I saw the many great reviews, combined with it being so high on the series ranking list, I thought it would be a great series. I was very disappointed in this. It is your very typical japanese novel template, I can never tell if the these types of novels find it funny to write characters with no common sense or if the authors just suck ass at writing a complete character. It is also your typical japanese novel with a few tropes I detest so I will not continue to... more>> read it past c2 part 11.

1- MC is OP in power, but he can't carry a conversation worth crap. People say that this story is interesting - it could have been. Sadly, he is the only character with common sense in the entire novel. It makes you disdain everyone else and leads to a lack to respect for the world building. The reactions of side characters show the emotional maturity of an 8 year old. 2- The "heroes" are totally dumb. This is the group of people the world perceives to be heroes. They are so bad compared to the MC that it is irritating to read. They lack common sense, the princess lacks education that you would expect a princess to have. She isn't worldly, she doesn't understand economics and she isn't aware of society. It's as if the author finds it funny to make everyone except MC and his close friends a dumb brick.

3- The MC will be surrounded by loli's and hot women in the future. For no reason. They will also be one dimensional characters confined to a jap trope behavior. 4- The demon king wants peace, not war. They will probably solve problems with love and understanding and friendship. This kind of bullsh*t is ridiculous.

Really too cliche for me. 2/5 stars. <<less

At first it was interesting to know that experience can be gain too even though you face same (or even lower) mobs. But as the story goes on, the MC became ret*rd and ignorant, which drive me nuts!

it's okay if you put faith on demon lord, but those s*upid heroes need to get a spank in the ass to know their s*upid ideology.

just drop this one if you hate typical japanese MC with s*upidly-kind-and-good-hearted-but-ignorant ideology

I read it at first being curious and interested in the premise. Turns out it’s not as good as it’s hyped to be. The MC is OP, yes, if you like that stuff. Personally, I think it’s an overused trope, but if the author wrote it well, it could’ve been good. In the case of this story, it’s not good.

The MC is every bit the ‘couldn’t care less’ MC that seems to be popular these days, such as with Tsuyokute, Kuro no Maou and Bocchi Tenseiki. However, the author failed... more>> in providing a well-rounded MC.

The lack of logic in the actions of everyone around the MC is frankly annoying. It’s like the author wanted a wish-fulfillment Mary Sue, but he didn’t know how to make the MC awesome, so he dumbed down everyone other than MC. That’s not how you make a Mary Sue.

I have plenty other bad things to say about the story. I can only say one good thing about the story, it’s that the story started off with a good idea. The author ruined the actual story.

Frankly, I don't know where the author is planning on going with this story. If it's meant to be a drama, then there should be drama, but there is no real drama, just a bunch of s*upidity and illogical actions. If it's meant to be tragedy, it should have some tragedy, but there's none. Normally, if characters act s*upid or silly, it would be comedy, but I didn't laugh even once in the many chapters I've read.

I’ve read until chapter 2 part 9 and I decided to quit while I’m still more or less content with the story. I don’t know if the story improved beyond this part, but I doubt I want to try again. Maybe if it reach chapter 30 and a lot more people give it high reviews. Doesn’t seem likely though.

Read it if you like OP MCs, lack of real conflict and stories with game-like elements. You’ll probably be satisfied if these three are your only requirements. Don’t expect anything intelligent or mind provoking. <<less

Well at first few chapters it looked promising like how a lowest level villager becomes OP but then it became same cliche shit.

Apparently accept for MC and his friend everybody else is just dumb

Hero is a weak ass bit*h who thinks of himself as strongest and is quite annoying. Hero's party are full of s*upid b*tches which too are annoying as hell. There is no logic in their actions and only logic they understand is "WE ARE HEROES SO WE GOTTA KILL ALL DEMONS AND THE DEMON KING".

MC is like... more>> 'I don't care' guy but author failed to make him awesome. He is OP which is fine for me but instead of kicking that dumb hero's s*upid ass he chooses to escape, I mean like what good is your strength if you don't even use it.

