When Xiang Yu met Jin Fubai for the first time he took off his expensive shirt, casually crumpled it up, and handed it to her sitting on the ground.

reading this novel is worth it.

there are no vicious cannon fodders, no drama, no s*upid characters, no rivals.

it was really nice story, what I really liked most is that the ML is sooooooooooo gentle I fell for him. And the author didn't make the character of ML as someone cold, ruthless and so on. He is really a gem. He cherishes and respects the FL so much.

even the FL is realistic, understanding, when she realized that she loved him and even though it might jeopardize their present relationship she still... more>> went and expressed her feelings. And not just her many other characters also never shied away from their feeling they say it directly without creating any misunderstandings.

another thing what I really liked was that the author didn't make the male bestfriend of FL as love interest. The author let him be as a friend/brother showing that men and women can actually be friend. it was heartwarming and extras are must to be read they make the story even more heartwarming. I really wish there are more novels like this.

for me, it's honestly more of 3.5-4 stars. The novel pacing is good and the author does a good job with the story flow as well as the few flashbacks towards the end even with mtl.

For those looking for pure fluff and cuteness, this is not it, this is a story about a fresh graduate who is more mature than her peers and a second-generation 28 y/o man who take a liking to each other and agree to be in a more casual relationship which after a while doesn't seem... more>> to work for her so she wanted a clean break-and they did. however, he found himself unable to let go of her and knowing the risks he decided to take a step further. tbh I hate reading novels where an ML is a playboy or even a former playboy however, thanks to the authors skillfully writing and focus on the plot it didn't bother me ht his past was for the most part-and after seeing how he treated her I was completely fine. there was not a moment he did anything bad as a lover. he was so unbelievably patient and cherished her. they never argued and always spent quality time. he respected her and never tried to throw money n her face or do things that made her unhappy.

this novel also made me see those group of prodigals in another way too, although they were born wealthy they do not have the freedom to choose their life partners and are forced to live in unhappy relationships throughout their lives suffering and possibly making their other half suffer too. it's definitely sad to be chained against your will but ofc it doesn't make them any nobler in my eyes I can only sympathize a bit at most.

the ending is a happy one for sure and in fact pretty open. I feel like a lot of time in the middle was wasted tho... humans are s*upid.

i loved the mature and realistic MC, I could relate to her so much.

EDIT; I realized that the main story is 43 chapters and there seem to be 11 extras? I tried looking for it everywhere but couldn't find it. so the ending is not open and there might be a lot more going on after they finally got together again <<less

Jin Fubai pampering Xiang Yu is a dream. I love the development of their relationship. Change is indeed constant. I re-read it again just to make me feel happy after reading a depressing novel.

NOTE: Don't just read the epilogue. The extra stories (Chapter 44-50) are very heartwarming [update about their circle of friends, wedding, life after reunion] and you'll miss out if you skip them. Google the Chinese title + Chinese name of author, then MTL. Google Translate for this novel is not too bad.❤️

it really depicts the reality of falling in love with someone out of your league in which the future is uncertain yet cannot stop ourself for falling in love

both MCs really love each other and knew that their future is uncertain but is willing to try for the relationship!

The synopsis is eye catching enough to grab attention. He's like a long street with no end in sight. I love their love, which is apparently non-binding, even though the 2 leads' are committed to each other. FL's reality check- this love could have no ending, but still willing to sink into the love of her lifetime is worthy of my respect. In the end the ML's courage to leave everything behind just to be with the love of his life, makes the a perfect story.

(tbh it's probably a 5 after reading all the extras. I really love this novel.)

4.5 rounded up because I'm a hoe for a committed love story like some 60s black and white old Hollywood movie, and if you're not, then honey just avoid and don't rate because you are in the wrong library section. Right next to this book, I'm pretty sure it's "the notebook" or something.

Honestly it's not tragic and the leads are really really lovable. Not to mention that all the other characters are real. But... more>> seriously, the leads were the only reason I like this because honestly it's probably a very cliche romantic story. And I just can't help but still love it because I love them, truly. Such a good head on their shoulders, the both of them despite being so in love.

