Zhen Ting Yun was the original protagonist of this transmigration novel. But her current sole purpose was to set off the now female lead’s beauty and talent.

The female lead was her eldest sister. At three, she was capable of composing poetry. At five, she excelled in painting. She was known as the Pearl of the Imperial City.

**

Zhen Ting Yun: I’m familiar with the plot and shall take advantage of this knowledge. Being capable of reciting Tang and Song poems, she was able to kick her younger sister to the countryside as soon as she transmigrated into the book… Cannot afford to offend, must not offend… It might be better to rely on one’s looks to secure a man and leave this troubled nest so as to not accidentally become a cannon fodder again.

As for who to marry? The old man she picked up from the side of the road is rather handsome and also has a good figure…

**

Ministers: The prince regent looks troubled recently. He must be mulling over state affairs. This minister is not talented but is willing to help shoulder your highness’ worries!

Prince Regent: The princess consort has been living in school for the past few days. Without this prince helping her with her homework, she’ll definitely have to burn the midnight oil… Will not be able to grow tall if one sleeps late!

Ministers: …

The writing is good, love the book, but unfortunately the author tends to blabber on insignificant side characters and stuffs (histories, books, etc.) and repeats the old narratives, like the old Madam Zhen and Mother Pei backstory too much that if you cut it off might reduce the pages a lot. 😅

edited: the ending is too rushed, after soo many wasted paragraphs dilly dallying blabbering really made me want to slam the book. Now I can see why the rating so low. 🥵

I don't even know what to say about this book 🤦‍♀️. The author actually had the opportunity and set up to make this a standout but alas this is the world of web novels. The story started actually started off good, we start with the the FL and ML and that part was really interesting, her dynamic with her grandmother was also cute. And based on just this alone I was excited for future development because we have solid characters and it will be easy to build up on that,... more>> but everything just took a nose dive afterwards. If I was to rate the authors writing at the beginning I'd probably give her a B but for everything after arriving at the imperial capital I would give her a D. She went from writing a solid story to just a copy and paste of every other historical novel.

So here is where I think the novel could have genuinely been a standout. Fl's sister is a transmigrator so she isn't even the fls actual sister. The real sister also actually existed in the first life so it wasn't until the second life the transmigrator comes in. I feel like if the author had explored the effect transmigration/transmigrators had on the family of the original owner (they were even a happy family) it would have definitely made this different from other books in this genre. And I don't know if it is just me, but if I found out my og sister who has no beef with me was replaced with some random stranger who is out to get me, I would definitely have some certain emotions. To top it off the transmigrator wasn't even smart, she was acting like a ten year old which is just hard to believe, considering she was a modern woman in atleast her 20s and then reincarnated as a child, so conclusively she should have the emotional maturity of someone in her 30s. Then in general I felt the author tried creating 3 dimensional characters in the sense that they try telling us their motivations and side of the story but at the same time, it is very obvious which characters we are supposed to hate (having villians for the sake of it even if they don't have any motivations). This just made the characterization fall flat. All this made it had to get into and enjoy the "drama" unfolding.

The story started with the potential of being great but quickly became just another forgettable novel. <<less

I didn't check the rating of this novel before I started. I was reading another novel at the translator's website when I came across this novel. Premise sounded good. Well, it is a good story but I wish the ending wasn't abrupt. The author seems to be bored and wrapped up the story. She wrote extras, they aren't machine translated yet.

Translator did a good job.

Spoiler

Author never told what happened to Yinyun after she ran away from her wedding.

I liked reading what happened in the another version of second life or the life Tingyun dreamt of. What if Tingyu was alive and she met Fu Changxi?

I still don't understand why Yinyun felt the need to suppress Tingyu. Yes, female lead was successful but it never stopped her elder sister from living a good life from what I gathered. She is probably a very selfish creature.

[collapse]

This novel is more comedic and isn't much of a vengeful story (No face slapping, at least side characters aren't s*upid). <<less

This is about a girl who dreams about her past life and realizes that her sister is a transmigrator who is out to ruin all her chances at happiness... so she tries fighting against "the book/fate/system" or whatever. I loved her relationship with her grandmother! The ML is cool too. It has some nice school slice-of-life elements and awful family scheming too. I gave it 4 stars because the ending felt rather abrupt... like the author just decided they were tired of writing anymore. I guess you can say it... more>> has an open (happy) ending? Like the OTP do get married.

I finished reading it using MTL but plan on going back and reading it as it's translated too as the translator is doing an excellent job. <<less