It started with a good plot and promising MC but the s*upidity of other characters and cliched story ruined it for me. It became quite annoying later on.

Its only my opinion so don't refrain yourself from giving it a shot who knows you may like it, but if you don't like cliche story and dumb characters then I don't recommend it.

I have read it upto V3C5 and thats it for me so I am giving it a rating of 2/5. <<less

Could have been a higher rating, but this is me so I rate it according to how much I like it.

Okay, here is the reason why I rate it this way.

Kagami is a LVL 999 Villager and super OP, but did not care much about fighting against the demon and such.

... more>> I don’t hate him for he is not willing to fight the demons, but for him to not teach the human especially the hero party a lesson in life is just plain wrong.

The hero party attack him time and time again, but he do nothing and just let it go as nothing... take all the insult and blame and the like.

Like they said, “With great power, come great responsibility, ” but he just don’t give a fvck.

Okay, I know that some people will say that he want to avoid problem between the demon race and human race.

I decided to drop this novel due to Kagami being a puuussy, running away from LVL 80 and below enemy...

I thought that he will be like Hifumi from Summoned Slaughterer (or MC that have balls), but guess my expectation is wrong. <<less

Another loser author writes a Gary Stu novel that really goes nowhere. I'm hoping the lazy, uninspired writing is a side effect of being translated. If you want a loser MC who is OP for no reason and like reading power fantasies written by an idiot who have no life experience with any real emotional/physical hardship and have no real world interaction with real people (especially those with the opposite sex), this novel is down your alley. Otherwise, avoid!

Things I like about the series:

I liked the concept of the series at first. MC is OP, but overlooked due to the fact that they don’t have a combat class? Seems somewhat interesting. The MC also seems to be the type that doesn’t hold prejudice in a polarized human vs. Demon world, and could have an interesting path to try to bridge the two worlds together. Things I don’t like about this series:

The execution on the concept is flawed, however. While the MC has power, he only unwillingly actually uses... more>> it for any good. He seems to have found some peace with some demons in the pre-story, but doesn’t have any interest in trying to do anything about it. He is more dragged into the story instead of taking any proactive action. When questioned on it, he makes some deflections that the other characters seem to take as a deep reason for his actions, but to me it feels more like apathy. With such an unlikable MC, it is really hard for me to recommend this series.

Also, the combat conflicts feel ridiculous. The MC is too OP, and the opponents are not OP enough. I have not felt yet that there is any chance that the MC will run into a situation that his OP stats won’t easily handle.

Overall Evaluation:

Filler material if you are looking for something to read and have nothing better to do. An OK story at the best of times, but it isn’t so horrible on average that I would warn you to not touch the series at all. One hopes that the series will pick up later as the conflict around the main character escalates, but I wouldn’t go into this expecting any excitement. <<less

I like the concept very much... but I think I’m getting bored of the story so far. I may have to postpone reading the future translated chapters until it gets to chapter 90 (+).

I just feel that even I can write a better story than this. The beginning was pretty interesting, but now its like “okay, we get it, he’s super powerful with a demon girl who wants to experience human d*ck for the first time." Like please, get on with the story, what’s the MC’s next move? And all... more>> this downtime... it’s like I’m reading filler.

Because I have a feeling these story updates are better read when there are no delays – so that you don’t forget what actually happened in the last chapter. And considering how the chapters are released in parts, I may have to wait till 2020. It would probably be worth it if the story doesn't run stale by then. <<less

Not the most well written story (strange pacing near the middle) but for once, there's a genuinely interesting moral conundrum and the story itself is engaging. I gave it a 5 to counter some of the other reviews but I would probably give it a solid 4 otherwise.