If you're a sucker for a good old fashioned committed romance story, then I recommend. Like I said, move on if not. It is cliche but I still like the plot tbh. Yes it has it's little unrealistic flaws but it's ok.

ngl besides the fact she waited for 5 years, I mean I know they didn't ask each other to, but also c'mon technology has come so far in those years that they didn't have to go so cold turkey. But honestly if you've ever been in love with someone, I get it, it might have been more difficult to keep in touch especially since they didn't want to hold each other back while having tacit understanding of waiting for each other. So it is understandable. BUT THE AMNESIA. That is where I took off the.5 because that's top cliche. I mean I still was sad about it、but don't worry, it's literally for a second. I am just smh in principle, but the amnesia was so quick and short that it was forgivable.

it's not as dogblood as you think. It's just well written for a sense of movement and tension from external factors that are ignored for an overall incredibly soft display of love for the whole novel. Not once do our leads treat each other with anything less than kindness, gentleness, and love. Everyone else is just their foil (they're all well written characters don't worry but I mean our leads are the winners in the end).

Man I really do love them. And I hope you do too if you're a sucker for a romance story. <<less

Totally love the nuance in this novel. The plot is good and the romance is chef kiss woo hoo. The s*xual tension is so realll between FL and ML. Definitely recommended

I really really love this novel, I think it's one of the best novels out there.

The female lead and male lead have amazing personalities, the female lead has a very uncommon personality differing from female leads I see in novels these days, she has a refreshing, calm kind of personality while the male lead is such a caring male lead. Though I dislike how the author describes him earlier on which create some misunderstandings due to his playboy nature, I think after reading through the rest of the chapters I... more>> finally understood.

The plot is amazing, though I don't really like the middle of the story, it just didn't seem to fit right and it felt very rushed and it didn't display the female and male lead's thoughts clearly. I wish I could get more of the male leads emotions to be shown. Other than that though, everything else was very well thought out.

I know how some may not like the idea of memory loss, but I think that was the thing that hit hard in the end, without the memory loss there would be nothing to stirr emotions and create a more deep bond between the male lead and the female lead.

I really liked the first 8 chapters or so--seemed quite light hearted and slice of life-y. Then it got to some silly drama about relationship status and finally it hit me that the MC is only 21. I thought I could overlook this since the MC is apparently "mature" for her age.... But realistically speaking, I don't know what kind of decent almost 30 year old man would date a 21y.o fresh grad considering their different stages in life. The pampering from ML was sweet at first, but it seemed... more>> to be too much (like how does he go from airport to being behind her in the same scene?!). Not sure if the MC has much to offer other than being a beautiful non-gold digger who likes to game. Dropped for now.. <<less

I loved this!!! This is so good. It’s not dragged out and the ML is one I’d die for😍😍... of course only if he treats me like he treats the FL😅😅. The FL is also realistic. I really appreciate the character growth for all the characters in this novel even the supporting characters🥹🥹. The story is a lot more realistic except maybe the part about how the rich fight for inheritance and how they spend. But then again, I’m not that rich so what do I know🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I am 5 minutes past finishing this novel and emotions are running high, so I shall ramble.

I am not sure who to recommend this to. I want this novel to get more recognition but I also don't want it to get hate from anyone unfamiliar with the genre.

If you say the novel doesn't have much plot apart from the main leads, you'd be wrong. Instead of whole chapters on side characters, we're given glimpses of their lives and struggles in scant paragraphs. That, I think, makes it more poignant. Everyone's... more>> the main lead in their life after all, and we are seeing life through Xiang Yu's eyes. Jin Fu Bai is truly one of a kind ML. I love that the author didn't portray him as a chaste pseudo playboy. He is what he is and is unapologetic about it. The relationship between the MC and the ML is probably one of my favourites. There is no struggle to death or the like. Just two people unwilling to forget and trying to stay close.

There's no hauntingly beautiful prose or a plot that's so compelling that I won't even move before I finish this. But reading this novel was truly worth the hours of sleep I lost. I'll probably come back to read this again when I am boiling with stress and need something that'll let me cry and feel happy afterwards.

4/5 score for MTL, no nerves were frazzled when I mtl'ed this.
