I liked the beginning, it was entertaining. I didn't really like how yan wei punished those who harmed qiaoqiao that lightly, it really wasn't satisfying, I mean it isn't about revenge and all but it still felt empty. The threat were so strong but in the end it was just like that lang? 😭😭 I kept hoping for nothing lol. I guess it was reasonable for them but it really wasn't great to say the least.
Spoiler

ALSO AT SIDE STORY WHERE YAN YE WAS SUDDENLY CHASING HIS FIRST LOVE (I forgot the name) WHAT THE ** WAS THAT IMPLYING, it's simply such a huge red flag lol what were they thinking. It was overall average, supposedly 3.5 for me but 3.0 is too low so 4.0 as an ok read is alright, to also support the author's efforts atleast. Also I did also hope that yan wei could more of did efforts towards making sure that he wouldn't replace qiaoqiao (sure in the end they didn't separate and all but if I were her I'd worry cause hello? Her parents marriage was a nightmare, in this part I think they took this too lightly, but realistically I guess?)

that's all anyways, my opinion that I wanted to vent on because I really wasn't satisfied. It's a pretty light read, go read it if you don't have much more books on your reading list.🕵🏻‍♀️

Story: Sweet without angst, HE

A short simple read. Story of a power couple who communicate their insecurities and thoughts avoiding unnecessary misunderstanding. Their best feature, their open-mindedness.

Both had to face some serious tragedies in the past but the author kept it simple without drama. There were hilarious moments which I missed cause of MTL. Overall it's a great book to pass time

it's a bit tiring to read. MC was a simple foolish girl who was shrouded with misfortunes, while ML was the typical domineering ceo whose incurable illness could be magically cured by MC. Honestly, their conflicts with their families were way more interesting than their romance. There were a few small laughs here and there, shrews/golddiggers everywhere, people who were jealous with MC and ml, and that's it. The whole the super excellent ML fell in love with the super ordinary MC feels a bit outdated (?), especially the extra... more>> about their child
Spoiler

yan miao confessed to the prettiest girl in his class, she raised a condition that she would only date him if he managed to get into the best school in their city but didn't fulfill her promise because she didn't actually like him. Years later, she saw yan miao on tv with his wife, regretting the whole thing, and lamented that now she was only a yellow-faced woman who raised her child at home. This kinda pissed me off ngl lol she was a pretty girl with good grades. She fell this low and became a yellow-faced woman only because she didn't get to be with yan miao /rolls eyes/ like I said, a bit outdated and I felt like I was reading transmigrating into the 60's where your marriage defines your whole future

This is a good one!

Some people might find it weird that Yan Wei fell in love right away, but it seems natural to me.

Zhou Qiaoqiao is loveable, and the way they met, the first thing she said sets her apart from the people in his life. She asked him if he "had a hard time sleeping", probably the only person who cared for him as a person, no status, nor wealth involved, cause they didn't know each other.

For someone who didn't receive love all through his life, I understand why... more>> she was instantly someone he finds interesting.

And she IS interesting. I could never guess what she would say next, her logic is almost always totally out of pocket 😂.

But that's not the best thing about her, the best thing is that she's naturally a good person, and by that I mean she has no malice. But don't mistake her for being a pushover because she stands her ground. I love that about her.

ZQQ might be silly, and a little bit slow, but she's strong and resilient.

Her and Yan Wei surprisingly mirrors each others life experiences when it comes to family, or lack thereof, so they connected easily. If that isn't soulmate, idk what is. <<less

Sweet story. The original plot failed because the older brother (with anorexia and insomnia) didn't die. Both had family issues, their families takes advantage of them, but the couple had each other to give support.

The ML is deeply hidden as a rich person.

Spoiler

Even the FL thought he's poor because is family fired him and didn't give any financial support. He even had to live like an ordinary person to meet FL's expectations. Funny when he rides a bus to take his wife to work, then a bentley will pick him up secretly.

