This is the translator here~

Like what the genre of 'Infinite Flow' and the title of the novel suggests, this story is not necessarily for the faint-hearted. The entire premise of the novel centres around a Survival Game "mu*der Mystery" wherein there's a detective, one real mu*derer, and a cast of people with scripted 'normal identities' who also possess mu*derous intentions and have to ensure that they're not punished for the mu*der they did not commit. The catch is that, compared to the likes of our modern day Cluedo, Among Us or Werewolf/Mafia, the consequences of failing to catch the real mu*derer is visceral. In essence, it is a recipe for complications: mu*derers will lie, relationships will complicate matters, the system the game functions under is a mystery and everyone will... more>> try to survive. This story tangles a lot with the subject of morality, worth and what constitutes as 'crime and sin'.

Nonetheless, I hope that won't throw you off and you'll still enjoy the story! It's a novel with a lot of intrigue with its twists and turns, there's some dog-blooded scripts that render our cast speechless (it's frankly hilarious to see them roast it), and the dynamics between Gu Liang (MC) and Yang Ye (ML) when they're bouncing off each other to solve the case, with teasing and banter slipped in between, which honestly lightens up the mood and make you fall for their characters because you can see how they work as a couple. It's communication, it's gradual understanding, it's not giving up on each other, not even if death wanted to do them part. You are forewarned that their romance is on the side of a slow burn, but I promise they will get there and it's absolutely worth it.

Another aspect I love about the novel (and why I ended up translating it) is that the author is wholly unrepentant about making her characters flawed and realistic, which suits this morally gray premise well. Without giving too much away, our MC Gu Liang, has and will commit mistakes, and he has issues that he needs to work through. His perspective will be flawed at times but picking it apart in relation to the people he surrounds himself with makes for an interesting read. But the biggest selling point of the novel for me is that, while the ML helps the MC through these issues, he ultimately saves himself; his character growth, especially mentality wise, is incredibly palpable and heart-warming.

Sincerely, I hope you will come to appreciate and like the novel as much as I'm invested to translate it to the end :) <<less

Uh, I don't have much to say about this novel. Please take my reviews with a sprinkle of salts, because it's only due to my own personal judgment. I have read this novel until the 3rd case, which is around chapter 40 or something I forgot the exact chapter, and what made me stop reading this novel and put it down is because of my impression towards the ML.

The MC is good, has an interesting character setting, and unlike other OP MCs, the MC here really is just a normal person, working hard to think to solve the case and escape the bloody mu*der mystery, without any additional cheat ability or luck. Even his background setting and his past are very interesting. In my opinion, MC here really put the novel in a real sense.

Towards the ML, however, my impression towards him was worn down already in the second case. The first thing that I found disagreeable towards him is how: He, likes the MC, but when the MC who was from the start has always been showing as a straight man gave a look that he felt repulsed by homosexual, the ML went dejected, got angry, felt sad, and ran away, waiting to be coaxed.

I mean, oh, I understand that the ML must have felt sad because the MC whom he somehow fancy is actually repulsed with the homosexual. The sad feeling must have been worse than just knowing the person you like didn't like you back.

Even so, his action of running away is definitely a coward.

I don't know, it felt like the ML's action make it seems as if it's the MC's fault that he felt repulsed by homosexuals, but in fact, we really can't judge someone who was repulsed by homosexuals as bad. Because just like how gay become gay for many reasons, those who are repulsed by homosexuality also has many reasons to be repulsed.

Meanwhile, the MC, despite having the feeling of being repulsed of homosexuals, has never done or said something bad towards gay themselves, neither hating them nor mocking them. Not inside his mind, and of course not in words or action.

By running away I feel like the ML was being biased and judgemental towards the MC as a person who felt repulsed of homosexuality. It's as if, the ML directly judged the MC simply seemed to be repulsive to the topic of homosexuality hence he must be a person who felt repulsed to all gays.

But, he never consider the reason why the MC felt repulsed, to begin with. Disregarding anything, the ML fell into a depressing state, sulking, sad, avoiding the MC, and definitely showing a blatant action that "Hey, I have something on my mind, and I'm avoiding you now. You should realize that I'm avoiding you, so you can coax me here."

His running away makes the MC feel bad and felt the need to coax him, thus revealing his painful past of why he felt repulsed towards homosexuals, that is because his father was a drag queen. An irresponsible scum at that! Running away with his boyfriend after marrying MC's mother, and having a child with her simply to continue the bloodline of his family. Additionally, the MC once had almost been harassed by a gay mol*ster in a public place.

