I've tried to continue reading through this till the end but I found myself just gradually disliking this novel over time for various reasons. The only good thing about this novel was the interesting plot of visiting the future and bringing it back to the present but author pushes that out of importance and only starts to use it as a convenient cheat tool to explain how Lu Sheng, the MC, gets so powerful but he never goes into depth regarding this strange ability or explores the future world at... more>> all.

After the initial hundred or so chapters it starts to show the common faults of Chinese novels. It becomes noticeable when the author starts to write for the sake of filling the word count when most of the chapters consists of fillers that add no substance to the actual story and things feel rather repetitive. For example, it's not uncommon for nearly an entire chapter to literally just consist only of explaining the MC's very cool entrance into a venue, giving wordy nonsensical flourishes, and about how the gawking audience reacts to said MC, further explaining how cool he is.

Romance is also a complete dumpster fire. Even though it was heavily implied that a harem is coming from the future biography saying he has multiple wives and also several heroines showing up throughout the story it ends up being completely ruined because the author basically just threw away all of that and instead double downs on creating a rather forced, awkward love. It read like a 3rd grade student was asked to write a romance story. There's basically no substance within the relationship. No real foreshadowing was done nor was there was foundation for a romance to form. Interactions between the two are bare-minimum to say the least, at the level of acquaintances at the same workplace. Hell, he's even been with the other girls for longer than he has with the heroine.

The last point I'd like to mention is the MC himself. In this novel, it feels like MC just grows downward into your typical arrogant young master that's also an extreme narcissist. As as reader you're told that everything MC does is right and justified. He beats up everyone and everything that doesn't agree with him. Caution and consequences don't exist in his head. The author repeatedly tells you that he's not a evil guy but that he's a normal guy who does both good and bad but his actions speak otherwise. The author also feels the constant need to state how cool, handsome, perfect the MC is to the point that it's the equivalent of masturbating in front of the mirror to yourself.

Please note, the main character isn't a fire relayer. Or at least he isn't willing to give up information until HE is the expert/Hero because at that point he doesn't need it. The MC does no wrong (mainly because he does nothing most of the time) and it is natural for people to like him. He is just a narcissist through and through. He isn't talented, but after relying on the cheat he is given he starts to believe he is. Romance has the same attribute as before, it is... more>> natural for people to like him so in a way there is none.

Welp the rest of it being the world building or the power system is extremely generic and average.

If the novel could only decentralize the MC (where there are other characters to root for) then I feel like it could shoot up to maybe even a 4. However, as it stands the relationship and characters are all 1 dimensional. <<less

It doesn't matter that the world building is too simple, or that the cultivation progress isn't too well written, the superstar of this work is the protagonist's character development!

About two hundred chapters in, it's an absolute pleasure to read. I haven't been laughing so much in a long time. Power corrupts, and the protagonist changes under the influence of growing power as well, but his behavior and thought are sometimes just priceless.

Is it a masterpiece? No. Is it worth reading? Absolutely.

This is one of favorite novel recently. Strong MC, interesting cheat, and no arrogant young master.

The nationalism is pretty mild. No unreasonable hate towards other countries. China got special treatment from the MC but the MC didn't just abandon people from other countries.

The biggest downfall of modern martial arts cultivation novel is when the MC leaves Earth and travels to other planet but this novel nailed it. The space arc really feels like a sci-fi martial art cultivation novel. I like it more than when MC was still on Earth.

The... more>> only thing I don't like is the romance. The MC and the heroine was just a normal acquaintance at first, not too close, no romantic feelings towards each other. Suddenly after they met again, they are already madly in love with each other.

If you like modern martial art cultivation with strong MC, I would recommend checking this one out. <<less

I think it's pretty good, it's a level up system (not literally) where the MC is almost OP and constantly gets stronger. There's only a slight romance (which is pretty fluffy) and no harem. It's also just pretty funny and comedic (which most manhua are anyway e.g. Eternal supreme) so a great way to waste time?

There is an absolutely horrible romance line, which is hard to even call a romance line - it's a mockery of the reader and common sense. Well, and the second standard aspect of the whole story - the shock of all the people around. Maximally puppet and empty characters who think not as individual personalities but as a single mind. This is not a bad story that could have potentially been a worthy and classic in its genre, but the author did everything to destroy interest.

OP MC, has common sense and doesn't go super crazy from being strong. Cares about his people but to a limited extent and doesn't do anything dumb because of it.

Romance: feels contrived, some bs talk about it being fate. As of about chapter 275 is when it really gets started.

This one's a good read, which reminds me of a combined World's Best Martial Artist and World's Apocalypse Online. FWO's translation is top notch and guaranteed for you to grow more brain cells compared to other fly by night translating groups out there. I started reading the novel after binging on the manhwa which is called Apex future martial arts. Here's hoping they stick to finish the translation. Let's support FWO!!! 👍

Mediocre story. Subpar setting/world building, but not anything particularly egregious. Main character starts out very bland, makes a few weird turns, then firms up and doesn't pursue the harem route, which is nice, but also becomes even more bland. The writer isn't extraordinarily intelligent, and it shows in the power mechanics, but everything is solid enough. There's some rug pulls in the setting of how the future knowledge plays out, to the point where the title is very questionable (you can tell the author didn't plan the plot twist). One... more>> thing that really gets me is that the author really has no concept of martial arts at all, as the MC constantly complains about how difficult it is to control his power, when his realm of martial arts is supposed to be control on a nano level, and how his opponents are all too weak, when the power in-setting means that a person should be able to read twitches and even use their mind to estimate the strength of an opponent at the beginning stages, and at higher levels involves moving the nomological force of the universe, basically fighting with souls. Regardless of tier, fighters should be able to grasp the approximate strength of their opponents as well as themselves and it really makes the MC look bad that he doesn't know his own strength.

Pros: relatively fast paced plot, and no actual harem, even if there's targets at every corner.

Cons: bland protagonist with inconsistent character, really rushed world building, very little tension.

Overall it's readable, but not particularly novel in any way. <<less

This is an enjoyable Gary Stu cultivation novel. The romance is very subtle but it is there unlike the previous comments I have found there is polygamy in the novel there is no lovey dovey harem however.

Highly recommend for a good story.