[collapse]

The secrecy is a misunderstanding and it was cleared up much later. I like that it just made the FL shookt but did not cause any angst, and they still lived the same way. <<less

Normally my least favourite type of MC is the dumb girl whose main attraction is to be the manic pixie dream girl to an emotionally deprived man of status. However, MC here is perfectly charming and relatable, with very realistic thought processes, skills, and vulnerability points. She takes her lumps well, and is someone you'd love to have as a friend. ML also delivers quite well. While the premises are nothing new, the characterisations and dialogue are thoughtfully done, so it's worth a 5 stars from me.

I unfortunately encountered this degenerate novel.

The MC was one of the dumbest, slow witted, useless, and utterly deplorable character I've read. The author did try to pass it off as just being slow because she was dropped as a baby but her actions and behavior say otherwise. She cannot accomplish the simpliest thing without the manipulative ML's intervention. I read this far hoping that there's going to be at least a tiny character development but nada. She remained the same. Her lack of even the most basic common sense was... more>> so off putting. Imagine if she ends up having a baby? How will she educate her child when she cannot even excel in anything she does without depending on a man? What a waste of time!! The author and her characters should just reincarnate together. Maybe they'll grow some brains and common sense. <<less

A nice complete translated novel~

Spoiler

Honestly, the FL isn't really to my liking.. she's a bit too naive, foolish and dim-witted. These traits can grate on my nerves quite a bit. Surprisingly, being with the ML (who is sly, cunning and a bit aloof at times) actually made them quite an adorable pair.

[collapse]

I like the story itself. And I especially like the sweet sugary romance~

Spoiler

FL is awesome whenever she stands on her feet. Her beatings and slaps towards the villainous 'transmigrator' was really satisfying (hehe)..

ML has the tendency to act like a domineering CEO, especially when protecting his beloved wife. He acts pitiful and always tries to garner sympathies from FL, and FL always falls for his tricks (from the beginning till the end)...

[collapse]

Since it's a short story, I finished reading in just a few hours. It's truly enjoyable 🌈🌷 <<less

Ugh, it was a happy ending but I am still a little disappointed. I felt that the leads’ family members did not get any of the retributions that were owed. They treated the FL and ML so poorly but other than a few harsh words to scold them, the family members were forgiven too easily. And the ML even helped them when they were in trouble.

Personally, I wasn’t satisfied with the face slapping, but I liked the main couple enough to finish the novel.

The Summary doesn't do justice. The summary seems paint our MC as someone who want to have the Good Life the supposed 'Og!TransmigratorMC' have. But she's NOT!!!

She's neither Arrogant nor Greedy. She's our Cute Dork Silly Lovable MC!

She's not written as a Goddess or someone who attract people from left or right. She's not painted as a Charming person either.

... more>> Her Naive Brave on her first meet with ML and her temporary baldness, what attract ML first. But her Presence what keep ML cling to her.

ML has Ulterior motives and doesn't actually hide it. Our MC was just too Naive and Confused with his presence. Our ML is also a slightly Black Belly, but always Good to MC.

Our ML also doesn't painted as a Super Good Looking person either. ML IS Handsome, but his Aura is the Most Eye-catching one.

Our ML become a Perfect Husband and Father because he has Qiaoqiao by his side. I'm not joking, he's really Great Father teaching his children the Lesson and Meaning of Life. The Extras about his children's life was Sooo good!!

Back to the main plot. The plot was Refreshing!!!

Yes both MC and ML's Family are Sooooooooooo Flawed the author doesn't downplayed it but also NOT Overdoing it. They're Flawed, but not Evil. Though they were Very Frustrating at the beginning. And it's not like we are shown any redemption whatsoever.

Yes, we didn't shown any of their redemption but because they're Not Evil, nor Super Idiot or Super Frustrating. We're shown their thoughts of life etc, and thuse we get how very very Flawed they are. But MC and ML doesn't fully cut their relationship with their family. As long as no one crossing any line, both MC and ML will still talk to them.

Also not because our MC and ML are Saint whatsoever. Don't get them wrong. It's just showing how Realistic and Complex the Family Drama and Feel this novel has.

