In order to advance his career, Han Cheng married Xia Tian, a man who not only recently became an adult, but was also younger than him by a little over ten years. Since he didn’t want to lead the kid astray, Han Cheng upgraded to a serious post-marriage lifestyle that did not involve any gambling, one-night-stands, or friends with benefits.

In order to obtain the chance of entering into school, Xia Tian married Uncle Han, whom he had always respected while growing up. After a while, Xia Tian realized that his respected Uncle Han wasn’t exactly honest and great, but he discovered that too late. His fetus heart had already fallen too deep.

Marriage Agreement

I actually wanted to wait until after I finished the novel to review, but I couldn't really, seeing as a lot of the reviews barely reached halfway before reviewing... so I just made-do with *almost* reaching the end.

1. The business marriage

This is why I wanted to review after I finished the novel... Especially after seeing the review by AnuBis28. Yes, it's a business marriage, but they had only done it in the first place so as to protect the MC and his mother so his grandmother wouldn't be able... more>> to touch them to use them for her own greed... This is stated early on in the novel. Y'know what else is stated early on?
Spoiler

The ML says to the MC that if after a couple months of their engagement/marriage, and he doesnt want to do it anymore, he could back out if he wanted to. Not only that, it is also explained that because of his (ML's) status, a lot of people constantly used his name to create fake scandals, making his private life seem messier than it actually is in the media. When they have their engagement, ML completely cuts off clean any possible messy misunderstandings and is very considerate of how his actions might impact MC

[collapse]
No spoiler explanation of above spoiler: ML is very considerate of how his actions might impact MC and respects him and his decisions very much.

ML clearly understands that as MC is still very young, he must guide him in his actions, his studies etc. etc. So he does

2. The age gap

Yes, the age gap is 14 years. I know that's a lot. But firstly, their marriage agreement was intended as more of a business marriage with them starting out as nothing more than an uncle-nephew relationship (Not related. Just similar to what you call an older male friend "big brother" perhaps) whilst acting like lovers in public for the sake of MC. The nephew respects and admires his uncle, the uncle respects and dotes on the nephew.
Spoiler

When ML confessed, he wanted to wait before he got his answer from MC... because he didnt want MC to regret it as he was still in his youth.

[collapse]
How can one not love such an admirable, respectable male lead like this?!

As for the MC, I dont have much to say actually. He's young and sort of inexperienced, but he's clever and knows what he wants.

This is why I wanted to wait until I finished the novel. It's infuriating to see that some people might be discouraged to read such a sweet and unproblematic novel because of reviews from people who barely read past halfway... Of course, words from someone who finished the novel are more trustworthy, so I'll make an edit to this review when I do.. <<less

Sweet. The age gap is a bit wider than most but MC is firm with his own feelings, has a good sense of self-worth, and doesn't feel inferior because he is young and inexperienced. ML is also very considerate towards MC's lack of dating experience. He isn't overbearing or manipulative. He knows there is an imbalance caused by the age gap so he goes out of his way to give MC breathing room.

My favorite part is when the MC broke the billiards cue. I love how he was firm that... more>> he was obedient to ML not because he doesn't have a temper but because he likes ML and is willing, but that it doesn't mean that he will be a doormat.

I love how the author made it clear than in relationships, sometimes there will be a dominant and a submissive person, but it shouldn't be out of fear or insecurity, but rather mutual respect and willingness. The dominant person is dominant only because the submissive one allows it, and the submissive one can entrust himself to the other because of a strong sense of security.

There are plot holes but I think this CP dynamic is much healthier than a lot of other popular novels. <<less

Am I one of those few that felt that their communication and development was a bit forceful?

Anyway, the author will put an HE but if I were the MC, gambling in that kind of wreckless likeness (infatuation or obssession for a fatherly presemce) I woul rather not want it to develop.

The author tried to oversimplify the emotions and feelings of the characters. It leads to the forceful portrayal of the characters.

What about the inferiority, and uneasiness of the MC? Yes, we know that the ML had previous records of messy... more>> affair of one night stand, hanging out with his messy friends and no serious relationships in the past which is for me a hidden problem. Why? Because, for me no matter how deep their love for each other, and no matter how the author magnify the greatness of their love, We cannot forget that their always will be uneasiness and irritabilty buried deep in our subconscious part of our mind that sooner or later or from time to time will resurface especially on the case of ML as opposed to those people who have previous relations without the messy issue and have a good closure in the end of their relationship. <<less

I don't mind age gaps but I much prefer them when they subvert stereotypes. However, this doesn't do that here; this is rather wholesome. Comment by AnuBis28 is right in this is your basic Doting CEO gong x Innocent/cute shou, which isn't really my cup of tea, but if you like this sort of pairing, I'd say go for it. The gong is much more considerate and mature to the shou than the ones I usually see with this sort of pairing (the shou falls in love first, in case... more>> anyone is wondering). The translations are good and it's an easy read, especially as this will be less than 50 chapters long. <<less

An obedient and clever boy who has just turned eighteen got married to a business tycoon who's fourteen years older than him..

