Su Yun was a prodigy who was blessed by the gods. However, life was not always so smooth sailing. After reaching the 6th stage in the Spirit Novice Realm, his progress stagnated due to having incurred a rare medical condition.

A few years went by, and Su Yun spent all his time gambling and drinking, wasting his youth away, but one day everything changed. Qing Er, the only one who stood by him, was forced by her clan to be a sacrificial bride for someone she didn’t love, only to be executed by the groom on the wedding night for fleeing. Revengeful, he scoured the world for a cure for his rare medical condition from both the righteous and villainous sides.

Countless years go by, and Su Yun not only finds a way to cure his rare condition but also gains immense knowledge of a myriad of martial techniques in the process.

But before he could fully cure himself, he receives news that the groom had suffered an assault that damaged his internal organs. Rather than wait for decades to become fully cured, Su Yun decided to hatch a plan for the assassination of the groom. Unfortunately, he underestimated the strength of the groom’s family and was killed instead.

Then he regains consciousness. He comes to a realization that he had been taken back to 15 years in the past. This time, he vows to protect Qing Er, first curing his rare medical condition. Will he learn from the mistakes of his previous life or will everything still be set in stone?

It was an interesting story.

Out of all the aspects of the novel, I liked MC the most. He had a very different personality from the generic xianxia MC's. He does everything swiftly, doesn't talk too much to his enemies, coerces them to do some things with fake promises... He only stays true to his words to his girls and people he can trust back.

World building also wasn't bad, but the worlds weren't that much explored, only the one he was born in, and one more but for a relatively short... more>> amount of time.

Harem was... I don't really know how to describe it... There wasn't very much development between him and most of the girls (only like 3 of them), but at least at the ending it had a nice closure -
Spoiler

he married them all

[collapse]
.

The story itself wasn't too boring, the only part that bothered me was when
Spoiler

author wasted over 400 chapters to help his parents (the same ones that left him to rot in a clan full of people that hated him) bring his sister back, and in those 400 chapters, he offend all kinds of influences that had stronger people than him.

[collapse]

Recommend it to people that like to read about MC crushing his enemies quickly with no long bickering and competition with words included. <<less

I don't write too many reviews, just on stuff that I should share. This novel has so many issues that I don't even know where to start.

  • Inconsistent power levels and cultivation values... Sometimes MC can fight someone 4-8 levels above. Sometimes he cant do jack sh*t against someone 1 level above.
  • Whenever MC cultivates to a higher level, literally people all higher cultivation floods like ants in areas that normally don't have those power values. (This happens in our LNs as well. However, it's so much worse in this)
  • The harem members/relationship is literally the worst thing I've ever read in my life. The members are incapable of walking out the f*cking street, without causing issues for MC to run around.
  • MC is probably the dumbest character I've read.
  • MC's cultivation levels is strictly based on treasures, rather than any form of talent whatsoever.
I highly recommend not reading this.

I read until chapter 115. It started really good but slowly besides still being your typical Xianxia, it became horrible. The MC is unlikeable, Qin Er, who was supposed to be his driving force faded into the background, the villains are the typical "Go! Die tr*sh!" As for his harem, its also constituted of your typical "beauties" whose only use its ornamental. There is no character development to speak off, so even if I wanted to find some redeeming point about this novel I truly can't. I'll just drop all... more>> together and wish good luck to the brave souls who are willing to keep going. <<less

I feel compelled to write this as a caveat to others who may share similar sentiments towards r*pe regardless of how such violations are justified by authors.

I dropped this novel immediately after Chp 68 when the MC decided after deliberation, to r*pe a powerful "girl" rendered helpless (after being trapped in some restrictions/formation) in order to increase his own talent and cultivation level !? This is despite him professing his love for another lady since Chapter 1.

While I accept that everyone is entitled to his or her own opinions... more>> and value systems, I am disappointed with the manners and attitudes in which many web-novel authors write about r*pes and harem. One can have good plots and novels without indulging in such unnecessary r*pes or harems. *Sigh* <<less

A lot of 'Xianxia' MCs are called tr*sh by their enemies but that's usually just an exaggeration, this story is unfortunately one of the rare ones that the MC is truly tr*sh.
Spoiler

I'm surprised that the readers can defend the MC raping a girl and doing other shady stuffs.