Anyway this Novel was Truly a Breath of Fresh Air! Please do give it a chance. It's Worth it!!!

It deserve to become a Romance Anime too! So many scenes I can imagine as Anime that could potray the Emotional scene so Gooooood!!!!

Don't doubt my Love, this Novel mostly Fluff and good for Break too. I'm Beyond Loving it!!! <<less

Super, super cute and fluffy. Very low angst. FL is resilient, goofy, and capable. She can be gullible, but she can also be quite shrewd. We also see how she sometimes acts dumb intentionally just to infuriate people, which I find hilarious. ML is adorable in his pursuit of winning her over and keeping her. No high handed tactics. He just adores her. They have a lovely, simple, laidback lifestyle. They make a family by being together, which is what they were both seeking. A very playful couple. They remind... more>> me a bit of Shan Shan & Feng Teng in Shan Shan Comes to Eat (Boss & Me), but this novel has less drama.

Read this novel if you want a pleasant, angst free, short love story that's a bit silly, but also quite sincere. <<less

Unrated review

I just finish the side stories, and I can say that this story have all of the type of cliches combined which at some point makes it quite unique. We have here the ditsy gullible MC, the overpowered ML, transmigration into book, the s*upid father who hates his daughter/son, many more.

It actually satisfy the part in me who wants to read this type of story about an innocent girl being protected by her man unlike most of the story right now having the independent MC but unlike those story... more>> this actually have so many scenes that kind of infuriates you and many of those are because mostly of the characters alway jumps into conclusion about the main characters which maybe because unlike other story this story doesn't really have the satisfying face-slapping moments which maybe I am accustomed to (even the only face-slapping moments it has isn't so satisfying at all).

Now, let's talk about the MC, she's really gullible no, I mean, when she's in a moment of life and death, she saw her future or more like her body's future in which she later on wants for herself but the moment she wakes up and the OG ML tells that they would pay her she forgot what's her original plan. She's not overly silly, there were also times that she got smart up but doesn't happened when you think it's appropriate to happen in the scenes. Also, I can say that with so many misfortune she met, it's so lucky that she's still alive. I guess the saying "Fortune favors fools" was true for her in some sense.

Then the ML, at first, the way he fools MC in making her eat with him doesn't seem appropriate when you look at it in other views especially if he's a creep but since he's the ML it'll seem cute, of course.

Let's proceed to their love story, I guess I appreciate it cause both of them really just wish for simple and casual life with each other like even though they were living in a simple apartment without the lavishness of wealth they are happy (which is because the ML is acting penniless in this part) still cute for me.

The wedding part, I think in this part I just really learned how to appreciate Chinese weddings like the process of wedding they have. Cause this part shows us the repentance of MC's Dad, I mean atleast at the last minute (actually he realized it a day before but vocalizes it at the wedding itself) he didn't say sorry but he accepts his fault that he lacked as a father and just hopes that MC and ML will be happy together. In here, I realized, he isn't actually bad father to begin with, he was a good father to MC in her early years they just really have a fall out in the later years, it's just that he's as gullible as the MC to actually listen to his mistress. The amount of time they spent apart led to them falling out with addition of misunderstanding cause by the Mistress and MC's brother. Although, kinda bleak on the ML's side though.

Earlier I told about the lacked of face-slapping moments, maybe it's because I am accustomed to one but when I observed it. Maybe that makes it realistic in a sense that we spent amount of our life living with those people that at some point infuriates and belittle us or do us bad. Like here, the MC's stepmother, I guess, she's really hateful but if this another story she'll be even more hateful cause they'll try to split up the MC and ML and then bring her daughter in between. I mean they do have the thought but not the actions. I mean, what I like about it is just even though they have malicious thoughts, they didn't actually make actions to make malicious actions which I am accustomed to.

I guess this story want to portray the type of 'I get revenge by living happy' but this is much more illustrated better in their son's story that theirs. Also, I thought we'll be having the brother's story at the side chapter unfortunately it just shows us how the OG MC's (Shan Litong) situation is.