ML's actions have successfully made the MC not only : recall those painful and perhaps even shameful memories, but even has to SAY IT OUTRIGHT towards a person he met in just 3 days in a God knows what environment, in order to coax the ML and let him understands the MC did not hate all gays.

Wow, oh wow. I feel indignant toward this kind of ML!

What do you think will happen if the MC's past that makes him feel repulsed towards homosexuals was because he has been r*ped by one?

The ML's childish and whimsical action will successfully force the MC to recall his painful past when he's being humiliated! And would have successfully forced him to tell a secret he should not have said towards someone he knew in only 3 days!

I feel like the ML is, very much, disappointing by this point.

Despite being said as a third-generation, an executive, a business tycoon, etc, his mentality felt too childish in my opinion, oh no it should be immature I suppose? Because sometimes someone who is childish in nature can actually be mature in thinking and mentality.

I wonder, if the MC is not smart and observant, thus realizing the ML might have misunderstood his reaction, what would happen?

If the MC is slightly less observant, then know nothing about what happened and what the ML had been thinking, suddenly the next day the ML avoiding him, treating him differently, or even worse alienating him, what would the MC feel by then?

The MC is someone who has PTSD, his family is kind of chaotic, and he also has mild if not serious mental problems. With that kind of past, when the ML suddenly avoided him without any CLEAR reason, how much pressure would the MC feel by then? He might be thinking: what did he do wrong, what happened, is something wrong with him, etc.

If the MC is slightly less observant towards the ML throughout the day as well, the ML's IMMATURE action of being prejudiced, running away, and waiting to be coaxed, might hurt the MC deeper!

This kind of action got me annoyed, because, the ML is the gay man who falls in love with the MC. Knowing that the MC is straight, he must have understood what kind of possibility to fall in love with a straight man, right? And yet, despite everything, his action when the MC showed a hint that he felt repulsed toward homosexuals, the ML made it feel like the MC has hurt the ML, the ML make it as if the MC is the bad guy for not being a gay, and for being repulsed.

Does he think everyone should be gay!? Does he think everyone should be understanding towards homosexuals!? Does he think everyone who felt repulsed by homosexuals is a bad person!?

To be honest, the ML acted exactly like a gay who was being biased that every person who felt repulsed by homosexuality is bad, without considering what kind of reasons they felt repulsed in the first place. It irked me so much.

Lastly, is the ML's action to play dead, yeah that's right, playing dead by pretending to be drowned in a lake.

This action itself has been played often, I understand that this kind of joke is kind of normal in some sense. However! This joke can only be done towards those who are close to you, who have known you for a long time, and you have known them for a long time as well, for the joke to be considered normal.

For ML to play this kind of joke towards MC, whom he only met a few days ago, a person he didn't even know what occupation did he have, it's really..... exasperating and honestly, making me wonder about his immature mentality or if perhaps he's simply imbecile.

This, once again makes me doubt ML's past about being an executive in a company, about being smart, etc, because his action showed that he's having difficulty in interpersonal relationships, showing how ML lacks so much EQ!

For example, you can joke to kick and slap your best friend whom you know for years or for quite some time. But, you absolutely can not joke to kick and slap someone whom you only met for 3 days, because it's considered rude. You can kick and slap your best friend because both of you have already understood each other, but towards someone new, you can't do that, because what if that person has mysophobia and did not like touching others? What if that person has some kind of disease that would cause a danger when being kicked or slapped? etc.

That's one of example how a person maintains their interpersonal relationship. So, when the ML pretended to be drowned, when he didn't know anything about MC's past, is the proof that he's lacking in that department.

I know, with that being said, the ML felt more real instead, with his several weakness.

However, once again, this kind of ML is not my cup of tea.

I'm reading a novel to satisfy my desire to read a fascinating scenario, not a scenario where I constantly frowned and felt dissatisfied towards the character. This is just my pure opinion and review of this novel's character.

As for the plot, well, the author is really good to write a simple case-solving into an entirely different taste, so I give my praise for that. The case itself, however, perhaps because I'm a mystery and horror literature lover, the case in this novel until the 3rd case, is not that fascinating to me since I have read many other more mind-blowing cases.