[collapse]

The protagonist is also overly dependent on cheat items to defeat his enemies. Even when he wins there isn't any satisfaction because he just cheats.

Weak ass story and world building, very inconsistent. Ruthless MC who killed people for the treasures he wanted, he's just basically a villain if he was in another novel. Reincarnation's excuses that MC didn't have fighting experience so he avoided the beasts, and the next he knew every trick to defeat the beasts, and the next he killed the patriarch of a sect. Romance is little to non existence, like a carrot on a stick, misleading readers. The author kept making ridiculous stuffs up as he went, MC pulled knowledge... more>> out of his ass without any background story simply because he reincarnated so he should know. Array master, pill master, how did he achieve all that within the span of dozen years and weak cultivation before he completely cured himself and died and reincarnated? A lot of unrealistic characters making this novel a little lifeless. Considering the author is inexperience so 2/5. <<less

I tried to read this book, but it's just so illogical.

Everyone is trying to kill the main character. His only outside friend that helps him is Blossom Heart Valley which is only a pill sect that can't do anything to help him.

Don't have got me started on Qing Er. I don't understand: if she is so important, why is everyone inside the sect is trying to r*pe her or kill her. If they spent resources and invest in her, it should make sense that they would try to protect their... more>> investment right?

Spoiler

The Profound Sky Sect spent generations finding the Divine Body, but she gets easily taken away by the weak ass main character (relative to the Profound Sky Sect). I mean come on!! You spent years of resources laying down formations all over the continent, and you "lose the main component". Are you kidding me?

[collapse]

As for the main character, I don't get him. I mean he isn't dumb or anything, but he just feels... It feels like he is always reacting to events. He is smart since he was reborn, but why the f*ck is he always put into the worst possible positions? It's like nothing carried back with him when he reborn besides demonic techniques.

I don't even want to mention other bs plot armor. <<less

So unsatisfying.

This is one of those Xianxia that start with the tr*sh MC that is despised by his clan and suddenly gets the talent to get revenge on all of them. The problem with this story is that the MC's clan is SO MASSIVE. He has spent to long kill tr*sh from his clan. It's just infuriating situations after infuriating situations as he kills the generic, arrogant, corrupt clansman who are only introduced for like 15 chapters before death. He finally managed to accomplish his original goal, and that is... more>> immediately counteracted by him getting kidnapped by more arrogant people. That's when I stopped reading this.

He makes so little progress towards his goals that it's kinda ridiculous, and his cultivation is so slow that it's not worth thinking about because he uses his treasures to fight 3 realms higher anyways.

Also, 2/3 of the waifus want to kill him.
Main waifu is uninteresting and I still don't understand why she likes the MC so much.

I was excited originally by the premise, but it turned out to be a disappointment of cliches. <<less

The story is about the selfish edgy hypocrite MC that fights against other hypocrites, he acts as if everyone owes him something, is a self righteous piece of sh*t and totally coated with plot armor, if u want to read about someone killing someone that never did him any wrong and yet act as if all he is doing is righteous, this is for you

just in the first chapters you see him using some disciples for his selfish motives and afterward act as if their sect fighting against him is traitorous and evil, cause indeed he saved them but he sounds like the dude that will save a girl and afterward feel unjust for her not jumping on his d...

and I love how everyone tries to justify actions cause of some past story, or reason, imagine you being killed by some dude like this and he tells you in the last moments is not for him, is for his loved ones, you ofc die happily, definitely not feeling that he is a self righteous ahole, tell me your address and I will rob you for my poor family, is for my family man, you need to understand that I'm not evil and selfish, I'm the most selfless person.

Not really a fan of evil MC but definitely not liking self righteous MC, they are like hypocrite evil while the evil MC are just evil, might as well read about someone evil that is not a hypocrite. <<less

Typically cn light novel MC. Called tr*sh, an MC who can't even protect his loved one (it was obvious in synopsis) but always said ' for protect '. I mean what level of hypocrite is that? Anyway, for others side characters. It's true that comparing Earth citizen and others world humans is wrong, but at least give them 1 % of Iq!