Xia Tian, the teen had lost his father at a young age.. His academic results are horrible.. His step-grandmother arranged a business marriage for him with an illegitimate infamous son from influential Han family.. Instead he got married with Han Cheng from the main family because both of their mothers were friends..

[collapse]

Even though I like stories with age gap, fourteen years is too much for me.. And when I read that Han Cheng, the older guy was an expert in one night stands, I lost more than half of my interest.. Well, he is staying away from others since marriage now.. He is taking good care of Xia Tian.. But Xia Tian is barely an adult.. It's inevitable that he'd feel drawn to his husband who is helping him in many ways..

The story is going smoothly.. But nothing new.. Just the same 'Cold CEO doting on his young wife' type of story.. Let's see what happens further..

Mother Han's son is thirty two, while mother Xia's son is only eighteen.. The story made it seem like they are quite close friends, as if they are from same generation.. I'm quite confused..

Mother Han could've helped Xia mother-son pair in a different way.. But she wanted a good partner for her son.. So she proposed this marriage.. Truly a businesswoman..

Short, sweet and light. I don't mind age-gaps especially when it is not the source of s*upid angst and melodrama. Both protags are quite self-aware and confident and they are not going to let outsiders interfere with their decisions. Just because MC is young and shy does not mean he is weak. I loved the billiard room episode when MC shows he is not the weak chicken that is easy to bully... I also liked that ML is confident enough to take on several roles in regards to MC... father-figure,... more>> guardian, teacher, husband, tutor... and continued to do so even after they got together as a real couple. <<less

Rating: 2.5/5- Meh. This story had way too many conflicting views for a marriage and it made for uncomfortable reading.

There’s the uncle nephew vibe, then the high school, underage factor and then almost a fatherly raising a child concept. And all this is done after marriage.

I felt super uncomfortable reading this because the relationship doesn’t really make any sense. On top of that, Xia Tian is the person who develops feelings first and we are taken through a couple of chapters where his feelings are progressing- yet suddenly Han Cheng... more>> steals his thunder and confesses and we never really understand how in a split second his uncle-nephew relationship suddenly changes into a romantic one.

There’s a lot happening without structure and the relationship seems unrealistic and without substance. There’s no chemistry and no development, once chapter you’re married and another chapter you’re in love. The information in between serves as fillers.

It’s not a very good novel. Read with caution. <<less

The MC is so weak. He has no qualifications whatsoever, deadlast in class, bumbling mess who can't function for shit. His mother pampers him and fight for him. Later on, ML pampers him and fight for him.

In this story, MC does nothing, he never works hard to study, no ambitions. Even though he is also heir to powerful family, somehow he is just bumbling mess.

Those who like story about ML pampering weak shou will like this story. This is a story of rich shou who is s*upid and can't do... more>> anything, who waits around for ML to come and pamper him.

Somehow, this author makes MC into such a weakling, just because a man is a shou, he is still a man. I wish danmei author will stop stereotyping shou into the worst prototype of weakling damsel in distress. <<less

It's a good short novel. Cute and fluffy.

My favorite chapter so far is chapter 23 because of MC's thoughts. Even though he likes the ML but that doesn't mean he will accept everything.

ML confessed to the MC around chapter 30th after their first kiss during a photoshoot

The only thing I found missing is that there are no smex scenes. Till chapter 43, there are only rare kisses.

A quite simple story, with a lot of fluff, a bit predictable but executed nicely.

What I love the most is how healthy they relationship is (hence the additional 1 star from me), despite the huge 14 years age gap. And I really adore the MC.

I like this story normally I don't write reviews but this story so far is good, the translator is doing a very good job, I hope more people read this story! Its a typical everyday story between a gong & super cute shou, though there is an age gap I still feel the couple dynamic is good. The ML is protective towards MC but often misunderstands MC's intensions (of love) as rebelious teen phase LOL that's really funny TBH.

Lol... Too fast to give review? What I feel from reading the first chapter was rather sense unrealistic... The character building seem weak, the world building seem weak too, yeah and the art communication between character feel forced...

At chapter 2 : Lol.. I give up... I have wrong mindset when reading this story.. so I can't fully enjoy it...

I didn't want to be rude while writing this but I don't know how to describe my disappointment. I was very excited to read this novel but there were quite a few things in the book which made me uncomfortable. For eg

  • Spoiler

“Uncle Han... You’re a great person. Please leave me an intact body.”