My 4 star is dedicated towards how the author is able to write something with a different taste and towards the translator's effort.

the story has been interesting. Both the MC and ML are flawed, complex, and very human. Both are smart and quick thinking, though they think in different ways. One gets obsessed with the details and one is better at the bigger picture, and the two together are very strong. I really enjoyed the first 3/4 of the novel.

as for the end

Spoiler

it started going downhill once the ML discovered that they were "already dead." not much longer after that, the ML is taken away and we lose the banter and lively dynamic between the two that kept the instances interesting. Once he was gone, I found the story quality dropped and became less engaging. I didn't find the final instances interesting even with the ML as an NPC, but its possible that was just due to burnout. Then the ML is sent back to the real world with his memory erased, a trope I intensely dislike, and so I was very unhappy with the story direction even before the MC was told he had to undergo some tests and might not be able to leave.

and then there was everything they put the MC through afterwards "for his own good" before he could return. I have very strong opinions when people force that kind of crap on others IRL, and I have even less tolerance for it in novels or dramas. It made me really loathe Mingyue and the system, and I wasn't liking them much to begin with. Tbh, if I had known that they would do this to the MC at the start, I probably never would have read this story to begin with.
There's also so much DRAMA in the afterwards that I was tempted to rate this at least a star lower out of pure pique. The MC spends chapters and chapters being wish-washy about giving the ML the water and he eventually just takes it. I read up until he got his memory back and then I stopped reading because I have absolutely zero desire to read anything more about Mingyue, who reminds me of someone I know (and whom I want nothing to do with) IRL.
[collapse]

for me, the beginning was a 4.5, most of it was a 4, but the last quarter of the story is on the lower end of 3. I rated it a 4 anyways because regardless of whether or not the ending triggered me, regardless of my dislike for certain actions or characters, the writing and the story was solid. <<less

Let's say that the card in the game give the characters a role to 'act' and there is so many rules to follow to the point you will feel pointless. It give a loophole for 'players' during the 'act scenarios' the 'player or actors' talk about their role that you will feel that there something wrong but you don't know where?

Just give me a feeling of... 'what's the point of 'acting' if you share with others? There no exciting going on. Useless for 'me' there no feeling for 'mystery and horror' boring.

Rather than a lot of other unlimited flow novels, where it's mostly PVE/players vs NPCs, LAMM is more PVP in a way where it feels like both a mystery novel as well as a deception/bluffing board game. Deducing the real mu*derer & solving the mystery take priority here. I really like it, but there's definitely a reason why this novel isn't tagged 'thriller' or 'horror', and people should be aware of that before reading.

There's an active "acting" segment for characters to carry out their mu*der attempts before the deductive part,... more>> and IMO the acting segment is there for the players to develop a familiarity with the world, to try and find loopholes, etc. It's not pointless, but it also isn't the focus of each Script -- it's there to help the players familiarise themselves with the background material, and to help them spot what other players might be lying about later on.

Almost everyone (minus the Detective) is an attempted mu*derer, but most of those mu*ders don't work out for some reason or another, and so the goal is to find the Real mu*derer who actually does manage to kill. However, getting picked as the Real mu*derer results in an intense punishment for the picked player, picking the wrong Real mu*derer leads to the same punishment for the Detective, and almost all players are trying to commit mu*der to begin with, keeping the mutual suspicion high and giving everyone the motive to cooperate and prevent themselves from being wronged. Similarly, since the Real mu*derer's goal is to stay hidden, they're also forced into mutual cooperation, since otherwise they could just be voted out by the other players for being suspicious.

As such, an interesting deductive reasoning game ensues, wherein the other players (suspected mu*derers/red herrings) have to attempt to shift blame off of themselves and prove themselves innocent of the Real mu*der, and the Real mu*derer (or mu*derers) has to whitewash themselves and obfuscate their timeline in a plausible manner to keep from being detected.

In a way, this novel's progress reminds me of Deception: mu*der in Hong Kong (and other similar board games), wherein everyone has potential mu*der methods assigned to them and the goal is to find the real mu*derer.

MC & ML both have flaws. Yeah, I do think that the ML pulling the MC into the lake as a "joke" was incredibly s*upid and overly familiar. I do think that some of his actions weren't appropriate, and that the ML was somewhat pushy, and overly jealous.

