Mid af story with no consistency, the previous review gave me some hope but it was dashed immediately. If "unique" means the MC is simultaneously good at necromancy, black magic, blood magic, martial arts, cultivation, alchemy, and crafting then sure it's "unique".

The story starts with the MC being betrayed and executed by his party but he already made a stone that would turn back time. Initially it seemed like the stone would bring both him and the "hero" that executed him back because the writing implied the light of the... more>> stone took both of them. But nope we read the "hero" POV a few chapters later and find out it's just the MC. The hero is also cartoonishly evil with no redeeming quality, he's just an as*hole that would do anything for more power for the sake of his pride and vanity.

The MC is just boring af he's perfect at everything he does, the story tries to add down sides to his dark magic such as a dark veins being etched into his skin but later parts of the story just conveniently never mentions it again. I've also noticed that he weirdly doesn't kill anyone, this happened after a gang tried to rob him and he beat them up until all of them were unconscious. On the chapter where I decided to quit some minor side character tried to recruit him in a solo survival test then talk sh*t about him for being a mage, so MC calls him a loser for grouping up for a solo survival but proceeds to group up with a left-over group himself (you can't make this sh*t up).

The system of stats and levels means absolutely nothing as the MC kills a lvl 50 mob as a level 1 and proceeds to do a bunch of other bullsh*t that would make no sense in a static system where stats can only be increased through levels and achievements. The author probably realized this so for the next 10-20 chapters no stats is ever mentioned again while levels is still being thrown around, there was one mention of damage reduction higher level beings have but conveniently dark magic bypasses that so level doesn't matter (huray)

It's a self insert wish fulfillment novel with a hollier than thou MC that doesn't kill anybody but still acts like an anti hero and is perfect at everything. 3/10 <<less

It's not quite a necromancer so it gets a pass haha. It's a good concept, and I like our protagonist. The path is definitely one of an OP protagonist, but we're getting side characters developed and learning a bit more of the world building. It's not quite a one note power trip just yet.

Pretty promising, and if you've read that sort before, it may not beat the peak of em yet, but it's a promising start that diverges a little from the set formulas of other abilities and progression paths...... more>> using a bit of martial arts story elements in a way to reclassify our progression path.

An interesting blend in that it doesn't overtly just go martial arts all in... just yet.

I'll agree that if you're tired of the formula it's not going to do much for ya, but what can I say. I still dig these. I hope that the "self insert" commentary goes away. Our protag feels similar in structure to many other narratives.. <<less
