Qiong Cang is basically a human magnet for psychopaths. I’m not sure if that counts as a compliment or an insult, that depends on your perspective I guess.

Girly is cold but not heartless. In fact she’s quite empathetic as she openly expressed her distaste and abhorrence of characters in the story who act as if they were the victim or act as if they played no part in turning what could have been an ordinary person into a criminal. Also she’s got some humor which makes for funny interactions with... more>> the ML. She says some really incredible things that will leave a mark in your head, her opinions and insights towards the issues tackled in the novel is just that eye-opening because these are crimes that could actually happen in real life. <<less

A rather interesting mu*der mystery VR game where the MC is placed in the identity of an important character and has to solve the crime. Each crime is interlinked with each other and her own past to form a giant conspiracy that's been shadowing them for years.

Firstly, there's a lot of suspension of disbelief needed. It's not quite so much plot holes but rather accepting the state of the world of the novel. The state of the art VR experience (accurate npc behaviour, basically indistinguishable from reality) vs the technology... more>> state of the world which is exactly the same of ours.
Spoiler

the huge conspiracy of influenced mu*ders and framing over decades orchestrated by one person

[collapse]
. All of this has to be accepted as the state of the novels world to truly just enjoy the novel.

The crimes were entertaining to be solved, even in MTL the prose was smooth. MC is a fun character who is a good example of being emotionally cold but also human. ML was also very entertaining and even though romance only occured towards the end and after the main plot, they had a fun dynamic that kept the novel flowing.

There are flaws but in general it's a very easy novel to read without straining your brain and has lovable enough leads and side characters to not sink the plot <<less

In a nutshell: a must read.
    • The MC is whip smart, strong, and a bit of a troll lol.
    • The ML is supportive and genuinely a good guy.
    • The other characters are well-described and layered. Each feel like they could be real people even if the scenarios they encounter are pretty wild.
    • The romance isn't central to the story but the ML is a part of the MC's life from early in the story and we watch their relationship slowly change from work partners to friends to confidantes to eventually lovers.
    • The plot is well-woven and immensely gripping. The foreshadowing is well done but the reveals still leave you gasping. There's several episodic mu*der mystery plots that all tie into the bigger overarching plot.

I was a bit wary of starting with this novel because most mu*der/ mystery/ horror novels I have read have been BLs with a few exceptions that turned out to be not good at all.

Fortunately, I started this novel and MTLed it entirely!!!!! This is an excellent novel with MC investigating real world crimes in VR games. There's a logical sequence to everything. She goes through the usual steps of investigating the crime scene, questioning witnesses and suspects multiple times, observing various routes and following through a T to come... more>> to a logical explanation. She is super OP in investigations and she shines through the entire story.

ML is more like a loyal side kick. He is a super tech expert, leader of the team that has developed this VR experience. He is an average investigator and mostly follows around MC, assisting her in investigations. This is a refreshing change over a super OP ML who knows everything, sometimes even better than the MC.

Their romance is very subtle. It starts of slow and ML falls for her unknowingly. Same for MC. The extras describe the romance (sort of) rather than the main book. There's a bit of suspense/ action at the end. The mu*der mysteries are intriguing with twists and turns. However, I realised the main villain in the book around the same time MC postulates the main villain profile. It was kinda predictable but with MC's help lol.

Mystery lovers should absolutely not miss this novel at all.

T/L has done a fantastic job - 5/5.

MTL is also pretty easy to read and understand. <<less

Eehh... I really tried to read this novel and all but... It became really draggy... And as the story had gone on, the MC's brain started to become so hm, dumb?

I understand the author wanted to portray a traumatized genius, but seriously, what the f*ck. It was really annoying to see such a starfish MC. She does nothing and the world works to her way, a-ma-zing.

Spoiler

I jumped to the last chapters because I couldn't stand it anymore, and yeah, she did try to act, and that almost killed her and 3 other people, bah.

I dislike selfish people the most.

The views of moral from the author are also questionable at best.

[collapse]

Ps. You may have a different view to this work, I disliked mostly because:

1. It was reaaaally draggy;

2. There was romance;

3. Fine, there is romance, but why must the man grovel and beg for affection? Is that how you guys like it? An unequal standing of a couple?

So yeah, I really dislike such dynamics. <<less

I really like the unique temperament of the MC and how the ML and MC don't overshadow each other.

Mystery is always great anyway.