But, the good thing is, the true meaning inside can easily be comprehend. " Don't give up for the path that you want to walk ". Even though,... more>> too many ' plot forced ' and others " Insulting to my intelligent ' kind of situation. This novel is good for people that needs " MOTIVATION ". <<less

I will update this once I finish the Novel.

Edit: I've completed this novel now. It's still the exact same. This author doesn't know how to invoke emotions from his readers. This is the most empty MC I've ever seen.

Not really a harem novel.. it's only slightly better than the harem progression of the magus era.

... more>> The ending was probably the best thing about it. I think the author did a good job wrapping things up.

My biggest issue with this Novel is... everything just felt one dimensional. This was probably the only novel where I had no emotional attachment to any of the characters. This was a major issue for me, because I like having emotional attachments to at least some of the characters in a novel I'm reading. I want to care if a character lives or dies.

Generic Xianxia.

Trope bingo:

  • MC suffers from mysterious unexplained cultivation sucking illness that makes everyone look down on him.
  • MC's past could easily be explained somewhere in the first 400 chapters but isn't.
  • s*upid, shallow characters. Brain-dead antagonists. How the MC managed to remain undiscovered for so long is a miracle. There's not much adventure, just MC fighting off a never-ending stream of a**holes.
  • s*upid power system. Basically a JRPG level system. Doesn't even bother to explain the differences between levels. There's a system for items and techniques as well, but you can ignore it as it's equally pointless and rarely brought up.
  • MC constantly pulls Deus ex Machinas to fight people ~40 (etc) levels above him.
  • Plot r*pe. Not many situations IRL where r*pe is the perfect solution. But hey, it's how Xianxia MCs meet chicks.
  • Dictionary edited machine translations. Lots of translation errors, grammar errors and poor word choices. On the plus side, the plot is shallow so you're not missing much.
  • Stopped reading when the obligatory setting change kicked in and the MC moved on to the next map, taking the current shallow level of world building and throwing it straight into the tr*shcan.
I don't think I'm physically capable of writing positive reviews at this point.

So... my first doubts started when I read about the synopsis...
"
Countless years go by, and finally Su Yun not only found a way to cure his rare condition but also gain immense knowledge on a myriad of martial techniques.

But before he could fully cure himself, he received news that the groom suffered an assault that damaged his internal organs. Rather than wait for decades to become fully cured, Su Yun decided to hatch a plan for the assassinate of the groom. Unfortunately, he underestimated the strength of the... more>> groom’s family and was killed instead.

Then he regains consciousness. He comes to a realization that he went 15 years in the past. This time, he vowed to protect Qing Er, but first he must cure his rare medical condition. Will he learn from the mistakes of his previous life or is everything still set in stone?
"

Now, this wording... Countless years go by? Really? Countless can't be used to describe a mere 15 or so years. Countless my arse. Then he was killed by the grooms family, yeah... So, after a mere 15 years of cultivating (usually not enough to gain that much strength, he probably spent a few years getting healed too) he went on the revenge trip, cool story. Just from the synopsis, I judged this MC to be quite s*upid, but I guess that's fine. Well, it wasn't all fine when I started reading this story, but you may refer to other negative reviews on that. <<less

This is less of a review, and more of my random thoughts on this novel.

I can't say that this novel is the best novel out there. Or even the top among those rated with these many stars. I'm only sure that it does deserve 4 stars, and 4 stars for mainly one reason. That despite all of it's faults, most of the time, the author sure knows how to keep you interested. And that's where you see many novels out there fail. That even if you stop reading this for... more>> a month or two, you end up going back to it. There is just something about how it started and what is promises you that you find enticing. The novel never promises more or less than it's potential, and because of that, you know what you are in for.