First, here's some info to counter the negative reviews:

Spoiler

Ignore people who say he's too OP, he isn't. That becomes clear later on, but despite being lv999 he is still a villager and therefore, not obscenely OP. Also ignore people who are 'annoyed by his morals', especially people saying he should beat up the heroes/demons etc. There's a lot of nuance to that, particularly the 'setting' of the world, that only gets revealed later. If you're getting pissed off by how he's just 'running away' or whatever, then that's a good thing. The entire situation is meant to piss you off because there is no simple solution (tl;dr punch punch bam bam no worky)

[collapse]

Next, here's some reasons to actually read the novel.

  1. The Plot. It's engaging, there are questions, they get answered, and things are properly foreshadowed.
  2. It avoids a lot of the cliches that JP isekai's tend to have. Especially around nobility, politics, money etc. I personally do not agree with everything that the MC does/thinks but it's a story, not an op-ed, so there's no need to become angry, just go enjoy the story.
  3. The characters are decently fleshed out, especially the main 2-3. They're also dynamic, so you see them evolve over time (wow, didn't expect that from a webnovel now did ya?) which is great, especially when it adds to the drama of the story.
  4. It's a fun read. If you stop trying to take offense at everything the MC does, it's a genuinely fun story to read (nice contrast of comedy and tragedy, action and dialogue, the works.)
Obviously, this isn't for everyone and it really does take a while to get going. I might even recommend people read the manga first just to skip over some of the slower beginning chapters. Most importantly though, these reviews are generally unfair and do not paint a decent picture of what the story is about and what you should expect from it. Give it a go without expecting it to be like every other isekai, and you might just enjoy yourself! <<less

Reading the first few chapters, I was confused by the bad reviews. The setup was pretty good! There's an epic battle in chapter 3!

Make no mistake, this is a SLICE OF LIFE novel. I have no idea why it's not in the genre list, but after chapter 3 they spend the next (god knows how long) building and running a casino. There's even a part where they attend magic classes, you know, like a slice of life novel? Yep...

I skimmed the most recent chapter and they're still screwing around in... more>> a bar instead of doing anything important. It's not even described in an interesting way, just, a problem pops up and inevitably gets solved. Awful fights, contrived drama ("I didn't like your smile so I betrayed you and everyone you love!" f'king really?!?!), the story just plain stalls at chapter 3, and the humor gets repetitive.

They also did some thing with a black dragon by this point, but I had to ask myself if I wanted to keep reading after several dozen pages of filler. I also wondered why they bothered to make a casino when the main character could easily earn the necessary 15 gold/day. Why he didn't retrieve the gold that was stolen from him by the other adventurers. Why he didn't do anything that fit his character unless it was to drag out the plot. Why was I still reading this goddamn awful novel.

This is a bait and switch and I am not happy! <<less

Well, this is particularly not amazing JP novel. There's op MC, harem, lolis, fillers of slice of life, and else, may add academy things too and this would be complete usual JP novel.

MC is godfather lv999 villager that even hero cant beat him. He is free person, loves money and while he is op, he did lack of desire but nah its fine. MC looked like dumb childish but actually MC did have attitude. Other character also has some characteristic in their own, and altho not all detailed but well... more>> we dont need all of them. Author just need to give detail to MC harem member after all~

Talk about pace, somewhat steady and comfortable. Its actually into slice of life type rather than shounen. Fillers is unavoidable but its not bad, they building character relationship there. World building honestly kinda vague (is it medieval or what), but the world system itself kinda deep. There's also some chapter that I have good laugh, and chapter with other pov.

Overall I could rate this 4/5 but im gonna stick with 5/5 since a lot people here rate this low. I'm enjoying this, the story has target, mystery and kinda deep. Ik sometimes theres boring chapter but honestly there's nothing wrong with this. There's a ton more bad novel than this that has higher rating pfft. <<less

Grammar: 3/5
Story: 4.5/5
Writing: 2.5/5

I adore this series. The series combines just the right amount of levity with jovial comedy, making it a rather real feeling (for a Fantasy Story) environment. You have the radical views, the moderate views, and the deviant views that one could find in the world around you. Though the story is based on an OP MC it takes the reader on a journey of racial and social-political segregation and the attempt to bridge that gap.