    [collapse]
This was said by MC to ML after having sëx which was awkward af to read and made me uncomfortable
  • ML treated MC as his nephew and wanted to have a relationship of uncle-nephew with his own husband after marrying him?! TF?! I mean the marriage was fake but it was no reason to treat a spousal relationship in that manner.
  • MC kept calling his husband, the ml, uncle throughout the novel which was very disgusting and disturbing.
  • Age-gap wasn't even the problem because tbh I don't mind it but the problem was that ML was basically acting as a parent to MC throughout the novel after getting married which was very uncomfortable to read.
The reason I finished reading the book is because I wanted to review it and I believe if I didn't finish it I wouldn't be qualified to review it but it was not worth it. At all.

I tried hard to like this but I really can't? Like I have mixed feelings about this novel. At first I was loving the interaction and I thought there would be progress in the relationship which is there is actually but barely... Idk but I can't feel the chemistry between them thru my screen. As certified fluff enthusiast who've read almost read every novel with this trope their romance felt like a tasteless mashed potato

Its very cute, very adorable and very fluffy...I loved it... it was a sweet read and I loved the characters... I don't know why people complain about the age gap... one thing is love is based on a lot of things and I do not think age is seriously an issue provided it is not a relationship between a person who is unable to take a decision for themselves and is too naive and innocent like an underage kid... MC is already 18... it's his first love... don't all kids... more>> under 18 too have lovers??? He is matured enough to understand what he wants and to take decisions... he is legally married to a guy who is older than him... that guy takes care of him very attentively and showers him with love... how could the MC not love the ML??? I don't see a problem here... anyways it's a pretty good read... thanking the author and the translator for bringing us this piece of gem 💎. <<less

The beginning was a bit too simple, overall this is a slow paced fluffy love between Xia Tian and Han Cheng. I didn’t mind their age difference between the two and there weren’t any major ups and downs. Misunderstandings were pretty much handled fast by Han Cheng.
Spoiler

Both Xia Tian and Han Cheng were raised by single mother’s who were besties. And while Xia Tian’s mother was a bit hesitant about their relationship Han Cheng’s mother just wanted them to make their marriage real as soon as possible. I will say it was a bit funny how Xia Tian thought he was able to keep secrets from Han Cheng but his assistant sold Xia Tian out. While the cold ceo has been done many times I wasn’t all that bothered with it because of how caring he was for Xia Tian even when their relationship was still that of an elder caring for a junior.

Also the story was well translated so cheers for the author and translator <<less

It was sweet in the beginning. I just didn't like the ML. I felt like he was too overbearing and sometimes rude to the MC.

The MC is a sweet and gentle character "who can stand up for himself" but I don't know why he doesn't tell the ML to stop treating him like a subordinate.

I feel like the MC doesn't mind it when the ML acts over hearing. And that kinda put me off from this story.

I know I definitely wouldn't be in a relationship with an overbearing person. I... more>> believe a relationship needs to have 50/50 equal say in it. But in this novel it's clearly the ML gets 80% of the say of what goes on in their relationship and the MC just has to agree the whole time... <<less

Arranged marriage. Big age gap. Harmonious romance development. Sincere and sweet. Good pace and length... few more chapters added would make it more fulfilled. No smut just enough hints for reader to wish for more. No angst. No forced or r*pe. Happy ending. No extraordinary but just FELT GOOD reading.

Really really recommended because I think it's well written. The translation is well done as well.

With my basic English, that's just few words I could think of. Unable to express more ¯_ (ツ) _/¯

Age gap? Say less!

I’m a sucker for plots like this so this two-cents of mine is heavy on the bias. I just love a man who dotes on his younger lover; better yet I adore a former rake being a total wife s*ave. Personally, if it was longer & had more details it would’ve made it so much better. Nevertheless, a sweet read, especially if your favorite tropes include age gap, doting male leads, & falling in love with your contractual hubby

The first chapters (5 or so) are a kind of boring (at least for me), because background setting of them and their business marriage seems unrealistic though they do kind of makes sense (Yeah don't dive to much into it).

Their interactions and behavior are awkward and a little forced at first because MC is the one trying to build a bridge to ML, hoping to make their deal less 'business-like' and more friendly - but because they are 14 years apart there's no much common topics to talk about-. ML... more>> take this as the youth yearning for a paternal figure and so the uncle-nephew relationship begins (yeah weird but it also makes sense)

But I wanna warning you: this novel is mostly dog food. From chapter 10 and afterwards is almost sweet after sweet every time they are together. Angst?? Nop, this novel doesn't know what that really is.

If you came from a very depressing or heavy ploted novel this one is perfect to restore your mushy side and put you a silly smile. It's no complicated and does not want you to think to much. Take this one as a dessert and not as a full meal. <<less