However, a character should have flaws. If you remove all of his character flaws, the ML becomes a Perfect Non-Criminal Sunny Rich 2nd Gen With Great IQ And OP Military Training Strength Who Is Also Very Friendly And Loquacious And A Good Cook And Nice. I'm exaggerating a little, but seriously. Flaws are what it takes to be human, and perfect characters are as dull as dull can get. As for the criticisms of ML's character and calling him a 'coward' and him 'childish' from another reviewer:

Spoiler

Another reviewer mentioned that the ML was a coward and childish to avoid the MC after the MC seemed repulsed by the topic of homosexuality. I want to ask this reviewer: why does your sympathy only extend towards the MC? Like, seriously, what the hell is that? And where has your common sense gone?

The ML's crush on the MC, at that point, isn't actually known to the MC, who's dense and also extremely self-deprecatory (à la "I don't deserve happiness"). They've also only known each other for one and a bit of a script -- a couple of days, basically. We as the readers may suspect that there's a deeper reason for the MC to be repulsed by the topic, but as the ML, how the f*ck is he supposed to know that the MC isn't just a standard bigot? They don't know each other well. Are you expecting the ML to be a f*ckin' mindreader?

Note that the ML doesn't go out of his way to be a d*ck to the MC, nor does he do anything particularly bad aside from avoiding him. So why the f*ck is the MC's so-called mental pressure supposed to be the ML's fault? They've just met, they're new acquaintances, and while the MC doesn't owe the ML an explaination, the ML also doesn't owe the MC one. He doesn't have to out himself as gay in order to placate and coax the MC, and he also doesn't have to put the onus of guessing MC's tragic past on his back.

To discuss the issue of fault: "but what if the MC was repulsed by homosexuals because he was r*ped by one?"

First of all, that sucks. Next, that still has nothing to do with the ML, who, I repeat, is still not a mindreader. Can the MC avoid the topic due to trauma? Yes. Can the ML avoid the MC because of assumed bigotry? Also yes. Does it suck that the MC has trauma? Yes. Is it the ML's fault? No. Does the ML know MC's deep, dark, hidden secrets? Once again, no.

They don't actually owe each other anything at that point in the novel. It's perfectly normal to realise that a new friend might not actually be that compatible. The ML isn't a professionally licensed therapist, ok? Avoiding the MC, a suspected bigot, to maintain his own boundaries isn't a problem.

If you meet someone at the supermarket and have a decent chat, but decide that you don't want to be friends with them for whatever reason, and coincidentally they have mental problems that make them blame themselves, that doesn't make you responsible for their mental problems.

If you date someone and they threaten su*cide when you want to break up, and you haven't actually done anything bad, does it mean that you're childish and whimsical for not wanting to be with them? No, the responsibility doesn't lie on your shoulders.

Let's remove homosexuality from the equation, and change it to mental illness (like the MC) or race, for another hot-potato topic.

Turn this case on its head, and reverse the circumstances. Say that ML is mentally ill, with PTSD and a chaotic past, and is attracted to the MC, who the ML has just met & doesn't know very well. Every time he brings up the topic of "mental illness", the MC shows a disgusted expression and avoids it. Now does the ML have a good reason to avoid the MC? Yes! Does the MC also have a good reason to not like the topic of "mental illness"? Yes, maybe in this mirror-world, the MC's abusive father was mentally ill. Is it either of their faults? No, sorry, that's just bad luck.

Or say that you meet someone that seems great, but soon, you find out that every time someone mentions [race] they show disgust. You happen to be 1/2 or 1/4 that race, but you don't look it. However, it's still very important to you and part of who you are.

Are you obligated to keep being their new friend and ignore your values and self? No. What if they have a traumatic experience due to a person of that race? Again, still no.

So, is it cowardice?

Yo, heads up. First, assigning blame doesn't work that way. Next?

This is a mu*der game, and at script 2, the mu*derers have been shown to receive death penalties. They've known each other for about half a week. Avoiding someone because they seem to hate the minority that you're part of =/= "a childish and whimsical action".

Avoiding someone in a mu*der game that seems to 'hate your type', where the death sentenced people in the first game also have committed horrific crimes (and others, like Brother Bai, admitted to helping in horrible crimes), is called being a rational human being.

The player for the deceased in Script 1, Boss Bai, was a serial rapist that pushed 2 victims to su*cide. The player for the mu*derer in Script 1, Son Bai, was a psychopathic cat torturer who directly killed an old lady. The game seems to indicate that almost all players have committed some sort of "crime" or "wrong".

Bigotry in the real world can often lead to violence, and in a life-threatening game with already risky premises at stake, avoiding someone that seems bigoted isn't "childish" nor "whimsical".

