I don't know why no one is picking up this novel for translation, because it is one of the best revenge novels I have read. Many reviewers have talked about the FL, but I am here to talk about the ML as he is so different from any ML in this kind of setting (ancient China).

To start with, he is no prince or even from any aristocratic background. He is a doctor and a very good one in his field. But what is very unique about his situation is that he is being sexually harassed by a royal concubine who is years older than him!!! I don't think I have read any other novel where the ML is facing such a situation and is patiently tolerating it because his sister is in her hand and he is not strong enough. He did plan his revenge and it coincides with the FL revenge plan and so they team up.

I can only recommend. This novel is a masterpiece. It's true that at the beginning I was a bit frustrated because generally the MC in this type of novel is a vengeful ghost and all their actions are serving the purpose of revenge from the get go and they know what to do and do it.

The beginning of the story was more focused on letting us know whtlat she went through. She wanted revenge but didn't have much power so she had to go step by step. It was a... more>> bit frustrating at the beginning but pretty realistic. She didn't have a plan on how to take revenge and suffered a huge trauma from her misery in the pastlife but she was good at seizing opportunities. I have to say the characters development was the most beautiful and most realistic I have seen.

I definitely recommend. 100% recommend. I hope to stumble upon more novels like these. <<less

It's a very good and quite memorable read.

Our protagonist wakes up at the tender age of 14 only to remember the painful memories of her past life.

Filled with vengeance, rather than marry an arrogant gongzi, Ling Jing Shu embarks on a th**ny path to be rid of those who harmed her. But that path leads her all the way to the capital where danger lurks under the masks of nobles.

... more>> This story is deserves a praise for its flow, its realistic depiction of trauma, and love.

The side characters are well rounded and the minor side characters are introduced with enough back story to give the reader an image of the bleak ancient life as well as the struggle under imperial power.

It's nice to see the author incorporate some modern thoughts while not straying from the realm of strict ancient China.

This story also does well with the unexpected outcomes and the unclear path Jing Shu takes. Just because she's reborn doesn't mean she knows everything and is omniscient.

It's refreshing to see her grow and she is unlike a "typical" ancient woman quietly and meekly staying in her boudoir.

It's a satisfying read and those who deserve it have all received their retribution in the end.

A good read to pass time while in quarantine!

I found the novel is really interesting and good. The translator also do a very good job so I found it easy to read.

I feel sad about FL, the only one whom she can trust only his brother and her maid. How she act around her family is somewhat interesting. But after I read it further,

the FL reborn to be a bit stubborn and capricious, I mean plus her past life she's older right? I don't get it, why she like to offend people around with her sharp mouth. Showing that she's not afraid of power and nobility, which is reckless. Especially with the emperor grandson that give her a chance to meet the doctor (her future husband) who can heal her twin brother eyes. Thought there's a reason why she's being a bit rude, I feel like she's like white eye wolf.

I MTLed the entire thing, which is doable and understandable.

This is a quite a good one. Not very romance-centric but has a good dose of it especially towards the end.

I really appreciate how much more dynamic most, if not all, of the characters were. These are not your regular cannon fodders (well there are a few but not much time is given to them) regularly present in c-novels, the author was able to write in their POVs enough to be able to give you a glimpse of their perspectives, no... more>> matter how crooked they are.

I really like how imperfect both the main characters and villains are, that they are humans driven by emotions and motivations both good and bad. There were some parts that I didn't agree with how FL was too vindictive with her actions but I clump it together with how "imperfect" they are. There were also characters that were bad to the bone till the end but still had regrets, but also some that had their redemption in one way or another.

The romance is quite a slow burn here, which is easily explained in the first few chapters

, the romance between the main characters finally developed on the last few hundred chapters. There is quite a lot of focus on the imperial harem and political intrigue here, to the point that I kind missed the MCs a bit for some time, but I understand it's part of the bigger picture of a better-written story (and I am just biased on the romance stuff, lol).

The plot development is also paced well, and most twists seem grounded and logical (if you look away from the original premise of the story which was to get revenge on EVERYONE that has driven FL to her death in her previous life, that is). If anything one of my surprises was how long

This novel is almost perfect.

I love how they chose to not make the female lead OP despite of being reborn, as well as how it reflects on the theme of revenge, carefully considering who deserves which retribution and who shouldn't be dragged by other's misdeeds.

The main couple go through a lot of dificulties, but this is one of the novels I've read with most sweet and intimate moments, also it depicts their affection in a very beautiful and detailed way.

The female lead goes through different arcs that help her grow... more>> and overcome all her handicaps. The novel is not too long and not too short, and each passage has its purpose towards the main goal of the protagonist as well as every situation is entangled with how she's changed not only her fate but the fate of others. <<less

I binged read 1-20, sleeping hours? What sleeping hours? ???? It's very good, and the tragic backstory was slowly revealed as we grow to know the MC better. Which actually made it even more sadder.

Legit cried at some point.

I'm really hoping that this novel translations will be resumed soon.

It's a great revenge novel! Similar but also so very different from other novel of the genre. You can really experience the growth of the FL throughout the different arcs and plots. In terms of taste the FL is not my type but she makes a great FL. The ML is awesome! There are some characters I didn't like and wonder the value of having them. And for some others, I felt the retribution weren't fair.

like the FL's first husband. It would have been better for him to know about his first life at some point. I know he never meant to abandoned her initially but he should have known the consequences of acquiescing to his family decision. Ultimately he wasn't innocent and I thought it was unfair from him to walk away without knowing what happened in his first life

So far, the story's the usual MC with a tragic past reincarnates in time to prevent that tragedy. Her circumstances and what happened to her later are quite sad. She has the worst luck in her in-laws, from the pe*ophile father-in-law to creepy stalker brother-in-law to a scheming bit*h mother-in-law... Initially, the ex-husband was shown to be hateful. But some of the plot opens in Ch. 23 - now, I am somehow rooting for her husband! Poor things - got separated by their own loved ones! That hateful princess stole someone's husband even when the guy was unwilling. I feel MC's heart will be healed a bit if she's made aware of her husband's pitiful circumstances...