Alright I'm loving the MC so far. She's cold and decisive, different from the usual main character's reaction when stuck in a predicament, which is to complain and curse anyone and everyone involved. As for the concept, it's very unique and the translated chapters so far is entertaining to read. Looking forward for more. It has a lot of potential and I might just mtl this, I'll update my review if I did.

What a brilliantly written novel!

I like pretty much everything about this novel, from it's clear plot that doesn't stray far from its storyline to it's not too long but not too short length. And I can't and won't stop talking about the chemistry between MC and ML.

MC is really outstanding. She is part of the high IQ crowd in her own words and from the way she solves different mu*ders we can see why. She is so talented that she attracts highly intelligent psychopaths to herself, often causing other "normal"... more>> people to mistake her as also one of the psychos. Even while trying to find who is out to get her and those around her, she still retains a hilarious relationship with her ML which I really love.

ML, on the other hand is part of the "ordinary" rich crowd. He is very supportive of MC on her quest and basically accompanies her everywhere. He's always there when MC needs him. Despite being a rich CEO he isn't overbearing and his parents are so cute too.

Together they have one of the healthiest relationships I've ever read. Upon reading in this novel, I've found out exactly what type of guy I'd like too.

Just some things I'd like to point out, I don't understand why the villain was targeting MC at all. Also
Spoiler

the guy who kept on saying that MC was a psychopath to everyone was forgiven too easily.

Overall, I want more and more novels of this genre with FMCs. I will be continuing my quest on finding more hidden gems like this novel. <<less

Really a gem!! The story is well written as well as the love development. I even wonder at first how the cold MC will end with ML. But there is gradual development. I want to negate the comment. Since this is a simulation game, the female protagonist is not the only one who gets the main role, other online celebrities (players) get it too but in different platform than her. In short, both her and others can have the role of the main victim. Whereas the another player character/s maybe... more>> anyone in the criminal simulation game.

This is a great episodic novel. Probably, it hurts to read that the scenarios are already happened in reality so you cannot changed it anymore. 😢 You can only change your response and outcome of the game. But I like the idea of the writer - to prevent the same tragedy to happen again. Since the generation of people there are too bias and the news broadcasted are one sided. <<less

Excellent read with a solid MC and hilarious well-matched ML. The overall premise is MC entering various dungeons based on criminal cases that have already occurred to discover potentially new leads. The dungeons are related to one actual ongoing criminal case that is the main plot of the entire story.

This is very typical Tuige's book with vivid minor characters, hilarious dialogue, and sudden angst that cuts you deep. No worries, it's an HE. Also featuring a great reversal of typical gender roles for this genre, usually you get the genius... more>> detective ML with some brain conditions and the Female Lead being the supporting sidekick/life manager. NOT HERE. Here, our MC is the crazed genius one solving cases but lacking any basic life skills and our ML being the handsome rich malewife feeding her and tucking her into bed. IT'S AWESOME.

I also like how even though there's one main psychotic villain, most of the tragedies in these cases were committed by normal regular people driving by your typical greed etc. All mundane and relatable.

Also want to add that the VR platform used in this book, Sanyao, is actually an element linking several of Tuige's others books, most of them interstellar-based, so the technology timeframe here is definitely futuristic. <<less

I do like this book for the mysteries and the characters overall. I think it's cool to see the FL work through the clues and solve the mysteries and think outside the box. I wish the romance was better though. The ML is desperate for the FL. He has to bend over backwards and beg for her love. I think the other guy, her student, would have been a better love interest. Even though he wasn't, I think that they would have a more equal relationship because they both have... more>> been through a lot and came out the other side. The ML is a nice and wholesome guy but I think he would have fit someone else better because the relationship was very unequal. I would have also liked to read more about the FL parent's love story. Overall, most of the characters were really well written and good. I just had to gloss over the romance because it was off putting for me. <<less

Story has a unique setting of transmigration, at the beginning the first arc looked like a cliche but the reviews were raving about it so I MTLd up till the first arc and WOW it was the best decesion like you know those stories you read where the author keeps telling you that the FMC is very smart and she's a genius and such but looking at her plans it literally doesn't feel like it at all and FMC's just really dumb and the other characters are just dumber to... more>> make her look better in comparison?

This is Nothing like that

Our MC is genuinely very smart and what makes this novel top tier is that she's got really good EQ too, like she's not emotionally stunted, her psychoanalysis of the happening around her makes her a very fun to read character

The side characters don't feel like filler at all, they all have their own story which are very intriguing on their own too

Give this novel a chance, you won't regret <<less