[collapse]

Overall, I think this is really good so far, probably a 4.8 or so for the genre, but I'll gladly round up. It's written fairly well and the logic used is reasonable & shows that the author has planned out the scripts. There aren't obvious incidents of MC or ML being insanely low IQ for no reason, and the same mostly goes for most of the other characters. <<less

I loved this one sooo much. It was a very interesting and good read with just the right amount of fluff and angst. Definitely not a light read, it took me a of brain power to be able to understand some of the arcs. Since it is not fully translated, I read the MTL which was HARDDDDD. This is a novel that I'd reread once it's actually completed so I can feel the true beauty of the writing.

Note to future self--don't even try to reread from the beginning. Just figure it out from where you stopped.

I use these reviews as bookmarks of sorts to know which ones I love (to reread or not) and other notes to self (DNFs, tr*shy ones, smut lol).

This is one where the writing and amount of thought was extremely captivating. To the point it had me hooked reading up to 3am, which, as a functioning working adult contributing to society, I really can't afford to do.

I really fell in love with the... more>> MC and ML and a certain female side character. But dayum this is not a light read. My already stressed out brain was getting a work out reading this, compounded with the fact that I'm basically chicken sh*t when it comes to thriller/horror/mystery, I really am amazed at how far I got. Things weren't really scary but dayum I had goosebumps so many times and had to keep the lights on lol.

I had to keep giving myself a break reading this. (Some YT vids, a few catch ups to some updated fun novels).

I'm stopping at this point because it hits a certain tension in the story where I cannot take it anymore because it directly affects the MC and ML's relationship development. And then I rechecked here and the story hasn't been completely translated. Plus I ended up seeing a spoiler in one of the comments which just confirmed my fears for this.

If ever I decide to read this again someday, hoping I'd be in a better mindspace to do so. But based on the spoiler I read, I don't think I'll ever be in the mood to read on.

Just to vent relating to the spoiler I read which will also contain spoilers:

Spoiler

I really really hate the system and all the crap the MC and ML go through. I kept reading mostly because I was really hoping for the light at the end of the tunnel. And that with the MC and ML realizing their feelings for one another, I was getting even more hopeful. But then we get foreshadowing and like. I get it. Cool story and all. But holy f*ck the spoiler I read confirmed my worst predictions.

That the light in the tunnel is just an artificial bulb flickering on and off. And that there's miles to go still full of mental and emotional twists and turns to torment MC and ML.

And I'm not in the headspace to read it right now especially if I'm not getting a satisfying end. Basically I want the system to just burn and Ming Yue and all the rest to just GET TORMENTED AND OBLITERATE ITSELF IN THE WORST WAY POSSIBLE.

I get it. So many existential hoopla and ponderings on the human psyche and concepts of life and death. What ever. I'm interested in whether the characters I fell in love with get the love and happiness they deserve. And the villains get proper retribution.

I read up to the last chapter of the Rhinoceros Arc and then gave up. Before then, I had already been growing bored of the instances and really only stayed because of the two main characters! However, at the point I stopped, their relationship was pretty much established and everything else seemed superfluous (like the author just extending the story to up the word count). Furthermore, the translator dropped the novel soon after this arc T.T so picking a good place to end things off on a good foot seemed... more>> like the way to go!

CHARACTERS:

The characters are, undeniably, my favorite parts of the story. The main characters, especially, are very well done. They're not exaggerated GongxShou stereotypes and the way they react to the instances and each other is logical based on their character backgrounds, making them feel really realistic!

Gu Liang (MC) : The MC of the story is the tsundere type~ His story starts at the beginning of the first instance. He has no knowledge of how he had joined the game. All he knows is that he was now in a mu*der mystery game that he has no choice but to play.

Minor Spoilers:
Spoiler

The MC has a pretty troubling history, which is why his personality lends more towards the 'cold and distant' type from the outside. In reality, however, he's really kind.

[collapse]

Yang Ye (ML) : Glasses-wearing, smiley daredevil type. He's openly gay and develops an interest in the MC from the beginning. One can say that he is the complete opposite of the MC. Not just in personality, but also in their personal backgrounds.

ROMANCE:

The romance in the story plays out pretty naturally. The Gong!ML falls in love first and dotes on the Tsundere-Shou!MC in hopes that the other would slowly open up to him.