The grammar, while not perfect is not so atrocious... more>> as to prevent you from reading. The story more than makes up for any flaws you will find Grammar-wise. There is only one issue I take with this series... The writing is inconsistent. The author makes leaps of logic, seems to insert important details almost as if it were an after thought, or as a way to progress the plot without the readers knowledge. There are times in the novel when you will be wondering, "When the hell did that happen?". Though the series is not rife with these, it happens enough to be irritating and almost pushed me to drop the series. Still, after you get past the rather unexplained moments it returns to being a decent novel.

I recommend this for people who do not mind a bit of a gap in what is read and what seems to be suddenly inserted to get the story moving along. <<less

Its a good story with some short comings like any story will have because you cant please everyone. Mine personally are just because of the naming in regards to attacks and the power values. Otherwise its been pretty good, I dont understand why people are so angry esepcially when they didnt even get far or group it and compare it to other stories but each novel deserves a chance to be separately judged and this is very thoughtful with everything working together auite nicely

At first I thought this was going to be your usual "MC is OP, watch him roar" type novel. It actually evolved into something kinda cute with a pretty decent plot. I am really excited to see this evolve. It takes a bit for things to kick in, but I'm really excited to see where this is going! :)

BG is decent, characters are loveable and actually not merely tropes with names. I like how they treat the "hero", which the MC is not. I like how everyone has a decent character development. After leaving this a while and returning, I feel that it lacks luster that I felt the first time I read it, though. Still enjoyable read, and I really, really like how it has a plot that we could clearly grasp the goal, but without fully uncovering everything before the time. Still pretty high on my... more>> to read list :) <<less

Translation is of a high level, so it’s readable. Plot progression focuses more on characters than mindless action (might be why it has so many bad reviews, the action that is there, actually serves a purpose). The plot starts from a point after the MC has become op and of level 999, saving us from having to read all those details of every level up that some of these web novels like to go through (it is explained but it doesn’t feel tiring having to read it to get to... more>> the good bits since the author doesn’t dwell too long on that) Also, so far, this is not a reincarnation novel. There have been no certainties whatsoever that the MC was reincarnated. This is more like a post apocalyptic world that’s become a game setting – that’s the reason behind pop culture references like game centers etc. Honestly, it’s the first time I’m not rolling my eyes at all the level and stats jargon – since it actually has a reason behind it in the plot instead of countless other mmorpg-realizations.

The plots great, the characters are, too. Especially the main, he’s a lazy money Grubber with a heart of gold. You just need to give it time for the story to progress to find out everything he's failed at and why he is the way he is. Also, the relationship between the demon lord daughter and him is adorable, like siblings and not romantic in nature - a really welcome change from all the loli love interests I keep seeing everywhere <<less

It has great promise even though we are only on the second chapter. The interesting thing is that the characters are developed very well. Even the cliche OP character is very interesting. However, for the most part, the storytelling ruins some parts of the story. I know that I might be offending people, but I am not trying to. I mean that the author should work on the way he organizes the story to make the story much better.

This novel is like wine, it gets soooooo good after awhile

To those who are giving up at the early chapter I would say just go to the manga! Sure the manga skip a lot of part but the novel is a bit confusing!

It’s not isekai

... more>> Not typical save the world

Pacifist character that is not s*upid/not naive/not short sighted

It’s really relatable to the world issue right now

I like overpowered character that's still flawed, that struggles.. I continued from where the manga was so I understand how frustrating the early part is in novel (i skip them due to confusion and slow pace) <<less

The demon child is so freaking annoying omg and this another fantasy novel where MC is op but dumb.

whenever she says something the people around him just agrees to her it's as if she's super mature super intelligent and they don't know the possible problem it could give rise to or is the MC super confident in himself? He already made blunders quite the few time yet he takes rash decisions or he doesn't care about the demon king's daughter's life? Which is it?
