he interacts for a few hundred chapters before parting and meeting someone else stronger.

There are a few instances of r*pe but in one case it's due to a drug and in another case he's just aiming to cause as much torture as he can to his enemies. Considering the MC skins people alive and dices them up into a hundred pieces in some cases, r*pe is not even in the top 10 list of terrible things he's done. Even then, the MC learns the consequences of his actions so I wouldn't rule the novel out because of this.

Overall the novel is like walking on a treadmill. The level of the MC rises and the worlds change but all it does is change the names of organizations, people, attacks, and equipment. Somewhere around chapter 1000-1500 the battles all started to devolve into energy blasts and who has the better energy blast. Whether it's a dragon or a lion or lightning, it's all pretty much the same. The author just can't raise the level anymore than he already did. The creativity falls off after that and fights become boring. There's some neat ideas with the magic spirit power that the characters have but those are usually limited to the typical sealing, unsealing, summoning, illusions, and healing. Rising in levels just means he can cure tougher illnesses, regardless he will almost always be able to cure it.

One thing I can say is there are no plot holes. Any questions that are raised in one world are all answered one by one as the MC explores the world, wrapping up everything before leaving. The pacing is pretty decent as well. The MC makes pretty steady progress gaining just enough power to beat his current enemies or take on a new challenge while avoiding the enemies he can't handle.

I would recommend reading up to the end of volume 5 (chapter 2148). After that the story just becomes too repetitive. <<less

Followed this until around 1k chapters or so. It's been a while and was long before I started actively using NU.

reason I'm rating it so high is because I enjoyed it when I was reading. Eventually I dropped it because at some point I completely lost any and all interest in this type of MC. Chu Feng is the stereotypical ruthless cultivation MC a la PMG and ATG. The guy kinda guy that will slaughter an entire sect because one of their new recruits looked at him the wrong way.... more>> The kinda guy that goes out of his way to offend as many strong people as possible so he can show off is supposed intellect when he shuts them up with his "genius" reasoning. Chu Fengs supposed intellect naturally suffers from the same inherent problem many alleged geniuses suffer from in these kinds novels. They can't possibly be smarter than the author.

naturally every arc ends up with Chu Feng offending someone new one way or another. Be it because the bad guy he just killed was the diciple of some dude or because someone is angry at him for existing. Every antagonist is your bog standard, completely and utterly irrational young/old master. The kind that will try to kill you for just being there and then be shocked and threaten to kill you for retaliating. Of course, if you don't obediently let them kill you off, their grandfather who is naturally Elder in some obscure sect that happens to be strongest sect in the world, even though you could have sworn th guy offended in the same irrational manner last times grandfather was an elder in the strongest sect on the world.

If you are really interested, read one or two arcs. You don't need more. The rest is just copy paste of what you've already read.. <<less