Anyway, for those that hate/love harem, I'm not sure if this novel is really actually one. Although it might give the air as one from time to time, in the end, nothing 'haremesque' happens. It seems more of the typical woes of a normal outgoing guy. You meet women and you forge relationships. Some women you find interesting, but and there is chemistry, but you don't go as far as that. In fact, the character doesn't have any s*xual or non-platonic relationship with more than one woman at a time. There is NSFW for those that care. All in all, I would say, this is not a harem. And as someone who typically doesn't like harems, I find myself liking it regardless of the atmosphere it can give off sometimes. <<less

So its a mix of TDG + BTTH. MC dies and goes back in time. He was a genius but no more. His fiancee shows up to break the engagement and he warns her of being sorry later.

Translation quality is poor and really needs a good editor. While I am not a native English speaker and can understand some bad translations, I was left confused quite a lot of times. Examples like - "Su Yun said "...........". Su Yun was startled. " How can Su Yun be startled by... more>> what he himself had said.

Or " Su Yun pulled the sword. It came out without obstruction. Both Su Yun and Sword Elder were startled." I get Sword Elder being startled as he was the sword guardian but don't get Su Yun's reaction

The novel translation (or maybe the novel) is replete of this kind of storytelling. <<less

Time-travel. MC is trying to become OP so he can protect a girl who is very important to him (she dies in the other timeline). MC uses knowledge from future to power up, but unlike Nie Li from TDG, he isn't a human encyclopedia, so relies a little less on future knowledge. Power progression is decent. How the MC had managed to amass so much knowledge in the future was never clearly explained. I'm hoping more info will come out soon. Other than some incongruities with the plot, I have... more>> no problem with the novel. <<less

Review as of Ch.65.

A decent series, as the MC has a goal in mind which is clearly laid out right off the bat. What isn’t clear is the way to get it. I feel the author has crammed too much in too little chapters. The MC while starting off weak is still overpowered, being able to use the accumulated knowledge of his ruined future. I find it depressing that the author still found the need to throw special items, new skills and a “inner self teacher” in addition to his... more>> already powerful advantages. Not only that, he takes huge risks to get items as shortcuts; suffering injuries and offending powerful figures on the way. One wonders if the shortcuts are worth it when there are so many cons that would jeopardize his end goal in the first place, and it’s just an excuse for the author to give the MC more advantages than he really needs.

I will continue to read it, to see how it goes on.

Edit as of Ch 69: I dropped 1 star rating just because of one chapter (68) because I couldn't agree with the author's direction. The story basically painted the MC into a corner and tries to have the MC justify (or not) what he did, but the description and dialogue of the event only served to enhance the MC's wrongdoing in my eyes.

I'm adding a caveat to give a heads up to other readers: don't expect a righteous hero. I am still reading this, but my expectations has dimmed somewhat. <<less

The translation takes a serious dive around 600+ chapters or so. Many mistakes, literal translation, and some words get repeated dozens of consecutive times for no explicable reason. And don't get on started on the messed-up gender pronouns, they are often completely wrong that they make sentences very hard to follow. (who is talking to whom... etc.).

Why do people insist on writing sound effects? And why do people insist on trying to translate them? They do not help at all. In fact, they only harm the flow of the story... more>> and break the immersion.

I hated how reckless the protagonist behaved. I wished he'd hunker down every now and then in order to raise his strength. But no, he just charges into very dangerous situations without any real plan all the freaking time.

He's always fighting someone else's war. Especially, because of his irresponsible family.

I found it really annoying that the author introduces an evil sect, then he goes on and on about how powerful that evil sect is, and then, just when that sect gets destroyed, he starts with overshadowing, stating that actually that so-called powerful evil sect was actually a small fry compared to the even more power evil-er sect that's behind it, and this keeps repeating for a while.

I'm about 800 chapters in, and I'm tired of this. Honestly, the only redeeming thing about this novel, is the side-characters. They are more interesting than the idiotic MC. <<less

The MC is just doing everything for protecting his loved ones this situation is same in every f*cking novels of xianxia or wuxia genre. Why can't the MC be selfish for himself anyway.I like the MC with the goal to be strongest for himself too not to just protect his loved ones. In this novel MC is giving the same f*cking reason of protecting his loved ones and dying for them every time f*ck the MC.