So lastly, the last chapter, I'm surprised that the last chapter of the story was actually about the ML's background story. When I read it, I want to say it's very sad, and it really shows us that a child's childhood is an important part of their lives and that it'll have an impact to them in their later years. I think what makes it more sad is the fact that even after being rescued from kidnapping they didn't did an appropriate action to alleviate his trauma like counseling. I think it's his dad that says something about how he was already rescued for years yet he can't seemed to moved on in really get on my nerves. I mean it's trauma, it takes years to moved on from it, and even though you get to moved on there'll be a time you'll have relapsed from it. Do they expect a child to just overcome it on his own. Anyways, unlike other story of ML being already emotionless and intelligent as a child, ML is a normal naughty boy all before the kidnapping incident. They end the story with the ML meeting the FL the first time like how they started their love story. <<less

This is a very funny novel. The conversations are sometimes really comedic. The FL is silly-sweet but she's not dumb. She had had bad luck for all her life but she remains positive. There were some face-slapping moments but they usually did not come from her, but from the ML who can't see her be bullied all the time. The romance is very quick and outright. The ML was a sick person with anorexia and insomnia, but he was attracted by the appetite of the FL so he tries to... more>> be with her to eat all the time. These two were just cannon fodders in the novel and were supposed to die, but they didn't and their existence changed the course of the story. <<less

No shade to TL, they did a really great job.

But the story is not my cup of tea.

Spoiler
  • Author tried too hard? It seemed like k-drama or c-drama. Where everything is possible bc FL is cute. At first she was okay, but somehow, after knowing the 'plot' she became a super simple, slow witted girl, with a pride to pierce the heaven. Simple + golden finger= braindead.
  • The golden finger is so blatant lol. Plot? Character development? What's that? Useless garbage. We only need FL with ultra cheat.

I generally liked this story, if I were to rate it thoroughly, I'd probably give it a 4.25, but I'm going to round up to 5 because it's genuinely entertaining and has some great concepts. Prepare yourself, this might be a controversial review...

I honestly really liked the extra on taxes. I know the translator commented that it felt like propaganda, and the author might have laid it on a bit heavy, but keep in mind that the father is explaining the concept of taxes to a young child in the... more>> story. Analogies, clear examples, and slightly idealistic explanations are the way to go. The child can learn the complexities of government planning, spending, and budgeting as she gets older. And to the comment that rich people don't actually pay much tax, this is exactly the problem - many with privilege think whatever they can do is whatever they're owed, without recognizing the foundations that helped them get what they have. They try everything they can to evade taxes because they don't acknowledge or realize the importance of them. You can disagree with the government policies, or budget allocation, but how can you argue against the idea that the government of the country you're living in has provided the basis for any success you have in life? Whether it's the education framework, public resources (libraries, roads, etc), legal governance (patents, copyright protection, etc), or so much more, governments are essential to creating an economy and environment for there to be wealth (or not). Even if I wince at the money going out of my paycheck, and even if it's "not fair" that some people find ways to not pay their share, I don't really begrudge taxes. There's a limit and obligations that the government have to fulfill of course, but most of the people complaining about taxes live in countries that demand reasonable taxes for reasonable societal benefit.

OK, this is the end of my unnecessary political ponderings. The story also touches on some pretty interesting family dynamics. I like how nuanced the author portrays all the families. They're all slightly dysfunctional, but realistically so. Even if a parent loves their child, they can harm them in many ways. I personally think that in most cases, the cracks that form between parent and children can be mended to some extent. Even in the story, when family members really need help, they do end up pulling through for each other. It might be wrapped in layers of mixed interests and with buckets of I-told-you-so's, but the MC, ml, and even antagonists family end up lending a hand when they could have just as easily kicked them away.