SETTING:

The structure of the instances is very similar to the Mafia or Werewolf game, where players are given a role that they must act out in a restricted location or setting. In this novel, things are a little twisted because, while there is usually only one Detective and one mu*derer, all of the players have their own roles to play as well and may be incited by their set role to attempt to kill the player that has been marked as the "Deceased."

Due to this, there are instances where everyone has at least attempted to kill the Deceased character once, which muddles up the investigation and makes it infinitely more difficult to find the culprit.

Minor Spoilers:
Spoiler

Oh, and it should be said that the players in this case usually have highly questionable moralities. With the MCs suspecting early on that everyone has committed a crime that they 'deserve' to be punished for -- hence the reason why they've been forced to play this hell-mode Mafia/Werewolf game again and again.

[collapse]

PLOT:

The main plot outside of solving the mu*ders mostly involved the development of the main characters, which I loved. In the later arcs, however, there's an underlying mystery that has to do with the System and a side character called Ming Yue (which, to be perfectly honest, didn't really interest me at all, since it seemed like a drama plot.)

RATING:

I really enjoyed the first few arcs of this novel -- since those were spent focusing on developing the characters and the main pair's relationship! Guessing along with the characters during the mu*der-mystery instances was fun at first too, which is why I think the story deserved at least a 4-star in the beginning. However, the further I read, the less enthusiastic I felt. I read some of the other reviews after I gave up reading and found out that the next couple of developments weren't all that good either. So yeh. Altogether, I knocked down my official rating to 3.5 out of 5. Though, of course, it still rounded off to 4 because of the review restrictions LOLOL

I can recommend this to readers that are looking for a survival game that's a little more focused on solving mysteries over horror and game-like systems. This novel certainly has elements of the latter two (like verrrry little) but mystery solving is definitely the focus! <<less

The plots for each arc are really well thought out. Every time I try to guess the mu*derer and I´m sad to say that I constantly got it wrong. There are a bit too many details for me to like it and give it five stars but it´s definitely well written. All those intricacies in each plot and the TL never got the wording mixed up or made it too confusing.

Love the MC-ML interactions ? Especially the ML. He's protective to MC without being chauvinistic and I like his personality. Also, the title really suits the plot. Some of their actions are scripted esp the killing plot. They are restricted and will experience psychological torture in blackroom when they OOC. The story itself or scenes might be disturbing (in many ways) for some readers.

The people transmigrated in this infinite flow game are forced to kill for them to live. This is not the typical survival game where u know the... more>> killer, instead, u will find it out among players (mu*der Mystery) and the wrong choice will led the death of investigator and the wrongly accused person. The chosen people are those who did something bad in reality and I am wondering what did the MC do. For scum, this world is retribution they deserve but for those with minor crime.. I feel a little bad them ? Particularly those who did something out of self defense. I find this world a UNFAIR. Though this story is eclipsed by the "card room" this is still good.

For flaws, the MC's actions are too noticeable.
Spoiler

He should have asked other questions not only involving investigator. He can asked questions if the mu*derer can put less than the amount of poison since the player only needed to do the instructions from the card (only mentioned "put a poison" and not the instructions written on the poison.

Also, author mentioned at c33 that "MC has a proud nature brought out from the bone". This statement is contradictory the previous chapters in which MC felt inferior
[collapse]

Btw, The script writer of the infinite flow stories really likes dog blood drama I feel bad on the story arc 2 even the player also cried but I just convince myself that this is only a script XD <<less

Have lots of hope for this one!

Very early in and I’m already hooked. MC and ML are both very clever and interesting— they have good dynamics and they’re written in a way that makes you want to know more about them, in a way that tempts you to keep on reading. The psychological aspect that keeps on testing one’s morality and personal boundary can be seen to be progressing nicely so far and I’m very excited for further development. The game it’s based on has always been a favorite of... more>> mine and they integrate it nicely into the view that they want to exhibit, showing off both human strategy and state of mind.

All in all, I highly recommend giving this novel a read. Likewise to the concept, the translation is excellent and I’m definitely looking forward to more. <<less

I'm still reading, but I can say it's worth the time.

This is a novel about a guy who was crossing a street and suddenly appeared in a strange place asking him to act out his character on a card he received and follow the plot. From there the story begins.

Our MC makes a lot of discoveries about this "acting game" and he meets ML in the first chapters and they get closer.