What's honestly more unrealistic is how perfect the MC and ml's nuclear family is. And this is my main complaint with this novel. The ML and MC don't really fight because it feels like the ML treats the MC like a lucky pet. Overly pampering, not worth arguing with because the pet doesn't recognize logic, and a treasured charm that helps him live a normal life. Thankfully, the MC has a bit of her own unique strong-mindedness and insight, so it never gets outright annoying, but she's also never really on equal footing with the ml. Sure, the ML needs her to survive, but it's not really because of anything she does - it's because of some mysterious ability she has to give him appetite and get him to sleep. Perhaps people could interpret this as her innocent love of life reigniting his, but that doesn't quite fit for me. It feels like he should have met plenty of people who love life, some who might even be quite innocent at the same time. After all, loving life and innocent naivety are some of the most vague yet broadly applicable qualities people can have.

At the end of the day, this story is a wish fulfilling fairy tale; it's Cinderella set in modern times with "psychological healing" acting as the fairy godmother. Just like readers should recognize that a coerced fictional relationship would not lead to a healthy relationship in real life, they should realize that such a perfect, needy knight in shining armor does not exist in reality. No partner would cater to your every want, anticipate and address unspoken needs, and give everything while only asking for your presence in return. But this story does a good job of creating a world where that partner exists, and isn't creating fantasy what fiction is good for? <<less

Fluff, good pacing, and romantic with how the MC and ML build their life together, interspersed with frustrating family drama in between.

Good story for those who dig characters like our MC here but not me.

But still I persisted due to two strong reasons

1) it was typically those cliché novels with same plot of domineering ceo wolf pretending to be in sheep clothes protecting and pampering her whims (to gain some future tips for my personal goals) and fluffy rabbit silly foolish girl with not so dumb disguising her PICK ME GIRL attitude

2) as I already read some heavy blow on vital parts and bloody bath with the mind set of... more>> if I'm dying I'll mu*der you first based novels to chill the future sugar mommy in me. And it did as I'm already OMW to another one.

I just couldn't connect with Zhao Qioaqioa in person not because of her meeting unfortunate circumstances before encountering yan wei and protected by him or self-depreciating lines to gain sympathy from readers but her way of doing things in general. Even the romance part was so bland that it made me a little regret to read it however drama wise it was okay.

Otherwise appreciate the translation which was really good and hope this type of translators should pick my kind of books. That's why so many stars only for the translator not for the story. <<less

So cute! Such a green flag ML, FMC is such a cutie, and their love story is full of sweetness and joy. Recommended to people who enjoy the genre.

I have some spoilers I wanna talk about next.

Spoiler

This story is a bit meta, which makes it a little hard to talk about. There's the Original Novel (ON), which is about Yan Ye and Shan Lingtong. Then there's the Transmigration Novel (TN), which is about Liu Yun entering the ON in Zhou Qiaoqiao's body, stealing the ML of the ON Yan Ye from Shan Lingtong, and becoming a rich young starlet. Finally, there's the Actual Novel (AN), which is about Zhou Qiaoqiao saying "hell no, it's my body!" to the protagonist of the TN, Liu Yun. Who then gets sent to the ON ML's "white moonlight" (basically, the one that got away) Shang Qiwen.

[collapse]

Spoiler

When Liu Yun transmigrated into the novel, she absorbs the memories of the host body. In the TN, that was Zhou Qiaoqiao, a poor, clever, and hardworking girl. I think that had a huge impact on her personality and success in the TN. However, in the AN, Liu Yun gets sent to Shang Qiwen, a rich, entitled, "princess". As a result, Liu Yun/Shang Qiwen turns into one of the biggest antagonists in Zhou Qiaoqiao's story.

[collapse]

Spoiler

One of the biggest complaints I have is that Yan Ye (the ON ML) is a piece of crap, but it's implied in the extra chapters that he eventually ends up with Shan Lingtong (the ON FL), even after all the awful things he's done to her. Yan Ye was not really a villain to Zhou Qiaoqiao, but he was someone antagonistic with the AN ML Yan Wei. He made a lot of terrible decisions which hurt the people closest to him. He definitely didn't deserve the happy ending that was implied in the extras.