But anyway I'm loving the story, it has a great development, the couple's feelings also grow as the story... more>> progresses and the plot pace is very well done. Summing up this novel is worth the five stars I rated :) <<less

It's completely worth reading this just for the ML. ML is devoted and smart. I read this through just for the romance/relationship, really. Both MC and ML are smart and incredibly competent.

The main plot itself is interesting at first, but then once we get used to the rules and how they work it gets kinda weak. Players have set roles and actions (a script) that they have to follow and this include the actual killings. So the killers can only try to hide the fact that they were the one... more>> who killed the victim. How they actually kill the victims are set by the script and they have to follow it. Also as more things are revealed the entire game basically loses its initial high stakes. The only real stakes later on are threats to MC and ML's relationship. So the main plot itself kind of just becomes a thing that's just going on and they have to do. I'm not invested in the plot and what's going on.

Also as the story goes on the writing style kind of starts to drag on? It explains everything very clearly but in doing so the explanations start to drag on. It has to explain every single thing and every single detail. Maybe it's just cause I was reading in Chinese (which is far more strenuous for me to read than English) that it seemed draggy.

MC is mentally ill, and that was interesting in how it affects him. But I can't really get behind the cause of his mental illness (the trauma that caused it). Not that it shouldn't cause him to be ill, it definitely does and what happened was incredibly traumatic. But just with how and where the novel kinda puts the blame when describing the event.

The revelation of what the system is also kinda annoyed me. It makes sense, but then it has this forced black and white morality. Which might be a nitpick but really really annoys me. <<less

The author has a lot of knowledge about card games (werewolf, killing script game, the King game, etc.), and has made three novels about them. (And these novels are related to each other in some way, too!). "Live Action mu*der Mystery" is one of them.

It's really worth a read, give it a shot! Read an arc or two, I especially liked the UNDYING VILLAGE arc because it's meaty in intrigue, tension, emotion, and plot.

If you particularly like having an experience quickly without going through a thousand chapters, this one is particularly satisfying. It doesn't feel dead or boring as other quick transmigrations. The author gave each arc enough detail with the plot, and the character interactions don't feel off. It reminded me of how I felt watching a TV series that I liked, episodic... more>> with an interesting premise and satisfying conclusion, and particularly suits the needs of busy folk who can only squeeze in a couple of hours to read something whole.

This novel is very engrossing. I think it's thanks to the main characters. Gu Liang and Yang Ye both feel very alive, and they pull you into the scene. I can imagine them interacting in my head as I read, and it automatically fleshes out my imagination of the plot and the setting of the story. It's very enjoyable in that regard. The story is well-paced and from the current arc I'm on, it's starting to get more in-depth and more interesting to read.

There are some flaws sometimes where a dialogue or two feels off, but it didn't take me away from the story.

The translation is very good too! It manages to capture the emotional line of the story naturally. I cried a few times, and the novel shows more than it tells. <<less

This novel inst bad but the characters really start to annoy me. The MC and ml’s feelings feel forced to me and I just feel as if the MC iq’s going to lower the more it continues because he’s too dependant of the ml.

4.5 Stars: I have a feeling that I may not be patient enough if I caught up to the most recent chapters so I'll stop here for now and wait until this novel is completed.

P.s: My brain cells have also been used as the main ingredient for the Hell's Kitchen Show ಥ⌢ಥ

It's interesting. Makes you wonder how will they cheat the system when one of them will be the mu*derer. ???? Can't wait for it.

Also, something was bothering me about the comment section that it was kinda disappointing for they reveal their roles and so on to other players. Well, there's nothing wrong about them telling about their specific roles WHEN they were suspicious on them right? Andt they could even alter what they want to say either reveal everything or not to the other party, they decided it in the first... more>> place. Moreover, it was stated in the rules about sharing, stealing, etc. Is not allowed. It might mean that barter of roles is NOT allowed.

So this means that what they're doing is NOT a VIOLATION of the rules that the system had set. In the first place, there was nothing specified regarding that one. Either it could be a loophole or that a chance for the detective to know the mu*derer. If not, it will be too hard for the players, especially the detective, to deduce the motive and how the killer kill the victim.

Well, the revelation of their specific of their roles, the system already gave the outline while the said person either tells or avoids is up to them. As long as they don't VIOLATE THE RULES set by the gamemaster (I just used this pronoun aside from calling system because it could be like a game. Don't know what to call for real tho). Because if they did, heheh you'll know what punishment awaits for rule and role breaker.

This would be all. <<less
